We ordered one portion but they didn’t say anything and brought 2 portions for 4 people. We ordered cheese fondue and it was disgusting, the portions were small too and the kitchen was very dirty. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Welcoming, quiet and clean place. Run by very kind young guys, quick and attentive to every diner. Very rich menu but the fondue... is special!!! Prices on average with the place. The thought of tasting a homemade sweet to take home was very welcome.

We found this gem in the city centre of Lugano two steps from the main square and less crowded, perfect spot. Italian traditional dishes and perfect attention. This gentlman Ricky made us to feel at home.

Beautifully laid out terrace with charming atmosphere. We sat on Grande after a long walk and definitely their food made our day. We recommend you to go for the pacchieri, rissoto or the delicious tartare of gambero rosso. A top one in my Lugano list.

I had the opportunity to try the Grande Caffé Bistrot and was extremely satisfied. The food was delicious and the place lovely, with friendly and attentive staff. Internal courtyard and outdoor tables in the summer season. The cook demonstrated incredible skill. I highly recommend this restaurant for a high end dining experience.

My partner and I decided to have dinner in this restaurant on New Year's Eve, it was possible to order the set menu of meat or fish. I took the fish one, in addition to having to wait more than half an hour between one course and another, the fish was not fresh, all the dishes had particular unappetising tastes. I'm sorry I made my companion spend 300 fr to leave hungry and very disappointed. Terrible service and food!

In the central square of Lugano, a beautiful heated outdoor terrace with a view of the Christmas tree. Fairly well-stocked card...but I think we could be more daring!

The food was delicious and the service was quick and polite. I can therefore recommend this restaurant. It's definitely even nicer in the summer when you can sit outside. Currently (in winter) a kind of tent terrace with radiant heaters has been set up.

A group of 15 of us went here during a trade event as some were eager to try Swiss fondue. The service was a bit slow, some of us had finished when others got their meal, and the payment took forever. The menu is a bit of everything, including poke bowls :p, and quality can't live up to other places we ate at. Beyond located on an old town square near the waterfront, it feels like you pay more for the location. It is what it is, a tourist oriented restaurant. I wouldn't return or recommend to others.

Nice place in the main square. Excellent view of the lake. The menu is vast, both restaurant and pizzeria dishes. They have lots of tables outside and on a beautiful sunny day it's really pleasant to be there. The dishes were very good, the service overall was fast but the employees are a little distracted having so many tables to manage. The bathrooms were unfortunately dirty and difficult to reach. They are located on the first floor and to access them you have to climb a very narrow staircase with worn and slippery steps.

Very disappointed by this bar, where we stopped for an aperitif just to try: the prices are in line with the context (altini), but they only served us a few breadsticks and nothing else. Unacceptable, considering that the other bars in the Square try hard to serve other appetizers. Never at the level of a Milanese aperitif, but not even at the skimpy level of Zurich aperitifs. If they don't change their tune, we won't go back.

I think 10 chf for a beer is a bit expensive. The pizza was good and within the normal price range. Service was excellent, very nice and attentive staff

We were in Lugano for 1 day and wanted to end the evening quietly. When we arrived at Federale we felt like we had arrived; the service was super nice and accommodating. I ordered a burger with fries that cost €25. It's sad that the patty was TK but it was completely charred on the bottom. I told the nice lady from the service who then immediately brought me a new one. But it's 2/3 raw. I hope the chef wasn't there, otherwise goodnight. When the bill came I got a 10 percent discount on the bill (1 burger + 1 pizza, 2 beers and 1 bottle of water) €65 instead of €73. Shame on you

Good in general, but wont come back here again. Pizza and pasta were good. Definitely, not genuine Italian quality (you could get it anywhere else).The good part was that the staff gave good attention, the worst part was the salmon!!! Lack of creativity and overall just bad quality and terrible. Not even enough tomatoes. Undercooked and easily made better at home (+ it was the most expensive thing we bought!) At least my son and daughter liked their food (pizza and pasta)it came pretty quick, and the location is good and comfortable, but the rest wasn’t as good. Wont be coming back soon though.

It's a cozy restaurant with friendly staff. Still, something was missing for me. There was no bread with the salad and my saffron risotto with Luganighe looked strange. The sausage was crumbled and I had a bit of a bad feeling because it looked a little like dog food. I expected a whole sausage. Or at least cut into wheels, but definitely not breadcrumbs.

This place was one of the only ones this entire summer, in four countries, that are smart enough to have fans!! We sat under the ceiling fans and not only were cool on a super hot evening but no flies!!! We just cannot understand why no one gets that fans help!! Tremendously!! Flies are disgustingly terrible in Europe and no one does anything about it! We would rate this place high just for that reason!!! But the food was pretty good. The pizza dough especially. The lasagne was so so. I honestly can’t recall the service or the condition of the toilets. Just the fans. lol

2nd time back to this restaurant after 3 years. The service is fast & smart. Everything we had was freshly made and tasted great. The wine was a nice surprise. We had a nice time with great surrounding scenery. Of course it is pricey compared to Euro zone because you are in Switzerland and Lugano is such a charming place. Now I think it is still one of the best value proposition you can get there when you take into account all the positives (including the amazing wine stool that was homemade by the waiter 👍)

Do not recommand. One waiter was really friendly but he was the only one. We had fish, it was good but barely any sauce even though on the menu it was a selling point. The salad on the side tastet like water with vinegar. Overall it was very dry. Also: too pricey for what you get.

The pizzas are good and plentiful, the service is fast, the staff is friendly and discreet. Be careful, pay in Swiss francs, the exchange rate for the euro is very unfavorable.

Far too much waiting when the restaurant is not even full... customers who arrived 30 minutes later are already served even though we ordered 1 hour ago. Very unpleasant, the other restaurants never made us wait.

Got a pizza, no flavour at all, I mean you would need to try very hard to make a pizza lacking so much flavour. I tried to get the waitress for another drink, she gestured with her hand in a dismissive way which was extremely insulting, okay, thought she was coming over to get order after doing something. No, after 10 minutes my wife finally got her as she was walking by yet again, we had to wait 15 minutes after that. All the while she is walking around and several of her colleagues also. Terrible service, could not be worse. Will never go back.

We were there last sunny Sunday for lunch. Great location, good food quality (fresh ingredients) but unfortunately poor service. I accept that during rush hour service might be slower than usual. However, waiting time of 45 minutes for your dish and another 30 minutes for the check is not acceptable. Salad and main dish were served at the same time. The main dish was cold. The 3rd star is for the friendlyness of the service staff.

Great service, good food! We were there for dinner with a toddler. I must say the staff was so courteous and sweet in their service. Food was good. And as mom, best part was my kid liked the simple butter penne pasta they made and finished the whole serving. I would come again!!

One of our dishes was way too salty, the schnitzel from the kids menu was basically a fried slice of ham and the mushrooms on the pizza were canned mushrooms… what self respecting restaurant uses canned mushrooms?!!! The staff was very friendly and the fish tasted good.

Very good restaurant in the city center. Varied menu menu for all tastes. Meat fish pasta but not only Italian but some Swiss dishes like fondue or Rösti. Current price for the location. This evening caprese salad, mussels marinières and sea bass tartare with house white wine house pana cotta 2 limoncello 1 mineral water 1 espresso and 1 proceseco for 144chf. The tartare was really good but lacked a bit of seasoning or their sauce. Everything very good and well presented and the young waiter helpful and patient and multilingual

The cliché of the tourist restaurant: menu where you can find everything from pizza to fondue, and therefore no identity or finesse. It's simple, it's not far from the lake, and that's it. Instead, go to the center for other addresses.

We went for breakfast and I won't go back again. Good cappuccinos and disgusting gipfeli. But has the owner ever tried Italian croissants? Update!!!

The lasagne was burnt and dry. They just put a layer of tomato sauce on top to hide the black burnt marks!

Pizzas were good. There is a deduction for the children's hamburger: far too big and dry. There is a further deduction for the fact that the staff work unemotionally and with little motivation. There were no questions asked and you always had to call the waitress yourself if the glass was empty.

We ate salad and pizza there, it was carelessly prepared and we didn't like it that much either. Wouldn't go there anymore. Service was also mediocre.
