Aux Merveilleux de Fred in Luzern

Stopped by this small café for coffee break. Visited Lucerne on Good Friday so all the shops except F&B were closed, but this café provided some solace 💛 Got a cappuccino and chocolate cramique after reading good reviews of the pastries. Indeed the cramique was really good – soft, fluffy, mildly buttery and chocolatey 🫶 It’d be more bomb if they pop it in the microwave for 10s ☺️ Cappuccino was hot and milky 👍

Super good pastries and wonderful. Very good for a coffee on site or on the terrace.

The rolls and the coffee are the absolute highlight here. My personal favorite are the chocolate rolls. Unfortunately, the waitress called me on my first name, which I found rather unpleasant. Otherwise great for having a drink together and chatting. also rather quiet here.

Hands down the freshest and most delicious cramique I’ve had and at a very reasonable price. You can take your pastry to go and enjoy it in the beautiful surroundings of Hirschenplatz.

This caffé is amazing! I live in Luzern and it’s one of my favourite caffès ! The chocolate brioche buns and hot chocolate are so deliciouss! Definitely recommend!

A beautiful corner to relax and enjoy. You would have loved to try everything there. A huge minus because of the paper cups and the dirt. I would actually give it three stars, but the other points outweigh them.

Great location in the middle of Lucerne’s old town. Ok coffee, but nothing special. You come here for the fluffy merengue in different creative variations…

Delicious pastries. I tried the one with the chocolate chip and really loved it.

Everything was very good. Unfortunately the air conditioning was set so cold that we had to move away. It would be great if the climate was a little less intense. Thank you for fulfilling a customer request.

Perfect little dream cafe. Server was so lovely, the brioche was incredible and the decor was beautiful. Definitely pop in if you’re passing by!

The baked goods etc. are quite ok BUT sorry, the supposed bosses don't understand a word of German, staff are made fun of in front of customers. When I asked if I could have a napkin, the “boss” said NO TIME. Staff is under pressure, it seems, apart from how unfriendly the bosses are with the employees. Oh dear, I don't want to work there. hugiene also seems to suffer a lot in this store, everything is very dirty. But it seems to me that here, too, people are just making quick money without taking staff into account. I can't recommend this store sorry

The journey is worth it - croissants (peaks) - pain au chocolat - chocolate yeast pieces - everything soft, buttery and delicious. Coffee is also delicious and all in all recommended! If you're longing for your favorite bakery in France, you have to come here. It is baked fresh almost all day long. Thumbs up for Fred!

October 2023 Americano good Warm croissant Mini merveilleux (les cramiques) — unique and delicious. Small or larger

The bread and meringues were DELICIOUS! We preferred the regular sugar bread over the chocolate. We also had the white chocolate and hazelnut meringues. The staff was super friendly to us. Couldn’t ask for more! Prices were reasonable.

We tried the wonderful dessert ecsantrique in Beautiful Lucerne. Freshly made in front of us with cherry cream meringue! Something else!!! A dream!

The people are not only friendly, but also very skilled pastry chefs: the pastries are prepared in the establishment! The hot chocolate is also delicious!

Very fine brioches, so delicious. All the other things also look very fine. The staff is very friendly. What I also think is a shame that they only offer paper cups. OK for take-a-way. But for drinking on site, a cup would be more sustainable. I would love to come back to buy fine pastries.

Only cafe I found in the old town that was open on an early Monday morning while it was pouring rain. The inside is beautifully decorated, the man working was super friendly and welcoming. I ate, no kidding, one of the best pain au chocolat’s I’ve ever had (probably helped I got it fresh first thing in the morning) and a really good capuccino as well. I see people are complaining about the paper cups but honestly it didn’t matter to me at all. There’s a good atmosphere in the shop and the coffee inside the cup was phenomenal.

Everything is fine... EXCEPT: fine coffee in a paper cup and delicious delicacies on paper plates don't fit the atmosphere. What a shame for the beautiful restaurant!!! I also think about our environment 🙏

This is gonna be THE TASTIEST BRIOCHE IN YOUR LIFE! I'd give 50 stars just for the plain brioche! Melts in your mouth like no other. 🤤🤤🤤 The chocolate one is yummy as well, and their sweets too. I wish they were worldwide so everyone can taste a piece of haven.

Friendly bakery. What we ate came straight from the oven, it was just too good and their “Merveilleux” specialty is a superb discovery!

Authentic French pastries made with love by hand. I can only recommend the brioche au chocolate would be amazing, so airy and the chocolate wasn't skimped on and the price was appropriate for this high quality! <3

Really great and delicious desserts, brioche and other specialties. Very nice staff. Somehow the concept with the noble and high-quality specialties doesn't fit with the paper cups for coffee and the take-away character, but it is certainly recommended

Just discovered! Incredibly delicious, airy chocolate brioche. My son and I really enjoyed it. And the patesserie itself looks incredibly beautiful and elegant. You immediately feel like you are in Paris! Congratulations on a new, beautiful restaurant for the city of Lucerne

Very nice cafe in the city center. The only thing that bothered me was that there were no cups, just paper cups. Still very pleasant to sit outside and enjoy a coffee.

Best brioche in town! Until recently, 'Fred' was only available in Lausanne, Geneva or France. Now finally in Lucerne – so delicious!!

Excellent service and amazing good food!

The food is very good, but the place had dirty tables, flies and bees everywhere. I counted 3 bees on top of a meringue. There was no caffeine-free coffee and no lactose-free milk. They only serve on disposable plates and cups, without table service. It's really a shame, because the food is of incredible quality, but the service leaves something to be desired. Food 5/5, service 1/5. It's worth it if it's "to go".

Twenty days in Europe and these croissants are the best I've had. Don't miss out!!

Best bakery in Lucerne! Wonderful bread and sweets for young and old! Eating a pain au chocolat outside with a delicious coffee and enjoying the old town, what more could you want?

Coffee from a paper cup, food on a paper plate. There are no dishes, even if you eat in the restaurant. That's a shame and doesn't fit. Cash payment through a coin-operated machine, otherwise only by card. Coffee was still very good and fine croissants.

Excellent homemade cake, hygiene is 100%, the saleswoman does not come into contact with the ladies, you can see for yourself how the products are made. They have a nice seating area inside and a terrace. We really liked it and I think I will always stop here when I go to Lucerne.

You have to brob this delicacy. Close your eyes - heavenly delicious - light and airy. *MASTERPIECES* It's a shame that no dishes are offered at the tables in the stylish local. Coffee is delicious but in a paper cup. The desserts are eaten in a small cardboard box with a bamboo spoon. Since the whole thing is registered as takeaway. Be sure to test it anyway*

Wherever you come from and you are visiting Luzern, this is a must do ! Aux Merveilleux de Fred has iconic dishes that you can only find in their shop, such as the merveilleux, the « cramiques » (chocolate is my favorite) and above all, their mythical waffles ! Wether you are a vanilla lover or you prefer subtle notes of rhum, they got you covered. The place just opened and you can already enjoy the sun on their cute terrace or stay warm inside during the winter. The chandelier hanging from ceiling is a signature item of the brand, and it is different in each shop. Always clean, always delicious, I’ll be back very soon ! 🙌🏼
