Alex Grill in Zermatt

Very great atmosphere, but that's it... If we didn't go to the bar ourselves after an hour to order something, we would probably have died of thirst. Nobody finds it necessary to clear the tables either. A pity!

The service is hopelessly overwhelmed. Even if everyone is nice and polite, it's an absolute NO GO if you don't get parmesan for your pasta after asking several times. And in the end, when the plate is cleared and you point it out, you don't even get any compensation.

The salad bar is good, the vegetables are fresh and there are many choices The mutton has no fishy smell and is delicious But maybe it’s because the kitchen is slow to deliver food and the waiters are in a hurry to collect the plates.

Alex is an amazing full of character experience in Zermatt. Have never experienced a resort this full of character, charm convenience and amenities - a sincere WOW factor!

The bar is over-the-top opulence, with red velvet everywhere. Be sure and check out the barstools in the shape of mountain goat heads. Worth a walk through, even if you don't buy a drink (but you should.)

I stayed here only one night because I came especially just for one concert that was part of the unplugged festival and the hotel is fantastic, that I actually considered to stay longer 😄 I had a single room which was very good. The swimming pool and spa area are also great and the breakfast is fantastic.

Who knew you could watch American football in Switzerland. The bartender was nice enough to let us watch the playoffs and there was a good crowd of people watching the game from across the world.

Lovely bar with a distinct air and charme of yesteryear. I had the best caipirinha I have had for a very long time. Next time we're back in Zermatt, we will definitely also be back here, for another caipirinha 😎

A great surprise. It’s my third time in Zermatt and my first time to this fun filled bar. The ambulances incredible. Bar tenders were nice and helpful at helping select new drinks. Dessert was awesome! The lounge is like nothing else around. Totally worth it just to get a dessert and hang out. Family friendly with sports in the TV in one area and pool/billiards table fir all to enjoy. Fireplaces adore every room. Lots of private social areas that can be reserved for parties or small groups. A must see in Zermatt. Enrique was a great server and was highly spirited. DJ was great with fun music played at an appropriate level to enjoy and still be able to hold a private conversation without raising your voice. Well done everyone!

I received incredible kindness, warm and caring service today at this unique establishment. I had difficulty with the jacuzzi in the bathroom- a great extra- they sent a porter to show me. No judgment- no problem! My walking stick i thought i had left at reception when asking about the jacuzzi was brought to my room. Had an issue with the room key- nothing too big a problem or too much trouble for this hotel staff. Every person I encountered at dinner, breakfast, bar was friendly, welcoming. When I congratulated them for such super service especially the kindness, they said we reflect you Madame. Amazing! Thank you!!! The reception remembered my room number from last evening. There are 3 buildings!!! Wow!

Probably the coolest bar setting in Zermatt. They've got billiards and foosball. Cocktails are tasty and the Swiss wines are amazing. One of my favorite places to stay in the world!

Spent my birthday dinner at the Wine Cellar here and felt like royalty. Kevin was our server and was the best! Tried duck a few different ways, but my main course was the L sirloin served medium-rare with potatoes au gratin and seasonal veggies. I was able to share this with my sister w an app, and we were satisfied. The duck breast tasted wonderful and was beautifully plated, as well. Terrace tried! Very well prepared cocktails! So we only tried the bar part, which I totally recommend! The setting is really beautiful. I hope that I will have the opportunity to discover one of these four, the catering part for example.

Arrive, feel good, enjoy - and leave with regret. A quick summary of our wonderful three-day family stay with children at the Hotel Alex Zermatt. The hosts Perren & Hürlimann and the entire staff took great pleasure in ensuring that we felt “at home” at all times. The rooms are cozy and clean. Half board is strongly recommended for a stay, as the kitchen service is excellent - the wine list with a great selection of local and special rarities at fair prices was also impressive. The swimming pool area/pool is spacious and well maintained. Thank you to the whole team for this stay - we are all looking forward to coming back.

We tried the terrace for an aperitif and the restaurant It's very very very very good for a reasonable price Beautifully presented dishes, good flavors.... A restaurant reminiscent of French cuisine... And the staff is smiling and pleasant.... Thank you for this good time

We stayed there this week with 3 teenage children, and they had lots to do. Fantastic location in central Zermatt. Great sporting facilities - swimming, tennis, gym, squash in the hotel itself. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Food good and rooms very comfortable. We will return!

Super hôtel, restaurant.. Très bien accueilli et très professionnel. Les 2 soirs ou on a mangé au restaurant c'était le top du top, les serveurs aux petits soins et la nourriture excellente..

Superbe hôtel, le personnel est vraiment très sympa, le restaurant est excellent nous nous sommes régalé. A 2 min. de la gare, super pratique. La piscine est grande avec des buses et des lits à bulles, sans oublier le jacuzzi. Des flotteurs à disposition, idéal pour les enfants. Nous avons passé un excellent week-end avec notre fille de 4ans, nous pouvons que recommander cet hôtel. J'espère y retourner.

j'ai commandé la tentacule de poulpe poêlé, houmous, artichauts poivrade, tapenade d'olives noires ; je m'attendais à une assiette gastronomique, mais grosse déception, c'est slt de la popotte ! Bcp Bcp d'houmous, un pauvre tentacule de poulpe, 2 minuscules morceaux de pain toasté avec une pellicule de tapenade d'olive complètement sèche. Quelque noix de cajou (pas torréfiées) et qq grains de grenade jetés sur le plat style déco ! La seule bonne surprise, ce sont 2 feuilles (peut-être d'orties) passées à la tempura. Le verre de vin blanc Pouily Fuissé à 12ch ne m'a pas convaincu ; j'aurais du demander à voir la bouteille

Weekend en couple en février 2021, magnifique hôtel, la décoration de chaque pièce et de chaque chambre est super. Tout est propre. On s'y sent très bien. Un personnel très aimable, serviable et toujours disponible. Le restaurant est parfait, nourriture excellente, des serveurs attentionné. Merci à Enrique pour son amabilité. Le spa est très bien, même avec le grand nombre de skieurs, vu la saison, normal, il y a de la place. Nous y reviendrons avec plaisir en été.

Ma fiancée et moi-même avons séjourné en août 2020 et récemment en février 2021. Nous avions passé un super week-end durant l'été qui nous avait donner envie d'y séjourner plus longuement durant l'hiver. Une fois de plus nous avons été ravis de l'accueil que nous avons reçu, de la qualité de l'hôtel et de son personnel. Sans oublier le restaurant qui encore une fois a régalé nos papilles. Nous recommandons vivement au couple et au famille ce magnifique hôtel familiale ! A très vite !

I stayed here in September, the hotel was very clean and the location is also perfect, close to the train station. Food in their restaurant is also good specially desserts.

Der Gruss aus der Küche und die Suppe waren sehr gut. Beim Fleisch waren wir enttäuscht. Entrecote vom Grill war fast kalt und geschmacklich- na ja. Kartoffelstock aus dem Beutel?

Kamen durch Zufall auf die Terasse. Nur 20-30m von der Hektik des Bahnhofplatzes eine Oase der Ruhe! Es war schon nach 1400 und der Ital Kellner schaffte es trotzdem uns noch das Menü anzubieten. Speisen und Getränkeservice war top. Das Interior des Hotels sehr ansprechend und auf unserer Liste für einen zukünftigen Besuch. Der Service war sehr überzeugend und ist der Grund für den Gedanken wieder zu kommen.... Wir sind selbst Hoteliers und Kollegen wie der junge Mann von heute Nachmittag 14.09. sind nicht einfach zu finden. Danke!

Nous avons pris un plat végétarien, un plat de viande, un dessert (tiramisu à la fraise). Tout était excellent. Et en plus un service très sympathique. Une adresse à recommander.

Felt like a princess, it was probably the most beautiful hotelroom i have ever stayed in. The dreamy decor is consistent throughout the hotel, which is spotlessly clean. The Spa is great, there are many options for breakfast, while the restaurant has a great wine selection. Very good value for the price.

Das Hotel ist maximal 5min vom Bonhof entfernt. Es ist kein Taxi erforderlich. Die Rezeptionistin war sehr freundlich. Wir erhielten ein schönes Dachzimmer mit kleinem Balkon. Leider konnten wir die Deckenfenstern nicht abdunkeln, so dass es im Zimmer schon am morgen früh sehr hell wurde. Die Lounges / Bars / Restaurants sind auf alt englisch-amerikanische dekoriert. Das Rustika-lische und etwas kitschige Ambiente hat uns sehr gefallen. Der SPA ist sehr modern und der Ruhe Raum ist sehr schön dekoriert. Das Schwimmbad ist etwas älter dekoriert aber Komplet überdacht. Die Restaurantterrasse ist gross und angenehm beschattet. Die Gerichte sind gut, aber nicht spezielles.

Einfach sehr hochstehend, super Essen und Badewanne voll Komfort mit Sprudel usw.Direkt hinter dem Bahnhof sehr zentral gelegen und trotzdem ruhig.

Very expensive for what you get, 18chf for a child's portion of spaghetti, after which our 8 year old was still hungry. Waiters were quite rude and unhelpful, we ordered a 2nd glass of the same wine we already had. They finally, after 20 mins, delivered a glass of wine which was not cold and certainly not the same as we had previously! When we questioned it the waiter just took it away and didn't even offer an alternative!

Totalement snobé dès l'entrée du restaurant... finalement au bout de plus de 5mn, nous aurons été ailleurs.

Exzellente Küche... Beefsteak Tatar sehr zu empfehlen.. sehr aufmerksamer und freundlicher Service. schöner Garten auch mit Kindern geeignet toller Spielplatz mit großer Dino Rutsche.

Proche de la gare, donc facilement accessible avec de grosses bagages, pas besoin de taxi. La réceptionniste était très sympa. Nous avons reçu une jolie chambre sous les combles mais avec des fenêtres dans le plafond que nous ne pouvions pas couvrir avec des stores. Il faisait donc très clair dans la chambre dès les premières lueurs de l'aube, dommage. Mattelas et cousins trop mous à mon goûts. les salons/bars/restaurants à l'intérieur sont très décorés, ça donne un petit côté rustique anglais-américain très kitsch mais très sympa, on se sentait presque dans un autre monde c'était très drôle! la fresque de la piscine est d'un goût... particulier, mais le bassin est immense et les chambres du spa et le jaccuzzi sont très agréables. les tables de la terrasse du restaurant sont aussi d'un style orginal. Les plats sont bons mais sans plus. je recommande cet hôtel pour sa position, pour l'accueil, le service, la piscine, la jolie chambre si vous n'êtes pas sous le toit et la déco très spéciale qui nous a fait sentir ailleurs!

Il faut relever que la terrasse est très belle, placée un peu en retrait de la rue principale. Voilà LE point positif. Nous souhaitions juste prendre l’apéro vers 11h30. Une famille arrivée après nous est accueillie avant nous. Très peu de gens. Commande: un cocktail et une bière. Le cocktail est arrivé assez rapidement. Le serveur nous a dit que la bière arrive. Après presque 25 minutes toujours pas de bière. Le serveur nous voit mais semble nous éviter. Pas plus de monde sur la terrasse...Le cocktail terminé, ni bière, ni serveur, nous avons quitté les lieux en laissant juste le montant pour le cocktail (ce qui était déjà bien gentil au vu du service)

Hôtel très bien situé mais les services réception (peu sympathique), chambre (robinetterie : fuite , pas de mini bar, pas de nécessaire toilette) et propreté (poussièreux) ne correspondent pas à ce que l on est en droit d attendre d un 4 étoiles !

Un hôtel excellent, à côté de la gare. Propre, accueil vraiment au top, la nourriture n'est excellente et les chambres sont vraiment belles.

Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff.

Par hasard, nous sommes arrivés sur la terrasse de l’Alex, sympa et calme à quelques dizaines de mètres de la Bahnhofstrasse. Nous avons pris les suggestions soit en entrées salade de grosses crevettes et ses chanterelles et ravioles au fromage avec chanterelles puis souris d’agneau et poulet farci au curry rouge. Nickel avec un bon service du personnel.

Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut, aber der Service zu diesen Preisen ein absolutes No-Go! Wir mussten immer Ewigkeiten warten bis ein Kellner kam und schlussendlich haben wir auf Kaffee und Dessert verzichtet, da zu lange niemand mehr kam. Die Servicequalität hat dringend eine Verbesserung nötig!

Este hotel fica num dos mais belos locais dos Alpes suíços, numa zona de rara beleza, Zermat. O acesso faz-se apenas por comboio. O hotel é lindíssimo, com uma decoração muito peculiar. Os quartos são espaçosos, com varandas floridas donde se vêem paisagens deslumbrantes. Tem transporte disponível para quem tem dificuldades de locomoção . O pessoal é atencioso e o serviço é de boa qualidade.

Great hotel. We got the smaller suite and it is great. The bathroom is outstanding. Though the decor of the bath doesn’t fit the rest of the old style Swiss hotel. The breakfast is great!! Staff is incredibly friendly. The spa and pool are really good. My wife loved her massage.

This was our second time at Alex Grill and we were as impressed this time as we were last time. The atmosphere was really great and the overall experience was phenomenal.

Avec ma femme nous avons pris 2 entrées le fois gras et les pâtes au truffes qui était juste sublime mais nous avons été déçu par le plat principal qui était un magnifique bar de ligne en deux services.Le problème c'est que ce bar d'une très bonne qualité était juste cuit et servie sans aucune sauces ou acsonnement et la même chose pour le 2eme service sauf que un peux de sel et poivre avaient été ajouté. Je trouve que pour 150chf le plat c'est clairement minimaliste.

I stayed in the Hotel Alex in July 2018. It's a beautiful hotel with lots of eclectic charm. Each hotel room is different. The food was great. Staff was very nice. I will stay here again the next time I ever get back to Zermatt.

Excelente hotel muy cerca de la estación de tren, te ofrecen servicio de transporte hasta el hotel aunque si no llevas muchas maletas, no es necesario, nos encantó, hemos ido en temporada baja y la cuidad estaba llena de turistas, la piscina y cancha de tenis "enormes" el spa simplemente perfecto... A visitar en invierno también :)

We came across the Alex hotel while wandering the streets on Saturday night looking for a place to eat, and just off the main strip we found Hotel Alex. They have a large dining hall but - we saw the lounge and decided THAT is where we wanted to site. This is the largest lounge in likely all of Zermatt with multiple rooms all decorated differently so each “area” is sectioned off. We found a quiet corner and were welcomed by the bartender who happened to be the one to take care of us all night. We had a five-course meal for $60 Swiss Francs which includes unlimited bread, salad bar, gazpacho, ravioli in garlic cream sauce, beef tenderloin, and for dessert chocolate cake and raspberry sorbet. Incredible value considering this incredible selection. We loved the salad bar!! The bartender helped me with my wine selection and brought me three tasters! Very classy. I would come back and I would highly recommend. Note, given the summer off season, expect the service to be relaxed and on the slower side. This bartender took care of the entire lounge and the kitchen was on the floor below in the main dining hall. Oh, to top it all off - the bartender gave us both a complimentary small serving of schnapps because he heard us talking about it!! So kind and a very nice touch.

Hôtel très bien situé au centre de Zermatt tout près de la gare ! Personnel compétent, on y parle bien le français. Chambre confortable, l'intérieur de l'hôtel, décoré à l'ancienne, est splendide ! Très grand spa également ! Petit bémol, le buffet du petit déjeûner pourrait être plus copieux.

Je n'ai pas dormi à l'hôtel, j'ai juste mangé au restaurant, les plats sont très bons, raffinés et la présentation est soignée
