Fondue Villa & Garden in Unterseen

The fondue here was tasty, and we liked that there were options for all dietary restrictions, vegans included. However, it was simply way too expensive, especially considering the service. While it was labeled as “unlimited,” the waiter rarely came over to our table and only refilled the dipping foods when we waived her over and specifically asked. Moreover, the cheese and chocolate itself was not unlimited which was misleading. The price of the fondue was completely overpriced in comparison to other fondue restaurants in Interlaken, and this one was located in a budget hostel with subpar ambiance. Expect to eat in the same room that budget hostel guests eat breakfast in, except you’re paying over 50 CHF for it. Money would have been better spent (and even saved) if you bought fondue on top of Harder Kulm or in central interlaken — two of the biggest tourists places in town. While it was definitely a pleasant experience with good tasting food, it should have cost a fraction of the price we payed for it given the stinginess with refills and the quality in comparison to other spots in town.

Food and service were FANTASTIC!! Our server Luthia was SO friendly and she wanted us to have a wonderful experience!! And we definitely did!!!

The cheese fondue was absolutely perfect. From the moment you first walked in, you were greeted with sincerity and smiling face. Our order was prepared quickly and carefully. It was incredibly delicious. After the cheese fondue, we tried the chocolate fondue, but I didn't find it very sufficient, the plate was filled with a lot of biscuits, more fruits could have been placed instead, but the service was still fast and attentive.

Already the first impression on the arrival at the fondue house was really welcoming! The reception we had from the staff was so lovely, friendly and funny. The mood has love on the detail! The fondue was orgasmatic!!!! A real high complement to the staff and Susan the boss who literally runs the place!

No idea how this is worth what you pay for. The cheese fondue was bitter and we thought perhaps as the heat goes up, the bitterness will change. But not really. The waitress said it could be due to very strong Swiss cheese which if we are not used to.. but hey, if something tastes not good, how does it matter ? The chocolate fondue, really ? A small bowl of chocolate for 2 people to share with the side and you pay a heafty amount per person. Ambiance is just ok. Perhaps good for couples or people who want to spend time with themselves. Not worth the money.

It was our first time having fondue and the meal and experience did not disappoint! We had the vegan fondue and gluten free bread, paired with white wine, and it was delicious. Super cheesy and well seasoned. Just make sure to ask ahead of time if they have gluten free bread as we were told it usually needs to be ordered in advance. This is a great spot for people who want to try fondue in Switzerland but have dietary restrictions. I’d love to return if I have the opportunity to again.

This is a scam. It is a Hostel pretending to be a restraunt. With folding tables and a way out of town location for a cheap stay. Don't walk the 2 miles for a fake out! If I could 0 stars!!!

We had the best time here! I have a gluten and dairy allergy so was really bummed to be missing all the cheese in Switzerland. This place let me partake in the fun with their delicious vegan fondue with gluten free bread to dip! A real highlight of the trip and the friendliest service. Thanks so much!

Wish I could leave a better review - we came a little after 8pm and were told they close at 10 so they weren’t seating anyone else. Seemed strange to stop taking tables two hours before they closed, luckily we were able to find somewhere else to eat.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Fondue Villa & Garden restaurant on January 5, 2024. There are so many good adjectives that I don't even know where to start. We ordered the full fondue all-you-can-eat buffet, which had as much cheese and classic accompaniments as: pickles, boiled potatoes, bread, etc. It's really very complete, I can say it was one of the best we ate in Switzerland. We also ordered the chocolate fondue which was included in the all-you-can-eat meal. Along with it comes things like: fruits, marshmallows, chocolates and lots of cookies. I recommend ordering the full carvery, drinks are not included. To accompany the fondue, we ordered the house wine, which is very good. And to complete the experience, the place was very cozy and the service was first rate! I highly recommend it!

The fondue workshop was fantastic, from entering we found the warmest welcome. Wonderful introductions, lots of knowledge and amazing to prepare and mix our fondue, paired with great wines (unlimited), the games added lots of fun, laughter and a little healthy competition. A really great afternoon, would 100% recommend and I will definitely be visiting again. Great for small and large groups and not only a culinary treat but also a highly sociable experience. Honestly hands down unreal service and fondue was out of this world! I have been eating fondue for quite some time now but being the first time visiting interlaken we found this place on Google and it did not disappoint. Fully reccomend.

Wanted the Swiss fondue 🫕 experience in Interlaken on a Sunday. We were happy to stumble across this restaurant/hostel. Our waitress, Pamela, was awesome. Very personal and she educated us with the traditional way of eating fondue (and a little bit of food hack) to enhance the food experience. Don’t forget their cherry schnapps. We got their all-you-can eat fondue meal. Comes with drink of choice, cheese fondue, and chocolate fondue. For a group of 4, it was a great meal. Would like to come back and bring my family this time. Hope to have Pamela again.

It is comfortably furnished. As a guest you will be warmly welcomed and attentively looked after during your meal. We had cheese fondue all you can eat. Very tasty with great side dishes. Great value for money!

This place is amazing… I am just wrapping up an 8 day vacation exploring Interlaken, Lucerne and Zurich and I think this might have been my favorite meal from the entire trip. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, as if you are eating dinner at a friend’s house. The service was incredible - Pamla was our server and she may have also been the manager, as she was extremely knowledgeable about the history, menu and more. We loved her!! The fondue was the best we had in Switzerland and it was ‘all you can eat’. We had the ice cream for dessert and it might be the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. I’ll be thinking about this meal for the rest of my life.

Very “misleading” menu. We found that it is “all you can eat” concept once we reached there. So even though we just wanted limited food between me and my wife, we had to pay 75 chf. I say avoid this restaurant!

Morena was fantastic - an amazing experience. She was friendly, attentive, helpful, and a great to talk to. The food was fantastic. We had the garlic and spice fondue and the ice cream fondue and they were so delicious. Would definitely recommend and go back!

Great food and atmosphere. We enjoyed the atmosphere and food. It’s unlimited and cozy! We would recommend it! However, do not get a bottle of wine they have. House wine is fine but we got a bottle of rosé and it was great but they charged 30 francs for it and you can get it at the store for 3.50. I get marking things up but that’s a little crazy. I would definitely recommend this place for all types of fondue. From traditional, to fancy cheeses, to chocolate and ice-cream! The staff were very friendly and made me feel very welcome. The food was great, wine pairings were helpfully suggested and the whole thing was just great. The price was extremely reasonable too. About £30 for all you can eat fondue!!

If I could rate this more than 5 stars I would. Absolutely incredible experience- must do in Switzerland. It was our first time trying cheese fondue and I’m so glad that we tried it here. The cheese is served with a variety of lovely sides with a really cool dose of fondue history as well. If you have room, we ordered some chocolate fondue (11 out of 10!!) and the chef and staff came out singing happy bday to me🥰 Spectacular service from Suzanne. What a best experience to have a cheese fondue in switzerland. The owner is teally cool and explain to you how the cheese fondue been made. Make sure to book first and If you not drink alcohol make sure to reserve the cheese fondue without wine coz it is limited.

Given the rave reviews, we wanted to give it a try. It was August 2023. Unfortunately, we quickly became disillusioned. The cheese looked excellent. Coming from Marseille, we were wary of the olives that we knew were canned. When dessert arrived, we understood the scam. In fact, we had melted ice cream for dessert. However, three scoops of ice cream arrived in a dish. All around, biscuits bought at the supermarket and probably expired. I only have one word to describe the taste experience: filthy. Unworthy of a restaurant. It was then that several details jumped out at us: The accompaniments first. Pickles, potatoes, bread, pineapples, olives... Everything is in fact industrially produced. Even though there are many, quantity takes precedence over quality. Especially since back home, my partner and I tasted a real fondue (from the Grandvillard cheese factory) and it was much better. Then the menu: it is written in English, as if the main clientele were not local regulars. For a restaurant that wants to be traditional, it's a failure. We also had a hot chocolate, which was just as low-end as the rest. On the other hand, I confirm what other reviews have said: there are cockroaches in this restaurant. For the positives (because there are some though) The atmosphere is warm, the setting is very cute. Pineapple in the fondue is a good idea. Furthermore, I alerted the server, telling him that we were not satisfied with the experience, particularly because of the dessert. He immediately reimbursed me for the desserts without making a fuss, and for that I thank him. To tell the truth, he didn't seem particularly surprised by our remarks. The waiter is also warm and engages in conversation, even if we weren't very keen to hear it. In short: Everything about the appearance, nothing on the plate. It's a shame.

I had fondue and house wine and it felt good so I went and it was good. It may be too salty to eat, so it's a good idea to think about countermeasures. The atmosphere and food are very good.

The view from the terrace is truly sublime! The waitress who served us (seemed overwhelmed) but was super nice. She notably took the time to give us the necessary explanations to appreciate this meal as it should be. We're not cheese fans (but we definitely wanted to eat local) so it was quite a pleasant discovery. The fondue (for 2 people minimum) is served with 7 accompaniments (potatoes, bread, pickles, onions, peppers, pineapple and olives).

After some searching, we finally found a Fondue restaurant near Brienz/Interlaken that completely pleased us. Different flavors (tomato, spicy, garlic, mushroom, curry, etc.) different dip ingredients (olives, pineapple, potato, pepper, bread, pickles/silver onions) nice setting and friendly staff. The cheese for fondue from local farmers, what more could you need? Highly recommended for foodies looking for a Swiss coma...

It was pretty nice! They use local cheese to make it. I must admit, I liked moitié-moitié better when I had that somewhere else but this was pretty good too!

We absolutely loved it! So glad we found it online, as another reviewer said, we couldn't believe it had only 5* reviews but when you get there you know! What a special place and lovely concept. Lovely staff who explained a bit of the history of the fondue to us in English. There was a large group of rather obnoxious guests at the same time and the host did so well to handle them. Honestly, 11/10. The food was fab and was refilled for us, with delicious wine!

The atmosphere was top notch, the service was spectacular, the house wine was chef's kiss, and the traditional fondue was out of this world. We even came back the next day and got the chocolate fondue for dessert! I can't recommend this place enough 🧀🍞

This was my first visit to Switzerland, and one of the top things from my bucket list was to have some fondue while I was there. This place surpassed anything I was hoping for and made my FONDUE DREAMS COME TRUE. Beyond how delicious both the food and wine were, the staff was incredibly friendly and the view and atmosphere in the garden were phenomenal. We showed up when they first opened and they had a lot of reservations for the full moon evening, but they still made room for us and gave us the best and most memorable experience I could ask for. Do yourself a favor and go here - both your stomach and heart will be full afterwards!

Our visit to Fondue Villa and Garden was outstanding. As an introduction, the waiter shared fondue history, adding an educational touch to our dining experience. We ordered the traditional Swiss cheese fondue. The 7 sides (potatoes, bread, pickles, onions, peppers, pineapple, and olives) were a flavorful delight, and were all great to dip in the fondue. In addition, we sat outside, with a fantastic view of the Swiss mountains. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the Interlaken area.

This was my first time trying fondue and I'm glad I tried it here! The service is very friendly and helpful and the waiter and waitress were happy to have a chat and give us a brief history about fondue. We sat in the garden and it was very magical and romantic with excellent views of the mountains and some music. The fondue itself was also quite good. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! It was unlimited refills and we left feeling very full very 'cheesed out'!

It was my first time to try Swiss cheese pan and I thought it was great The clerk was very enthusiastic to introduce it to us🥹🥹 Ordered the Yuanyang Hot Pot (pesto cheese, buttered almonds *vegan*) The cheese pot comes with 7 ingredients (black and green olives, pickles, bread, potatoes, pineapples...) The ingredients can be replenished, making it perfect for friends to eat and drink together (Menu says it’s perfect for pairing with white wine) About 10 minutes walk from Interlacken west station There is a parking space next to the house First time trying Swiss cheese pan I feel very special and great👍👍👍 Came to dine on 10/1, it was a bit cold sitting outside at night, so you need to bring a jacket It’s great to sit outdoors, and there are some creative ideas for decorating the courtyard👍👍

We loved the place. The fondue was as good as it can be and the people running it were very nice. It was a cozy setting and just right for an authentic Swiss meal. My only request is for the owners to add more fruits into the meal. Overall, a great experience.

All you can eat cheese fondue - amazing place for a Swiss dinner! The food was delicious and I ate way more than I should have. Unfortunately it was raining when we were there so we had to eat inside and it was a bit cramped.

Very good Swiss cheese fondue restaurant. Very friendly setting in a very quiet environment. The typical fondue is served with many assortments: potatoes, peppers, olives, pickles and pineapple. The fondue is unlimited, so don't hesitate to ask for more. The fondue (for two people minimum) is 30 CHF and the glass of white wine is 4.5 CHF. On the other hand, the glass of white wine was not extraordinary in taste.

Honestly, it was delicious, the staff is super pleasant, available and really professional. The setting is also pleasant, in the garden.. We'll definitely come back if we're back in this area.

Great restaurant with a typical fondue menu with cheese from the region! Assortment of vegetables and bread. Huge glass of white wine (25cl, €4.50). Fondue 30 euros per person, as much as you like. Superb view of the mountains. Ultra fast service thanks to the unique dish. Very funny and friendly waiter!! It is better to book in advance, especially if there are many of you. I recommend !!

The staff here is incredibly kind. However, the food is so overpriced and frankly, it's bad. There's nothing but bread, potatoes, and canned fruits (not fresh, canned) as toppings. It is absolutely not a proper meal. Additionally, the only available seatings were outside in the sun in the middle of the heat wave. There is no AC or shaded area to sit inside. I've never left a bad review in my entire life but I have to leave one for this place. I honestly feel bad leaving a bad review just because of how nice our server was, but I feel that the truth about the bad food and the uncomfortable atmosphere of the restaurant need to be shared because I don't want anyone to have to pay so much money for canned fruits and bread.

A rude staff member spoiled our experience here! I don't want to generalize and thus I'm being specific. The tall skinny guy with the man bun and a patchy beard had automatically started making assumptions, judging us and discriminating based on our looks! Had a strong ego, a "don't care" attitude and expected us to understand it all by just looking at the menu. Thus, he was giving us a hard time and didn't have any patience whatsoever to answer a couple of our questions. We tried to clarify with him plenty of times and he nodded for all of that until the final bill arrived. No receipt, check or breakdown. The card machine with the total amount was just handed over to us and nothing else. It was clear that we were overcharged but we had given up by then, so just paid the bill and left. Will not be returning or recommending to anyone of color!

We were early so we were unsure whether we were in the right place because there is only a 'hostel' sign on the road and parking is available on the side of the Vila.

I don’t know why people are so impressed in reviews. The fondue is really good. But please note that there are no other dishes, salads or meat. So we had to eat just cheese and bread for dinner (so I mean fondue). Service is good, But nothing special and place is quite simple.

The team that works there are really great, with outstanding customer service. Very family friendly environment with activities for the kids. Absolutely recommend, I would certainly recommend to reserve in advance though as the spots and cheese is limited 😊

Poor hygiene inside the premises. We saw a cockroach on the wall and spiders. Very high price for the low quality of the food. I don't understand the good reviews from other visitors. Terrible experience. And on top of that they give you the option to tip, it seems like a joke... We won't be back.

I was so suspicious of a place that had 240, 5 star reviews (how is that possible???) but we went tonight and it totally makes sense. It’s the cutest little house just outside of town. Fantastic food and wine and I wish I could give the service 100 stars. They were so sweet and thoughtful and just all around nice! Chatted with us about our plans etc and gave us good recommendations. I think we’ll back again before we go ❤️

We had a wonderful all-you-can-eat cheese fondue here. A very young friendly team. You learn something about the history of fondue. When the weather is nice, the garden is creatively prepared and ensures a relaxed family celebration atmosphere. The music box is placed on the window sill and there is a great view of the garden. The service was also very quick. Unfortunately we made the “mistake” and had the cheese fondue refilled, which unfortunately meant we couldn’t try the very tasty looking chocolate fondue..

Absolutely lovely experience eating here. Great service, super nice people who looked after you very well, the fondue was also delicious, and then the restaurant itself was a little gem with the best view of the Swiss Alps and the glacier. best and only cheese fondu i've ever had. had to stay long enough to digest and get chocolate fondue too. sweat dripped down as we feasted -- couldn't tell if it was the beating sun or the simmering fondu. worth it either way.

Fantastic place with fantastic portions. We came first for the cheese fondue, and came back the next night for chocolate fondue. Although they mistakenly gave us dark chocolate instead of the milk that we ordered, they happily gave us a big refund to correct the mistake. The food is fantastic and so is the actual venue itself. Definitely will come back in the future.
