Nice cozy café with outdoor terras, great homemade cheesecake and lemonade. Can get a bit busy/loud during lunch hours.

Tiny portions, absent service, no notification that the table will be shared with other people regardless an acknowledged special request, nor the flexibility to try to find a solution.

Nice space. Super salty eggs and coffee was kind of small for price. But I've only heard really positive things so maybe the salt was a one time.

Super friendly staff. The lunch menu is relatively large and there is something for every taste. The salads are huge and taste delicious. It also always has vegan options. The large sun terrace is also great.

I am absolutely thrilled. The team at Cafe des Amis greeted us very friendly and even though all the tables were reserved, they recommended that we have a drink and wait. We didn't have to wait long and a table became available. We were able to order something to eat. The food was great and really enjoyed the evening. Compliments to all the girls in service, totally attentive and super nice! We'll definitely be back soon!

Mediocre breakfast for the price. Not sure what the fuss is about to be honest. Coffee is average and the croissant breakfast is dry and boring. To top it off, the service is poor as the waitertresses give no attention to you and you have to wait long just to get a menu, make an order etc. No thanks.

The place is nice and cozy - however there is definitely room for improving the service - my friend and I was asked to share a 4 person table with another couple, although we were uncomfortable to do so, the menu does not have an english or french version and the servers are pretty dismissive and rude.

Friendly service and a nice restaurant, but the food only arrived 45 minutes after ordering and the taste and quality simply didn't justify the high price. When it's full it's also excessively loud.

I was a big fan of Café des Amis for years, but after today's experience I have to remove the place from my list of favorite places in Zurich: I paid CHF 23 for two fried eggs (CHF 9), 3 tiny pieces of bacon ( CHF 7.-) and less than a handful of dry mushrooms (CHF 7.-). There were two slices of “natural” cucumber as decoration, I had to ask for bread and butter and even pay extra. Zurich is expensive, but charging CHF 23 for an unspectacular dish whose ingredients cost a maximum of CHF 3 is simply outrageous.

The coffee burned, the croissant was not better than from the coop bakery and the potatoes&eggs had zero taste. Overall low quality ingredients without understanding of food seasoning. The place is cute and the staff is friendly and efficient.

Had breakfast here for brunch with the kids. At first it was a bit difficult until you knew how it worked, but then it was good. The Étagèren provided a lot and we ate almost everything. For me it was a bit expensive because I couldn't eat very much. What wasn't clear to me is that an Étagère p.P. Costs 29.50, the croissant as well as all the drinks are added so that's Fr. 45.- and if we had had more Prosecco then it would certainly have been over Fr. 55.- The restaurant is a bit winding but nice Unfortunately it was also a bit noisy as the place was packed and all the guests were very loud. The employees greet you on a first-name basis I've gotten used to it now

Beautiful place with long lines for lunch. I had croissant which could have been a little fresh and moist. The flavours weren’t top notch but wouldn’t recommend it for quick lunch. The order takes quite a while to arrive and takes up the entire slot. So so food but with great ambience Could recommend if you are meeting your friends as you get huge time before your food arrives

The food was good, but the brunch is a stressful event. You get a time slot, let's say at 9 o'clock. And you have till 11 o'clock. The same happens to all the other clients, so everyone arrives at the same time. Orders at the same time and is leaving at the same time.

Had brunch and it was mostly delicious! Croissants could have been slightly more fresh and the goat cheese crepe wasn’t quite to my taste. I adore goat cheese in all form, but the taste was overpowering and a bit pungent/bitter. It could have been perfect with a slightly different cheese. The staff however were lovely and the atmosphere was perfect for a cosy brunch on a cold day!

Lovely cozy brunch. Super friendly and attentive staff. Place is packed so if you want to be sure then make a reservation for brunch. Outside seating available. Very nice place with quality dishes and drinks. Great wine selection.

Brunch etagère was absolutely delicious. The three of us felt comfortable in our seating area. There was a lot going on on Saturday at 11 a.m., which is why we had to organize the replenishment of bread ourselves and my coffee order was also lost in the stress. The service staff was very friendly.

We visited Cafe Des Amis for a birthday lunch. The food was vibrant, and delicious and made for a wonderful meal. The staff were excellent and made the whole experience that much more special. Many thanks and I look forward to returning in future.

Very cute restaurant and fine brunch!

I stopped by for a late breakfast on an October Saturday around 11:00 a.m. As you would expect it was pretty busy. The seating inside is a bit limited and cramped however, if the outside seating is fully open then there is plenty of room. Due to how busy it was the service was a little slow but not that bad. The food was incredibly delicious so it was worth waiting for. The restrooms were also very nice and clean. Since I am a solo traveler, I was able to sit at the end of a table that already had another group of three. So if you are eating with a group you might want to call ahead to see if you can get a reservation depending on the time of day. I had the croissant with scrambled egg, bacon, arugula and cheese. And a glass of orange juice. My total bill was about 20 Swiss francs which I think is reasonable.

Cozy atmosphere, unfortunately the only positive thing… service staff completely overwhelmed. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks and over an hour for our brunch cake stand to arrive. It was almost impossible to order anything else because hardly any staff came by. The cake stand was delicious, but totally overpriced. For 60.00 per cake stand I expect a little more. Only 2 pieces of cheese, 4 slices of fruit, a small piece of butter and a small portion of cream cheese per person. To share there was a small portion of salmon, crepes, jam and honey. Everyone was given a small glass of Bichermüesli and a fried egg. We also ordered a small portion of hummus, which cost 8.-. If you like to waste your money and don't want to be full, I recommend this brunch restaurant.

There were three of us in this café today and we chose the Étagère. The service was friendly, but chaotic. I hate to give negative feedback, but we were quite disappointed with the quantity, quality and price of the brunch. The jam was barely enough for one person, the crepes and eggs served were cold and bland and the small slices of bread didn't taste fresh. For 30 francs per person, this café definitely leaves a lot to be desired. You are even charged a whopping 6 francs for the tap water. Overall the experience was unfortunately very disappointing.

We were your guests for Sunday brunch today and were very excited. The étagère not only looked pretty but it was also delicious (i.e. the contents...). The service was also very nice. The only downside: the cheesecake was just sweet, unfortunately nothing more. We look forward to the next visit

The menu is not available in English and the servers were not helpful in assigning us a table or explaining the menu. But the food was good and the atmosphere is great. Make reservations if you want to secure a place.

Rhubarb lemonade and cheesecake are highly recommended. The coffee is also very good. Flair of a real coffee house.

Overrated!!! Always with long waits because it comes in every list as a nice place for brunch but honestly is not worth the wait. Everything is just "okay" which does not meet expectations at all

Went to Café des Amis with a friend. There is an outside area, we had enough space there during our visit. In summer temperatures it is important to get a spot under the sunshade. We treated ourselves to a piece of cake with our coffee. The stay was pleasant.

Beautiful brunch place where I recently celebrated my birthday. Place is always fully packed on weekends so reserve days/weeks in advance for weekend brunches. We tried their Vegetarische Etagere for 2 people which had variety of cheeses, crepe, croissants/bread rolls, fresh fruits, hummus, butter, jams/jellies, fried or scrambled egg, mushrooms, etc. Overall food was delicious. I especially liked their coffee and warmes zmorge-croissant mit bergkase and mushrooms. Service was very friendly and helpful. They even gave us a free coffee and a muffin/pastry and celebrated the birthday with us. Parking is extremely hard to find nearby so plan ahead. Would highly recommend this place for a nice laid back/relaxed brunch.

It was a minor disaster. The service looked like it was his first day at work. Ordered 1x more main course than there were heads despite asking three times who ordered what. Tartar always came without bread - by the time the bread came after repeated requests, the others had already finished it. For the main course, the tartare was served without butter and was charged as extra butter on the bill. All mild tartars were spicy. Appetizers were cleared away while several people were still visibly eating. As compensation we were offered a carafe of water (CHF 3.00), which I found to be petty. The restaurant is furnished with rustic chairs, which adds to the ambience. The outside terrace is great and the inside is also beautifully and stylishly furnished. The restaurant is right next to the bus stop and is therefore well connected. The menu is limited but has something for everyone. Portion sizes are good. The desserts are great! Large, diverse selection and fine. To be honest, the entertainment was great that evening. - Never again-!

I visited spontaneously and was promptly overwhelmed even though almost everything was occupied. Large and beautiful terrace. Inside it is less comfortable and very loud. Service was very friendly but also quite chaotic, our food was forgotten but quickly reserved after I pointed it out to the service. The order chaos wasn't just with us - I could see a number of incorrect orders being delivered so something had to be changed. The cappuccino was nothing but the flat white was ok. My warm summit (summit with scrambled eggs) was ok but nothing more. The scrambled eggs were not seasoned and there was no salt. Summit was rather sweet, not my thing. Great terrace, great food, great service. Nevertheless, the Amis' café will soon no longer see me. Price performance is not right.

An absolute gem of a place. It’s like sitting in a well cared for garden with fantastic food and service. The croissant with eggs, bacon, and arugula was delicious with both the eggs and bacon perfectly cooked.

Was there at 9 a.m. in the morning, almost all tables were reserved. It's really strange that you can reserve tables in a "café". Coffee was OK, croissants, well... staff friendly but slow.

Beautiful, inviting garden. The breakfast was disappointing considering the price. Petit déjeuner with 1 croissant, 2 small slices of bread, 4 loveless fruit wedges, butter and jam without a drink 14.50. A pity.

The service is excellent. Incredibly motivated, proactive and hospital. The environment is cozy and chilly. It’s only a bit pricy. To have the extra granola with the plate of fruits I paid 6 CHF. But still I’ll return.

Very tasty food, there is also something good for people with intolerances. Since it is very popular, you have to expect some waiting times, but this is put into perspective by the friendly staff and the atmosphere.

Bad service. I.e. They are nice, but had to wait 15 minutes before we could order and then another 20 minutes for a glass of coke.

Price-performance level well below the Zurich average. Crepe with mountain cheese tastes very bland and has a consistency like rubber, strongly reminiscent of the ready-made crepes from the wholesaler/supermarket... Scrambled eggs are also bland, fried potatoes are not warm inside, as quickly heated in the microwave. Service was nice but slow, even though it was a weekday morning and not very busy.

Good food, but 70 CHF for a breakfast is excessive even for Zurich…

I was there with two people, you can hardly have a conversation, the other guests like to listen in and let it show. The staff is okay, as are the drinks and food, but the people who work here don't seem to have a life of their own.!!! It's a shame what happened to this city!!

Really lovely place, one of the best cafes in Zürich. Staff are very forthcoming and kind. Make sure to get a reservation, as it tends to be fully booked.

Nice cafe on Nordstrasse, bus numbers 46 and 32 stop nearby. Large guest garden, nice atmosphere inside and outside. Discreet friendly service. Very fine drinks and good food.

I echo some of the sentiments expressed by other customers. Upon arrival, no one attended to me. I understand it may have been a busy day but surely someone should have ushered me to my seat especially when I made a reservation. It was also perplexing to me that staff could take a smoke break while ignoring customers awaiting a seat. Upon making my own way to my seat, I was again left to my own devices and treated as the invisible man. I had to flag for a server repeatedly before someone finally attended to me and provided me with menus. The server was nice enough and thereafter I was attended to in reasonable time. My personal opinion is that the food options were somewhat limited and the dishes we did order were lacklustre. I would not come back again.

The food was very good and it was very healthy (also fresh). The service was friendly and attentive. The tables were a bit small for the orders, but it was worth it.

My friend and I were there on Monday for brunch. The interior of the restaurant was 90% full inside and since it was bitterly cold (winter), the outside seating was closed. Despite this the service was not great and when my friend wanted to pack her barely eaten soup, the waiter said it wasn’t a possibility because they don’t have takeaway containers for soups 😳 Seriously? She barely ate her soup so the bowl was almost full. We had to leave because her little one was crying. Food wastage could have been completely avoided if containers were available. The food was good but not extraordinary enough to return. The food scene in ZH is so competitive anyway.

it was such a cute cafe, but not only for coffee and something sweet, they also offer fancy food during the whole day. The atmosphere was cozy and charming, the staff were freundlich and considerate, i can highly recommend!
