A hotel and restaurant for superior comfort

The food was good and nicely prepared. The service was attentive despite the restaurant being full. The waiting times for the food are relatively long.

Wonderful experience, sensational starter (goat cheese cream), excellent main course and wonderful home-brewed beer, a room with patina and dignity, interesting tour in the depths along part of the medieval city wall, it was relatively busy, service was therefore very busy and not immediately present as requested

We spent a lovely and very high-quality evening in the Atelier restaurant. It was a visit to a top restaurant, as one would wish: pleasant, attentive service, an enjoyable, simple and relaxing atmosphere and then the dishes that delight the eye and the palate. Simply a location that always manages to convey a profile. Cheers, keep it up!

From the first sight of the outside, the Atelier Teufelhof restaurant in Basel conveys an inviting atmosphere. The windows on Heubergstrasse immediately make you want to enter the restaurant. The friendly welcome at the reception and the directions to the restaurant already set high expectations. The service staff in the Atelier Teufelhof restaurant gave us an extremely friendly welcome and escorted us to the table. Particularly noteworthy was the attentive care given to a member of our group who was dependent on crutches. The immediate provision of a chair to put your foot up shows exceptional hospitality that goes far beyond the usual. The menu impresses with its clarity and fair price-performance ratio. The dishes are not only culinary highlights, but also a feast for the senses. The celery soup with its delicate but clearly noticeable apple flavor was an exquisite start. The highlight of the evening, however, was the main course: the most tender venison I have ever eaten, a true compliment to the kitchen team's culinary skills. The stay in the Atelier Teufelhof restaurant was thoroughly pleasant and the caring service provided by the service staff made a significant contribution to this. I can highly recommend the restaurant and look forward to my next visit.

Staff with a lot of room for improvement. The experienced eye in the background was clearly missing that evening. Sorry, but this can be done better without much effort!

Our table was where everyone had to go through, whether service, new guests or toilet visitors. But you're not necessarily looking for a romantic spot at lunchtime. The food was excellent, the service (despite the full restaurant) was friendly and accommodating. The whole process goes very quickly. You can choose between several menus, but you also have the option of ordering a la carte. We will be happy to consider it again.

Nice place. Presentation of dishes is excellent. The quality is quite good, but the steak was a bit small and not flavored well. Service decent but not amazing.

Great location with friendly service. The wine card and the menu are well furnished. Maybe I expected a bit more "Teufel" in the dishes. I had a thuna tataki and the beef filet.

Exceptional We visited beautiful Basel for our anniversary. In the evening we wanted to experience an enjoyable meal. We were warmly welcomed in the Atelier restaurant. We discovered a super sweet surprise on our table; a congratulations card and a small gift on the occasion of our special day, very thoughtful. The menu was a real treat. One course tastier than the other. We were given excellent advice about the wine accompaniment. Overall the atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. The staff were very accommodating and we felt comfortable and in good hands throughout the evening. This definitely won't be the last visit here!

A great restaurant in Basel's old town. The Teufelshof is a special place with a lot of flair. The food is worth its high price: creative, high quality, beautifully served.

It's too expensive for me personally and the potatoes in the menu weren't very good, they were too hard!

A pleasant place for festive occasions. A small but interesting menu is offered. What was very pleasant was that you could swap side dishes or vegetables between the dishes. A very extensive and exciting wine list. The digestive from the big bottle with the pink pipette is a cool show. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We had a successful evening.

We sat outside where the atmosphere is very cozy for a warm summer night. We had a starter and a main dish each and were very happy with how lovely the food was presented as well as how delicious it was. The service was also very nice and attentive. Overall would recommend

One of the top places in Basel since more than 30 years!

This restaurant used to be good so I am doubly disappointed by our dinner. The dishes are very prettily presented dishes but the cooking skills are lacking. In addition, there were two incidents that are simply unacceptable in a restaurant of this price category. Four of us ordered the Angus steak (2nd most expensive dish on the menu) and we were asked how done we wanted them. We all picked a different doneness from rare to done. Waitress must have served them randomly because we all ended having a different doneness that we had asked. For example I asked for rare and I got the done one. The wine (red): we sent the first one back because it had a lot of sediment. The second one (different wine) has just as much sediment. We just gave up after that and drank the (not very good) wine.

Wonderful place.Enjoyed a great gourmet cutlet with fried potatoes and kohlrabi. Very fine and very down to earth.

The food was very good, but the quantity was rather limited for the price. Very pleasant atmosphere, you could have a good chat. Friendly service, with room for improvement (didn't know their own beers; only knew after ordering that the dessert was no longer available). For this price range I expect a little more for the fifth star.

A recommended destination from A-Z. You respond to customer requests and look for a solution if someone reports food intolerances. Solutions are sought through dialogue. The service is very professional, friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. The customer is taken seriously. I can highly recommend this restaurant!

Amazing food and amazing service! Very cute place as well.

The starter and the main dish were delicious! A lot of different flavors, a very nice combination. The meat was tender and melting in the mouth, and was accompanied with a delicious sauce and puree. The service is quick and competent. I am very pleased by that. Only negative thing, with all honestly, The dessert is awful. I didn't even finish it, I ate only one bite and it was enough. It is such a shame as it is the last part of the meal. Nevertheless, I would recommend this restaurant for its various starters and dishes, but not for the dessert.

I celebrated my 40th birthday here. I really enjoyed the evening and enjoyed the food. The only point of criticism: the waiter neglected to refill the wine.

We had such a good dinner . Cheasnut soup and steak tartare was very delious . They cooked a little bit more than enough my steak but it was still tender . Service is also 5stars !

Between 3 and 4 stars because the sauces used were too strong for the food they accompanied: chive sauce too strong for the meat duet, Bernese sauce too sour for the lamb. Lamb was not tender either that is not acceptable for the price (50 chf)

Superb food and friendly service

We were here on a nice summer evening and were sitting in the backyard which was beautiful and calm. The front part kf the restaurant was very busy and noisy, but the waiter was super friendly and without us asking was guiding us to the calm area. Food is delicious, a mixture of Suisse and French cuisine. Wine selection is huge Prices are high but not outrageous.

As a neighbor it weirdly took us years until we dined at the Bel Etage. I will never know why we waited that long - it was honestly one of the best culinary experiences I’ve had in Basel - if not anywhere ever. The food & wine.. exquisite and incredibly tasty. But the service and the atmosphere are what make it really special. Just the right balance. Can’t wait to return someday soon.

Very pleasant, attentive, great ambience and good cuisine

Great restaurant - the studio completely convinced us. We had an online reservation and got a table on one of the two terraces. We really liked the atmosphere and the service was very friendly. After the starter, a heavy storm came and all guests were escorted into the restaurant interior very helpfully and without any problems. As starters we had a very successful Vitello Tonato and smoked salmon trout with honey mustard sauce, cucumber relish, apple jelly and mesclun salad, a very harmonious dish. Main courses were the goat's cream cheese raviolis with scampi and spinach, a very successful dish and the ravioli dough was extremely thin. The second main course was the studio classic, a veal chop from a local butcher with fried potatoes, kohlrabi and a wild pepper jus. The chop had an outstanding taste quality and the preparation was perfect and tasty. At the end there was a homemade, very vanilla-like vanilla ice cream. We had a pleasant evening in a beautiful setting with friendly service.

Great service, nice place - but the main courses during Art Basel as well as 2 months ago were really just not great at all. Meat dry, vegetarian version completely tasteless. A pity!

No inspiration, unambitious and boring cuisine with no flair or taste! Actually a nice restaurant with lots of art, the menu reads well, nice idea to be able to freely choose 3 courses as a menu for 79 CHF, but the taste is simply sad, a shame !

A visit to the Basel carnival is highly recommended. The flour soup is the best in all of Basel!

Great food and service!!! We went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday. They had the table beautifully decorated and chocolate was offered as gift. It made my husband very happy. Will recommend this place to everyone!!!

Exceptional restaurant. I tried the steak. It was tender and flavourful cooked to perfection, with a very good Chianti. The waitress was extremely friendly and very professional. The setting is excellent for romantic dinner or professional gatherings. Apparently you can buy paintings on site.

We celebrated our 19th anniversary at Restaurant Atelier and they really went out of their way to make it a special occasion. The service and attention they showed us exceeded expectations. But it truly was the food that stole the show. Flavorful dishes that truly added to a special evening!

Cramped seating, stuffy air, no open window and a dozen larger candles significantly reduced the enjoyment of eating. Of course, Covid fears play a role. Why aren't virus filters used in this cramped location?

We had a wonderful experience tonight. From the kit aperitif to the grappa digestif, we loved it. The polenta and the glazed vegetables that went with the entree, were very well executed. The chefs in the kitchen know what they are doing. If you are in Basel, you should make a reservation to this restaurant.

Heavenly food at “Zum Teufel”. So in the “Atelier” restaurant in the “Zum Teufel” hotel. The best tuna tataki I've ever eaten. The cozy ambience in the shady courtyard on a hot Sunday lunchtime was unbeatable. The staff was authentic, personable and very friendly. It couldn't be better😁👍.

We had a pleasant dinner in this restaurant but were nevertheless a bit disappointed. No great originality or impressive tastes and some dishes (e.g. the very average falafels) are insanely overpriced for what you got in your plate. On the other hand the olive raviolis were very good. Good service. Not a bad evening at all but would not return.

Das Atelier ist für mich in Basel der perfekte Ort, um gehobene Küche zu einem fairen Preis zu geniessen. Wir wurden rundum kulinarisch verwöhnt. Meine Frau hatte das Doradenfilet und ich das Black Angus Rindsfilet und beides war vorzüglich. Auch der Teufelhof Dessertteller ist sehr zu empfehlen!Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

This was my second visit here and just as good, I took a friend for her birthday lunch. They have good COVID measures in place and staff are very observant of rules. Couldn’t fault the food and wine- veal chop, venison and cheesecake. The staff realized we were celebrating a birthday so the cheesecake came out with a candle and happy birthday written on the plate. They also gave a card and a little gift of their homemade preserve. They really went above and beyond to make it special during what are very challenging times for everyone. Thank you!
