Very friendly team and cool location! Always happy and card payments are also accepted. Smash Burger is now on the menu every day, no longer just on Wednesdays.

The "Astro Fries" impressed us with its Kimchi Fries and Pork Belly Fries - both dishes were great. The attentive and quick service during our visit was particularly positive. Unfortunately the ambience seemed a bit uninspired. Another criticism was that the website gave the wrong address. Overall I would give the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars.

As a vegetarian, the vegan fries options surprised me a lot!! Good service, happy customer. See you soon :)

We were very excited to try Astro Fries since we came all the way from Germany. However, we had to wait almost 30 minutes, which isn't a problem in itself, but we found it a shame that many were served and got their food before us. The portion (burger & fries as a menu) was unfortunately quite small for 30.-… The burger looked very appealing, but my patties were a bit burnt, although the taste was still okay. Unfortunately there was also very little sauce on the fries, which made them quite dry. Unfortunately it's a little overrated.🥲

Great burger, awesome roasted flavors. Fries are not bad but definitely overrated. Service was absolutely disorganized. We waited 25min for 2 burgers and 1 frieze. Everyone who was in line behind us was already eating.

Chilli cheese fried were not up to my expectation. Vegi burger was OK.

In my opinion one of the best burgers in Basel. The fries were delicious too. The ambience is rather simple and not really cozy, but it fits into the concept. The prices are rather high. What's surprising is that vegi costs more than meat. Still definitely worth one or more visits.

Unfortunately the burger was “mushy”… patties weren’t smashed and grilled enough, too much of the slice of cheedar and the bun was too soft… Higher quality cheese, toast the bun and fry the patty until crispy and then it will work out. So unfortunately there is no risk of repeating it. Fries were tasty, crispy and well seasoned. Improve the burger after then it can be something. Or leave it and in a few months you can enjoy a Baba Smashburger with me ;)

Smash burgers weren't a hit but generally not bad either. They look better than they taste. The chicken burger, however, was good. However, the fries were very limp and not crispy.

Fries Fresh AF & by far the best burgers in Basel, whether crispy crunchy chicken or brutal beef burgers are always a pleasure!

Really enjoyed it! Simple menu, everything was good. The fries naturally have to be good and they were and the smash burger was also very good. It is a fast food style, but upgraded burger which is very tasty. Great casual athmosphere as well and a nice surrounding area.

Treat yourself to great fries at Astro Fries. Be sure to try the kimchi fries. I cannot recommend the non-vegan curry sausage interpretation.

We tried AFC and Chilli Cheese Fries, both of them were really good, plenty of savoury good quality fries, perfectly prepared, we also had some Zwickl beer. The service was very pleasant and fast. Definitely a good place to have some fries with a twist.

I've never had such good fries before. And I come from Berlin and have often been to the Ruhr area. Every fork is a pleasure. The pork belly was incredibly tasty. For the first time in my career as a bistro tester, I give it a 9.9/10. Incredible.

We have bought five times from this restaurant. The quality, taste and amount of fries are rather unstable. For three times the fries tasted excellent, and they gave us a good amount of fries per box. The other two times, the fries were too salty, too over-fried, and only 70% of the usual amount. It's a bit frustrating.

Right now I am not totally satisfied. I ordered the chili cheese chicken burger. The buns are good, but the toasting could have been a tad lighter and the saucing heavier, it was a bit dry. But the chicken... The chicken was awful. Most likely thigh filet, which was deboned and cut not quite correctly, leaving in a few gristly, chewy, fatty pieces. Okay, no big deal, meat doesnt always come properly pre-cut. But man, the taste. Clean your fryers, guys, I beg you! The used fritteuse oil taste was smothering. Like biting into an overflowing ashtray. Like drinking the contents of a spittoon from a wild west tavern, full with chewed tobacco. However, I do give the benefit of the doubt and will give a second chance, due to all the raving reviews. TLDR; avoid the chicken burger. try everything else instead.

Delicious fried chicken burgers.

The best fries in town. The atmosphere is cool and inviting, the service and know-how of the employees are top and friendly. And the best thing of all is the Smash Burger once a month, I wish the burger was available more often. I would even say the Smash Burger is one of the best in Europe, right up there with the Dumbo Burger in Paris and worlds better than the one from Goldie’s in Berlin. More than just worth a visit.

Best selection of drinks including the best mate - shoutout @eltony I always feel like picking flowers inside and I always leave Astro with a warm heart and a full stomach. Even my chronic intestinal disease (tmi hehe) is always in a good mood afterwards. 10/10.

Large selection of good fries with lots of extras, such as truffles or fried chicken. The portions are generous. Simple atmosphere with music that is way too loud. At least you can sit outside in the summer, it's a little quieter there.

Perfect to-go food. The cashier spoke good English and was a very friendly and fun person. Got the AFC fries with a fried egg. While not nutritious, it’s definitely filling and definitely worth your money.

The staff were always friendly and the restaurant is wonderful! But the fries are unfortunately very disappointing for a fries shop. I've been there twice and it always fell short of expectations. The fries are simply not good enough for a restaurant that specializes in fries. There are other restaurants in Basel that offer much better fries. In addition, the fries consist mostly of small pieces. Leftovers from which you can no longer make fries because they are short and thin and become hard when fried. It is common for such small pieces to appear but not halfway through the bowl. Prices aren't exactly fair for a rather small portion and the taste (for a chip shop) isn't any better than at home.

Very tasty smash burger, which is only available once a month. Easily made it into the top 3 in Basel. However, I was a bit disappointed with the fries as I would have expected crispier fries and soft ones on the inside from a chip shop. Maybe that was an exception. Therefore 1 star deducted. Will come again.

Simple, cozy restaurant. Very nice fries and salad. The "Astro Ketchup Spicy" wasn't spicy but rather classic (too sweet) ketchup, either got it wrong or, in my opinion, poorly named ;-)

We had the truffle, pork belly and AFC fries. Was all very good. Mum, grandma, great grandma and baby all loved it. It was nice that there was a baby chair available too! Photos were taken after we had eaten some fries (that’s why pictures look a bit messy)

Very good fries with various delicious toppings. The very simple furnishings do not invite you to linger for a long time. Perfect for a quick lunch or an after-work snack. The operators are a friendly, cool young group. Not only the fries, the burgers are delicious too. Highly recommended.
