Classically beautiful vintage car hotel, friendly service man, fresh beer, quiet nights, wonderfully creaky floors, dinner with after-service.

Amazing place to have lunch or drink something. The problem was that we couldn't even order it. I asked inside to a guy just two coffees, and the answer is that I have to sit and order the waiter. Then I was waiting for more than 30min and the waiter started asking tables that arrived 15min after me. So I just left. You need to improve the service and better organize, it is a piti...

The host was very hostile towards our whole group. Firstly, he made a mistake with having put the wrong item on the receipt and when we tried to ask him to correct it, he began shouting at us. The service was rude and my friends and I can only resonate with some of the other negative reviews from other foreigners saying this establishment treats foreigners quite terribly. We will certainly not be coming back to this restaurant ever and we can only strongly dissuade other potential customers from coming here.

Absolutely racist behavior. Be careful if you don't speak Swiss German. Also, it takes 30 minutes for the food to arrive.

The most horrible host ...very racist behavior! We were not allowed to open the windows while the party before us kept the windows open ! our food for the whole table was delivered in three diferent stages ..15 minutes apart .

Since 10 years I am living in Switzerland and had travelled lot of places here. Never had such a bad experience with restaurant staffs within Switzerland. This restaurant is located just beside a wonderful lake with a breathtaking view. However, the scenic experience was completely spoiled by the rude behaviour of Berggasthaus Bannalpsee staffs. Hope after reading this review, they will try to improve their approach towards the guests to make travel experience a good memory not a bad one.

Horrible treatment on their part, at 5, after taking a tour of the area, we asked them for something to drink and a cheese board, they responded very rudely that it was not time to serve food. Later, when it was time to pay the bill, once it was paid, he told us that we had not paid it and made us have a very violent moment. A place with horrible treatment, it is clear that people from outside Switzerland are not welcome in that place.

The food was delicious, I was served quickly... but since I was out all day, the battery on my cell phone was empty. I first asked the waiter very politely if they had a charger so I could charge my phone, he said I should ask the boss, they probably have something like that... when I asked the "boss"; He replied in an unfriendly manner "We don't have anything like that" and was therefore rejected! There should be a way for guests to charge their cell phones there if necessary. I had lunch there, so I wasn't completely in vain, there are now "plugs" almost everywhere so that cell phones can be charged. I just think it's a shame, it could have been an emergency - and you can't make phone calls!

Food, service, ambience all top. We stayed overnight in the mountain inn and can only recommend it.

Impressive landscape. The restaurant is beautifully nestled between the mountains. The service was courteous and the team took the time to provide information and the hike we wanted to do the next day. The rooms and sanitary facilities were very clean and partly new. On June 15th In 2023 we wanted to fortify ourselves in the beautifully located restaurant by the lake in the afternoon after a long hike. In the morning we checked the opening times online. Everything's o.k. There was also no information about the cable car on site (the restaurant is not part of the cable car). The joy and hunger were great when the restaurant came into view. But unfortunately the joy was quickly over. We couldn't even sit down, then the innkeeper (?) came, he said he had a private party today, we could leave again. Great!! The terrace was only about 20% occupied. The restaurant apparently doesn't have time for a few hungry "migratory birds" and doesn't need it... too bad :-( . Unfortunately, the only restaurant down in the village has been permanently closed for some time.

Super-friendly service from the landlord and his employees. And: we have never experienced such a quick service of the food we ordered 😁 By the way, with all the guests 😉 Food was great, thank you.

We asked for some cheese when the restaurant was open in the morning and were very rudely turned away. Of course we would have paid the same price as if we had eaten it on site, but that was promptly rejected in a way that you cannot understand. When I look at the other reviews, the unfriendliness doesn't seem to have changed for the most part. It's a shame.. very nice place otherwise. But luckily there are other nice cabins right on the lake.

This guesthouse/restaurant was really nice. The food was good, the staff was friendly and our room and shared showers and toilets were really clean. There is also a playground right next to the restaurant, which was great for our group with three children. The restaurant is also beautifully located by the lake and is a good starting point for hikes with children. I can really recommend this place.

At 4:00pm on an holiday day the kitchen is closed and cannot serve even a cold dish like bread and cheese. The restaurant is officially closing at 6pm thou. 5 of staff in the kitchen and 2 waiters are available, not clear to me for what and serving whom. Grotesque “work life balance” in the countryside of Switzerland…

Totally unfriendly host. He roasted us multiple times because we arrived 4 minutes late to dinner in front of all the other guests! We booked dinner, bedrooms and breakfast which was expensive. But he gave us to understand that we are not welcomed. Also we had immediately to pay everything after dinner. Normally you have an open tap until you leave in the morning. Nature is beautiful for sure. But there are a lot of other nice places with better hospitality.

Worth a trip if the weather is good. Hikes from level SOFT to pretty BRUTAL. :)

Excellent service, good food, breathtaking view. I lost my credit cards there, and when I went back after a few hours and asked if they found it they gave it back after I told my name (which was on the card). I know maybe it's not so rare in Switzerland but it always melts my heart. But even before that, they were so nice. The Älperrösti is super delicious. Highly recommended for everyone.

Il lago è raggiungibile a piedi (lunga e difficile salita) oppure con una cabinovia. Il lago è bellissimo. Si può fare il giro del lago anche con dei bambini, il percorso non è impegnativo. C’è una piccola capanna alpina dove si può mangiare.

We were there about 1.5 years ago. Friends of ours were there a few weeks ago. Nothing has changed in the beauty of the place but unfortunately also in the impudence, pettiness and unfriendliness of the tenants. They have a strong sense of lack of hospitality. We celebrated a family celebration back then (with an overnight stay). We had asked a few days before if we could have a vegetarian alternative for 1 person for dinner. When everyone got a sausage, the tenant denied that we had called in advance and did so when she didn't know anything about it. Very unwillingly, they made us the Rösti they promised. Breakfast is sparse: dry bread, industrial jam and Bircher muesli (which, by the way, isn't enough for everyone). Before we left, we asked if they would fill up our thermos bottle (0.33 l) with hot water so that we could mix our baby's porridge at lunchtime. The hot water cost us CHF 5. Even though we had paid several hundred francs (approx. CHF 800) for overnight accommodation and dinner.

We were there for the first time. It was a surprise, the wonderful lake in the middle of the mountains, very nice for a tour. The restaurant was also very clean and had very good food. Everything is a real insider tip.

Very nice and courteous service & very tasty food from the house kitchen. However, the view alone would be worth a visit.

Pro: nice lake with options to play at a playground or in the water. Fire pits with wood next to the playground. Con: the Zwegliweg theme trail was a disappointment (the story was hard to follow for the kids and the station less well done than other Swiss theme trails). The restaurant was quite expensive for Swiss standards.

Wir waren Ende Juli zwei Nächte am Bannalpsee. Zwei Erwachse und zwei Kinder aus der Umgebung von Zürich.Zur Lage wurde schon genug geschrieben, diese ist Top. Das Hotel ist sehr einfach, das haben wir auch nicht anders erwartet und haben auch bewusst dort gebucht. Auf der Homepage wird etwas verwirrend der Zimmerpreis inkl. Halbpension für 90 CHF angegeben. Für ein sehr einfaches Hotel, mit Etagen WC/Dusche und ohne fliessend Wasser im Zimmer sind wir davon ausgegangen, dass dies die Preise für ein Zimmer sind. Das ist aber pro Person, Kinder erhalten 50% Reduktion.Zum Glück waren wir die einzigen Gäste, den wie ebenfalls schon beschrieben ist das Hotel sehr hellhörig und bei jedem Schritt knirsch der alte Holzboden sehr laut. Dem ist nicht auszusetzen in einer alten Berghütte, wenn aber bei Full-House mit über zwanzig Zimmer jeder einmal zum Bad läuft gibts einen Höllenmais!Das Frühstück ist einfach, aber man bekommt genau das was man braucht und die Qualität stimmt. Hier gibt es absolut nichts zu bemängeln. Salate (beim Mittagessen) waren ok, die Suppen (zwei unterschiedliche beim Mittagessen und Abendessen) jeweils komplett versalzen. Auch sonst war das essen Abends nicht sehr schmackhaft und bestand vorwiegend aus tiefgefrorenen Zutaten. Die Kindermenüs waren qualitativ mangelhaft und ungesund.Das Personal war grundsätzlich freundlich, aber man bekam zu spüren dass man ‚Fremder‘ ist. Herzlichkeit war da keine vorhanden, was in dieser Bergidylle eigentlich völlig am richtigen Platz wäre. Im Gegenteil, als wir am zweiten Abend für unseren Sohn anstatt Risotto Kartoffelsalat als Beilage verlangt haben (dies wurde dem Gast am Tisch nebenan angeboten, also kein völlig exotischer Wunsch für unseren Kleinen ;-) ), wurde dem nur grimmig zugestimmt.Die Preise fürs Essen und Getränke sind wie anderswo in der Schweiz/in den Bergen in der Mittelklasse. Wir haben für zwei Nächte (HP), Getränke (ganz wenig Alkohol) und einem Mittagessen über 700 CHF liegen lassen. Und 2020 kann man dort weder mit Kreditkarte noch mit TWINT bezahlen... nur Bar.

Recently, during heavy thunderstorms and rain, everyone was turned away, including small children. The pinnacle came next; we were not even allowed to take shelter under a parasol, it had to be closed and we were sent away. This was all handled in a downright rude manner by the waiter.

The Bannalpsee mountain inn is a purely fair-weather inn - in a storm and pouring rain, even a 3-year-old child is denied entry and we had to move on. Of course we would have consumed something.

Food and drinks can be ordered but must be consumed outside without shelter in the worst of rain. Since the interior rooms are reserved for later. But the unfriendliness of the boss surpasses everything...

You can make both easy short hikes or full day tougher trips. There are quite a few restaurants up there. Only thing is that the gondola lifts are tiny, and often very high up from the ground. So nothing for people with vertigo.

Beautiful mountain scenery and so peaceful

Ein Gasthaus an einer tollen Lage welches etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Charmante Zimmer (z.B. Himmelbett-Suite). gute Essensqualität. Recht gutes Frühstück (2x richtig feiner Maschinenkaffee/capuccino).Aufgefallen ist uns die reduzierte Flexibilität. Dabei geht es nicht darum, dass der Nachschub via Seilbahn aus dem Tal beschafft werden muss sondern um die 'Service-oder Dienstleistungs-Einstellung': Da werden 2 Damen welche gerne ein kaltes Plättli konsumieren möchten mit dem Hinweis 'die Küche hat zu' am späteren Nachmittag abgewiesen. Hotelgäste welche bei der Anmeldung bemerken, dass sie abend gerne dinieren möchten, wird eine Älplerrösti' verweigert weil diese nur am Mittag serviert würde... Trotz Verzicht auf die Halbpension-Mahlzeit wird dann aber der volle Preis verrechnet.Tipp: Melden Sie Allergien oder Mahlzeiten Wünsche unbedingt schon bei der Buchung an!

Super Region und schöner See. Mit der Seilbahn rauf und nachher zu Fuss runter für geübte Wanderer kein Problem! Bei grossem Andrang im Restaurant muss Wartezeit in Kauf genommen werden. Baden im kühlen See echt empfehlenswert

Actually quite nice. But overwhelmed on days with many visitors. There wasn't enough ice cream, so many of the menu items could only be served in modified form. Ice cream for children was also partially sold out. We then had to wait a long time for the order, which is no fun, especially with children. When asked, the response was slightly irritable...

Mit freunden ein Weekend in schönster Bergwelt erlebt. In diesem in die Jahre gekommenen Hotel darf man keinen Luxus mehr erwarten. Bei jedem Schritten knacken die Balken und reden kann man während dem Tag, denn die Wände sind sehr hell hörig. Ansonsten ein freundliches Hotel mit einem aufgeweckten Team. Nachtessen sehr gut zubereitet und das Frühstück einfach und reichlich. Der Aufenthalt bereitete uns viel Freude und Lust auf ein wieder kommen.

Place with a splendid view, too bad you can't pay by credit or debit card; I point out that a portion of french fries costs 9 francs and a bottle of water costs 11 chf.

Average restaurant, Swiss prices, okay service but... you only pay cash! What a shame that they don't accept cards or debit cards!
