The fact that only English was spoken really bothered me. The service staff is not attentive, if you want something you have to look for someone. The food was good for us, but unfortunately not very warm. My husband's duck was dry and without sauce.

A Chinese restaurant that was as delicious as it was rumored👍 Gong Bao Ji Ding (chicken) and Yu Xiang Chie Zi (eggplant) dishes are both so delicious!🩷 The xiao long bao wasn't full of meat, so I was disappointed, but it was delicious.

We had a very negative experience with this restaurant. We were looking forward to the Peking duck, which we had reserved 2 days in advance, but we still had to wait a very long time. The Peking duck was a disappointment. The skin was not crispy, but soft and greasy and tasted like fish. The value for money was completely unacceptable.

We had dim sum, mapo tofu and duck soup. Everything was very good and the mapo tofu was some of the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend. Will visit again!

Totally upset, we ordered at 6 in Uber eat, scheduled to be delivered at 7:30-8:00, and waited till 7:10. and then they cancelled our order without a notification. For waiting the food, we didn’t order other food, neither cooking. We were super hungry, and couldn’t find a spot in other restaurants. We used to be loyal costumer, but will not come anymore.

The food was by far the best Chinese food! In addition to the good food, the ambience is also something special. Make a reservation in advance as it is very busy at peak times.

I think the most important thing is to eat well, Huayuan is one of the options.😊 The restaurant uses fresh ingredients to prepare authentic taste and offers dishes in different flavors. The restaurant environment is clean and tidy. A combination of factors leads to the best Chinese restaurant in Capital and received Gault Millau 13 points. Bravo👍

A wonderful experience. The dishes are all delicious and delicious. It is the best Chinese restaurant we have tasted in Switzerland so far. It is rare to be able to eat such authentic Chinese food in Switzerland, a country with a lack of food.

We had the lunch buffet. It is definitely Chinese food for Western people (you need to order the chilli oil separately). But they a la carte menu for dinner and also hot pot upon reservation for ~40CHF per person (lunch or dinner). The service was fast and friendly. The food at the buffet had few options which is good but I would have appreciated more freshness in the food and less MSG (it is good at certain level but it felt like we needed to drink 3l water each 2h after lunch). Anyway, tasty option in Bern at a reasonable price if you want to have something naughty

There is room for improvement in the service. They don't speak German and work very slowly. The duck was dry but the approach was right. The boss offered the dish.

I really liked the food. Unfortunately the staff wasn't really friendly, maybe it was because of the language or because the inside of the restaurant was really full and therefore the staff was under pressure. For me, the ambience also suffers when the staff are in a bad mood.

I have never eaten such bad Asian food - the food was hardly seasoned and very bland. Almost 200.00 francs for the four of us. The best thing was the wine. Our criticism was even laughed at. It's a shame once and never again.

Authentic Chineese food.. one of the better Chineese restaurant so far I have tasted in Switzerland. I can compare as Asian this coming from and living in Singapore for 10 yrs..

Delicious and authentic Chinese food, unpretentious restaurant.

Finally decided to have hot pot with friends. We have known this store for a long time, but he has never been to it, so he just happened to have a meal this time. This hotpot needs to be booked in advance and costs 42 euros per person, including beef, mutton, seafood platter and vegetable platter. The hot pot soup base tastes quite good, and the mahjong dipping sauce is fragrant. In fact, it’s delicious when you add udon noodles to the spicy pot, but I was laughed at because I couldn’t put them together. It’s a good experience. If you want to eat Chinese food, this restaurant is a good choice.

Huayuan offers fantastically good food in generous quantities. If you choose a starter, you may be able to take leftovers home - depending on how hungry you are, of course. The menu is huge and should offer something for everyone.

Food lukewarm and completely tasteless. Menu buffet Fr. 18 would be ok but an additional soup for 12 francs is a disgrace. Little choice and a long wait for the soup. All of this spoils the ambience. Sorry, can't recommend it

If you are lucky, you'll get a table. A Restaurant with a lot of chinese tourist ( all come in travel bus). They all have priority. Kind of pitty to ignore most of local customers, even restaurant is kind of empty, there is a sign in front of the entrance saying " sorry we are fully booked"! The food is ok. Not cantonese cook though. Food is a wanna be cantonese and north China mixture....but is ok though, if the cook has time to cook for local customers. 10.07.2023 We sat down outside for 30 min., no service at all. Anyway, we found out that you have to call for service like they do in China. The food is OK, we enjoyed it. Don't expect they ask you for dessert, you have to ask for the dessert card and again call for service! Otherwise good luck sitting there expecting the waitress to come to you! It's summer, don't expect an air conditioner there. Inside the restaurant, the decorations are old and the table sticky. If you go there to eat, which I do suggest, don't forget to be active calling the waitress if you need service!

Good Chinese cuisine. Very popular in the area. Reservations are recommended as it is often fully booked. General Tso’s Chicken was phenomenally good! Kung Po Poule also recommended. Grilled duck with house marinade & lettuce, unfortunately the duck wasn't that crispy. All dishes were fresh and tasty.

Can't understand why people rate this place good. Maybe they all blindly follow the gault millau recommendation. Maybe the gault millau guide is somehow related to the restaurant or it was the internship guy! The food was really bad and soo much glutamat, that my mouth did hurt afterwards. We ordered the duck and it was rubbery and lean meat. The skin super fatty not crunchy and no seasoning at all. Even Suan long has the way better duck and this is just a cheap restaurant chain. The fried eggplant and mapo tofu were swimming in oil and had no extra love and tasted like store bought already preapared sauce. The spicy beef was the only ok dish but the meat had soo much tenderizer and it was swimming for sure in 2dl oil, so it was quite unpleasant as well. Most annoying was also the timing and service. After 30min one orderer dish of the friend came and the rest of the table had to wait. After 1h slowly also not at once the rest of the order arrived and we couldn't eat together cause every dish came with a long time inbetween.When everyone was already finished with eating after 1h my dish came and when I said I waited over 1h there was no apology. They simply asked if they should bring away the dish again. Before we orderer the bill they offered a free coffee for the long waiting time cause they noticed we were angry. We didn't take it but at least one soft drink got cancelled from the bill. Positiv was only the nice deco of the house the service experience was horrible and the food was really bad and for sure not good for your health. Stay away from here!

An insider tip and a great everyday opportunity to "immerse yourself" in another culture with delicious food with a very good price-performance ratio. Large portions and the ability to pack up the leftovers and take them with you. Absolutely friendly and courteous service (ideally in English). The menu is also described in German. The first visit, but definitely not the last "excursion into Asian cuisine"...!

Finally you can eat authentic and good Chinese food in the Canton of Bern!😊 I've been waiting for this for a long time! Huayuan offers many specialties from Beijing and Szechuan cuisine. If you like it spicy, you're in good hands here! The food was a pure pleasure. You won't find any "sweet and sour chicken" on the menu, and that's right. Because this dish doesn't exist in China either. The food was 10 out of 10, the place could do with some updating & modernization. I recommend making a table reservation if you plan to visit the restaurant on the weekend. There are often no tables available for spontaneous visitors.

The food was good. We had hot pot and there were lots of side dishes. Lamb was also there and that's not to everyone's taste. Whether meatloaf goes well with a hot pot is also a matter of taste. We were told that you can always order more if you run out. But it was charged additionally on the invoice. The atmosphere is cozy. The service is friendly and only speaks English.

I had to wait a long time for my order even though I ordered it in advance by phone, was very unfriendly and the price was far too high for 2 portions of fried rice.

Authentic Chinese cuisine. A large selection of delicious dishes with chicken, beef, lamb, duck, tofu and lots of vegetables. We were spoiled for choice and ordered too much. In the end we took the rest of the food with us, which still tasted great the next day.

A meal in most restaurants in Switzerland starts at CHF 25.00. But the buffet at this restaurant can fill you up for CHF 18.50. The food you get and the price you pay is well worth it. If you come to Bern, I recommend you to visit this restaurant and have a good meal. Wanna come back to have a buffet.

Previously a good restaurant for Chinese cuisine. Unfortunately, today it no longer convinces me. The food was almost inedible and the service wasn't good either. Food for 5 people came in a 30 minute time frame instead of everything coming together. Very few people who serve can speak German. A pity!

There's a saying in Chinese: A crane in a flock of chickens. Tried to do a walk-in, saw plenty of empty tables, the entire bar section had 8-10 empty stools, yet the waitress and presumably female owner had no interest in even trying to arrange anything and just told us: we're booked, with a robotic and emotionless expression. I guess it's not surprising when you're a mediocre subpar standout amongst a small flock (Bern).

I ordered via Eat.ch. Beef was raw!!!!! Szechuan way too spicy. Never again. Worst Chinese experience.

Salty foods have a lot of salt. Soup is very sour and difficult to eat. Stir-fried vegetables are greasy, full of cabbage, and the vegetables are very tough. The price is also expensive. The vegetable platter costs 20 euros.

We visited this restaurant because we're craving for Chinese hotpot, and totally enjoyed our experience here. The soup for the Chinese hot pot was great and on point, and the portion of food given was substantial and filling. They have quite an extensive menu too, and decided to try their xiao long bao as well. Service was great and food were delicious. If you want an authentic Chinese food experience, you should visit this place.

Best Chinese in Bern, hands down. I should know.

This is the second time I have ordered General Tso's Chicken. Unfortunately it's way too salty! The first time I thought, OK, maybe the chef was in love... But now again, I could only eat a small portion, I threw the rest away. Unfortunately it's inedible with so much salt in it!

We had Kung Po chicken and Ma Po Tofu here - both dishes are tasty 😋 Authentic Si-Chuan flavored, I would definitely recommend!!!

Although food is not bad, it took more than 40 minutes to received something on the table, and they forgot one dish we ordered. Prices are not cheap for Chinese food, portions aren't that big. Duck breast was a joke. No meat at all. I get more in the Loeb take away.

Amazing food and service. Honey walnut shrimp reminds me of Panda Express in the states and the three cup chicken was delicious as was the tangsuyuk. Best Asian we have had on our Swiss trip

Whether à la carte or buffet, everything is delicious and the prices are right. Take-away from the buffet for 10.- is great. Unfortunately, they fill up the buffet very poorly. Of the last 5 visits, 1-2 dishes were not refilled.
