Food nothing special and it can get overcrowded, impossible to speak.

Pre theatre dinner at Balthazar at 5 pm on Monday. Arrived to be promptly shown to the table. Dining room is always immaculate just as in New York. Server Jonathan introduced himself. Huge smile. Generous personality. We ordered. All went smoothly. Food was tasty and well presented. Dessert quality could have been better. Jonathan checked on us several times to ensure all was good. Upon leaving, 3 female staff members were chatting at the hostess desk. Didn’t bother to say anything… please inform them that the “ Goodbye is just as important as the Hello!”

I am a big fan of Balthazar NYC, so I had to go check out Balthazhar London! The ambiance is very similar adding to this the amazing contribution to the Parisian experience on that Tuesday evening with live band OCharmers with singer Oriana, playing the Best of the French Repertoire! The interior design is the exact replica of the SoHo, NY location. A must go in London!

Steak frites here were very good. Nice option for a pre-theater fancy dinner. What I want to compliment in particularly was the hostess. The place was mobbed even around 5pm and she was chill and very attentive. I imagine it’s a very very difficult job with a mixed clientele and the hostess just seemed really great at her job. Also man the bathrooms were nice but they were quite a walk.

A lovely evening, great food and service. Not cheap but its Covent Garden so not surprising. Wines rather expensive.

Great bistro nestled in the heart of Covent Garden. Went there for lunch with a large group - has the ambience and decor of an authentic Parisian bistro (there was live music - Edith Piaf covers). The food was good and portions generous. The wine list caters to all budgets. Staff were very attentive. The venue caters to large and small groups. All in all a nice venue.

Brilliant restaurant in Covent Garden. I have been several times. Always lively and buzzy. On Wednesdays, they have love jazz, which is lovely. We checked in, and the table wasn't ready ao we had a drink at the bar, we were definitely forgotten about as later u had a missed call from the restaurant presumably thinking I was a no show. We were seated and had a gorgeous two courses with lovely wine. Another forgotten item, but the lovely waitress served us a glass of champagne on the house, which was a lovely touch. We had camambert. Crab and Steak Tartare to start, all fantastic, and the mains were all delightful, too. This is such a gem in Covent Garden I can't recommend highly enough and forgive any little mistakes.

The good and the atmosphere were amazing but I can't say the same for service. I needed to ask four different staff members before anyone could find our table's attendant. The waiter serving to the next table didn't even shy from making it clear that he could not be bothered.

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere.

Chose this place for brunch. Everything we tried was delicious and the prices on food were pretty good, considering the location. However drinks are somewhat pricey. Also, they need some organisational improvement; we were told that the next table would be available in 1h45 (not with the best attitude if I'm honest) and ten minutes later we walked in again and a table was available.

Our Outstanding Tender of the Bar Our bartender, Archie, was exceptionally skilled, friendly, and professional. I can say, with all sincerity that he was, and remains, the prettiest bartender in all London, and he smells amazing.

It looks like Balthazar in New York City but it's different. I still enjoyed it. The food and service where good.

Disappointing. I've been meaning to try this place for a while now. Sadly, it didn't meet my expectations. There were 2 of us and when my friend arrived, she was told we could only stay for 1.5 hours, even though when I booked, the system clearly told me I had the table for 2 hours. On my arrival, the woman at the desk blanked me and started dealing with the man behind me who had pushed in. My friend had the chicken and enjoyed it. I had the fish which was pretty bland and no crispy skin on it. The fries were greasy. Our waitress was not the most attentive. The desserts were very good. We made sure we stayed the full 2 hours and I would have called the manager if we were pushed out after 1.5 hours. Overall, the experience was average. Not what you expect from a place that positions itself as higher end.

Great place. The atmostphere was great, the food and the staff as well. Value for money!

Really enjoyed an anniversary meal here. We had a shared lobster as a starter, a steak frites with a side salad (partner) and a baked fennel seabass with a side of green beans (myself). We shared a blueberry soufflé for dessert. The lobster wasn't amazing, but everything else, particularly the seabass, was very good and more than made up for it. Nice touch to bring a profiterole for the occasion. Service was a delight all-round. We would come back.

Fantastic place to eat out with friends or family. It's a bit noisy, perhaps, but it does not prevent conversation for small groups. The day we went, there was live music (classic piano bar songs). Staff is professional and efficient. Food is great.

We attended for dinner on A Wednesday jazz night. The food was great, especially the steak and the baba dessert. The ambience is nice, but the place was so crowded that the noise was so loud and you could not enjoy your meal and live music. Unfortunately, the service was a big disappointment. We left waiting for our reservation for 15’, in a small waiting area with waiter’s passing all the time. Other people who arrived later than us , they were given a table immediately. Also, it took a while to order food and the tables next to us who sat later than we did, they ordered and served before we did!! Generally, the staff is friendly but the service felt very disorganized.

I’m a cocktail lover, I love to travel around Europe to the best restaurants and bars to try new cocktails and food, And this time I had a pleasure to taste one of the best negronis in Baltazar, I was served by this lad Vinnie, very charismatic, charming and love what he does, he made me this amazing drink I will Definitely Be back

Really tasty food - but quite expensive considering it’s very cramped seating and service takes ages. Not too many vegetarian options but there are a few.

Rude and power-happy manager and an aggressive doorman. Post opera, we arrived and were denied alcohol at the table, with that accusation that our group “looked intoxicated”, having sat through two hours of Wagner without having consumed any alcohol. We were not being served, we were being judged at the whim of an insecure prick.

Brilliant restaurant and bar in the true heart of Covent Garden. Staff and service are truly excellent, food is top shelf and perfectly prepared and presented. Always an amazing experience, cocktails and wine menu are exceptional.

Gorgeous place for a nice lunch! The onion soup is my go-to. Claudio is a great host and provided wonderful service throughout the meal. Highly recommend!

Second time here. Food was beautiful. The service was very slow. We chose the pre fixe because we had somewhere to be. We gave up after the main and didn’t bother with pudding because it was taking so long. Arrived at 3pm and got the bill at 6pm. Which is mad for two courses and a bottle of wine. They need to tighten up on their processes.

Nice brasserie in Covent Garden, quality of food is really high, not a huge selection of traditional french dishes but everything is good and staff is nice! Bluberries sufflè was delicious! athmosphere is really parisienne. A bit noisy.

Can't fault the attentive service and excellent food. Definitely recommend.

Food was good, but not as good as the price they put on it. It's a viby place, particularly nice for drinks, lunch or dinner. It's not best equipped for breakfast (relatively limited options). All in all good experience, but slightly overpriced.

Great place to pop in for a quick cocktail but if it's around theater opening hour, beware of the crowds.

I haven't eaten food there last time i visit that place. 1 star just because I cant say anything good or bad about it. We were sitting at the bar, and it took them a while to get our order. Although cocktails were delicious.

A very interesting situation. I ordered lunch today and asked for Perrier as a drink because it was a French restaurant. The waiter did not understand what it was. I explained, I said mineral water, he said there is only carbonated water.

We had a reservation and had to wait as they couldn't find a table for us. Coats took ages to come out after dinner. We had to ask two different girls at reception. Was crowded and loud. Food was delicious, as always, but unfortunately, waiters seemed distracted and not really coordinated.

Amazing food, ambiance and atmosphere ! The food was unbelievable, sooooo delicious . I'm highly critical and fussy about food, and i have nothing but good things to say about Balthazar. Also the waiter staff was so lovely and professional. The fish and soufflé were out of this world delicious

We were there on 2/21. The place is beautiful, magnificent location, magnificent presentation of food and flavor. The negative was that we booked and they put us at a table away from everything with no one around, we asked to change tables or to one with a sofa, they told us that that area is closed and they offered us the one next to us, we stayed in the one we were in. After 2 minutes they began to seat customers in the area we requested. Very bad service from the person who received us. The waiters were fine but because of the table we did not enjoy it 100%

We spent a family dinner at here. It was Saturday and full of people going to theatres. Food and service remain good quality.

I had dinner in this quaint French themed restaurant with a friend of mine one evening, Greeted very kindly by the receptionist they accompanied us to our table, a relatively small table and very close to other people, very good food mainly French cuisine, quick and very kind service. To spend a good evening and excellent.

A really enjoyable lunch in a great atmosphere created by the staff.

Not for me. The food was only average, the tables were TINY, and although the service was surprisingly good, the restaurant itself was stupidly crowded. It's also very expensive for such a basic food offering. I won't be going back.

Lovely food, for starter mozerrella with beetroot. Main was steak fries (see picture). Food was great, staff attentive & nice ambience. Loved the decor.. For me prices are lower than the quality of food & a good spot for lunch or evening dinner, def treat

One of the hidden gems in London. Very welcoming at the entrance, Angie was great at accommodating us. Food was delicious and service was great! Busy but lovely atmosphere.

I've read different reviews for this place. We booked 24hrs before for a pre show meal at 5.00pm. Service was fab, atmosphere was excellent, food was great (a little bit pricey but you are in Covent Garden) and you're 3 mins from several theatres. Couldn't ask for much more.

Great buzzy feel about the place. I had the oysters, which were delicious. I then had the whole baked seabass. Oh my, it was so yummy. It was washed down with a bottle of Cotes De Gascoigne. This was one of the cheapest on the wine list, it went well with my dishes. I left feeling very happy. The service was professional and attentive without being overbearing. I highly recommend and will return for one of their jazz evenings.

I had worked in the food industry for over 10 years ... this is very well run establishment. The food is excellent and tastes like it should, the service is attentive with very well trained staff and the atmosphere is great ... even Paris doesn't offer you the onion soup they serve here!!!!

As fans of the New York location, we decided to check it out. I wish we’d gone literally anywhere else. The food was very good as we’ve come to expect. But the service was absolutely horrendous. The staff is rude and inattentive. Oh, and the bathrooms are cleaner at a train station. And then they have the audacity to slip a 13.5% service charge onto the bill. How much would the service charge need to be to get even mediocre service?

We loved it here, such good value for the centre of London. We had brunch and it was all delicious. The atmosphere was good, a great touch to have some live music too. 10 out of 10.

Been here a couple times and I like the place enough. However the last time I went, I had the salmon and it was dry and over cooked, and so was my partner's. There was no sauce with it. Just salmon and some potatoes, no greens - a pretty small plate. Parsnip soup was good though and the service here is always great. I think the prices reflect the vibe and service but the food quality is really nothing special.

Very good atmosphere and good food, nothing extraordinary, but good quality... Cake is a little dry and lacks flavor.

I wanted to contact Balthazar directly, rather than leaving a public Google review, but there is no email address and contact form is limited to a short message only. My friends and I dined with you last night, New Years Eve, for what turned out to be an evening of utter disappointment. Our booking was for 10:30pm and upon seating, we were told the kitchen closed at 10:45pm – this should have been communicated to us when the booking was made. We were told we would be able to order desserts later. However, when our unrequested bill was presented at 12pm, we were told desserts were not possible. This should have been managed and communicated to us to avoid the argument that had to take place with the manager on duty. The bar closed at 11:15pm – on your New Years eve party? Why? I have never had to bulk order drinks to last the rest of the evening. The music stopped at 12, house lights came on, and although we were not asked to leave, it certainly felt that way. From the time we arrived at 10:30pm, the general feeling from staff was that everyone just wanted to go home. For an established, high-end venue, I don’t expect this sort of experience I have described above.

Wow this place is popular! Tried to book yesterday for today 5:30 but the only time slot left is 3:30, and when we went there it was still packed. Lovely food and service, with a very friendly price. Would recommend 100%. It is in Covent Garden, so there are a lot of shops around too.

Worth a visit. Staff are great, atmosphere is lively and decor is more than expected. Takes you back to France

Jazz on Wednesday should be weekends aswell

Atmosphere was nice. Service was fine. Food was just ok, nothing special. Definitely overrated. There was no complex nor onion-ey flavor to the onion soup—it was just salty water.

Service was awful. They put seven of us at a round that would comfortably fit four to possibly five, even though we had reservations in advance. They squeezed us in in a back corner next to the big tray where you put dirty dishes, and they never cleared our already tiny table, so at least we had the tray next to us and could start busing our own table as beverages or other dishes arrived. We ordered caviar two separate times and then when it never came, they said we never ordered it even though he acknowledged it and pointed at the two people who wanted it when it was ordered (in addition to everyone at the table acknowledging we did and witnessing the whole conversation). There was another dish that didn't arrive, but since they were so firm about the caviar, we didn't even want to bother bringing it up to be told we never ordered it. They put our champagne across the larger aisle by another table, which is fine, but we had to go get up and walk over to that table and grab it from the bucket and bring it back to refill then return because they almost never came to us for water, bread, etc. they absolutely saw us clearing the table ourselves and didn't seem to care at all. I don't mind getting my own champagne or consolidating dishes, but I was up and bouncing back and forth we between the table, the bussing tray, and refilling people's champagne that I felt like I wasn't present with my family. This was lunchtime at 11:00am, right when they open, so I don't even know what I'd expect for a weekend dinner. I realize complaining about caviar and champagne already feels super pretentious. I suppose maybe all of the fanfare of what a great place it was set the expectation a little high. I still think it's strange for a place of that caliber to crunch a party of seven into a small table and also never really care about checking in on us or clearing the table that was already too small for us. Just felt like we weren't supposed to be there/were wanted. Eh. The entry was really pretty though.

This was the 3rd or 4th time I dined at Balthazar in central London. I had the steak frites, which was delicious and I would strongly recommend it.

Excellent, food good, service great and sensible prices

The service was warm and friendly. Stumbled on this place with no reservations and the front staff sitted us no probs. The food was absolutely delicious. My lamb was melt in the mouth cooked perfectly. Source wv the lobster was sensational tho the lobster was kinda overcooked for me. My other gripe is the size of their cocktails- too small with too much ice. But then that's the trend all over London now! Recommend.

I had the worst experience I’ve ever had in London, went to celebrate my girlfriend birthday and it was awful, waiter extremely disrespectful, arrogant, it took 30 minutes for them to tell us they didn’t have the wine bottle we ordered, the whole service was slow and the “manager” Teo was super rude during all time, we never coming back and don’t recommend at all!
