He seemed to respond to my question in a somewhat curt and unfriendly manner. However, this was only a minor inconvenience and did not affect the positive experience with the other staff. What struck me particularly positively was that the bakery outlet has a selection of day-old products that are offered at a cheaper price. This is a great way to enjoy quality baked goods at an affordable price. Overall, I can recommend the bakery outlet in Basel.

Unfortunately the quality has deteriorated considerably, some of the items are older than stated. Unfortunately, hardly anyone sees how the goods are handled behind the scenes. Work is done without gloves, empties are never cleaned, everything passes through many unwashed hands, everything that is not packaged is very disgusting. Actually everything is unpackaged because for some reason you are not allowed to take packaged items with you. The price has also increased enormously for the fact that you get it for free. I recently bought a croissant (definitely older than 2 days, rock hard), a small Sable about 2 cm tall and a small Silserli. Total 9 Fr I can get it fresh cheaper at the Coop next door. The whole thing was really so old and disgusting that I brought it back. Now that I have seen the path the truth takes, I will never buy anything there again. The sandwiches from the day before were not always fresh, but definitely edible and good. Advice: It's better to avoid the store on Monday, because sandwiches and sandwiches from Saturday to Monday are often still available for purchase in the refrigerated section! Avoid tuna and shrimp rolls, there is a real risk of salmonella! Service is friendly and helpful. Cheap vegetables and fruits on offer that big stores wanted to throw away, food waste!
