Super nice café on the upper floor with a view of the market square. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and delicious drinking chocolate. Simply a wonderful old traditional shop.

I bought an Aperolspritz and honestly it doesn't even remotely resemble it. I think we added the prosecco sparingly. Beautiful place but if you serve a globally known product like the Aperolspritz at least be careful to make them with the right recipe.

Nice city, nice Town Hall and old town, bridge over the Rhein. I recommend a shop and a chocolate bar in a side street near the old bridge.

Superb confectionery. A little confused whether to pay when ordering the cake or at the table. You have to get your cake first, go to the table and they come and take your drink order at the table

It is a historical coffee-tea house in Basel Marktplatz. The historical decor of the interior is very nice. It is very enjoyable to sip tea or coffee accompanied by dessert in that environment.

Really really lovely staff, though I think the truffles are much too sweet. I tried all the other top chocolate places in the city and they were much better. I’m sad to say I honestly ended up throwing the rest of these chocolates out

Great location, wonderful atmosphere, and good service. However, I had a slightly unusual experience: After about 45 minutes of sitting, enjoying some food and drinks, a waitress came and asked for the bill, politely indicating that I should leave. I was already planning to leave, so it's not a problem, but it did seem a bit strange. I don't know if there's a time limit for seating :) Maybe opening my laptop bothered them.

My absolute favorite tearoom for more than 30 years. Not only the furnishings, the service but also the many delicious sweet and salty dishes always make our visits a special experience.

It's always something special to visit the first floor of the confectionery. Very friendly service and great presentation of the delicacies. You are spoiled for choice. We particularly recommend drinking chocolate, which you should treat yourself to. We will be happy to come back on our next trip to Basel.

It's a 150-year-old cafe in the middle of Old Basel. I am satisfied with both the view from the second floor and the antique furniture. The drinks are reasonably priced and the cake is delicious. I highly recommend it

It's friendly to locals, but it's unfriendly to foreigners. Don't go. Not even a single star is a waste. And I wonder if I should pay that much money to eat that kind of food. It's the worst value for money.

If you are visiting Basel then you should definitely go to Confiserue Schiesser. They have good coffee as well as something sweet which is also very good. Birthday cakes also available to order as well as wedding cakes. The staff is very nice and friendly, I can only recommend it

A nice place to drink a good hot chocolate. The home-made hot chocolate is definitely worth trying. However, the coffee is not recommended.

Historical coffee dessert place which services lunch as well. The 1870 establishment has a fantastic view of Basler Rathaus, from the outdoor and the second floor. Lunch was pleasant, small tart with asparagus and pilz-schnitte, brioche toast in mixed mushroom sauce.

Superb historic establishment with a breathtaking view of the splendid town hall. Pastry shop on the ground floor, and very pleasant tea room upstairs; a room in Swiss historicist style, and one in belle époque style. Beautiful pastries, good coffee and tea. Part of the network of businesses that open their toilets to the public, so you can admire the place without even consuming! Fairly high prices, but no more than elsewhere in the country and you won't be kicked out if you take a break with just a coffee.

The atmosphere is very nice... The staff is super friendly and very helpful... We had a latte, a little too small for me and way too expensive... Easy to reach by public transport. From the stop you can get there in less than a minute's walk...

A magical place, a very well-known and old patisserie. High quality cakes and pastries. It is recommended to order hot chocolate, they make it from real chocolate.

To stop here for a coffee and give in to the sweet temptation is to travel back in time. Unfortunately, when we were there, the café was very busy, i.e. full and it was very loud. The service was fine. The employees wear "uniform", which means black skirts and a small white apron, which unfortunately none of the employees wore correctly and was tied together with a pretty stitch. 30 years ago, aprons were ironed and starched and the stitches were beautifully shaped. Nevertheless, there was a good atmosphere in this historic room on the first floor. We'll be back, even if the prices are incredibly high.

Step in, slow down and savor the offerings and the atmosphere of a fourth-generation family owned enterprise founded over 150 years ago. If you are not sure where to begin among their list of choices, I recommend the homemade hot chocolate. If you are looking for a gift or just want to say thank you to someone, their truffles are marvelous as well. If you have never had a whiskey truffle, this is the place to try it and you will be a fan forever.

Very cosy place, good pastry, quick service. I would definitely come back here. I would like to try some more of their items. I had the butterpretzel and some… mocha tart. The lady serving me was very nice. The atmosphere is also very pleasant.

Anything! for middle-class people who aren't afraid of losing 20 bucks for a coffee and a croissant. Service in the west they brought the order back to us in 5 installments asking us if we had everything each time Lol! But the service was very nice

This cafe is brilliant. The choice of patisserie is tremendous and all the cakes not only look lovely when choosing the one to eat but they taste marvelous as well. So fresh. The service was also terrific with the waitress trilingual speaking French,German and English. She was polite, friendly and also really helpful. She provided guidance to a couple of shops we wished to visit and recommended some places for an evening meal. At £12 per pot of tea for one she recommended having one pot for the two of us as with a bit of ingenuity three to four cups could be obtained from the tea pot and the supplied hot water. The eating area is upstairs and is olde worldy and yet relaxing and it is easy to sit at a table and just wind down and relax. If visiting Basel this is a great place to go for a cup of tea and a cake & a cake.

It's a cafe in a good location in Basel but the toilets are clean but could do with a good refresh (paint and aging tiles)

Blonde curly haired girl should change her attitude. So unfriendly. Did not smile. Did not help. She is absolutely turning off the customers. Not going back because of her. I was there’s October 5, 2022 around 5pm so you can narrow down who was there in front of the store at cashier.

Don't sit on the pavement, rather head upstairs into a little piece of heaven. This bakery has been in action since 1889 and is totally gorgeous! Delicious croissants and their veggie pie is fabulous. Their cafe latte machiato is also awesome.

Their specialty is Schoggi-S, chocolate meringues, for which one should come early in the day

I'm surprised by the very positive reviews here. Because when I visited, I didn't perceive the café as anything unusual. In fact, the order was a bit chaotic, not a big deal. I would like to highlight the noble, almost feudal furnishings on the upper floor. As expected, there was a very specific clientele there who conversed exclusively in English. Overall, a very interesting location that has the flair of days long gone.
