Eden Beach in Thunersee

Wonderful for treating yourself to a drink in between. Instead of getting stuck in traffic near Thun, it's a good place to spend some time. The wonderful view of the lake, the Stockhorn and the Niesen would still inspire Paul Klee today. There is also fantastic tarte flambée, possibly the best in the region. It also has a dock if anyone is traveling by boat :-)

They don't have too many staff at the moment / therefore understandably longer waiting times...but very good food and very friendly staff

Small, fine restaurant/lounge with a view of the lake and mountains. We consumed chocolate cake and coffee.

Outstandingly idyllic on the terrace by the lake (little going on when the weather is good in mid-February). With a bit of luck with a view of the Jungfrau 🏔️

It couldn't be worse. Before the change in ownership, I thought the restaurant was good. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. Everyone was unfriendly, overwhelmed and we had to wait a long time. Unfortunately the burger was still raw and cold. The view was amazing, maybe another change of company wouldn't hurt.

The Eden is rather inconspicuous from the street. I almost left again 😃 But the view of Lake Thun while eating with a view of the Niesen and the Bernese Alps is great. The tartar from our own highland cattle is highly recommended. Very friendly staff. Really recommended

Absolutely not recommended! Hygiene doesn't exist locally! That's already fraud! The dear boss has incredible problems with every company!!! We'll have to report this!

Small, cute place with a lot of potential. The location has been chosen top on the lake with breathtaking views. The hostess is working hard, which characterizes a good hostess. When you drive past, I would definitely stop for a drink or a snack.

The best thing we had this afternoon was the beautiful view of the lake and the mountains The serving daughter from this afternoon December 27th, 2023 was totally overwhelmed with so few people on the terrace, what does she do when the terrace is full? Tarte flambée was edible and when it was cleared away she didn't even ask if it was good or if we had another wish. We only heard one saying from her everywhere on the terrace I'm coming I'm coming and the guests had to wait until they could order or pay Such a shame for such a beautiful small restaurant by the lake

Service unusable..! I had to return Aperol only with mineral. Things were forgotten at our table several times! Staff doesn't understand Swiss German! Toilet facility was not clean..! the prices too high…? Sunday 10/1/23 The weather was nice 5 stars. Not recommendable..!

Fish fries and French fries - I won't do that to myself anymore!

Unfortunately, Eden Beach is no longer one of my favorite restaurants since the change of operator! We had to wait too long for attention from the slow and disorganized waiter, despite reservations and even though there were only a few guests. The size of the Greek salad has shrunk by half, but the price has remained the same. The tarte flambées were edible, but I found the overall atmosphere to be cheerless and loveless. When paying, either the waiter miscalculated or added his own tip. It's a shame, because the location near the lake is beautiful! Still, I won't be back anytime soon, if at all.

Located on the shores of Lake Thun, it is a place with a panoramic view of the surrounding peaks, where simple cuisine is served, made with fresh produce; in particular, salads and Flamenkuch are a treat.

Super nice place. Tarte flambée was delicious, only the homemade iced tea was a bit sober for my taste. But the turquoise water was visually impressive. The service was super nice, we felt very welcome. The view is a dream!

We had a fantastic meal here at short notice on a friday evening. The staff were accommodating, friendly and efficient. The food was great, the setting was perfect and we all had a lovely evening!

Here you only pay for the beautiful view. The food and service are terrible. Far too expensive, perch fillet with equipment (cheap frozen product in terms of taste), fries are almost unsalted. It's a shame for the beautiful location of the restaurant.

No longer what it was with the previous owners. We were served after 15 minutes and everything was run down. For example, there were only 2 food and drink menus put together... It's a shame...

We had a delightful dinner here. The wait staff was very friendly and the views can't be beat. The evening ambiance by the water was beautiful and intimate. They have a wide variety of drinks, both with and without alcohol, and their menu features various local dishes as well as dishes that can please a variety of tastes. We started with drinks, then shared a Greek salad (great presentation and filled with very flavorful veg). My husband had the highland burger and I had the original flammkuchen, both of which were delicious. We finished up with some after dinner drinks and had enough time to enjoy our time by the water without ever feeling rushed nor neglected by the servers. Overall, a great meal in an excellent spot.

The food is below average, the starter was served after the main course and be careful with the tartare, it caused an upset stomach. The service seemed overwhelmed. The best thing is the view of the lake and mountains.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed from A to Z... practically nothing worked out. -Apparently the online reservation was not available despite confirmation - No child seats -No changing facilities (just upgrade for the little hosts!!!) -Service staff had their first day at work (we completely understand but are still totally out of our minds) -The old, “cheaper” card is still activated online -For the little one, a bratwurst for 11.50 without anything... not even bread -Burger meat was burnt and on the grill for too long and fries had practically no salt (salt reordered) -Service staff wanted to clear plates three times even though we pointed out that the little one wasn't that quick to eat -Lastly asked about the dessert menu and ordered 2 ice cream cups. After being bored and even asking for cream, there was no vanilla left at all -Last invoice mistyped and presented 7500.- instead of 75.- -Dream view, simply amazing, just the operation, no dear people, it doesn't work that way for a long time. Bag weak and completely overpriced and last but not least a stomach ache. SHOP CLOSING SORRY!!!!!

Low key place to sit at waters edge and have a drink or some food. Very nice and parking available.

A beautiful place on Lake Thun. Directly on the lake with a magnificent view of the Bernese Oberland. The tarte flambée was the best I've ever had. Fresh and great. Highly recommended.

Nice place for a drink and a snack

A great little place to enjoy a cocktail, find food, and a fantastic view of Lake Thun, with the Alps in the background. I ordered the pub burger which was made from locally raised Highland cattle raised by the owner of the establishment. We all ordered apéritif‘s, which were as expected, very good. Probably the best part of the experience is looking across the water at all the boats going by and the Alps in the background. Highly recommended as a place to chill out after a long journey to get to Lake Thun, and before you go to bed for your first night.

Small but nice. Never had juicier chicken nuggets. That's what we get the best grades for.

We ordered a tartare. This was no longer fresh, we had to vomit and had diarrhea and stomach cramps. This restaurant used to be so great at this location. Today the hygiene conditions are catastrophic. We will not visit this restaurant again.

Nothing great just a bar restaurant on the lake...with Swiss price

We've been coming here for over 10 years, it's the most beautiful bar/café on Lake Thun and we still have sneezes in front of our eyes.! But because of the incompetence of the Thunerstatthalteramt, we now have to get the drinks/food on the terrace ourselves. A sad picture for us Lake Thun. Greetings from RTL/Sat1 NEW!! A miracle has happened. Serving on the terrace again!!

The two of us ate tartare and there was no salt and pepper on the table. The tartar was roughly cut😪, bread wasn't toasted well😪 It used to be much much better true very disappointed Kind regards A.Siegenthaler

Wonderful view and delicious food

It's a beautiful place by the lake. Unfortunately it has deteriorated. It's no longer as personal as before. I think it's a shame that more people don't make use of this beautiful place. It's also a shame that it's self-service.

Little activity last Saturday at lunchtime: Employees stand around and don't serve the small terrace because it's "terrace self-service". No wonder there isn't much going on despite the restaurant in the best lakeside location.

Very cool location! I can really only recommend it. And for Switzerland the prices are really okay! The staff is quick and friendly. Gladly again!!!

The view here is absolutely stunning on a good weather day. But they need to put some work into the food, the hamburger we had got a frozen beef patty that was tough and rubbery.

Great lakeside cafe! The views are incredible and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Staff was friendly and food/drinks were good. Great place to take in the sights.

Big dishonest people, not nice...

Unfortunately can no longer be recommended. The food wasn't bad, but only a very small portion and the price/performance ratio wasn't right at all. It's a shame for the beautiful location right on the lake. Will not be visiting this restaurant again for the time being. (Pictures and menu are not current, come from before the change.)

Tarte flambée was cold and not as loving as before. Iced coffee was an overturned coffee ice cream on a coffee cup saucer. A pity

Unfortunately no longer recommended. We used to enjoy staying at Eden when it was under the old ownership. The view is great, no question, but the food is too overpriced. Green salad? Unfortunately it was a handful of Migros budget salad that I can make myself at home. For the tarte flambée, the mushrooms came from a can. Unfortunately, the tarte flambée itself is no longer of the same quality as the old owner. A pity. The staff was friendly.

Had a birthday celebration there, the food is just excellent and so is the service. The view on the lake is amazing, and there are few ducks hanging ariund. Love the place, hope I have a chance to return there

Charming and wonderful food. We stopped to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake and were surprised by a waiter who spoke super friendly English and wonderful food - ordering a burger and salsa. If you are passing by on this road, stop here and enjoy

Super nice in the evening while the sun goes down, right on the lake. There are a few tables on the boat dock at the lake. Highly recommended locally. Small, manageable map. Prices are in the higher price segment, so the price/performance ratio is rather poor (Hugo comes without mint, although it is noted on the menu, Campari Orange is not served separately but mixed...)

A pity. Beef tartare was no longer fresh and you could smell it too. The salad was actually all from a can except for the leaf lettuce. The staff doesn't care and doesn't ask how it was. It doesn't have any Ukrainian employees either and using this as an "excuse" that the employees are a bit slow etc. I find very bold. All employees spoke perfect German. Such a beautiful place you could really do something with it, but not like this. Definitely won't come again.

It took ages until we were served and that's not an exaggeration - we sat there for at least 35 minutes despite speaking to the waitress twice. The food was okay but very little and very expensive. Furthermore, I was denied the salmon tarte flambée and the table next door, which came almost 30 minutes after us, was served before us and got the last one even though I had already ordered it. The location is the only positive thing about the bar right on Lake Thun.

We wanted to take a little break there, eat and drink something. On the map we read the note about the Ukrainian personnel there. As a guest, you understand that you have to be patient... Our waitress walked around the buffet for a long time and was no longer interested in serving us. When we then approached her and she came to our table, she said cheekily: If you have a waitress for me, bring her here to me. We left voluntarily without consuming anything and will certainly not set foot in this unfriendly shop again.

I had tarte flambée with salmon and had to look for my topping that cost 23 francs... The view is awesome I'll come back to drink even if it's overpriced but it's worth it to me. Thanks for the great service, it does it very well

Cheap tasteless decor, cheap staff, 08:15 food with small portions compared to the overpriced prices is a great basis for this place to close again soon.

I used to go there once or twice a week for a beer and something small to eat. Thanks to the prices and the small portions, I don't do this anymore

We have always enjoyed visiting Eden Beach on our holidays. Since the change, the prices have risen significantly without anything in return and everything looks very run down. Very small portions for a lot of money (a small bratwurst for 24!!). We'd love to come back for a drink because the location is so great (even if the beer is also overpriced), but we won't be coming back for food, even if it was tasty.

Friendly staff, delicious hamburger, perfect view

Unfortunately no longer good after the change. Service poor and overpriced for what you get. Excuses such as unfortunately only Ukrainian staff are not possible because the service speaks Swiss German. The furnishings were also very used and thrown together. It wasn't really nice before, but it was still a step backwards.

I agree with Daniela Hotz's comment! At 6:30 p.m. warm white wine was poured with the flippant remark: I don't know if it's cold! Unfriendly, dismissive service and operation totally overwhelmed! Am or was a long-time guest with decent consumer behavior! Despite the great location, we will consistently avoid this place from now on!

We were there again after the reopening. When we arrived, no one acknowledged or greeted us. A nice “Hello” was too much to expect. The crew was more concerned with themselves than with the guests. After finding a table ourselves, we were able to order something to drink after 15 minutes. There was no ticket at that time. The homemade "iced tea" came in warm glasses and was warm!! 3dl for 5.5. - We could then order something after we receive the cards. We chose a mixed salad as a starter, a tarte flambée and the burger. Since there is nothing to go with the burger for 22.-, we ordered a small fries for 7.50.- additionally. After 30 minutes without a starter we paid for the two iced teas and left. Total 45 minutes for two drinks without seeing anything to eat... Thanks, but never again....!!

We had made a reservation and were not greeted or welcomed. After 5 minutes at the table I asked if it was self service. Then we finally got the card. Unfortunately, our order wasn't taken after 15 minutes and so we left Eden.

The staff are wonderful in their treatment and the place is excellent for sitting and ordering drinks only. But it is not good (bad) for food orders at all, and they do not have a variety of orders, and their prices are similar to expensive restaurants.…

Very poor service since the new tenant, I've never experienced anything like what's going on there. We waited a very long time for the drinks. When the drinks came, we received something completely different than what we ordered. Where people ordered food, the food came out cold. Many complained about the cold food. When it came to paying, they don't even have a cash register system where you can check the receipt. Service staff simply say a number, you can't even understand whether the total is correct and what we had. I lost the desire to be in this beach lounge for another minute. Once and never again as long as the new tenant is on it.

Luckily open again! After a short period of closure and uncertainty, Eden Beach with its great location right on the lake is open again. The menu is still small, but the tarte flambée is still very good. Friendly service that makes a lot of effort despite initial difficulties.

A great service in a great location

We go there for theirflammekuch, the view. The place is perfect for an aperitif.
