Too expensive for the quantity!

The owner was super friendly.. food was very fresh and good! This will now be my go to place if im craving for indian food in Basel. The Palak Paneer is to die for!

My daughter and I visited the restaurant purely by chance in the evening. The heavenly scents really drew us in. We were greeted very friendly by the boss and he still had a table available for us. The food, chicken and lamb, a poem, nice but not too spicy. For us the best Indian in Switzerland. Despite the relatively high prices, we would like to come back.

Experience Indian food at the highest level in a charming restaurant centrally located on Barfüsserplatz. Each dish is freshly prepared with attention to detail and is aesthetically pleasing and served steaming hot. The naan breads are a true taste experience. The owner welcomes his guests with warm sympathy. After my two visits, I'm already looking forward to spending more time in this magical restaurant.

The seasoning of the food is extremely mild/blant for indish quisine, the servis was okay but seemed stressed. There is no decoration/atmosphere at all.

Very pathetic and rude behaviour by staff/service. They are just selling anything under name of Indian Food but for sure it’s not authentic . There are many better Indian restaurants in basel.

Very good Indian restaurant in the heart of the city

We LOVED the food at this restaurant. My husband and I tried the samosa, Lal Mass, garlic naan and their take on butter chicken/tika masala (which was out of this world). Flavors were amazing, portions were good size. Rice included and offered us free refill though we didn’t need. Restaurant was small and cozy. The kitchen is right in front of you open for the guests to see. We had some of the best most friendly service. Which helped make the experience even more wonderful.

I needed recommendations and described what I liked. The server Jassy recommended Chicken Tikka Lababdar and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Everything was cooked to perfection. Garlic Naan was a great side of to complement.

Very nice server. Had the butter chicken which was the lunch special. Asked for it spicy which helped since but chicken can be mild and even sweet, but this was good.

Very good curry for Swiss standards. Pretty authentic, albeit extremely expensive by international standards - expect to pay around 30-35 CHF for curry and rice. This is fairly normal for Switzerland though. If you’re used to British curries, this will be triple the price and below the quality you’re used to, but for residents of Basel, this is about the best you’re going to get!

This the only Indian restaurant I liked in Basel. Nan is great . Thin and crispy . Sabji was also fresh and without colour .

A different take on a samosa, but very nice...chicken byrania and garlic nann for main, again nann a tad different but nice, however the byrania was amazing, full of flavour, an explosion of spice in the the mouth, chicken so tender, good size portion even I couldn't finish it..

The tandoori chicken was a little different from what I had in Korea, but it was delicious, and I asked for the shrimp jalfrezi to be spicy and it was okay.

Outstanding Curries. Returned to Cardamom a couple of times whilst working in Basel. Had something different each time and each time it was stunning. Great flavours, tender cooked lamb dishes, fresh cooked naan breads, what’s not to like.

Reservations made over the Internet will not be viewed or answered. You then stand around stupidly and end up going somewhere else without an apology. No second attempt planned.

We've probably walked past it numerous times and the delicious, spicy smells always wafted into our nostrils, but we never had the opportunity to visit spontaneously. Now it finally fit and the board in front of the restaurant with the lunch menus described drew us inside. We were immediately greeted in a friendly manner, shown to a table and served with the menu and drinks. The restaurant is clearly arranged and very spartan. The kitchen is located directly behind the buffet and is completely open to the dining room, which means that the taste of the kitchen can spread freely and be retained in clothing. The food is of very good quality, the Indian spices are used skilfully and fully activate and satisfy the sense of taste. The Indian chef knows his craft. The portions of the lunch menu are more than okay for the price of CHF22.50. Conclusion: An absolute recommendation for lunch. Friendly service, delicious, flavorful food, top value for money. Not really my thing for a fine evening out due to the spartan furnishings, the open kitchen and, above all, the taste of the kitchen that sticks to your clothes.

Absolutely the best butter chicken I have ever had. Outstanding! My mom had never had Indian before, what a fantastic introduction. We had walked past the open doors several times, remarking on how delicious it smelled, but had already eaten every time. We happened to walk past one more time before leaving town and couldn't resist splitting an early lunch. The best meal we had in Basel, hands down. The naan was freshly made and delicious, as was the chutney. I could have had that butter chicken sauce as a soup and I would have died of happiness, nevermind the tender chunks of chicken. Scraped the bowl and didn't leave a morsel behind. The gentleman who served us was helpful, friendly and happy to recommend places to see and things to do. He was very proud of his city (rightly so), kind, and just lovely. We could have chatted with him all day. An all around fantastic experience.

Very tasty indian food! I had a wonderful dhal makhani there, creamy and spicy but not too much. Mixed with a garlic naan, this was a perfect match! Personnel is very kind. They also advised my kids wisely about their dishes, as it was a first-timer for them. They enjoyed their chicken kormas very much! The decoration inside the restaurant was more functional than fancy. Quite warm too since it's an open kitchen. Overall a great experience, although a bit pricey.

We once ordered chicken tikka from the tandoor oven and once chicken lababdar (also from the tandoor oven with a fine sauce). Both were tender and very delicately seasoned. If I'm in Basel again, I'd love to come back. :)
