Saturday lunchtime, not exactly all hell broke loose. But we received a very friendly welcome and the food was of very good quality. We all had tuna as a starter, 3x beef fillets of incredible quality that I haven't had in a long time. But the turbot with black rice and strips of green vegetables trumped everything. We will be back!

2018 "Very good but not perfect" We had a lovely evening with duck liver, wild garlic risotto with prawn ragout and gnocci and beef fillet with morel sauce as the main course. - for the price it should be perfect - Beef fillet wasn't the best - that's why the points were deducted / I know that the butcher is mainly to blame for that, but you have to keep that in mind when shopping - but morel sauce was very good + Duck liver on braised apple is a dream + Wild garlic risotto very flavorful and super tasty + Gnocci good - airy good but no wow + Merlot was good and the cheese plate with 12 types was also good

Wonderful, stylish and pleasant atmosphere. Staff very attentive and friendly. Food excellent. Offer clear and not overloaded. Prices in the middle segment. During our visit on the evening of December 23rd, we paid CHF 400.00 for 3 starters, main courses and desserts, 3 ProSecco, 1 bottle of mineral water, 1 bottle of Merlot la Riserva, 2 espressos and 4 limoncello. Highly recommended for special occasions!

The food is good with high quality ingredients. I know we’re in Switzerland but it felt a bit overpriced even for Swiss standards. We originally wanted to sit outside for dinner, but the outdoor terrace is very dark and I couldn’t see anything. I highly suggest management add some more lighting The staff were very friendly and accommodating and quickly moved us inside

Dinner here was fantastic. The terrace is lovely and the staff were so kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and patient with us as we navigated a language barrier. If you are in Locarno this is the place to go for dinner, can’t recommend it enough. The mushroom risotto was heavenly!!

Magical moment with a divine truffle risotto, then a rarely tender fillet of beef and a surprising dessert composed of tiramisu and iced coffee. We will definitely come back. Very attentive and friendly staff.

With such a rating in Gault Millau, you have high expectations. Here they were even surpassed. A very pleasant atmosphere, in which the friendly and uncomplicated service also plays a large part, meets the finest food. Both the venison and beef were cooked perfectly as requested. The ravioli were also a delight. At the end, the large selection of grappa was convincing. We will definitely come back again and would like to thank the whole team for the wonderful evening!

Fantastic kitchen, a little hidden, not overcrowded, nice terrace for al fresco dining. We were here for lunch with our child (2.5 years old) on Good Friday and can fully recommend it.

Very hidden, I only walked past because my hostel was next door. The restaurant and terrace have beautiful accents and have been stylishly furnished. The menu was small and yet I couldn't decide. 14 star Gault Millau 2021 and it was excellent!!! Absolutely nothing to criticize! They have a wine list with a large selection. The service speaks all languages ​​and was very friendly. I'll definitely go there again!

The food is very good, the service is not. After we pointed out to the waitress twice that we had been served the wrong main course, they didn't think it was necessary to apologize. The menu was perfect, short enough to inspire confidence but with enough choice to feel interesting and to our tastes. Service was friendly and efficient, in a terrace that is cosy but without feeling isolated from the city. Some dessert options had run out by the end of the night.

My first restaurant meal in months and it was perfect!! The set menu with starter, main and dessert with all delicious dishes, the same was the case for my company! Also the service was friendly and lovely. The terrace in the back was the real Ticino experience. Highly recommended!

A very good menu, we ordered a salmon tartare and a beef tartare, ravioli for two, but I find that 3 pieces of ravioli per person may not be enough. In any case, for me, who is a big eater, I would have appreciated 2 more ravioli. Then my wife had the veal steak and I had the branzini and finally the desserts. The menu is really tasting, the beef tartare with truffle oil is really good. I'm going to try to make the 3 pieces of ravioli with morels at home. I'm still hungry because for a menu at 140.- for two I was still hungry. Money is not the problem I already knew the price of the order but I think that like everyone else in this world we like to eat when we are hungry. If the quantities would have been a little more I would have given 4/5 because to have a 5/5 it has to be phenomenal. It was super good but it lacked the magic which would definitely bring you back. I recommend for those who really want a try and see menu but if you are too hungry eat a pizza before ordering. Greetings to the chef

Das Essen entspricht wirklich den Bewertungen, nur war die Bedienung alles andere als aufmerksam. Wir mussten nachfragen für unser Retourgeld, gerne geben wir Trinkgeld wenn es stimmt, aber es war offensichtlich, dass es so nicht gemeint war. Die Chefin hat sich danach auch entschuldigt. Was uns aber zu keiner Rückkehr bewegen wird ist der Gestank von der gegenüberliegenden Mülltonne, hässlich bei 30 Grad im Schatten. Ein Dankeschön in die Küche, dafür sind auch die drei Punkte.

Ieri, 26 agosto 2020, abbiamo trovato per caso questo locale piccolo e curato, con una terrazza molto confortevole.Piatti curatissimi, con una qualità delle materie prime e un equilibrio di sapori che restano impressi. Noi abbiamo provato l'insalata di gamberi, i ravioli con burrata, il branzino (eccellente!), il manzo e i dolci.Menu da 2 portate 65 franchi svizzeri, menu da 3 portate 75 franchi svizzeri (ben spesi!!!).La simpatia e la sincera cordialità dello chef hanno reso ancora più speciale un'esperienza da ripetere presto!

Valentino remains an insider tip for sophisticated gastronomy. The 14 Gault Millau are deserved. "Senza fronzole" and worth the money. You don't treat yourself to anything else.

Wir waren anlässlich unserer Woche im Tessin zwei Mal im Da Valentino. Dies war nicht unser erstes Mal und wird bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal gewesen sein. Am ersten Abend waren wir wie die vorigen Male begeistert vom Service und vom Essen. Die Weinkarte ist sehr gut mit sehr fairen Preisen. Da uns das Nachtessen so gut gefallen hat, haben wir zwei Tage später noch einen Tisch zum Mittagessen reserviert. Auch dieses Mal waren wir vollends begeistert. Top Restaurant. Vielen Dank, F. Ausgezeichnete Küche, vom Chef perfekt geprägt. Der Service ist flink und sehr freundlich. Sehr empfehlenswert ist das Rindstatar mit Parmigiano-Crème. Und ein weiteres Signature-Dish ist die Pasta al astice. Das steht zwar nicht immer auf dem Menu, aber kann beim Chef jederzeit bestellt werden. Selbstverständlich muss reserviert werden.

Trovare questo ottimo ristorante pressoché vuoto in questo periodo dell’anno è molto triste ma quest’anno è così. Abbiamo scelto il menù del giorno il crudo di ricciola molto buona , come buono lo spezzatino alla senape con riso pilaf. Se una critica si può fare sarebbe stato meglio fare un menu solo di pesce anche se così si soddisfano tutti i palati. Il servizio attento e veloce. La sorpresa il prezzo assolutamente adeguato.

Les plus: Les spaghettis au homard étaient excellent, tout comme le dessert au marron. Le service est impeccable, discret et efficace. Très bonne carte des vins. Les moins: décoration un peu vieillissante ainsi qu’un bémol sur les allergènes. La carte stipule certains plats sans gluten mais lorsque le dit plat est arrivé, il y avait des copeaux de pâtes séchés sur le dessus, ce qui n’est pas normal pour cette gamme de prix. (Et dangereux quand on est allergique).

Sehr schön stimmig eingerichtet. Service sehr gut und aufmerksam. Hier fühlt man sich als willkommenee Gast. Die hohe Qualität kann seit langer Zeit aufrecht erhalten werden. Meine besondere Empfehlung: gebratene Entenleber auf Apfeltatin mit Apfelessigsirupe, und Spaghetti con Astice. Preis/Leistung stimmt.

Il locale è piccolo e molto curato, i piatti proposti sono altrettanto curati e di ottima qualità. Una portata non consegue immediatamente la seconda ma trovo che le tempistiche siano perfette. L’atmosfera è tranquilla ed i dipendenti molto educati. Eccezionale.

Siamo stati in occasione per il compleanno della mia compagna. Molto colpiti dall'ambiente ordinato, elegante, intimo ma nello stesso tempo conviviale. Hanno saputo abbinare la sobrietà alla eleganza ma famigliare. Piatti (vedi foto) curati prima di essere servi, si nota dal fatto che il cuoco si sia emozionato per i nostri complimenti, sinonimo di tenerci per i suoi commensali.

We found this place via TripAdvisory, and chose it based on good reviews.Food: we had the sea bass (daily menu) and the spaghetti with lobster and tomato sauce. We preferred the spaghetti which was really tasty. The fish was fresh but somewhat bland for my taste.Ambience: quiet place, a short uphill walk from the buzz of the old town. We had our lunches at the al fresco area, which was pleasant.Service: attentive and polite. They did not have an English menu but the waiter kindly explained to us what the dishes were. We also had google translate to help figure out the menu :)Cost: about CHF35-40 for each main.

Locale molto bello, cibo buono, discreta carta. Attesa piuttosto lunga tra una portata e l'altra. Per tutto il pranzo un cameriere, dall'aria gentile, ma troppo invadente ci ha ronzato intorno versando le bevande con una certa insistenza anche nel dialogo.

This restaurant has a very nice outdoor patio where we had a fantastic dinner. The waiter was so friendly and helpful and spoke great English as well as Italian and German. The food was amazing. We all had different dishes and loved them all, from appetizers to desserts. Highly recommend this place!!

Ein elegantes, schönes Gourmetrestaurant. Beide Vorspeisen waren sehr gut, besonders die Ravioli mit Quark und Lauch in Pilzsauce. Das il misto di Pesce war eine köstliche Auswahl von 5 verschiedenen Fischen und Schalentieren. Mein Mann war etwas weniger beeindruckt von seinem Kalbfleisch mit Morcheln und sagte, er habe danach Hunger, was für ihn sehr ungewöhnlich ist. Der Service war insgesamt gut, aber gegen Ende unseres Essens verloren wir den Fokus. Das einzige kleine Minus war, dass der Kellner darauf bestand, dass die Leistung nicht in der Rechnung enthalten war. Obwohl ich als Schweizer weiß, dass das Bundesgesetz (vor 35 Jahren verabschiedet) vorschreibt, dass die Leistung in der ganzen Schweiz enthalten ist. Ein entspannender und angenehmer Abend. Empfehlen.

Possiiblità di scelta tra un menu degustazione e altri piatti di carne o di pesce alla carta. Ho gustato un eccellente tartare di manzo al tartufo nero e poi un delizioso semifreddo ai frutti di bosco della migliore qualità. Anche gli altri commensali hanno apprezzato, in particolare il tartare di ricciola. Buona scelta di vini locali e di altre provenienze, anche a calice. Servizio corretto, prezzi in rapporto. Assolutamente consigliabile.

Wir besuchten das Restaurant zum Abendessen an Ostern. Das Lokal ist sehr stilvoll eingerichtet und die Bedienung zuvorkommend. Das Essen war aussergewöhlich! Habe selten einen so guten Fisch gegessen. Die Beilagen (Kartoffeln, Spargeln und Tomaten) waren super abgestimmt und sehr fein zubereitet! Ein toller Abend :-)

Not being very familiar with the internet, I don't often write reviews regarding the places visited but in this case I think it's worth spending a few words regarding this fantastic restaurant! The truly impeccable service from all the staff. The risotto with Roccaverano robiola, autumn truffle and morels was exquisite, a true balm for the palate! When I find myself in splendid Locarno again, I will certainly return "to Valentino" again!
