The ice creams are good but too expensive for the quantity given, in fact the cups are deceptive, they have a false bottom. The Barbablu flavor wasn't to my taste but I liked cinnamon and saffron.

Great bar, friendly staff and real Italian air (said by a Sicilian) In summer I recommend the ice creams, but also the croissants and especially the Neapolitan puffs, they are very good.

Terrible staff. We wanted to drink coffee, but the waiter forbade us to give our 1-year-old son a brioche because we hadn't bought it from him. All this said aggressively. Never again

Reading past reviews after visiting Barbablu brings a smile: nearly all fives or ones. Sometimes reviews like that can reveal real gems. My uninformed thoughts: looking for a Geneva class experience? It will be disappointing. Looking for a rare rural Italian experience in Geneva? You may become a regular. I found the owner (from Sardinia) to be charming and intensely passionate about his food. It seems many will be put off by this intensity. So some warnings: It seems only cash is accepted though I did not see any signs saying so. Next don't take the hand-written menus on the walls too seriously. There is lot available that's not there, and a lot listed which may not be available. Let's start with the ice cream. It's wonderful. Geneva is developing an interest in gourmet ice cream not unlike it's superb taste for chocolate. ¨Italian¨ ice cream is becoming more available in Geneva, especially through ¨Gelato¨ chains, But Barbablù makes its own extremely rich version in rarely seen in Geneva but classic flavours (saffron or amarena gelato (sour cherry preserves) anyone?). Issues: a) there may only be a few selections available, and b) the owner will not allow you to mix flavours. Each flavour must be its own bowl (perhaps the reason for so many ¨one¨ ratings might start making sense). Next the pasta. Only three types are written with minimal description including the dreaded ¨Bolognese¨. But ask the owner for ¨malloreddus¨ described by the BBC as ¨The perfect pasta dish Sardinians refuse to share¨, and you might begin to get the idea. Engage with the owner and all sorts of things appear. Rely solely on whatever is written with expectations of what is ¨normal¨ at your peril. Have fun!

Thought this would be a new cute Italian deli revelation. Literally the worst pasta I’ve ever consumed in my entire life. The carbonara was basically packaged penne and scrambled eggs…wanted to vomit. My friend had pesto that was clearly canned (it’s not that hard to make fresh pesto) and it wasn’t even nice canned pesto. Would not recommend.

This café, well located on the Plainpalais roundabout, is run by a very unpleasant man who jumps on you if you have the misfortune of sitting at one of his tables with packaging bearing the name of a bakery. install not eat. He will serve you with a dark look and tell you that you must not eat anything at his place because he makes his own brioches!! I am educated and I did not intend to break the rules which are also posted everywhere in the establishment. You will also not be able to use the toilets which are supposedly closed because of Covid.!! No newspaper available either!! The epidemic has a good back..I don't understand the attitude of this cafe owner who thinks that his customers need him and not the opposite. Run away, there are lots of nice cafes around and a famous brand has set up shop nearby. Madam, spare me your response if it resembles the last one you posted recently following a bad comment about your husband.

Very poorly received by the manager of this establishment. Obviously, it bothered him to bring us two glasses of water. Then we had to insist that he bring us two tiny little glasses. I don't think this is Geneva coffee. On the other hand, if I go there, to this place, it is to consume the coffee of this place, which will be unique. I don't go to Barbablù for an "Italian" or "Genevois" coffee. I go to Barbablù for a coffee, (cappuccino, ristretto, hot chocolate) Barbablù. Ultimately, the setting does not matter because it is the consumption of coffee that is the priority for this place. Don't go there for the pastries though, because they are common. To see on the other hand in summer for the gellatto:)

The restaurant is nice. Good discovery. picanha is good with the full platter formula or just with the basic accompaniments. The service is OK but you can hear a lot of noise between the service and the kitchen shouting orders. Otherwise the prices are fair with takeaway pizzas. The map is not huge but sufficient. To try if you like picanha in any case 😊

Nous avons décidé de donner une 2ème chance à ce restaurant car la terrasse est très agréable. Par contre la nourriture est quelconque et les prix bien genevois. Et ils font trop de chichi, pourquoi servir le pain sur une ardoise ? Pour le faire tomber x fois?
