It was Friday and I was scared that we would not find place, I called on 6:30 and they had a table. The staff was polite, we were served really quickly and it was delicious

The Grütli café is an institution in Lausanne. Wooden tables and chairs. Local cuisine, known for cheese fondue and brasserie dishes. Friendly welcome. I had the steak with café de Paris butter and home fries, very good. Good portion. Be careful a little noisy if the restaurant is busy because the tables are quite close together.

2 days in Lausanne and the Grutli were our best time. I wanted to introduce my team of girls to tomato fondue and they were delighted! It was at Swiss prices^^, but ultimately not pretentious. The team is really lovely. We felt welcomed like friends, thank you for this warm welcome!

The atmosphere was nice, traditional decor. We had the dish of the day "entrecote fries", the meat was not great, but for 25chf the dish we can't complain too much. However, my meat was just cooked and my friend's was very blue, so he didn't really eat his dish except the fries which were good and the wine too. We certainly won't come back.

We were upstairs and I have to say the atmosphere is 5 stars! You really feel like in a mountain chalet. The fondue is very good, a bit on the pricey side but when I think about it the potatoes are included so at the end the price is standard. The dry meet plate is huge, very good and worth it. The only negative point is from the waiter (the older man). We ordered 2 Coke Zero and he came with only one Regular coke. When I said it was two Zero, he sighed (which is not professional) and came back with only one Zero.. I told him it was two and he aggressively answered "the other one is coming" and it came like 10min later, after the fondue was served. At the moment tho pay, he said "here is where you put the tips" but more like an order rather than an information... The waitresses, on the otherrside, were super friendly and very professional.

Tried the famous foundue and was really good! The food and the service. Recommended to reserve specially in the weekend. Nice environment and friendly. They also spoke in English to the non French speakers.

The hunt was good but for a menu at Fr 76.- dessert is not included and the prices are excessive A note at Fr 550.- and not even a commercial gesture: coffee or coffee pusher 😞

I was there with my colleagues and had a very nice stay there. Everybody enjoyed their meal. Most of us were eating a steak or the lamb. I ate the lamb and it was so delicious and tasty. Afterwards we tried the tarte tatin and de mousse au chocolat and we totally recommend that. All the waiters were very friendly and also the owner came to say hello to us. We felt really welcome in this place. We are sure that we will come back, maybe in winter when they have the gondolas where they serve fondue ☺️.

I had high hopes for this place, but was very disappointed. The food was amazing, but the service was awful. We were given menus, but then we're disregarded for quite a while. I thought it was just because the place was busy, but several other couples came in & were taken care of, including drinks and food. I'm not sure what the issue was. I don't want to blame the restaurant because it could've just been a bad waiter, but still sharing. We also didn't have a reservation and were American. Perhaps the waiter didn't like that about us? We were also charged 8 CHF for a bottle of water that we did not request. Hopefully this was just a random bad experience....try for yourself if you dare.

A delightful dinner in old Town Lausanne. Escargot and fondue was perfect.

The place is not very chic but the service and fondue are excellent. I went on the recommendation of a travel tips blogger and I loved it. I had already eaten one in Zürich but this one was much better. I highly recommend it!

This restaurant is really nice. Installed on the terrace, we were able to start the fondue season very early this year with their fondue which was really excellent. We had the half and half fondue and enjoyed it. The dried meat was also very good, I really enjoyed it, it was super cool. We had a great time.

Came here on our first night in Switzerland, the service was great and the staff really friendly! We had the veal schnitzel and the veal in mushroom and cream sauce and both were delicious. Great way to start our trip, would definitely recommend!

Avoid if at all possible. This is nothing but fied meat dipped in different sauces. The worst part is that the place is full of oil vapors and get stuck to you. Avoid at all costs.

Traditional Swiss restaurant. Everything is very careful. We experienced traditional Fondue, a delicious taste, in this place. According to what they say, this is one of the places that those who want to taste real fondue in Lausanne should visit. I tasted it for the first time, and I did not smell any foot odor or bothersome smell as travelers say. It goes very well with small potatoes as an accompaniment :) The alcoholic desserts were very successful. Everyone consumed it with gusto. I recommend it, it's worth stopping here especially for the fondue. I can also say that it is a great place for large groups.

Absolutely the best traditional cheese fondue in the area, even better than at Gruyère! The filet de bœuf was also extremely flavorful. Will be back again!

One of my favorites during my trip to Switzerland! My partner and I had a half and half cheese fondue at Café Grutli which was to die for! 🫕😋All accompanied by a plate of charcuterie which was very good (the portion is generous by the way!). We didn't book but we arrived very early so we had no problem finding a table. However, I advise you to book in advance if you plan to dine after 7:30 p.m. (many groups of friends/family arrive at this time so without a reservation getting a table seemed very complicated). The price is also correct, especially taking into account the average prices in Switzerland.

Great spot with the most friendly staff! They made recommendations and it turned out great. I had the pork sausage with leek and potato (came with a side salad first). Felt very cozy and would absolutely return!

Absolutely adorable and fabulous welcome from the smiling staff, the lady who took care of us all did to put us at ease, adapting with a smile to our dietary constraints. Go there with your eyes closed, the dishes are tasty and you will have a good time.

The best tomato fondue ever eaten

Excellent quality traditional cuisine in a bucolic setting in one of the oldest café restaurants in the city. Located next to the legendary talking mechanical clock on Place de la Palud as well as a few historic steps from the sublime Lausanne Cathedral, this very friendly little café happens to be located next to one of the most beautiful art galleries in Lausanne “The Market Gallery”. Le Grutli is a charming restaurant known to Lausanne residents but I recommend it especially to tourists who will not be disappointed. Prices are correct. However, reserve before making your wish. A great address in Lausanne, a stone's throw from the cathedral, where you can enjoy a delicious fondue with two cheeses (Gruyère and Vacherin Fribourgeois). UNPROFESSIONAL!!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND PICK ANOTHER PLACE!!!We booked an outside cable car cabins 2 weeks in advance to have a fondue, and when we came, the stuff just notified us that it is not possible, although they confirmed it, and we spoke with the guy who actually confirmed the reservation.

We have had some fabulous cheese fondue and fabulous vaudois pappet. The attention of the staff is unbeatable. My daughter accidentally burned her finger slightly on the fondue, and they quickly took care of her and cared about her. They even went to the nearest pharmacy for burn ointment. Excellent experience

I went in looking for authentic cheese fondue. The smell of cheese inside the store is amazing. The prosciutto-like starter was delicious. I also ordered two servings of cheese fondue. It was delicious, but I realized that if I kept eating this for too long, I would get tired of it. The cheese was also very salty. The steamed potatoes were better than the bread.

We had fondue for dinner (very delicious) in the room on the ground floor, the space is well used, perhaps very noisy or crowded for some, for me it was fine. The service was great, the waiter was Portuguese and made the effort to speak in Spanish, they also provided us with a high chair for the girl and there was a changing table in the bathrooms upstairs.

- Expensive, not friendly and rude waiter - A factory to avoid! Wednesday, December 21, we came to eat with 12 people at noon. We were very poorly received by a waiter who made an inappropriate remark to us because we don't all want to eat fondue. (Even though we clarified by telephone that we wanted to eat à la carte). We order “charcuterie platters” as a starter, the waiter insists that we take three. Result: 32 CHF the price for ONE tray even though there were 4 pickles, 3 onions and just around ten slices of dried meat of the same kind inside. The waiter also made an inappropriate remark about the vegetarian diet, and pushed for us to take 2 bottles of white wine directly when we wanted one to start, as well as red. Finally, we ordered limoncellos, in which there was only a drop of drink, very expensive for nothing at all! The general atmosphere of the restaurant was not friendly, extremely noisy and extremely crowded, we were packed like sardines. The price of a fondue was 30.50 CHF per person, expensive for what it was. IN SHORT, “factory” restaurant to avoid!

Very poor service! Extremely unfriendly waiter (Mr Fiorino). Judging towards people who are vegan and don't drink alcohol. Extremely noisy room. Forces consumption, wanting to bring us 3 platters of meat (32chf pieces) While we say no no 2 please. Delicious fondue and very friendly place!!

The tomato fondue is very delicious, I highly recommend it. The salads and desserts also looked very good (I didn't eat them, but my friends did). Likewise, all the people who work there are fun, attentive and friendly. My only observation is that, since we are in winter to conserve heat, the atmosphere is a little stuffy, but it is a minor issue.

An amazing fondue restaurant with a traditionally cool vibe.

Arrived at 6:39 p.m. for a reservation at 6:30 p.m. (made by stopping by the restaurant in person and having left my contact details of course), our table had been given to someone else because, I quote, “lots of people didn’t come” (thanks for the explanation, nothing to do with it… 🤦‍♀️) They want to place us at the entrance in the draft but ultimately we get a table at the top. The waiter brought us the menus and came back barely 30 seconds later so we weren't ready. We then wait a long time and observe that all the other tables are taken care of, which triggers a comment from our neighbor at the table: “we arrived after you and you are the last to be served” to which the waiter responds: “Ladies took a while to choose.” Um... we didn't take more than a minute to choose but no one came to us anymore. I allow myself a little “yes, that’s not really it…” to which the waiter responds “let’s be frank…” 🙄 Well we laugh about it but clearly I find the service very limited! The meal went well even if we forgot our potatoes and the fondue burner was turned off before we were completely finished... Finally came the bill which included our drinks as well as those of another table... Nothing too catastrophic but I didn't find the fondue excellent (with tomato, a first for me so no comparison possible that said) and the service was not up to par at all! What irritated me the most was the reception following the “delay” and the totally inappropriate response from the young woman even if the build-up became downright funny. In short, I clearly do not recommend.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Le Grütli. The moment we walked in for lunch, we knew it would be worth the visit — the restaurant is clearly a favorite of the locals. The cuisine includes many traditional Swiss dishes, which did not disappoint., and in fact really impressed us! The wait staff was attentive and helpful, making for a pleasant meal. Prices were reasonable, considering the location. :-) Definitely recommend!

Best chase I have ever eaten! The meat comes from Graubünden and was absolutely delicious. Side dishes cooked to perfection. No fuss. Just the essentials and what you need! The icing on the cake, a good tarte tatin to finish the meal.

Family meal, small noisy restaurant. Half and half fondue at 30chf per person a little expensive, meringue dessert with gruyere cream at 13chf it's excessive especially for a small pot of cream. Menu without dessert... rarely seen. Slate over CHF 1000, digestive or coffee not offered. The service is great, but managers not sales. Prices too high.
