Alpenhof Restaurant in Obergoms

Tucked away at the back of a small 'village' of hotels, the Alpenhof has a brilliant proprietor who really looks after his guests. Food and drink is excellent and reasonably priced but it's the hotels location that really makes it special. 5 minutes away are Grimsel Pass and Furka Pass, both of which give access to Susten Pass. Are there three better roads anywhere in the world? Incredible scenery, Iconic locations and, if you like driving, an amazing experience.

We were your guests on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 and went home extremely dissatisfied. The boss and the other staff were always smoking outside. Afterwards you smelled of smoke when it was served. Then the house's own Great Dane stayed in the restaurant (near the bar). That should not be. The food was also mediocre. In terms of taste, I could hardly distinguish carrots from Brussels sprouts or broccoli. The fries were certainly half-finished and then fried, and the schnitzel was probably too. We were looking for a normal alternative to the fancy food in our hotel and came across the restaurant in the Alpenhof Oberwald via Google reviews! It was really outstanding. We had Alpine rösti and salad. Both were great, plus the host’s hospitable and relaxed service! 100% recommendation!

Very good reception, the food was excellent. Room was clean. Very wide choice at breakfast. Staff is very friendly. Dogs are also welcome.
