Super service, pleasant environment, fairytale atmosphere🩷

Café Walz offers a couple of Swiss snacks and dishes, which one can enjoy in the back of the location. The atmosphere is similar to a canteen not exactly a café. It is positive, that they don't accept cards for payment, at least it is written outside. Once you enter you can pay by card, but only at the counter not when you eat inside seated. Well, either one does not accept card or one does. This "mixed" use is confusing 🤔. Anyway, the Käsewähe was delicious as well as the Rivella "red". Recommended for canteen-style café lovers who have always cash money at hand...😉

Feeling disrespected from service from a staff (old woman). We came around 12:30pm and the cafe closed at 1pm, so we decided to buy drink & cake for take away. While waiting my friend went to toilet, I tried to taste the drink and she came to tell me pay more if drink there because I paid for Take away price with unacceptable attitude. She didn’t mention anything about different price, we chose take away just because they closed soon. Nothings complain about food & drink except her attitudes. And that ruins away everything good about this Cafe. You can find around many Cafe & Restaurants with good food and special welcoming service, not this Cafe.

Disappointing!! This cafe has a prime location but when we ordered the gulyas from the “Tages menu” walking to our table I noticed that gulyas cans are being opened and poured in a pot to be warmed up. When I confronted the staff one said that he does not understand me and the other one a middle age women said that I did not ask if the gulyas is home made and we should leave. Unacceptable!! To resale a can of gulyas soup in a cafe 10x at it original price and how on earth J should think that the food what I order comes from the can. So there bakery stuff is from the frozen section from some supermarket? Is that even legal? After visiting this beautiful city we left with a bitter taste and very suspicious about the Swiss hospitality and food sector.

After 45 km of cycling we arrived in Stein am Rhein and settled down here. The service was friendly and the cake and homemade iced tea were very tasty. The card payment worked perfectly inside and outside and without any complaints. We then picked up some rye bread from the store. Mmm, very nice.

Cake and coffee was delicious. First says card payment is not possible. However, since I was only using my smartphone and couldn't withdraw money from the bank opposite, I was suddenly able to pay at the terminal inside. Really really bad service. It's about 2% fees... just add 40 Rp to the cake and let people pay by card in 2023...

I was there yesterday at lunchtime, sitting outside on the town hall square. Had coffee and a strawberry tart... the service was really nice, I really enjoyed the place. The tart was a dream. Lovely again.

Initially only wants cash. Complicated service. Nice atmosphere outside. Bleak inside. Toilet different. But the cinnamon rolls and coffee are good.

Unfortunately, I experienced a pure rip-off. At the counter it said that payment by card was possible. I wanted to do this after coffee with cake. I was refused this on the grounds that this only applies to goods that were purchased and not consumed there. I pointed out that this was written on the card and nothing else. Apparently there are 2 cash registers and billing is therefore not possible (pure nonsense). If I didn't have any cash, I should go to the bank to get cash (note from my side: additional charges apply fees etc.). Normally you should call the Stein am Rhein city police for such procedures, especially since a conversion rate of 1:1 was required when paying in euros, which means a disadvantage of around 10% compared to paying by card in francs. Strangely enough, when paying in euros you could get change from the cash register for goods purchased at the counter. Funny, pure rip-off through outrageous locations.

Great location in center of town for a coffee. Their cakes were a bit of a disappointment, with dry biscuit cake and lots of gelatine on fruit pie.

Everything was top notch, delicious food, nice service and a good ambience. There is one star deduction because you cannot pay by credit card. Actually a must in a tourist hot spot like Stein am Rhein.

Every time I go to the Walz branch in Migros around 9:00 a.m. there are no more butter croissants and I always have to go to the old town! How about you bring a few more there??? The fact that it goes out at 9:00 is definitely weak. I think it's a shame because otherwise the quality is very good.

Rolling at Migros Stein am Rhein: It hasn't been possible to pay by card since it opened, what century are we in? The Stone Age is over... Sandwich bought: 1 slice of ham, lettuce browned and almost fermenting, bread rock hard,... That was my last visit to Walz, in the future I'll get my sandwiches from the gas station shop again, at least they're edible...

Always very friendly staff and always delicious. Please introduce card payment (applies to both in the city and especially to the new roller at Migros), after all we are already in 2019 ;-) Card payment is not only more hygienic but also easier for the customer and, if used correctly, is much quicker all.

The best place, with politely staff, very taste bread and sweets! I was every morning in my holidays to take my breakfast and to drink the hot homemade chocolate which it was the best!!! The manager for the staff it was so polite and friendly with all!

Unfortunately, Germans are probably not particularly welcome here. When the waitress at the counter noticed on Boxing Day that we were from Germany (no Swiss dialect) she became very unfriendly (insolent). Shameful for the Alpine country...
