Fugu in Bern

A really nice authentic taste of Thai foods. The crispy duck is amazingly soft tasty and superbly delicious, an authentic asian taste. You can smell and taste the duck meat, such a nice bite and mouthwatering every time you bite it! The rice, wow amazingly a nice fragrance, Jasmine Rice😍. Add more chili sauce and soja sauce, everything turns into awesomely delicious.

Very fine food in a pleasant atmosphere and warm service. Allergies are taken into account and we were able to chat easily throughout the evening - even though the restaurant was very busy.

We waited 40 minutes for the starter and it didn't come until we asked. The main course was bland and inedible. I would definitely not recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, on my last visit to Fugu I had a very unsatisfactory experience. First of all, my Pad Thai was served in an impractically small plate, which was awkward and resulted in the food falling over the edge. The rice noodles were sticky and the taste left a lot to be desired - it was unpleasantly reminiscent of wet dog. When I spoke to her politely, my plate was accepted without a taste. Shortly afterwards the owner confronted me in a way that I found to be very arrogant and cheeky and defended the dish and even charged me an extra charge for the chicken version, which I found very inappropriate. My friends and I found the owner's behavior inappropriate. Having already given the restaurant a second chance, I unfortunately have to say that I will no longer go there based on this experience and would not recommend it to others. In addition, the quality seems to have deteriorated compared to before. Suggestions for improvement: 1. Larger plates to present the food appropriately 2. Check and improve the quality of the Pad Thai 3. A staff training program could be helpful so that customer feedback is treated professionally and courteously 4. Pricing without unexpected surcharges I hope that my feedback helps to improve the quality of service for future guests.

Authentic, elevated Thai food - recommend the Papaya Salad, Crispy Duck Salad, and Green Curry! We asked to make the food extra extra Thai spicy and they delivered 🔥 Also, this is a return visit after 5 years and their food has gotten so much better!

Small restaurant, I had a quite tasty Pad Thai - good Tamarind Sauce - and my wife had quite a hot/spicy (scharf) Green Thai Curry. No complaints about the food!

I come here every once in a while, because I know the food won't disappoint. The dishes are tasty and service is friendly. It is admittedly a bit pricey due to the location, but takeaway is 20% off.

The food in the Fugu-Nydegg restaurant is very good. I really liked the Asian salad with the crispy duck. The location in the old town and near the Nydegg Bridge in Bern is ideal. I can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Quite disappointing value for money. The avocado salad - 14chf for leaves, 3 tomato halves and 4 avocado strips chasing each other. The Thai salad is drowned in its sauce (and too salty). The main dishes (massaman curry and tuna tataki) are not bad, but completely bland. The service is quite nice.

Pad Thai was really really tasty. Not sure how prices compare to other places in the area. Expensive for international standards. Service was quite slow, but good. Would recommend.

Food was incredible, everyone liked it, came with extra sauce and I thought that was nice. Lot of room to walk in and out of. Umbrellas to shade us was good too. Though there was a lot of flies and birds, so that was something. But in conclusion this place is great! I recommend this to anyone that enjoys all different types of Asian food. I would definitely eat here again if I could.

Fresh Asian cuisine with courteous service. The food is very tasty and the meat in particular is of very good quality.

Super expensive for mediocre quality food. We were a party of 5, the waitress forgot completely one of our orders, and got another one wrong. (you had one job...) Half our party finished before the other's food arrived. Apart from saying sorry, you think they offered us a drink on the house or a discount? Nie wieder.

The waiting times are extremely long, and in the end I got the beef instead of the chicken. Pure chaos. The food was overly salted.

Have a good day We ordered fried rice and green curry chicken. We asked the boss not to make it too salty. JJ fried rice with sweet and spicy sauce was delicious. One star less is because I ate too much and felt it was a bit salty. Taiwan is still tastier😊 When I finally checked out, I realized that the bamboo charcoal in this bottle of water was charged separately, 6CHF.

Delicious food and whide variety

There were seven of us on the terrace (or street :-)) under a cloudy sky. The atmosphere was pleasant, even though buses and cars drove right next to it. The menu is a bit special but clearly laid out in German and English. The starter and the main course as well as the dessert arrived promptly and were delivered to everyone at the same time, even if almost everyone had chosen a different main course. I generally found the service to be attentive; when the food was delivered, the menus were still on the table (for us). All in all a lovely evening with delicious food. Gladly again.

Portion was big but it was so delicious I could finish everything! Have tofu for vegetarians.

A really good place for Asian- Japanese and Thai- cuisine. The service and the atmosphere are nice, but at this place the food is actually the star of the show for once. Try the tasting platter and I found the morning glory with beef excellent.

Poor and inattentive service (especially on the upper floor). “Teriyaki” sauce in the wild salmon dish is practically just honey, and this for 39chf…

Amazing tom yam soup, super amazing gyosa (very tasty inside, super fresh dough and to my taste amazingly perfect thickness and texture - one, of the best in bern) and they have a very interesting water filter made of carbon called Bimchotan, which I had the pleasure to be able to discover it.

Nice asian (mainly Japanese & Chinese) in the center of Bern 🇨🇭 Friendly staff, at your disposal, the restaurant itself is very well presented, the tables are big and it’s spacious, for every dish you order you have sauces at your free disposal. The meal itself was very good & tasteful. I recommend you this place to stop by!

I think it looked more elegant/prettier in the pictures than it really is. I think the food is relatively expensive. But all in all I'm still completely satisfied :)

Ordered Fried Rice and Pad Thai in a vegetarian version with VEGETABLES and tofu. Vegetables were practically non-existent in both dishes. 3 beans, 4 pineapple pieces and a baby corn. For the price of 29 CHF per dish, there are better alternatives.

I wonder what the point of making a reservation a week in advance is if you then have to wait for minutes on arrival without being greeted by the staff. Also to see that the only free table was given to people who arrived after us.

I reserved for 5 for 8pm. We arrived on time and there was no room. We waited 15 minutes. the Master was grumpy and did not find a solution for us.

Try the ginger beef, my favorite restaurant in Bern, without a doubt.

We came with my mother and her boyfriend around 6:00 p.m. It’s a pretty place very close to the bridge in Bern under the arcades. The interior is simple and makes sense for the toilet, perhaps it is better to eat upstairs. I've been to a lot of Thai or Japanese restaurants in my life and this one was one of the worst. The taste was bland, I ordered pad thai and ended up with rice noodles dipped in the not very good sweet and sour sauce. The vegetables on the side were not cooked and I had some crushed peanuts on the side as well. In the absence of a nice peanut and soy sauce... On top of the dish, there was a kind of sweet crepe. Don't ask me why. Also, I ordered wine but it was not to my taste at all... Very vinegary. Open for a long time? My mother ordered Miso soup but it really wasn't good. Miso soups don't have that bland taste... His friend had chicken and rice but it was very dry. The strangest part of all this... is 10 minutes after ordering, they came with all three dishes. Brief. I unfortunately do not recommend this place.

You can't fault the food or the atmosphere. However, the service was a bit unmotivated. The bill arrived at 9:15 p.m., even though we actually wanted to order something else.

The food tasted like ready meals. But it is too expensive for that. Staff is a bit confused. Sometimes the wrong thing comes to the table. Okay, that can happen. Overall impression but no recommendation.

Incredibly delicious & sophisticated food! If there is no space downstairs, it is tricky for people with walking difficulties to get to the second floor, there are very narrow, twisting stairs.

Price-quality wise very poor (incredibly overpriced for the quality). Gyoza tasted really old and like frozen, barely edible. Bangkok Pad Thai was ok, although too sweet and very small portion (covered by tasteless"omelette"). Mediocre is the best adjective to describe the food and it's taste at Fugu. However, service from waiters is quick and friendly. Two stars is quite generous rating (due to food). (For comparison, try for ex Lily's in Zurich: amazing quality and very reasonable prices.)

Mediocre quality, small dishes and pricey - we left hungry. However, service was friendly. We had the "big" portion of vegetarian Gyozas and the chicken Bangkok Pad Thai. Gyozas were boring (the one from Coop are more tasty) and the Pad Thai was very sweet and looked like half a portion. As a comparison: Lily's in Zurich is clearly better in taste, cheaper and you won't leave hungry.

Enjoyable spot for an Asian themed meal.

Best Thai curry in Bern! Been here twice now and can only recommend it. The last time I was there was on Monday where they offer Yellow Monday, where you can order Thai curries a discretion. I've tried them all and every single one is extremely tasty. Really almost like in Thailand. The previous time I had something from the Japanese section of the menu, which was also very tasty. I can only recommend this restaurant. The only thing I don't like is that it's relatively expensive. I would say that an average main course is between 30 and 35.00.

Despite a rather high (but justified) price, Fugu is a very good Asian restaurant in Bern! The fried rice was succulent, the dish was very well presented and tasty! To try if you take a trip around town 😉

Very nice terrace next to the bärengraben. Nice menu with reserved choice but good. Japanese and Thai. The plates are well presented and the prices are correct considering the place Update 2022: Well presented and plentiful but the menu has become expensive for what it is. The waiter got the wrong dish and I had to pay for the dish ordered that was not received, which was more expensive.

We came this place and ordered the fugu platter, wasabi beef, tuna tataki — everything was more than wonderful!!! And we were sooooooooooo satisfied about the dessert - must order: Chocolate Chili Ice cream, and Fondant chocolat with Matcha ice cream — very authentic and original 🥰 The sencha and fugu blended tea are both super tasty to drink We highly recommend and will come back again ! Ps: weekend waiting time is incredibly long - we were angry at first 😜

Good Asian food with one but: the prices. Something common throughout Switzerland.

+++ One of the few authentic Pad Thais in Bern, green curry was "Gäbig" spicy, had no Swiss vegetables in it, we'll be back.

Truly lovely food, authentic tea and wine. Tasted brilliant though the atmosphere was a little intense at times.

This restaurant is amazing, the waiters are very friendly and the dishes are always excellent (especially their Thai dishes). Every time I go to Bern I will definitely come back.

The place is super nice, the presentation of the dishes is neat unlike several other Asian restaurants. The gyoza dish deserves a 5/5. The noodle dish is very good but I would give it a 4/5 after all depends on everyone's appreciation because I don't have much of a sweet tooth in salty dishes but that's the principle of the dish. The toilets are well maintained and clean. The only downside, in my opinion for a Japanese restaurant, was that the language spoken was not Japanese.

Absolutely awesome. Those who cook here understand their craft completely. I ate the best blood orange sorbet in my entire life here. For the first time 4 or 5 years ago and again today. The quality has remained the same. The meat and tofu were also perfectly seared. The gyoza is a dream from the outside as well as the inside. I can only recommend the Fugu restaurant!

Friendly service, hot food all day on Saturday, empty late in the afternoon. Food was okay, unfortunately edamame was very oily and not very tasty. Tuna Tataki were not ours, the tuna is not seared and not marinated in ponzu sauce. Had more of sashimi. Because of the sauce, you didn't get much of the tuna itself. We paid CHF 115 for 2 people. I'm not sure about price-performance. You can do it, you don't have to.

Serve a fusion of thai and japanese food which is very interesting. Loved the edamame with sesame oil. Absolutely delicious padthai served with an omelette on top! The food was hot when it arrived. I tasted their house iced tea which was lovely. They didn't have any Mango sticky rice so was quite disappointed. Quite pricy.

It’s the second time we come to this restaurant, the service is absolutely horrible. We had to wait over half an hour to get our drinks. In fact we did get our food, and finished everything, before we got anything to drink. We asked 3 different waiters. The place is an absolute mess. When I talked about the bill to chef de service he couldn’t do anything to please us. Offer us a cake that came on the moment we already stood up to leave the restaurant. Very sad, not recommended
