The level and quality of the food has noticeably increased since the restaurant opened. Professional and expeditious staff also work in service. The 5-course evening menu was very fine and good value for money. Overall, the restaurant is recommended.

The illuminated tree at the castle is beautiful and it is always worth visiting the castle again and again.

We did the escape tour. This was ok in terms of difficulty, very creatively designed and is worth a relaxed afternoon for teenagers and parents. The tour must be reserved in advance! The last puzzle was definitely tough :)

For 175 francs we got a tiny double room with a view of scaffolding in the courtyard... After I asked for a nice room with a city view because it was my birthday, we got one. The room is spartan, with 2 mattresses that slide apart, no radio/TV, coffee machine... nothing. I expected something nice for 175 francs. My birthday was ignored. The breakfast was meager, there wasn't even scrambled eggs. 2 stars only because the overpriced dinner was good.

An outstanding youth hostel that is directly adjacent to an impressive museum. This museum particularly stands out and is definitely worth a visit. With its ingenious curation and thoughtful structure, it offers an unforgettable experience for visitors.

Staying overnight in a real castle was an unforgettable experience for the children.

I don't think the music is that cool. I also think it's a shame that between the old buildings etc. This is how newfangled metal boxes stand. because that makes the old castle a bit of a joke.

Very nice and interesting museum! The riddle of the castle ghost was exciting for our kids and they had fun with it. Everything very clean and well-kept.

Restaurant: We'll gladly take your money, but you're not welcome...that's the restaurant's motto. Unfriendly, arrogant to the point of not being possible anymore. Never again!

From the outside it's a very beautiful castle but the "museum" is full of contemporary exhibitions and occasionally a little knowledge about the castle itself. That's an extreme pity for such a large castle complex and unfortunately a waste of money

Beautiful castle, great fine restaurant and wonderful youth hostel. Very nicely renovated, friendly staff. We all really enjoyed our stay (family with children 5, 2 and 0 years old). There are also other great activities in the town of Burgdorf!

A beautiful castle that I want to visit next time I come.

Burgdorf Castle in the Emmental was built around the 11th century by Berchtold I of Zähringen and is one of the oldest and most important medieval castle complexes in Switzerland. Today the castle houses a youth hostel, a restaurant and a castle museum. The castle sits above Burgdorf and offers a beautiful view over the Emmental and the Emme. In the museum, special exhibitions are regularly shown in addition to the permanent exhibitions in the various themed rooms. The special exhibition with the theme “moon horns” can currently be admired. The castle tour offered is also recommended. Here, visitors young and old can find out in a loving and understandable way what life at the castle was like in Zähringer's time.

This is a well curated museum for both children and adults. I’m glad the Swiss Rail pass was accepted here. In addition I climbed both towers to get a real feeling of how it might have been in the past. There is a wonderful slide show of old digitized photos which was a treat to see. I was impressed with many of the collected artifacts and their corresponding documentation. There is a nice gift store at the entrance which is blended with a lounge area….very convenient and not over imposing environment. And the restaurant that overlooks one side of the village was superb. I had a few drinks not yet lunch and the staff was very friendly. The museum staff were also friendly and helpful. Burgdorf is a short train ride from Bern and an easy half day trip….or you can make it a day trip….the town is pleasant to walk through.

Very satisfied, everyone was very friendly from the telephone reservation to the reception. Despite the museum day and quite a crowd, everything was top notch. Food good, gluten-free no problem and even adjustments possible.

Restaurant understaffed, despite early registration. The cakes were all frozen and served thawed. No taste, soggy and very expensive.

The steep climb is rewarded with a fantastic view! The prices are also moderate, but the portions are smaller than expected.

It was one of the most beautiful castle visits. The castle is maintained and run with great attention to detail by very friendly staff. I think the idea is really great: a castle for everyone 💯 I would be happy to go there again and recommend it to others.

Interesting castle with, among other things, hostel, exhibition and restaurant. Unfortunately did not have the opportunity to visit them, but it is also interesting to just visit the well-preserved castle from the 13th century

Burgdorf Castle is very impressive and took me back in time. I often found myself wondering what it was like in the 1200s and how the planning came about. Personally, I highly recommend it.

Fantastic view, good service, but somewhat complicated logistics

We were eating in the restaurant in a group of 12 people. The group was registered and the food was already ordered in advance due to the number. Unfortunately, the service and waiting times were not at all satisfactory! When we finally wanted to pay separately, the waitress's reaction also left a lot to be desired! Absolute no go!! Food was good. First and last visit.

We drove here for over an hour and then found such a strange museum... It has little or nothing to do with a castle museum... A hodgepodge of objects in the Chambers of Wonder, of which there are far too many, and you almost always need that Smartphone to find out exactly what the item is... Once again one of those museums that has been destroyed with this pseudo-art painting and modern didactics.

I think the exhibition was successful. At first it was a bit strange with these colored rooms. This castle is an impressive building. It has been beautifully restored so that future generations can also visit this castle. The themed tours are well done. Were traveling as a family with our 5 year old son.

An encantador, but you can appreciate the small city in the high part of the castle, and have a long restaurant bar! A nice place where the small town can be seen on top of the castle castle where there is a restaurant!

Was only up at the castle briefly, so can't say much about it... Aner Burgdorf itself is definitely worth a visit...

The detective tour and the castle ghost tour are both incredibly good, not only for children but also for us as parents.

Typical Bernese castle. Perched on its rock, it enjoys a beautiful view of the Alps. In the inner courtyard there is a small self-service restaurant and a pleasant terrace with a view.

The museum is much larger than I expected and has some creativity rooms where kids can do stuff. We had planned 2 hours and that wasnt enough. The location for a youth hostel and the terrace of the restaurant are wonderful.

In contrast to before the renovation, the exhibition has become chaotic and restructured. The new theme rooms are not convincing - what should be the goal? The existing potential for exhibits is poorly utilized. The exhibition is worth it because of the historical rooms with few exhibits, but good, modern information and of course the view.

Pretty castle, easy to reach (on foot) through the city center. Many parts of the castle have been renovated, some of them very modern. There is a fountain to refresh yourself in the "lower ring" with running water. The offerings there (museum, hostel, restaurant) were not visited.
