After many years, we traveled again to the Jazz Festival in Montreux in 2022 with great expectations and anticipation. I used to attend a lot of concerts (Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, James Brown, Al Jarreau, Al di Meola, Chick Corea etc). For me it was a shock. To put it bluntly, with the death of Claude Nobes in 2013, the soul of the Montreux Jazz Festival also died. I don't want to go into detail about the promenade along the lakeshore (price/performance, space, etc.). The atmosphere and charisma simply... We went to Diana Ross' concert. The show was good but the price/performance ratio was simply not right. It was a disgrace how many people were forced into the hall. After a short time, people had to be led out of the hall because they no longer felt comfortable. Ok, now for something positive. Not far from Montreux are the Rochers de Naye. We chose the lazy option and took the train up. An incredibly great view awaits you at the top. For me it's a "must do". For us next time, however, we will walk and not take the train. You simply choose your variant.

Spent a long weekend at the jazz festival. Saw Jonny Deep, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, and many more. We stayed at a hotel right next to the main festival theatre. When we return, we will aim to be a little bit away because of the sheer after hours volume. Also, get a hotel with air con! Highly recommend this festival.

One the best festival in Switzerland, line up is super as well as eclectic, many artists to chose from, established and upcoming. Many local talents, lots of new artist to discover! I’ve been there last year for Jeff Mills and Jean-Philippe Dary’s performance! One to remember!

The Jazz Festival is worth seeing.

Too many people, difficult to find your way to the concert (insufficient signage). Lots of waiting at the stands to eat or drink. There should be water fountains rather than having to queue at the bar to ask for a water bottle to be filled. Good points: Close to the station and the lake.

The Montreux Jazz Festival since 1967… Jazz remains an important part of the festival but not only… Today's festival lasts about two weeks and attracts an audience of more than 200,000 people. Strongly recommending buying ticket for a venue or attend free concerts while having your street food from all over the world.

Best music festival in the Swiss Riviera. Diverse music. Lots of free concerts, ( electro, rock, latino,alternative and more), lots of food stands and you can bring your own drinks!

Outside, it's very lively, warm, it's a celebration of music and social diversity. At the edge of the lake to complete the evening at sunset, it's just perfect.

Its one of my favourite things to do in Switzerland, and i visit it almost every year!

Unfortunately it was very disappointing! Went to Chilly Gonzalez and Sofiane Pamart. Got a standing room spot for 100 francs. All fine. But the sound was so bad! There was always a loud buzzing noise, a noise that couldn't be ignored and I don't have tinnitus. 😅 The show by the two top pianists was designed for clapping and drum solos. There were also visuals that looked like a Windows 95 screensaver. The result was a Musikantenstadel atmosphere with clapping that I would never have imagined at such a historic festival. Expect high culture, get commercial cult.

Top organization, well thought out choice of artists, we had the chance to attend several concerts, thank you to the whole team.

Great food, amazing views and good DJs. Only con is that everything is very overpriced. The event was very well managed and all the venues and facilities are pretty clean.

It’s my first time and it was my dream to come to Montreux jazz festival. I was expecting more jazz concert. Most of concert and music event were mainly pop , EDM , dance music and Rick etc. only at Lake house , you can see the jazz music. However, the location is very beautiful place in front of lake and inside of festival , you can enjoy many various foods from different countries Above all , those were almost free of charge to see the concert and music

Extremely disappointing parking organization this year 2023. Usually volunteers with vests show us the direction of the festival parking lots to then take the bus to the festival, this year there were almost no signs for kilometers since take the motorway exit to the Tour de Peilz, and the last indicated Parking follow P and no other indication. I have been going there for over 30 years. If the programming is exceptional and the Stravinsky auditorium is perfect, the business side bothers me more and more. Between the food stalls that deliver dishes that aren't always wow-worthy, the parking spaces that are impossible to find, the increasingly dense crowds, the dirt at the end of the festival, the magic is in free fall. A few extraordinary musical minutes remain. I don't know if I will go back despite these minutes, too many obstacles to overcome.

Best place to visit! Genuinely lots to do and see for free. Lovely markets with local goods, plenty of restaurants and cafes, and access to the lake everywhere so you can dip your toes or swim! The MJF itself has amazing DJ sets, huge food trucks, and the auditorium for the paid concerts is brilliant. I've always felt very safe walking around, zero issues. Food trucks offer great meals at reasonable prices. Beers are around 5chf. Transport to and from the festival is safe and frequent. Highly recommend.

Good atmosphere and excellent experience with the non-paying rooms (especially the Lake House, with its "real" Jazz concerts played by artists from all over the world and Jam sessions that rock). However, paid shows offer a very mediocre experience... It starts with queues that form randomly within the auditorium, until the staff arbitrarily reroutes those they deem inappropriate (or start doing their information work which is not their strong suit) towards an endless queue outside, in the rain, which will not allow, for the majority, to attend the start of the concert. Added to this frustration is the following: once inside, the show is almost not visible to people at least 1m90 tall, which does not bother the organizers, because even the giant screens present are turned off ( budget cut?). So I recommend the free concerts which offer a much better experience in which you even sit!

One of the best festival experiences I’ve had. Traveled down from Lille to watch Bjork perform here. Incredible experience, incredible festival. Definitely need at least a couple of days here to see everything and fully soak up the vibe.

Pay 145.- and arrive in the concert hall after it has started due to poor organization. This is truly scandalous! We came 20 minutes before the start too. The staff, multilingual including Italian, were exquisite and courteous, finding us a seat immediately even without a reservation. I don't want to say anything else because the experience must be had in person, and I'm sure, no one will regret it. It's the third year I've come to Montreux and each time it's better than the previous one. I will go back again, and recommend it to anyone.

In terms of sound quality, this festival is the best. The price is a little high but if you really like an artist go for it with your eyes closed. You will see it up close and your ears will be delighted.

Excellent memories at this festival, after covid the movement is calmer and the stands on the edge of the lake are reduced, but as always an excellent opportunity to discover new talents and appreciate very good music during the concerts.

Horrible experience this year. Unorganized and illogical at every level. Access denied 15 mins before our time slot at the open air jardin stage despite the place being basically deserted. Yes it’s COVID but the staff should use their brain and make sure everybody has a good time here. Program online not up to date artist wise. You can make booking to the food venue with no staff to serve you. No ambiance. Overpriced drinks and merchandise (49CHF a simple printed t-shirt) please don’t take customers for fools and better organize and train the staff next time.
