Fenice in Luzern

I was UNFORTUNATELY recently visiting Fenice and unfortunately my experience was far from satisfactory. First of all, the chef de service was extremely arrogant and unpleasant to deal with. His arrogance spoiled the atmosphere and contributed to marring the dining experience. Furthermore, the other guests in the restaurant were incredibly loud and cheeky. Their conversations were distracting and made it difficult to concentrate or have a pleasant conversation. It seemed like the restaurant didn't have adequate control over patrons' behavior. As for the food, unfortunately the pizza I ordered was undercooked. The dough was still raw in the middle, which represents a clear lack of care in the kitchen. This significantly affected the taste and quality of the dish. All in all, my visit was a disappointing experience. The combination of an arrogant chef de service, loud and rude guests, and subpar prepared food made it a place I will not visit again.

Despite a very short-term reservation and, as we later found out, the restaurant was very busy, four of us were allocated a great table at the time we requested. The restaurant is very nice, rustically furnished and has an airy, warm atmosphere. We immediately felt very welcome and comfortable. Even before choosing the restaurant and making a reservation at La Fenice, it was clear to us that we wanted to enjoy a meatless evening. We were put to the test because of the wonderful grilled taste that subtly spread throughout the restaurant. Our chosen dishes, linguine, spaghetti, pizza and gnocchi were all served at the same time, beautifully presented and hot. The pizza base was nice and crispy, the ham on it was of excellent quality, the pasta was al dente and the gnocchi with mascarpone was excellent. The young service staff was very attentive, always present without seeming intrusive. Also the boss junior. He didn't miss the opportunity to ask us how we were and was happy to take the time to exchange a few words, even though the restaurant was always busy and he was very committed himself and looked after all the guests. And by the way...you speak and understand Swiss German. La Fenice is an absolute recommendation. We'll definitely be back for something delicious from the grill.

The pizza names are chosen randomly and don't fit the pizza at all. Best shop for stupid tourists, yes I'm one too.

The restaurant met full marks in all three criteria. Top food, super friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. Absolutely clear recommendation!

One of the worst burgers I’ve ever had in my life! We ordered the burgers Medium Rare. They all came Well Done! The meet tasted as it came from the supermarket! The waitress were very not welcoming! Cold and unpleasant waitress! We ordered the Burgers because normally it is the option on the menu it is harder to make mistakes… But they managed to screw up badly even with the burgers… Totally a Tourist Trap! Definitely don’t recommend!

Very nice and helpful service. We were also allowed to go with the dog. The food was excellent. I can definitely recommend it and we will be happy to stop by again 😊

The sign outside the restaurant advertised a special, lamb dinner with salad. We got there early, at 5:30 pm. We were the first customers. We sat there and were ready to order. We were told that lamb special was not available. The whole time we were there the sign was never removed outside their restaurant. We stayed and I ordered an Angus hamburger with fries. The burger was barely warm. I wanted a medium-cooked burger but got well done instead. This was not a pleasant or enjoyable dinner😟

The food tasted bland. Price/performance is not right. A burger for 40fr, you could have made a delicious sauce with more pizzazz. Even 1 slice of cucumber and 1 lettuce leaf was more than minimal. A pity But the fries were very tasty

Very good seafood pasta, al dente and good taste. Just, the chicken in the Caesar salad was very dry.

When I asked if I could get the carbonara without bacon (vegetarian), I got a wonderful vegi carbonara with vegetables! There were six of us and we got a table without a reservation (even though the restaurant was very nice). Everyone really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Price-performance ratio is perfect, completely satisfied!

Try the Risotto, it is from another world.

One of the best restaurants I have tried in the area

The food was so-so... my gnochi were not to my taste at all, they were very bland and fattening. And my son's spaghetti carbonara was nothing special at all. Already had 1000x better ones for the same price. The tomato soup was sensational and the lamb chops were okay. The service was quite nice, but very difficult to understand because of his accent. I could have spent the 200+ francs, for 3 people plus a small child, better elsewhere.

Food was OK but nothing special, staff very friendly. But untrained, a bit embarrassing for this situation in Lucerne. Price performance is also ok.

Good meat, but had to send my steak back because they overcooked it. My son wanted a burger, but they came to tell us they were out (even though it's supposed to be the same meat as my steak....). My wife and I ordered different sauces, but each got both! My truffle butter had taste, but too much salt. All in all we could have had better for the price we paid.....

The food was very tasty, but the food was only served after more than 45 minutes and the long waiting time was not even mentioned. About five minutes after we finished eating, we were asked to leave the restaurant because the seats were now needed. When paying, the waitress seemed annoyed that she hadn't received a tip.

Waiting for food to arrive is long but everything else is good and the food is delicious.

The most unfriendliest restaurant I found so far of my visit in Switzerland. You know when you have sat in the restaurant and regretted a minute later. But less restaurants were open on Christmas eve. Staff didn’t even try to be friendly, didn’t explain well what were in the menu, didn’t say thank you/bye when I left. Nothing special about the pizza for a quite pricey one. Can’t really say if there was any vegetarian options.

A spontaneous visit to Fenice was worth it. The wine prices here are pretty much the best you can get in Lucerne Great food

We were there for the third time now. At the entrance we were immediately greeted again. The atmosphere is very cozy and harmonious. The staff very friendly and accommodating. We were always served with a smile. People are also very happy to give tips. You can tell that it is sincere and also authentic. We recommend.

On vacation in Lucerne, I come from Paris. The pizza dough is thin, there are four pieces of tuna which fight a duel for the price (25€) there are no toppings, for 15€ in Paris the pizza is 1000 times better. I asked the waiter if the meat was halal, he told me "yes all meats" without even understanding my question. I can't judge the others such as the meat and the burgers which must certainly be good... Well I hope so.

I first tried to reserve a table online, but after an hour nothing came, so I thought I'd call, not too big of a problem but yes, it should normally work if there is an opportunity to do so. The way the dish is presented speaks for itself (see photo), I don't think there's anything much to say about it other than that I, as a non-trained restaurateur, would be able to do it much better. The taste didn't convince me at all, it tasted very bland, I only ate it because I was hungry, but I certainly wouldn't order it a second time, let alone come to this restaurant again. In the end we weren't asked if the food was okay, otherwise I would have complained straight away and wouldn't have to do it here.

My husband and I dined in last night, we ordered Pizza and Pasta. We thought both were pretty good and it came out really fast! The pasta sauce was really on point as well. Alex, our waiter, was really nice, professional and thoughtful. We'll be back! Danke!!

We had reservations and got a nice little table for 2! Then we ordered our drinks after the appetizers plus our main dishes: appetizers bruschetta and a mixed salad and main dish beef filet with Risotto and beef entrecôte! The meat we ordered medium rare! The appetizers took about 45 min until we received it and the main dish came right after. The meat was cooked almost all the way well done and the risotto was so salty we couldn’t eat it. As nice as the service lady’s tried to be we could hardly understand them. I can’t recommend this place and we will not go anymore. They did apologize which was nice but still overall its not nice

Gnocchi are delicious, the portion is big. The hamburger is tasty, the chicken is juicy. Delicious homemade fries. But the pizza didn't impress.

We ate here. Restaurant was ok so far and had a total of 4 dishes. 3 of them were ok to great. But the chicken skewer from the grill didn't taste good at all and was extremely dry. It's also a shame that the service employees don't understand German well. But ok for a tourist hotspot.

As Americans visiting from out of town we absolutely loved this restaurant! We discovered it wandering through old town and it did not disappoint. Some of the best pasta dishes we had outside of Italy. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the ingredients tasted to fresh. Would highly recommend!

Although the steak and lamb chops cost 150 Swiss francs, the quality of the food and the dining environment are very good, and it is completely worth the price; it is worth mentioning that the mushroom cream sauce is very rich and delicious

The food taste good. I ordered swiss beef and a tomato cream soup. Both are very good and the meat is correctly cooked as ordered. For the service, the waitress gave us a great information but seem a lil bit upset about somthing since she were not smiling at all and didnt say thank you as we paid and left the restaurant. The atmosphere is quiet, warm, private.

Friendly service, though food tasteless (ordered pizza, pasta e meat) and pasta was so overcooked that was sent back twice, without any improvement, and finally charged anyway on the bill. Didn't like also the smell in the patio.

The food is not bad in this place, but it is one of the typical ones that charges you a minimum consumption per diner (we had to order a salad for it) they also charge you 5 francs for tap water... Other than this, the pizzas were good, with thin dough and fresh, tasty products. The waitress served us very well. As a general rule, they are usually very polite and correct.

I was here at lunchtime and enjoyed a very tasty pizza including a menu salad. Price/performance good. I was served in English - broken, I don't think there was any German...

What impressed me the most about this staff was their ability to strike the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving us space to enjoy our meal. They anticipated our needs without being intrusive, ensuring our glasses were always filled and promptly clearing away dishes, all while being discreet and unobtrusive. I do not know the names of the staff but they were very beautiful and polite ladies. I do recommend to visit this restaurant. You will be not dissapointed!

Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the waitress who immediately made us feel welcome and attended to our needs. Throughout the evening, the staff demonstrated an impressive level of professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care for their guests.

Service was poor. The girl was making the impression that she doesnt want to be there. It looks like she didn't understand english. The food was ok, nothing to re ommend.

The place had a nice atmosphere is was very cosy and food was very yummy - pizza and pasta. We went on a very quiet day and did not not witness great service as other reviews have said, staff weren’t friendly at all.

To begin with, they didn't seat us in the restaurant because they didn't want to, they sat us in an alley with four tables even though there was space in the restaurant. Then the food was more or less good, I ordered a pizza to share. When it came time to collect, they charged us 5.50 francs more "because we ordered it to share and that cost them another plate." A scam, too expensive, not recommended

Nice location with ambience. Terrace on the Allmend behind the house, only a few pedestrians. Young staff. The food, steak and burgers, were really good.

I have visited this restaurant before and eaten there. Everything is great, it was great to be here again after a long time 🙏 The current staff is very friendly and understanding, they served me, my wife and my friends very well. A woman waitress looked after us, we were very satisfied. I received young potential and friendly service. We will be back definitely.

Everything was wonderful, especially the service. The grilled pork chop and chicken sandwich were tasty, and the wood fired mushroom pizza was worth every bite as well. One of our diners was a little bit of a picky eater but there were simple meals that could be ordered that were still delicious. I didn’t take any photos, except for a random, tail-less all white cat that wandered in for attention. Maybe that’s why I love this place even more. 😊

The inner courtyard is very cozy, you feel like you're on vacation there. That's what the only stars are for. The food (pasta) had no taste, you couldn't taste any of the truffle oil. The “light cream sauce” felt like half a liter of full cream. I had to look for the mushrooms. We seasoned ourselves at the table. Service has made an effort, but they are all very young and obviously not trained. We couldn't speak German and English was also difficult. At first they probably passed us 5 times without bringing the card or asking if we would like drinks. The restaurant was empty. We won't be coming back.

Delicious food, the Swiss are very strict about respecting genuine food recipes from other countries.

Streaks are quite expensive, so nobody tried them. Italian food was good, but not the best of our trip. Wine list has good selection with prices a bit high

Delicious food and very friendly staff. The portions were large and the value for money was great. A recommendation if you are in Lucerne and want to eat out. There were four of us and we had visitors from home. Everyone was very satisfied. We got space immediately.

I've been to the restaurant several times, but this time was the last. Service was really bad and unmotivated, hardly spoke any German, didn't even ask if everything was okay the whole evening and didn't pay any attention to us, turned off the light in the toilet even though they knew that we still wanted to use the toilet. No thanks and no goodbyes. Never experienced anything like this. Food was OK, except for the salad in the burger, which was very rotten. No decaffeinated coffee.

The place is beautiful, especially the terrace, we ordered hamburgers, we asked for a medium roast, they brought a very dry cutlet, the bun is delicious, the chips are oversalted, the rating is 3 with a stretch

Location is great and the menu is very attractive, but my wife and I had a bad experience and the pizza was very bad. My wife ordered a glass of wine and our waiter brought two. We said we only needed one glass and his response was “I wrote down two”. Instead of taking it back, he left it there. They wouldn’t let us split a pizza because per manager “it requires more clean up” the manager did end up taking back the one glass of wine after we complained while questioning splitting the pizza, so that would be the only positive. All in all, I only ended up having two slices of the over priced pizza and my wife didn’t want to even taste it because of the grease leaking off. When I asked for the check, our waiter didn’t even ask us or comment on why I only had two slices.

100% recommendable. Very friendly staff. Good ubication. The food is very delicious. We took a lunch menu that includes a salad buffet, soup and a choice of pasta or pizza for approx. 20 FR. The salad was very basic but the soup was delicious. The portions of pasta we chose were large and everything was very delicious. The truth is that it was a success and a surprise. I will return on my next visit

I entered at 21.00 to eat 2 T-Bone but it was not possible. the place closed at 11pm but while we were eating 2 pizzas they turned off the lights and started cleaning.

Unfortunately, the food (Pizza Margherita) had no taste and the service wasn't very competent either.

It was the best meat I had in Lucerne. Although it is a steakhouse, the pasta and pizza are delicious, and you can enjoy it even if you go with a large number of people. There aren't many types of beer, but Moretti had a deep flavor.

The food was ok, I found the portion rather small and the taste normal, nothing special for the price. I found service staff very unsafe. It was hard to understand them because they spoke so quietly. You just didn't feel "well served" as is the case in other restaurants. I think I wouldn't eat here again.

Good food and reasonably priced.

I reserved a table for 10 people for February 18th in October. Extra very early because then it is carnival in Lucerne. I made the reservation online and received a confirmation by email. At the beginning of February I called to increase the number of people to 11. Then the employee told me that they didn't have a reservation in my name and that they had sent me a cancellation. Since I still had the email with the confirmation, I was able to read it to him and he said it would probably be tight but they could manage it. I was very happy because I certainly wouldn't have been able to find a table for 11 people in such a short time. We were there yesterday and when we stood at the door they told us again that they didn't have a reservation from me. The restaurant was very full and there were a lot of people queuing in front of the door (carnival). After a long time back and forth, they told us that they were organizing something but we couldn't all sit together. Of course we understood that and were happy that it still worked out. As we were about to sit down, three ladies from the next table asked us if they should slide so that we could all sit next to each other. Only they would have been in between. However, the owner didn't like that at all and he became very unfriendly and angry and told us to just sit at the tables that had been provided. I could somehow understand that we shouldn't move the table 20cm, but no one understood why the women weren't allowed to slide so that we could all sit together. Because the women hadn't been there long and didn't have any food on the table yet. And especially why he became so unfriendly even though the restaurant forgot the reservation twice & not me!!! There's certainly a lot of stress on a carnival evening, but that's no reason to be so rude! The food was ready very quickly and also good. And the staff at the table was friendly.

We have reserved for 2 people. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with our visit. The service staff didn't seem to be well trained and could hardly speak any German. There was no chef de service to be seen anywhere. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of our food and the price-performance ratio wasn't right for us at all. For starters we had the tomato cream soup and the beef carpaccio. For the main course we ordered the 300g back Angus beef fillet and rib eye steak with risotto and market vegetables with truffle butter and herb butter. The starter arrived on time and was beautifully presented, but the carpaccio was still frozen and the meat didn't smell fresh. The soup tasted very sour and not like you would imagine cream of tomato soup to be. The risotto for the main course was overcooked and sticky and was seasoned too heavily with bouillon. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't convincing either and in our opinion the herb butter that was ordered with it wasn't homemade, which we found very unfortunate. We were repeatedly served by different service staff throughout the evening and were never asked how satisfied we were. One of the service employees cleared away the cutlery that had been set for the main course after the starter and when we received the main course, she only then realized that she should set the cutlery again. Our main course plates were not cleared away for a long time after a service employee saw several times that we were finished. We felt completely ignored and we were not asked if we would like any more dessert or coffee. We were really very disappointed with the whole evening and the untrained service staff. The food and drinks ended up costing us more than 180 CHF, which was a lot of money for such a disappointing visit. After this evening we will not eat at La Fenice again and will not recommend it to anyone else.
