Fischerstübli in Bern

Best tartare of my life. Great drinks too. Only the reservation wasn't ideal: we wanted to reserve a specific table. This is not possible because the principle is first come, first served. I don't find it pleasant, we had a person with severe claustrophobia, the window seat would have contributed greatly to a relaxing evening.

Quite simply the best restaurant for tartares. Subtle taste blends with the taste of meat dominating everything. Very good cocktail menu and top service. My favorite for Bern

Clearly five stars in every respect. A pleasure from A to Z. It doesn't always have to be chic. The restaurant is rather cozy. This makes it a perfect fit for Bern and the Matten Quarter. The dishes are consistently high quality. The tartare is truly the house specialty and I can also recommend it. The main course and dessert were great. Even the Amus Bouche was a feast. For spicy lovers there is a very spicy sauce. The service is tip top! We'd love to come back!

Beautiful resti (were inside) and very fine vegi tartar, accompanied by the super fine natural wine du moment. We really enjoyed the tasting evening! :)

Very good cuisine in an intimate setting. The prices are in the higher category but the quality is there.

Maybe my new Stammbeiz. Magnificent and relaxing place, excellent service and above all unbeatable value for money! I know of few restaurants here that still offer a menu for 19 francs. at lunchtime, and certainly not of this quality! All dishes are careful and tasty, lunch and dinner. Osso bucco, beef or fish tartars, game dishes... I recommend everything.

Superb moment on the Fischerstuebli terrace. Friendly and professional service. We were able to taste 3 open wines in order to choose the one that suited us best. The specialty, tartare of all kinds, is worth the detour. Excellent lunch.

Everything is just right here. The best tartar variants in Switzerland (not a bold claim). The service staff is extremely attentive and the team is also friendly and calm. The restaurant has charm and the location is cult anyway. Be sure to reserve in advance.

I am not sure how to begin this review. Amazing restaurant. The food is great, the service is impeccable. One example: We sat down outside and it started raining, immediately we had the opportunity to move inside. When it stopped we moved our again. The staff was incredibly helpful. Now, the food. Have you ever heard anything about the food not being nice in Switzerland? Well, the fried fish was way better than the one I had in many other see locations. The soup was tasty. The tartare was excellent. The coffee was good and their liquor selection too. Also, the location is wonderful: very quiet and next to the river: it's nice to enjoy a walk before or after dinner. I will definitely go back.

I had very friendly waitresses. Tiptop. I also really liked the atmosphere. I ordered a homemade cheesecake. The fact was that a square piece of cake (dry, hard and 1cm high) was served with cream on top. And I paid 14 CHF for it. This was anything but a cheesecake!!! Dry and disgusting. That was probably just the cake base. I'm never going there again. Two stars because the service and ambience were great.

Incredibly nice atmosphere and very nice service. Very regional products from water to gin to meat for the tartare. Excellent tartare and very good starters. A little tip: if you can't decide whether to have meat or fish tartare, you can divide the tartare between two people and enjoy it as a starter :)

Very comfortable outside and inside. Very quick service and an extensive selection of very good, hand-cut tartare. The wine selection was also convincing. Orange wine can be tasted glass wine... who wants this.

The boss and her deputy, who both work in service, are two cheerful and cheerful girls! Attentive, humorous and the professional competence is also top. The tartar's are one of the specialties and highly recommended! Always worth a visit!!

Best tartar, service and environment

The destination for all gourmets who appreciate tartar. The many creative variations, combined with the friendly, competent service, make the restaurant a "must" away from the tourist areas. Really a friendly restaurant with a lot of potential to go back!

While sightseeing in Bern, I happened to find this restaurant while looking for lunch. Unfortunately, it was past lunch time, so the only menu I had was tartare, and although I didn't have high expectations, it was probably the most delicious tartare of my life. Although the menu was only in French, the staff member carefully explained it to us in English. The tartare also came with bread on the side, so it was more filling than I expected. The wine list is extensive, and although the prices are a little high considering it's Switzerland, it's totally acceptable. If I have a chance to go next time, I would like to try other menu items.

A really fantastic experience. The majority of the menu are variations of tartare. We came for lunch and had a deliciously simple kurbissuppe with a variety of seeds and croutons, followed by the Truffe tartare. The tartare was hand cut, still had a bit of texture and was not at all slimy. The seasoning was fantastic and included mustard seed, fresh shaved truffle, Parmesan and quail yolk. The tartare was served with small potatoes, salted butter, bread, rosemary and thyme. I’ve never had a better tartare and, as is rare in Switzerland, it was worth the price.

Fantastic find off the beaten path!! In Bern for the day to work out passport renewals and wanted something nice and elevated, but not $$$$! So we wandered over to the arch of the Aare and found the Fischerstubli on the way. Tried to make an online reservation, but didn’t get a response. Our own fault for trying huts barely an hour before eating. No problem at all though! They welcomed us right in at the end of the lunch service, with a warm smile. Quick attentive service, delicious food suddenly on our table. We had the mini suppe, a wonderful winter pumpkin purée with ginger, pepitas, and tasty croutons. Then we shared a truffle beef tartare, one of MANY on the menu! It was better than fantastic. A surprisingly tasty treat, showcasing the beef, the freshly shaved black truffle, with just the right amount of herbs, seasoning and the perfect quail egg to top it. Oh and the “side dishes” were lovely too: good crunchy bread, oven roasted red potatoes and freshly churned butter and EVOO. Wonderful lunch! Will come back and rave about this place to anyone coming to Bern!

A mega jewel! Anyone who thinks there is fishy stuff here is wrong. The house specialty is tartare in all variations. Everything tasted fantastic from the starter to the dessert. Espresso! The friendliness of the employees is particularly noteworthy. Gladly again!

Nice restaurant in the Berner Matte neighbourghood. There is a lunch menu available. We had salad and or soup and then a beef tartare. The beef tartare is available in many different styles. The range of styles go from local products till asian flavours. I had the Tokyo style tartare it was very good and had the falvour expected. The Staff was very helpfull and friendly.

There are many different, very tasty tartars to choose from (classic, slightly unusual and also seasonal). Top quality, great service, warm hosts and just an all-round great culinary experience.

The restaurant is very pleasant. The decoration is sober and cozy. As for the staff, they are not only competent but also very friendly. The dishes are well presented and delicious. The products are fresh and delicate. I highly recommend it and we will happily return to try other dishes.

Food was ok. But price performance is not right!

Unfortunately, the name is bad... tradition or not, but with the name you just expect fish on the menu. That's really stupid. But otherwise everything was tip top. The place is really nice and the food is really good.

Nice restaurant and very polite staff. Menu with countless tartar variations and four food alternatives. Would be ok but the alternatives were bad for us and didn't seem fresh but rather prepared in advance and warmed up in the microwave oven. More suitable for Tatar lovers.

We ate in the Fischerstübli on the occasion of our company outing (around 40 people). Everything worked perfectly from the first contact to lunch. Super nice staff, helpful, flexible and professional. Very fine food.

Oasis of peace in the Mattenquartier, which is easily accessible by car, bicycle (PubliBike) or bus. Especially in summer, the outdoor area invites you to enjoy delicious food and drinks, while the feel-good factor inside is not neglected either. On the one hand, the restaurant scores with a small but fine menu (excellent tartar variations!) and, on the other hand, with extremely friendly and attentive staff. From the greeting from the kitchen to the wine recommendations to the farewell, everything is perfect in the Fischerstübli.

The food in the Fischerstübli is incredibly good, but a huge plus is the friendly staff who pay a lot of attention to details (coffee before, with or after dessert, recommendations, jokes, etc.) We always enjoy going again!!

Unique location. Despite the big city, you feel rural, in an idyll of plants, herbs and greenery. A fantastic terrace. The staff is extremely friendly, very attentive and accommodating. The food is brilliant, unique and simply an experience. What is achieved in this somewhat small kitchen is unique. Hats off! You're all doing it brilliantly. Keep it up. The menu was nothing less than a dream experience. From the greeting from the kitchen to the apple spritzer, the best tartare I've ever had, to an unforgettable chocolate tart with apricot ice cream. Impeccable, including the service that did perfect justice to the delicacies served.

It was a very relaxed atmosphere, I can recommend it to everyone. very nice staff, friendly. Of course very fine food!

We waited 1 hour to order the food. After about 40 minutes the salad came and after another 30 minutes the main course. So about 2 hours passed waiting. The food was OK.

Highly Recommended! From the service to the kitchen, simply top. The dishes are of the best quality and in a really good quantity, which leaves little to be desired. We'd love to come back!

The beef tartare are prepared with great attention to detail and taste fabulous. The blind tasting evenings are considered an “insider tip”. It's worth a visit. Reservation recommended.

This rather small but very fine restaurant is in... Located in the center of the colorful Mattequartier. A cozy and lively feel-good place. An attentive guest quickly notices that the Fischerstübli is a real passion project for Lea (from Bern) and Sébastien (a Burgundy) into which they put all their time and energy. If you value very good and creative cuisine with high-quality local products and really nice, personal and uncomplicated service, this is the right place for you. The concept is well thought out from A to Z. Even for me as a vegetarian, the cuisine is exciting and varied; Among other things, with two weekly changing lunch menus (from lasagna to tempura with lentils to a Bernese side dish). The vegetarian tartare is also highly recommended; You can't find this anywhere else in Bern. And everything was made fresh. You definitely shouldn't miss the chocolate cake at the end. Just a poem! Lea and Sébastien assured me that the tart will remain on the menu forever. :-) Since the beginning of the year I have tried the take-away offer regularly. Everything works perfectly. The food is always ready when I arrive. It stays warm longer in the packaging. I would like to try out their wine selection when I get the chance; Of course, they also tailored this to their kitchen. ;-)

La carte des vins recèle de merveilles et le choix des tartares unique. Label fait maison et amour des produits. Aucune fausse note quand à l’excellence des saveurs. L’harmonie des goûts du chef/patron, les conseils avisés de la patronne font que notre passage chez eux fut un moment mémorable. We have been regular take-away guests of the Fischerstübli (lunch) since the Corona pandemic. The dishes are freshly prepared, of high quality (regional & organic) and very varied. The innovative dishes are always inspiring for private cooking at home. The tartars are a hit. If you like it cheaper, you are well served with the two lunch menus (meat/vegi) or the two burgers (meat/vegi). When we asked, we were given a quick second helping when the portion was too small. But usually completely sufficient. In today's age of food waste, it makes sense not to overload the plates/take-away dishes, but rather to respond to the individual needs of the guest. Home delivery service in the evening is also new. Perfect for a romantic tête-à-tête at home / surprise for your partner. Tatar doesn't get cold either. ;)
