Bäckerei Schwyter in St. Gallen

We wanted to have a quick coffee, but “short” didn’t mean anything. 30' wait until someone came. The store was - mind you - not full.

I can't comment on how the food tasted as unfortunately we weren't served. On Friday afternoon the café wasn't even half full. There was really little going on. We sat directly in front of the counter, three saleswomen stood behind the counter. We tried to buy something from them twice, unfortunately without success. Anyone who sits down has to wait for service. We stared at the dirty dishes in front of us for 15 minutes, then we left. A pity...

Last week I spontaneously bought a Vaud bread. It was great. Some of the finest bread we've ever had at home. Airy and fresh on the inside, crispy, well baked on the outside and a wonderful aroma. I will probably have to go back to St. Gallen especially for this bread.

Very nice bakery. Edibles great. Unfortunately, the service in the Resti was totally overwhelmed. Several people left after waiting for over 45 minutes. Actually, it's a shame.

Actually a very nice bakery... but run with absolutely no love. Dirty tables on Monday morning, crumbs on the floor everywhere. A complete mess. And the benches and chairs cold and uncomfortable. And the staff just chatting. You have the feeling of not being welcome here. Very unfortunate.........

The waitress was impatient when we asked about details in the menu. The girl at counter was much better. In general food is fair and service is poor.

The staff somehow didn't feel like it. We sat at a table outside. From the beginning until we left, the plates and glasses from the guests in front of us were always on the small table. The staff didn't even take the things away when we got our drinks.

Pastries were very good. But the service was far too slow.

Friendly bakery that has become even more inviting thanks to the renovation. And best of all: the bakery is now also open on Sundays. Bravo!

When you arrive in the store, the first thing you notice is the extremely small selection of sweet pastries compared to the competition. When ordering in the store, you were immediately told that if you wanted to eat in the restaurant you should order from the waitress outside - you immediately feel welcome. Once we sat down outside, the service person came straight away, but since there was no physical card (just a QR code), I kindly pointed out that we would have to scan this code first to find out what the offer was. Instead of verbally describing the offer to us or bringing a (probably non-existent) menu to the table, the waitress then ignored us for ages. Since smokers were coming to the neighboring table, we sat down, we hadn't been able to place the order yet anyway (supposedly it wasn't possible in the store - although the two employees there were rather quiet and the waitress didn't help with the preparation either food assisted). The new smokers were then served directly. The woman from the service noticed the change of seats because she signaled to me that she would be coming to us soon. But when a new couple sat down directly in front of her, they were served first again. So then I wanted to go into the restaurant to order, because the waitress was probably afraid I would complain and intercepted me. Since I didn't feel like having a discussion, we left the cafe and went to Gschwend where we were served very friendly and without waiting.

It was Saturday, September 4, 2023 around 3:45 p.m. Outside in the street café, guests sat at several tables and waited for service. After about 15 minutes of waiting, two guests entered the bakery and politely asked when they would be served. There were four young employees behind the counter, the only thing they did was continue to chat comfortably. After about 25 minutes, the guests gradually left the tables and left. Dear Managing Director, that really can't be the case. Please discuss this incident at the next staff meeting.

The bakery has become very beautiful after the renovation🥰 There is still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to service. I think it will be fine after a certain amount of time.

Great place to relax with a nice coffe and get some work done. Especially with the new seating in the upper part 👍

I bought a foccacia with organo today, I was told how good it was... To be honest, I've never bought such lousy bread in a bakery and I'm very disappointed! Totally dry, bland and like it was from the day before... In the future I will get my bread elsewhere!

This afternoon we were ignored in the street cafe right next to the entrance. Guests who came later and knew the waitress were served straight away. At least a “Grüezi” would be something. We continued walking without consuming.

Recently I was able to get to know the Schwyter bakery. I received very friendly service, but I found the prices a bit expensive.

I go there every time and I'm impressed every time. Only to recommend!!!

On December 30th Ordered “meat cheese with potato salad” at lunchtime to eat in the catering area. What we received was more like "potato salad with meatloaf"... that's because the piece of meatloaf was so small that it was almost impossible to find. Since the potato salad also seemed to be from the day before or otherwise simply not prepared well (too dry, not cooked through, too cold since it came directly from the display), the enjoyment was limited. There were two of us - the second portion was of the same quality. Including a drink for 18.80 CHF - you'll be eating a kebab again soon. You want to be friendly - the service definitely was, maybe a little clumsy - but that couldn't save the overall experience. To make matters worse, the dining area was being rearranged and this was quite disruptive while ordering and eating.

Lots of choice of different menus and food. Prices okay.

Apricot flat cakes are the best here on Neugasse ❤️🇨🇭👍🏻 We are regular customers and also love the lasagne and the braid Thanks to the team, they are always active and friendly ❤️🤩🥰

Pro City vouchers apparently have to be fully implemented (not in other St. Gallen bakeries) and in some cases there is no option to pay by card. The most laborious bakery in St. Gallen. But it's not that bad; It's not really tasty either.

There was no soap or disinfectant in the toilet and I found the response from the staff when I reported this rude. Apparently only the cleaning lady is qualified to refill the soap. It's a shame that you get such an answer in the time of Corona.

It's quite comfortable here. The baked goods and eatables are affordable

I was back in Switzerland after many years and of course I visited the Schwyter bakery. The employees at the market square are nicer than at the Neudorf branch. 😋

Unfortunately the tables outside are very dingy and dirty. That's a real shame because it's the only way to drink coffee there.

Fine bakery also with a large selection for lunch. Appreciation that there was seating.

I just went to buy a delicious bread

I always go there when I'm in CH. am.

When I recently wanted to buy bread in the Schwyter branch on Neugasse St. Gallen, there were several pigeons inside the branch. This kind of thing is an absolute no-go when it comes to food and especially unpackaged food. I lost the desire to buy bread when I saw this. When I asked the saleswoman about the pigeons, I was told that unfortunately they are powerless against these animals and that they always find their way into the bakery. So if the problem has already been identified, then the branch management/ownership should take urgent action.

The post office and the bakery, what more could you want

Hello dear Schwyz team. The next time you only have egg filling for half a roll, they won't sell it anymore... or at least not for the full price! I think it's a rip off... and next time I'll only pay half!! Otherwise it's cheating or what do you think if the egg roll is filled with egg just to help? Unfortunately you didn't respond to the emails and messages on Facebook either. That's why I'm trying this way.

Be careful when eating at Schwyter: I paid CHF 15.75 for 1 mixed salad + 1 Spintalt flatbread + 1 glass of tap water. Since I often took the goods with me in the past, I was surprised at the amount. Has it been opened again? They have different prices in the cafe. They charge CHF 1.80 for a glass of tap water. I'm increasingly like many people. I no longer shop at Schwyter. You'll see where this leads when you go there again. The racks and displays are no longer as well filled as they were a few months ago. It's a shame that the new owners are running this company down.

I bought a pure spelled bread, which is relatively expensive for its size, which I can accept with a wheat-free bread. Cut it open the next morning...I've rarely eaten such dry spelled bread. It's a shame for the work, a shame for my time and a shame for the money. I will bake myself again.

Small selection after a few weeks you'll be sick of the sandwiches... I don't like croissants at all. Service but very friendly and competent. But all in all I can only give it two stars...

Very unfriendly staff. I was there around 10:30 a.m. and saw Fleischkäs on the counter. Since there was no one behind it, I asked the sales manager (assuming) if it was ready and I could order. Answer: Yes, logically, otherwise it wouldn't be there! Canapes were not fresh but from the day before.
