Blockhus, menu in Zürich

Small but nice. Rustic and a bit cramped, but with excellent cuisine. Also very friendly and attentive service. I can only recommend it to everyone 👍

Amazing Great friendly atmosphere genuinely felt welcomed from as soon as I walked in My colleague and I were not rushed, and allowed to relax and order. I had the home made tagliatelle with mushrooms for starter which was delicious and an incredibly generous portion. My colleague had the prawns which she said were perfect. We followed that up with the wiener schnitzel and the steak both cooked perfectly and delicious We were stuffed so no pudding. But a delicious bottle of red which was recommended by the waiter All set in a log house and really felt atmospheric Definitely one for a return visit!

Food was incredible. The atmosphere was great. It was like being in a very old, small pub. This is my second time here. The only criticism is that it is expensive.

The Blockhus is a long-established, rustic establishment. The service is attentive and always ready for a story. This was our second time at the Blockhus and we really enjoyed it again. Open all day Thursday - Saturday from midday. Very useful when visiting subsequent theaters or operas. The food is down-to-earth, delicious. There is meat, pasta and tartare. We had a good mix of them and were able to get a good overview. We were all very satisfied.

Atmosphere is nice, but food is below average. Tried their pasta, tasteless and overpriced.

The furnishings are rustic and very original. The staff who served us were nice and attentive. The order was taken quickly and served quickly. I myself ordered a pork knuckle and the rest of the company took tartare. For me the pork knuckle was quite ok and the ravioli. The price for the ravioli portion is clearly too high, even though it's very good. Otherwise we had a good time. My companion has been here several times, but for me it will be this visit.

Been coming here for years. You should reserve in advance, or sit at the bar. On warm days, you can sit outside. They have a nice selection of wine and likely the best tartar in Zurich.

No more! First the lady wanted to pour red wine from two open bottles into a glass. To which I politely pointed out that you don't actually do that. Then I got a very dirty wine glass. The older lady who served us resolutely took the glass out of my hand without saying a word and ran away. I was a bit surprised by the rude reaction. The bar was right across from our table. So I could watch as she took a clean glass, poured it and disappeared from view for a while until she served me the wine shortly afterwards. The food (tomato soup and veal lamb) tasted good. Only that evening I felt unwell and flatulent. In the morning diarrhea. I don't know what was going on here, but I have the impression that if they are "not good" and complain, you get diarrhea instead of an apology. Decide for yourself whether you want to visit the restaurant.

Nice, if rather cramped, restaurant. The food didn't convince us 100%. Stroganoff was mediocre and the menu was, in our opinion, more at canteen level. Service was friendly and the tartare was great.

Decent. The beef tartar was nice but could have come with a side. The wiener schnitzel was well served but the fries looked like they came from a bag and no veggies either. A bit overpriced but still a nice evening. Update for the owner: first, no need to be rude, these are just my opinion and you can take them as suggestions or ignore them. Second we did asked and ordered a side salad that cost us 14CHF for lettuce, carrots, cucumber and store-bought dressing. I'm just saying that it would be nice to get a balance plate with some sort of green if you pay 30-40CHF/plate. Again, that's just an opinion.

Very friendly, nice service, place loud and cramped. The food is on the lower end of the scale. We returned a meal (Zürcher Geschnezeltes). The table next to us returned a meal (Zürcher Geschnezeltes). Our colleague received home-made pasta with truffles for free. (I don't know about the next table) I won't come back to this restaurant because the price/performance ratio is rather unsatisfactory for me. My dish (homemade pasta with fresh mushrooms) was bland but OK if you're hungry. Anyone who would like to see and talk to a lot of people and want to eat centrally in Zurich in a restaurant with lots of wood and rustic furnishings (including at the bar) will be happy here. Of course, what is being achieved here deserves respect.

Very cozy interior and the staff is welcoming, friendly and patient. The horse steak was beyond amazing, one of the best we had tried.

There were 3 of us. One of them wanted a main course and the other two wanted a normal soup. however, this was not possible. The reason; Didn't order enough and we had to leave the table. A complete catastrophe, and he was also cheeky and said you weren't there to chat a little, but to eat. Never experienced anything like that.

We were welcomed perfectly and quickly placed despite not having reserved. The menu is very tempting and the quality of the dishes is almost perfect. Indeed a rösti would have been preferable to the croquettes. Vegetables are really welcome and the prices are.... Those of Switzerland... A very nice discovery, this very family and authentic place. We will return.

Delicious food, great wine list, very cozy atmosphere

Wine and dined with a friend on a rainy autumn evening. We had a great time! We were welcomed with open arms, and the service was superb. Our table of two wasn't ready when we entered but we were immediately informed and the bartender handed us our first drinks while we waited at a table of four instead of waiting while standing. The food was excellent, the dessert was delicious, and we were greeted and saluted with a smile upon entering and leaving. Would definitely return *****

Excellent food! I highly recommend their tatars and seafood (really nicely cooked snails!!!). They also have a nice and wide selection of wines! The prices are definitely reasonable for such a good service.

The staff is the sweetest and the food is pure Swiss delight. Had the veal and mushroom dish, which was amazing. The white wine paired well with it. The prices were typical swiss prices, but I was happy to pay for an authentic, fresh, hot Swiss meal. Went during lunch on a Tuesday, not too busy. They had a menu in English and I paid with a card.

Bar in a historic building very close to the lake and on a commercial street. Decoration in old rustic wood, charming place and Swiss people dining at 6:00 p.m. Two quality beers 16 euros, but that's normal in Zurich.

The cordon bleu was very tasty. The fries were good but nothing special. Unfortunately the portions were rather small. The service was top.

This place had a welcoming atmosphere and the food was delicious. I wanted to grab a meal while on a layover in Zurich, and this lamb loin in mustard sauce cooked perfectly to medium was well worth venturing out of the airport. Sidney was a great server, suggested a very nice beer and made me feel welcome at this establishment. Highly recommended!!

Initially Niederdorf. The Blockhus is an old classic. For example, various risotto dishes are offered. I had a white wine risotto with tuna carpaccio (see picture).

My wife and I had an early dinner at the Blockhus a few weeks ago while we were on vacation. The service was great with the waiter being very engaging and teaching us some history of the place. The food was good......my wife really enjoyed hers as she said it was delicious and mine was a solid good. The place is pricey BUT within the norm for Zurich. So a dinner for two without a bottle of wine or more than two drinks was over 175 dollars (after adjusting from Swiss Franc to USD). Again, the norm for one of the most expensive cities in Europe.

Food is ok, staff are more than warm. Had just a small issue after I paid, the tip was not too much, since my main card didn't work. So i had to use my secondary card which i managed to pay for the bill and give a 8% tip, the staff that was serving us, just changed his attitude completely after a low tip. Don't find it really pleasant judging the fact that we had a bill of 160 CHF. Will try other restaurants as well. The rating of 3 stars is for the food, it was very good. Price wise, expensive, you can find better deals and better food quality around the area. Location, center of zurich, basically sorrounded by buildings Place: there restaurant is cozy although very small, and can be a bit overwhelming, my table still had some sauce on it when i got there, but not too big of an issue. Overall: 3 stars, there is much to improve here

Amazing Swiss dishes in a typical cozy tavern. If you want to try an early 19th century experience, this restaurant is definitely the place to visit in Zurich. Speciality from the menu: a great selection of beef tartars with different condiments and spices. Sehr Gut!

Location really good, but if you're coming by car especially on weekends you'll have a hard time finding a parking space close by. Food was excellent but the prices are a bit more high than other restaurants. - i've had some beef with french fries and the other person a cordon Bleu with fries, 4 glasses of wine, one beer, and 2 pancakes and the pricetag was 175 CHF. The restaurant itsefl is cozy but a bit too little for my taste, and they also have a great bar in which you can have a whiskey or maybe a cocktail. Certainly will go again.

Visited the restaurant with 3 colleagues. We all got wiener schnitzel and 4 x cokes. Price DKK 1,480. At that price, one would expect the quality to be top notch, but this was not the case. The fries were of the same type as at MacDonald's and the schnitzels were soft in the breading. Can not be recommended!

Food was excellent. Nothing fancy, but done just right nevertheless. We left two empty plates after we were done. Not even a crumb on either of them. Prices are reasonable by local standards. Just over 100 euro for 2 main courses and 4 drinks.

The horse fillet was great and so was the beer

After 6 years being there last time, still good and recommendable. We always went there for beef tartar. The taste and quality has been constant good, the same applies for the staffing, hard to find staffing nowadays that are so passionate for their job's.

Truly A Tartare Gem. Absolutely top notch beef tartare one of the best I've tried with a very reasonable price. Nice Service as well. English could be improved.

Were here for dinner. A reservation is certainly recommended. The service is friendly and attentive and we really enjoyed the food. However, we both had tartare in different versions. Which we liked very much. Will definitely come back.
