Bodu is always a safe bet and one of my favorite places anywhere. Luca and his team provide an excellent service. You see Luca’s passion for wine in some of the wine rarities being offered. I almost always have the foie gras and the entrecôte! Love it! 😍

Lately, guests have been crammed together like chickens in the large dining room. It used to be more pleasant, even in the smoking room. Food tip top. Wines: be careful not to - as we tried twice - choose the more expensive bottle that was not ordered from the two similar-sounding wines.

A great restaurant! Wonderful French classics. Selected, interesting wine list with great wines, especially from the Bordeaux region. The host has really selected the wines they offer. Lots of good second wines from well-known chateaus! Great! We would love to come back.

For me as an 18 year old, it takes a lot of actively negative things for me to write a review here. The bouncer was one of the cheekiest, most verbally disrespectful and therefore most unsympathetic I have ever encountered. Please pay attention to the staff there too; First impressions also count.

The best thing about Lucerne, French flair in the dining room and on the plates, not to forget in the wine glass!!!! Highly recommended for smokers AND non-smokers. Service: if served correctly it would be 5 stars. Ours today was just a “querier”. But there are more interested waitresses!!!!! Don't come back just for the oysters.

Nice, friendly service. Good advice at the aperitif. Towards the end, when there were more and more guests, the waitress's attention was not equally good for everyone. Always remained very friendly and had things under control for the most part. Would eat there again.

Stylish French Brasserie including the atmosphere. Excellent French cuisine and a perfect service. Our visit for a late Sunday lunch met all our expectations. We will come back! Visitors need to be fit for some stairs in this historic building.

A very atmospheric place. There are smoking and non-smoking areas, which is amazing. We had a not-so-great seat 'by the entrance,' but we did book a table at the last minute. The food deserves special attention: fresh oysters, incredible french fries, soups, and desserts. My husband particularly enjoyed the tartare. Thank you so much for our wonderful lunch.

Surprising French restaurant in Switzerland. Very good food, good service, good atmosphere (it has 2 rooms, 1 for smokers and one for NON-smokers). It's not cheap, but in Switzerland good restaurants are expensive, even not good ones. Highly recommended.

Cordon Bleu (Cheese Pork Cutlet) Just a thick cheese pork cutlet. The male employee quietly ignored me. Even when I made eye contact, he pretended not to notice, and even the person who looked like the male manager didn't come towards me at all (he went around pouring me water, pouring me drinks, or asking about the condition of the food. At least the female employee was there). The male employee took care of it. The male employee brought the dessert and suddenly left it in front of the POS machine and disappeared. The female employee noticed that it was only 3 steps away and brought it to him. Even when I asked for a receipt, the male employee said he knew and disappeared while pretending to bring it. In the end, the female employee again. Someone brought it to me. It was my first time at a restaurant like this, so I couldn't enjoy the meal.

Beautiful place lots of charm and fine food

Excellent place. Neat cuisine. Old-style Parisian brasserie-style restaurant. The lentils were perfect and I really enjoyed the veal paillard! Excellent. It could have been hotter, but it was really good. We appreciated being able to be served at 5 p.m.

Restaurant which indicates a kitchen open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and which refuses customers at 9:30 p.m. Absolutely avoid, lack of tact for "FRENCH" customers So a double point of nullity, not the expected service and lack of respect for tourists... And yet it was the 5th time that I came to eat there. The boss had to change, really a shame.

The Bodu is an institution in Lucerne. For years, good cooking, friendly service and reasonable prices have been served here with a high level of consistency. These have increased somewhat recently, but where are they not? The wine list, which contains many treasures, is definitely worth mentioning. Presently Bordeau. In summer you can enjoy your evening meal outside in a very beautiful, popular square.

It is a restaurant with a nice atmosphere. However, there is a slight smell of cigarette smoke, so please indicate the non-smoking zone. The owner recommends menu items for Koreans, and it is perfect for two people.

Especially the one girl who informed us well (because the pigeon we ordered was of poor quality and she had to give us that message) and also came to say around a quarter to 10 in the evening that her shift was over and wished us a nice evening! This was the best food we had in all of Switzerland ! Everything we ate was fantastic! The service was really tasty. I highly recommend trying everything you can afford on the menu because everything was delicious!

Consistent quality is the be-all and end-all. I was there once and it was gigantic! The meat was tender and on point. Unfortunately, things were a bit worse on the last visit. Maybe another chef? One of the meats was way too salty, as were the fries and soggy. The mussels are half completely closed, the vegetables are very crunchy, almost raw. 4 stars because it was great the first time, but it's a shame this time...

our favorite spot in luzern. meat was amazing, fries were a little to greasy but still delicious, one selection wide and amazing. the terrace is a must in a lifetime experience especially on a sunny day. we will come back very soon to try more items:)

Das war nichts . Das Entrecote was so zäh. Last Year it was once of the best things I had ever eaten there. I had 3 reservations and because of this , they are all canceled. Is the cook a different one or did he have a bad day or is the meat source changed. I do not know , but we are not satisfied. For almost $300 no thanks.

Was in Bodu again after a long time. Is and remains fantastic. The classic entrecôte frites and this time as a starter some of the seasonal Pulpo salad. A little dream. Staff wonderfully friendly and competent. Prices are steep but worth it.

Perfect! A sensation in every respect. But the best thing is that you can have a good time here even on Sundays while most comparable restaurants are closed. My tip for anyone who only wants to visit one restaurant in Lucerne - Bodu!

Stumbled on this restaurant .....reviews were great and accurate..had the most delish gazpacho soup, vegetarian ravioli and my son had steak with French fries.....service was on point ...ate at a great patio.. .perfect weather....overall very pleasant first meal in Lucerne...as reviews stated....high price but food quality and service superior

One of my favorite places in Luzern

Had dinner at this restaurant terrace. Nice view to the lake. Service was great, very professional. For appetizer I ordered foie gras, lamb rack for main dish and glass du Liegeois (very similar to Italian dessert affogatto ) for dessert. While it is pricey, the food makes it worth. I would definitely return to try different dishes.

A authentic a French brasserie in the ❤️ of Lucerne. We were seated outside just in front if the historic cityhall and great stairs with a view to the famous Chappel-Bridge. The food was great, the famous entrecôte was perfectly cooked and the Café de Paris excellent. Salad and Foie Gras were also excellent and the staff very friendly. The staff has been here for a very long time, which also speaks for itself. Very good profiteroles with chocolate sauce finished the fantastic lunch. Merci beaucoup!

Such a great meal in Lucerne. Didn’t have a reservation and they were able to accommodate two of us for dinner on a Tuesday night. The atmosphere outside and inside was amazing. Service was great, prices reasonable, and delicious wine. Can’t wait to go back soon!

A great restaurant with charm and a fantastic view of the Reuss from the terrace. The food was first class. The entrecôte with homemade sauce and French fries is particularly recommended. The waiting time was a bit long, even though there weren't many guests present. The staff was very friendly.

Excellent food, very friendly service and staff, especially our lovely waitress who was helpful, cheerful and gave great recommendations. Had the lemon sauce Ravioli (must try), and you can’t go wrong with a creme brûlée or mousse au chocolat as dessert. Would definitely come back

A classic in Lucerne. Very fine food and a great wine list. Their dishes are more classic, with a modern twist. I particularly like the entrecote and the couscous de la mer. Of course, a few oysters or artichokes should not be missing as a starter. The wine list is a treasure map. Good wines with good vintages. Focus on France, which makes me particularly happy.

A very crowded and well-known restaurant for French cuisine. Food is great and large in portion. You could order in small portion if you eat little. There are less than ten outdoor seats on 1st floor with panoramic view. Outdoor seats are easily fully booked in the summer, do remember to make a reservation earlier.

Lots of people, fantastic environment on the square. Took tartar for starter, the best we have ever eaten! Entrecote for main course, very good too. Good service by the guy who could speak English with us and who could recommend something from the menu.

This restaurant is an embarassment to french culinary excellence, but first the good part. In the summer, there are tables both on the balcony on the river side as well as outside in the square, some with glimpses of the river through the buildings. For those in the square, there was live music the night we were there. When we arrived, they were very nice to have kids coloring sheets and colored pencils which kept the kids occupied during the meal. The Salade Nicoise that we ordered was quite nice, and as described, with excellent quality tuna and good haricots verts and potatoes. However, the other two dishes were not all good - and downright did not match the description in the menu. First, I ordered a ravioli that was supposed to come with burrata and be flavored with lemon and mint - but what I received was a run of the mill ravioli drenched with tasteless cream sauce with absolutely no hint of lemon or mint. Second, my husband had ordered cordon bleu to share with one of our kids and it was terrible! It was soggy frozen mixed vegetables, french fries and a cordon bleu that looked like it could have come out as a hot pocket AND it was 46 CHF which makes it a complete ripoff. Service was quite slow in bringing menus and taking orders, but relatively quick in bringing the food (which should have been a bad sign). When we mentioned that we were not pleased with the food we just got an "oh" response but nothing else.

The food was exquisite. Our family of five had fish gratin, salmon, ravioli, Cordon Bleu, and entrecote, and everyone tried emetine else's did. Each one was fabulous. The service was attentive and kind. We sat outside on a gorgeous day. While it's not cheap (231 chf for 5 entrees, one salad, one pamplemousse drink and some still water), it was a very nice meal.

Wonderful gem just 20 meters away from the touristy restaurants on the water’s edge. Our food was fresh and well prepared. I look forward to returning.

The waiter with big pinkish tattoo on the arm and transparent glasses had a very poor and mean attitude . Oysters were great, but I wouldn’t come back to that place because of the poor service

loved their starters. Ordered foie gras pate and their escargot. ordered a rack of lamb and their sirloin steak for our mains.. The girl on the picture asked us how our food were and when I told her that the lamb served to me was WELL DONE she told me to shut my mouth. she did the “ZIP YOUR MOUTH” gesture which was BEYOND DISRESPECTFUL!!! fortunately a gentleman in a tie that I talked to quickly changed the lamb that i ordered to a better cook, kitchen admitted that the first one was over) (first pic over cooked lamb, second pic is the re-fire lamb, and the third picture is the disrespectful lady) nonetheless, their mains are overpriced meals that I could easily prepare at home while their starters are their selling point.

Nothing special to mention. Service partly cramped and partly friendly. Very expensive; probably live from walk-in customers. The food is average, like a pizzeria. Very small round tables, you can barely support your elbows (like in Paris) and are also very wobbly. Not exactly my thing.

It was our first time in the Brasserie Bodu. The Brasserie Bodu is an absolutely top restaurant with very good cuisine, attentive service and a cozy atmosphere on the terrace with all the beautiful houses around. The service was very attentive, courteous and friendly. The food was excellent. We had oysters for starters, filet loup de mer and gratin de poissons for main course and a mousse au chocolat for dessert. Everything excellent. We'll definitely be happy to come back again. Unfortunately, a guest next door made disrespectful comments to the staff. If something is wrong with a guest, you can certainly give constructive criticism to the service staff and accept the service staff's apology, but not make any personally derogatory comments. Where is our society going, instead of enjoying our beautiful life and privileges, being dismissive and disrespectful towards the service staff?

We have our first dinner there as there are not many other affordable restaurants. Either closed for the day or are packed with people. Food and service were good. Cost per person about 35 CHF. Atmosphere is ambience and cosy.

Nice atmosphere, especially outside on the town hall square. By the way, you can hear the quiet sound of the town hall tower clock. A bit like "Littel Italy". And the interior also bears witness to an old, traditional Lucerne city restaurant. Dad's food tasted excellent and was prepared with love. The portions were okay, not too generous. The wine suggestion was a perfect fit. The service was very prompt and mostly very friendly. The boss wearing a bow tie personally inquired several times about our well-being. Small negatives were the uncoordinated service processing with several people and sometimes communication with sparse eye contact. In addition, pouring the wine over the table and also using etiquette, which indicates a lack of training. Nevertheless, the table was beautifully and correctly set and a birthday dessert plate with a Meta candle also arrived without ordering. Very attentive and definitely a plus. Thanks to the whole team for a successful evening.

We had a lovely dinner here. Food was delicious - we ordered chicken, beef and vegetarian dishes and they were all lovely , even the drinks were! Overall a great experience for a family of 6 celebrating a birthday. The place made our uncle feel really special and also offered a birthday dessert with a candle in the end for him! Great service and very good food :) They have smoking and non-smoking sections, so do check your option while reserving!

The food and dishes here are simply fantastic. Except for some fish scales in my gratin, the overall experience is just great. Service overall is good as the attendant have been attentive.

The food is good, but the tobacco smell is very strong. It really bothered me during the whole meal (all windows were closed because it was raining on that day).

The whole place smells like cigarettes, even the non smoking section. The waitress with curly hair had a lot of attitude randomly questioning our wine choices and rolling her eyes when we asked about the menu items. We weren't offered any bread unlike other tables either, I can understand why the place was half empty. The food was ok, not great, but not bad. I gave the 2 stars for the food. There are way better places around, I'll skip this one in the future
