The grilled lamb was made to perfection over an open fire pit. Dessert comes with hand spun cotton candy! After dinner is a show that’s so kitschy and unforgettable. Worth it!

The restaurant where Dario works as a waiter simply impresses with its charm and first-class service. The food is excellent, with a wide selection of Swiss delicacies to tantalize the palate. Dario is characterized by his cheerful personality and offers guests an unforgettable experience at every meal. I have never been to a better restaurant

The food is, to say the least, perfect. I have never eaten better anywhere, and the service is excellent, communicative and everything is just as it should be!

Chez Heini is in a class of its own in Zermatt! For us one of the highlights of every Zermatt visit. Sensational food (absolutely great lamb, but also vegetarian options as well as starters and desserts), top service and a very unique ambience with great attention to detail. Be sure to give yourself the entire evening - this is not a restaurant for a quick, cheap snack. A highlight is the short show by owner Dan Daniell around 10 p.m. It's even more fun with a few delicious drinks. Philistines and complaining goats should go somewhere else.

We had a great evening at Heini in Zermatt. The welcome was great and the atmosphere was very nice. The highlight of our meal was the rack of lamb cooked over a wood fire – a real killer! It was perfectly cooked, flavorful and juicy, a real treat for the taste buds. A big thank you to the entire Chez Heini team for their work and for giving us such a pleasant experience. We feel that attention to detail and passion for cooking are part of their daily life. We highly recommend everyone passing through Zermatt to stop at Heini. For sure, we will go back as soon as we can!

Grill was great however the starter and dessert were very average.

This was delicious one of the best meals we’ve had in zermatt. The lamb was out of this WORLD (leg of lamb & fillet were the stars) as well the polenta & fries Staff were so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great, we will definitely be back!

What a fun dining experience! The restaurants decor is very unique. The whole dining experience felt like a party. The food was excellent, and I highly recommend the lamb. They serve complimentary refills on the lamb and sides as well. Would definitely recommend this place to visitors of Zermatt.

We had a great evening at this restaurant. The food was excellent (I’ve never eaten better lamb!), the restaurant is unique and cool inside. We even had live music! I’m definitely going back there when we’re back in Zermatt. Especially to have some more of that lamb and fish and chips. Also, great and helpful staff! Their service was excellent!

By far the best lamb I've ever had. Get the rack of lamb and the potato soup and you'll get blown out of this world. Passionate and friendly chef that clearly loves his work cooking meats on the fire, friendly staff and décor that will, if nothing else, spark some interesting dinner conversation! A MUST DO when in Zermatt. I would suggest to learn as much as you can about the restaurant, its history, and Dan Daniels, while you dine. This establishment has been a pillar of Zermatt culture for decades. A little hookie, but lots of fun.

What a treat. Staff was super inviting and friendly. Manager and owner personally greeted us. The lamb chops and fillet is what to get there, cooked over hot open fire grill, which is the proper way for red meat. Decor was also interesting. A bit off the main drag but worth the walk.

We went to have dinner with some of our friends, reading the reviews thinking the meat would be good. After getting our very quaint starters, we had to wait 2 full hours for the main course, which was completely different from what we ordered. When we told that to the owner, instead of simply apologising or acknowledging his mistake, he behaved extremely inadequate, rude, and offensive, telling us to either eat what we were given or leave, so we simply left. For people whoo havent been to this restaurant- do NOT go there to their mediocre food and boorish, scandalous owners.

One thing in advance: If you're expecting a classic restaurant, Chez Heini is the wrong place. This location is anything but run-of-the-mill. Starting with the ambience, which is a combination of rustic and crazy stylish, with pictures of stars and starlets on the walls that tell you who has come here, glittering disco balls on the ceiling and colorful, dimmed lights on the black tables Silver decoration. The prices are high, but absolutely appropriate for the great food. We even got a second round of lamb and side dishes on the house. The service is relaxed, friendly and funny, the owner Urs helps to ensure that the guests don't miss anything and gets everyone in the party mood later in the evening with a few of his own songs, accompanied by a picture show. Everything is a little different, a little crazier, a little more colorful, a little more glittery. We had a really unforgettable, fun evening here and will definitely come back. But we're also a bit bananas ourselves, so it was the perfect restaurant for us. Again: If you want to go out for a “normal” meal or want to leave in an hour, Chez Heini is probably the wrong place for you.

Overpriced bland food except the lamb which is quite nice that took 2 hours to arrive. Rude and arrogant head waiter and dreadful cabaret. Avoid.

It couldn't be better! It's more than dining out at Dan Daniell's. You can feel pure passion for what you do. The loving preparation of the dishes, exquisite dishes and the creativity surprises. In addition to the lamb (extraaaaaaa!), the vegan version is also delicious! At 10 p.m. 3 songs that come from the heart, really make you want to hit the slopes and simply spread a happy atmosphere. The number 1 in Zermatt for gourmets. Just chapeau.

Very original decor. On the other hand, the cuisine is very average for an exorbitant price. 3 scallops as a starter for 28.- (despite everything the dish was good), ordinary salad for 19.-. 4 ribs for the rack of lamb with simple accompaniments (gratin, vegetables, no sauce and overcooked meat) for 59.- and you are served an additional fillet for an additional 15.-. Catastrophic dessert of the day with a Matterhorn in flambé chocolate coating a very liquid ice cream/cream whose aroma is difficult to determine. The chocolate was industrial and entry-level, the whole thing so disgusting that it was not possible to finish the dessert (still 19.-). Very slow and oriented service (we push consumption). I am not going to dwell on the spectacle offered at the end of the meal which was only a reflection of the cuisine (sad). After dessert, I told the waiter how we felt. He did not show the slightest capacity for questioning. In summary our worst dining experience in Zermatt in 30 years. Too bad there are so many good restaurants in this resort. Absolutely avoid.

The Lamb meat was very good. The service was good as well. I think they are over priced for what they serve. The portions were not enough and we also didn’t see the musical show that the owner puts up. If you want to spend a lot for less food go here. Taste is good.

A great place - a little crazy, special and unusual, but really great. If the place is full, which is often the case, it gets rather loud. We had a wonderful meal and the staff is always attentive and friendly, even in hectic moments. A visit is definitely worth it and the experience should not be missed.

We were there for my birthday. The food was really good, I haven't eaten such tender meat in a long time. The house gave me a dessert, I think it was very nice. Friendly service and a great boss... Thank you for the evening.

Once again we spent a fantastic evening here. Very fine food, tender lamb, great ambience & of course the musical performance is always an experience in magical Zermatt.

Our group(8 people) from the U.S. decided to have my birthday dinner here. SO GLAD WE DID!! It's a really fun atmosphere, with an over the top show that everyone really got into it. Our waitress, Lena was fantastic!! She really made the night. The food was phenomenal! Make sure you get the soup served in a high heel shoe:) The owner was so gracious and went from table to table. A MUST VISIT STOP! I highly recommend!

Despite a reservation, our table was occupied after 13 minutes. When making the reservation I had to accept a fee of 100 ch per person if I didn't come. I was yelled at because I was late. The host would have to leave his personal frustration at home. We ran away. Dirk Alexander Lickfett. Liar. We were not offered a place.

I absolutely don't recommend the place ! Terrible service from our waitress/hostess .She was so rude to us! She had a demeaning and aggressive attitude. Definitely not made for this job as show from other bad reviews. The manager apologized for the behavior of the waitress,we appreciate that but future guests better reconsider going for that place!

One of the best dinner experiences I’ve ever had. The food was amazing; the decor and ambiance were so unique, and everything had an interesting quirk to it. Our dinner was going long which worked out for the better, as we got to experience Dan Daniell serenading us for a few songs.

The interior is interesting and the food is excellent. Unfortunately it was all spoiled by the terrible service from our waitress/hostess that day. She had a demeaning attitude and was borderline rude to us. We witnessed the same behavior with neighboring tables, especially one in which they didn't order wine. The rest of the staff was great. I absolutely don't recommend the place. *Update*: Matthias reached out to us to apologize for the behavior of the waitress and to inform us that they are working on fixing the problem. I appreciate that and hope future customers will have a better experience.

Sensational, rustic restaurant that is a must to visit in Zermatt! We don't normally rate but after reading some reviews we had to express our opinion. The food is excellent and yes it takes time on the grill but that's a good thing because it's fresh. Never experienced poor quality lamb, no matter the variation. Staff friendly and totally familiar. Overpriced and pretentious place. The food is good and decoration is originale. However it is quite expensive thus we expect the food to be flaweless and the service to be friendly, and it was not the case. - The lady who served us made us feel bad for not ordering a starter - The lamb was good but the one we got served was probably not freshly cooked but left under a lamp for some time. Which i think is not acceptable for that price (58chf) - Another lady (this one friendly though) served us in a very indelicate way and splashed my friend’s hand with very hot potato gratin - We ordered half a liter of water, we got a full liter which we had to pay for it - We ordered 2 glasses of wine, we got 3dl instead and had to pay the full price for it. When we asked the lady said that’s all they serve. The service and the food was better in all the other restaurants we went in Zermatt and for better price.

It was a great evening! Everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to help you. The boss is also very committed. The lamb variation is only recommended. Great meat and a once in a lifetime experience. The little show at the end rounded off the evening perfectly. It's really something very special!

Our first dinner on Zermatt and a very welcoming one. The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is eclectically fun and conversation worthy. The food was delicious and unique in presentation and flavours that were mouth watering. Then they played a lovely video of Zermatt owner Dan Daniell sang his popular tunes which even us Canucks could sing along to. Thank you to all the staff who made it a most enjoyable, entertaining and memorable evening. Definitely a recommend if you are in Zermatt.

For nothing... all the reviews that give this gastronomic service are less than 5 stars. This crew around Dan Daniell not only strives to satisfy the guest - they also manage to do so. Anyone who behaves like a guest will be treated like a king - I won't mention the other version here. Really good lamb and amazing concert

Basically, I don't write reviews, but I would like to share this catastrophic experience from February 4th, 2022. After we arrived 5 minutes after the reservation time, we were already complained about and were given the table at the back of the "Schäumegge". The table for 4 was definitely too small for 5 people. It was dark, loud and narrow (going to the toilet was a sporting obstacle course). Drinks and appetizers were again served quickly (the only positive thing that evening). We were then made to wait 1 hour 45 minutes for the main course and the drinks service at our table was forgotten. It was hot and we almost died of thirst. The food was slapped onto the plate and didn't look that appetizing. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. The best for last, the restaurant manager: - He insulted the staff in front of all the guests - He was unfriendly - He made inappropriate remarks - He leaned on my shoulder without being asked The unmotivated service staff was excused because I would no longer like it if someone exposed me in front of everyone. It was a costly and interesting trip :)

Very special atmosphere with excellent cuisine.

I met nice Swiss people here. Dan Daniel was so sweet. I got to try the authentic beer. Dan gave me his music cd and I can’t wait to get home and listen to his music. The decor is funky and eclectic. Lots of photo opportunity and a great place for entertaining night out. Stop by this place and experience it yourself. I definitely loved it and it was highlight of my zermatt experience.

Absolutely an amazing experience we will never forget, we stopped in only looking for food but there was so much more. The food and service was impeccable, the way they served each dish was so extravagant. The food was delicious and great portions. Then there was a personal performance while we had dessert. If visiting Zermatt this place has to be one of the stops! Music was amazing.

The food was very good. Unfortunately, the so-called grilled meat cutter didn't serve the best part. It would also be desirable if this gentleman would rethink his way of dealing with colleagues and treat them more respectfully in the future. An absolute no go to treat an employee badly in front of guests! The owner of the house, Heini, was very personable and took care of his guests. A special location with good food. It's just a shame that a person has to push himself into the foreground and doesn't know how to deal with people.

Very disappointed with the visit. The manager of the restaurant was very unfriendly, he simply left our table while we were taking our order and didn't come back. Beforehand, they apparently messed up our reservation and wanted to squeeze six of us onto a table for five. When I asked why he just left while we were ordering and didn't come back, the manager said that Chez Heini probably wasn't the right restaurant for us. Whether we don't want to go. I think it's unworthy of such a restaurant. I assume it had to do with the fact that we were there as a family and also had two under 12 year olds with us. If this is “the place to be” and you as a family are not welcome in a cool restaurant, then we probably have a social problem. Best regards Sandra Gauer

Went here for the first time 12 years ago and have been here ever since. Then as now outstanding, both the starters and the lamb, an absolute highlight especially with the show at the end!

Very good restaurant experience: The food is really good and the location is very special. What makes an evening at Chez Heini outstanding, however, is the service and the atmosphere in the restaurant. The service staff is very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is relaxed.

The ambience is a unique experience. The staff very friendly, accommodating and entertaining. The food was excellent, I can highly recommend the specialty rack of lamb and lamb fillet (the classic from the wood fire).

The lamb was excellent, high price but decent portions. Rather strangely furnished restaurant, but with charm.

Should definitely check out this place when in Zermatt. The settings & decoration itself are worth the visit. The food is great - their specialty, the lamb, is a must-try 👍🏼 Fairly pricey but the settings & quality of food made it worthwhile. The 1 small blimey (hence 4, not 5 ⭐️ rating) experience was when one of the staffs gave us a rather unpleasant look when we ordered 2 mains & 1 starter for 2 adults & 2 young teens. We know & acknowledged that the order is little but we didn’t want to order too much as we are generally small eaters & the kids had some snacks before dinner. We ended up ordering another children’s meal (which is a sizeable portion) & struggled a bit at the end to finish our food. We didn’t want to order too much ending up with food wastage … we need to care & do more about our struggling planet earth 🌏

Mann muss einfach zu Chez Heini, wenn man in Zermatt ist. Sehr gute Fleisch Auswahl (v.a. Lamm), welche mit Kartoffel Gratin und Gemüse serviert werden. Dazu die Show von Dan, welche auch immer wieder sehr unterhaltsam ist (und auch geschätzt wird).
