Da Vinci in Bern

The food is always very tasty. I used to always eat one of the many pizzas, but recently I've become a fan of the Da Vinci salad. I enjoy eating here.

Nice restaurant, great location. The pizza was very tasty. Service was attentive and friendly. It was a bit noisy, but the tight seating is typical of a pizzeria.

When the service specialist found out that we didn't want wine, he wasn't exactly happy with our decision. We were still working on our salad and they came with the pizza and noticed that we weren't finished yet and left again... In the meantime the service person came. Stopped by twice and asked if we were still eating because he wanted to bring us the pizzas as quickly as possible. When we said no to dessert and coffee, he again wasn't happy about it. We felt uncomfortable with the service!!!

Great pizza and very good staff

Unfortunately we were very unhappy with our last visit. We ordered 2 calzones and a pizza bufala. The pizza was really very good but the two calzones were not ok. Both had a completely raw egg on them, and one of them still had the whole egg shell on it! We were not visited at the table in between so that we were not asked how it tasted until at the end. We then showed that the eggs were completely raw and with the shell on. The waiter offered to put these pieces with egg in the oven again, but we had long since finished eating, so the offer seemed rather clumsy. Otherwise we were not offered anything else, we paid the full price and left.

Was a sensational experience. Had Gambarini. Definitely try it. Selection of pizza and pasta is awesome.

We had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant and all we can say is that it was a fantastic experience. From the warm welcome to the last bite, everything was just perfect. The ambience was charming and inviting, the staff was extremely attentive and friendly. As for the food, it was simply divine. Each dish was expertly prepared, with fresh ingredients and a touch of creativity. Every bite was a taste explosion! We were particularly impressed by Pizza Diavola. Scaloppine al limone with brown sauce! The vegetables are overcooked. Uniformity. Excessive price. Staff stressed, unfocused, we were asked three times if we would like to drink some wine. The waitress was unable to deduct a drink that was accidentally charged twice from the total. With the support of the managing director, the overall total was finally correct. I felt sorry for the young woman and asked myself why an inexperienced waitress who didn't know our currency was being used on New Year's Eve.

I spent a very nice evening in a lovely setting in the center of Bern Italian cuisine and wood-fired pizzas are excellent!

Despite having a reservation, first we didn't get a table at the restaurant. The staff eventually seated us right by the entrance, exposing us to constant drafts as people passed by, creating an uncomfortable experience. Additionally, it was very noisy, making it difficult to hold a conversation. This place is definitely not recommended.

That evening the restaurant was more than full. This is probably due to the fact that Rendez-vous only ran for a few evenings at Bundesplatz. Unfortunately the waiter was anything but friendly. No friendly “good evening”, no friendly asking how the food was, nothing. He took the order with an expression on his face that predicted seven days of rain. It could have been because the restaurant was really full that he was in a bad mood. However, the other waiters had no problem serving their guests in a friendly manner, we were just unlucky. To eat: I had a calzone, my companions had normal pizzas. In any case, we agreed that the food was very tasty. The only thing I was missing from the calzone was the egg. The size of the pizzas was also impressive. For dessert there was a coup Baileys and a coffee. Not rocket science but delicious. I have a photo of it, it looked nice. Unfortunately no photo of the calzone was taken. Conclusion: possible bad luck with the waiter. Otherwise great restaurant, delicious food

Italiens, nice Italian hustle and bustle. Table with a view of the Bundeshaushalt.. light show...

Had diarrhea after the pesto. Service didn't bring the right drinks. The ambience is kitschy and the acoustics are bad.

Eating in harmony. The pizzas are produced on an assembly line. My pizza was a bit hard, the ingredients were good quality. It's a shame that the spicy salami wasn't put on the pizza after baking. The salami pieces were a bit too crispy and the taste was distorted. Overall average, there are much better pizzas in Bern (number 1 still Casa Italia). A large, crowded room, the service staff is constantly bustling back and forth, it is very loud. Acoustic insulation could work wonders in this restaurant by reducing the excessive noise level. The staff is good and friendly. But with the number of people they reach their limit.

We had the tagliatelle with salmon as a small portion (still a good portion), the gnocchi and risotto. We were all very satisfied and even though the portion was small, it was still a good size.

An excellent Italian restaurant and a good value for money, or rather a superior quality in the dishes, both main courses and desserts. Were on the terrace. 6 staff and half empty terrace but waited a long time for waiters. They walk around but don't look left or right. Schweps without ice and nothing, add an empty glass. Ice cream and lemon is not that complicated. Ordered a portion of fries as a snack and voila, this is what a portion of fries looks like. No napkins included. Then ordered a pizza to eat together. No cutlery and at least napkins. It can't be that difficult, right?? Small portion, very long waiting times. Overwhelmed staff. Bad service. First and last time.

Great restaurant with a large terrace and long hours. Recommendable.

We were two people. There was already a big (!) language problem when greeting us, the employees all only spoke Italian. We were able to place the order quickly, despite the language barrier. After 15 minutes the pizza arrived. As we are used to in Switzerland, we eat together and so person A waited. After another 10 minutes, person B complained. People hastily pressed the tablet and another 5 minutes later the gnocchi were there too. These were excellent! Unfortunately the pizza dough wasn't cooked through, so I have to deduct points

Very good pizzas and good service

NEVER AGAIN. First waited 15 minutes on the terrace for a card. Then after another 20 minutes ordered 2 pizzas. One was the wrong one and wasn't cut (this was requested due to arm amputation). Wine only came when we had the last two bites of pizza in our plates. Nothing worked from A to Z.

UNFORTUNATELY…. Very bad service! 3 people at the table, 2 almost finished their food which tasted wonderful when the pizza was served for the 3rd person! A no go!!! No apology from the waiter or chef de service! And awesome!!! Payment by card. The amount of the receipt did not match the amount of the settlement on the card payment device!

This Italian tourist restaurant is an absolute disaster. The food is an insult to taste buds everywhere, and the staff seem to have mastered the art of terrible service. Avoid at all costs if you value your palate and your sanity.

Extremely disappointing experience in this tourist trap Italian restaurant. Tourist atmosphere, excessive prices and poor quality of food. Inattentive service, tasteless dishes, disappointing desserts. A salad in "large size" was actually ridiculous for almost 20 CHF. The icing on the cake is that a carafe of tap water costs CHF 3.50. The busy waiter took out his tablet to take the order before we had even finished speaking. The restaurant clearly prioritizes profits over customer satisfaction. Absolutely avoid.

Food was very good, however, the lady's toilet stunk of urine. Turned out urines were left on the seat of one of the toilets and dried up, hadn't been cleaned, which is not acceptable in a restaurant or in any establishment.

The food was great despite there being a lot of guests in the restaurant, the food came very quickly. Unfortunately the toilets are a total “no go”. It smelled of old urine and one of the toilets was clogged and the hygiene was poor. We had visited the restaurant a few weeks ago and there was already a problem with the hygiene and the smell in the toilet. The soap rack on the wall was literally hanging by a thread. Despite reporting, the problem was not solved after 2 hours.

A very decent place to enjoy a wood fire oven pizza. The pizza tasted very good. The pasta was nothing to write home about. Service is friendly and fast. The restaurant is pretty big and can get crowded.

“Do you also offer take-away”? --> Yes, of course. “How much does a take-away pizza cost”? --> You get great pizza at a low price. Pizza Prosciuto "large" - corresponds to normal size, price 20.90 francs! Recommend other restaurants like Da Bucolo, good take-away offer, much more suitable in terms of price.

Amazing food, awesome decorations but a bit pricey but that is given I guess in Switzerland! For water they charged 6+CHF, crazy. Nonetheless I liked the good, even they were open in an odd hour (16h). Overall good experience.

Very tasty food! Short waiting times. We ate outside and the ambience was great👍 Unfortunately, the service didn't convince me at all. At the beginning I gave our waiter number candles to put in my best colleague's dessert as a surprise because it was her birthday tomorrow and we were celebrating. He asked me if he should just bring something for dessert or if she ordered something herself and then the candles were just there. I told him to just bring something and do it right after dinner. After dinner it took about 15 minutes for someone to bring us a dessert menu. I kept looking around for our waiter who was no longer there. Then it took another long time until someone took our order. Somehow none of the other staff noticed us... Our waiter from the beginning was still missing... After a while we ordered dessert from a woman and I informed this waitress about the candles. Afterwards the dessert was served by another waiter, of course without candles. I was a bit upset because I wanted to surprise my colleague and I didn't understand what was so difficult about it... well, it wasn't that bad, I thought. Then I told this waiter to please put the candles on there. He disappeared with the plate. After a short while I was supposed to come to him and tell him whether my colleague was 32 or 23. That gave the rest to my patience😅 I told him 23 and went to the table without saying a word. I was really very disappointed about this incident because I just wanted to surprise my colleague... Well, it's not that bad now, it can happen. But the staff was generally always friendly. Just a little disorganized and probably stressed. And I understand that when you're stressed you forget things. It's just a shame that the communication between the waiters and waitresses doesn't seem to be optimal. Although it wasn't a surprise in the end, it was a nice dinner :)

Da Vinci on Waisenhausplatz in Bern is a great Italian restaurant! The food is fresh and delicious and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. Especially in summer it is wonderful to sit outside on the square and enjoy the beautiful weather. The atmosphere is inviting and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The menu offers a wide selection of classic Italian dishes prepared with care and passion. I've been to Da Vinci several times and have never been disappointed. It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Bern. If you're looking for an authentic Italian meal in a beautiful setting, Da Vinci is the perfect choice!
