Gannet in Basel

The meal was a culinary delight, the chef de cuisine knows his craft, Italian food at a high level.

No ifs and buts. Friendly service, short waiting times, great food. Reservations are a must.

The food is delicious and the location is cool but unfortunately it is far too cold in the lower part of the Gannet. Having to wear the jacket all evening is ultimately too uncomfortable.

Great atmosphere on the old lighthouse ship!

It's great how they prepared this lighthouse ship. Eat well, then go to a concert down the deck and all for a very reasonable price

We were thrilled! Although the waitress had a bit of trouble taking our order and it took quite a long time, we really enjoyed our stay. The location is great, the atmosphere is great, the food (when it comes) is creative and well prepared and the location is simply incomparable. Very big recommendation - we will come back. You should expect to pay around CHF 50 per person (starter, dessert and drinks included).

Actually quite nice there. But the view and ambience are very nice. Been there many times. Service is usually overwhelmed, forgets wine or orders, but still very friendly. The menu is small, unchanged for a long time and not very creative. The stools without backrests are annoying. The wines are very average, often not available, but very expensive if you know how much a bottle of Primitivo costs; )

A very unusual location, you have to be able to accept a few compromises in terms of comfort (and pay a little more for it). The food was good, but unfortunately the meat came to the table only lukewarm (this was noted, nothing more). We were served very personably and promptly at first, but then a little carelessly.

The location and the associated ambience are brilliant! In summer you can eat on the deck of the real ship (which is now on the bank), look directly at the Rhine and enjoy the sunset. Be sure to go to the toilet as it has been left almost in its original condition. Towards the later evening a musician was there and played live music and contributed to a pleasant atmosphere. Service was also super friendly and quick. The menu offers a lot (Italian cuisine) and the food was ok. But a visit is worth it just because of the location and the idea!

We decided to go there for dinner in the late afternoon. I was unable to make reservations using the website. ( no same day reservations we allowed) we were unsure of getting a table but glad we went anyway. We were so glad we did, there were plenty of tables available and menu is simple and everything is made fresh. (don't trust the reservation app.) Lasagna was the daily special with a large salad and cheesecake for 45 chf. A fair price for delicious freshly made menu. The area is trendy and something unusual for Basel. I definitely recommend visiting this place. It is a dining experience like no other.

Beautiful restaurant located on an old red ship close to the Rhine river. You can enjoy delicious drinks and very good food in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a little bit outside of the city, but easily accessible by public transportation, by bike or by foot. At this place you can enjoy a beautiful sunset as well.

We wanted to go for a drink and were turned away at the entrance. Just drink, no sorry was the statement. Unheard of with countless free tables.

Great food, great service, great location.

Great location, only if you order 1 portion of pasta for the children and tell the service MA to please divide this portion on two plates, he will bring two portions which are also charged at two full prices. It's a shame because we couldn't eat this double portion because it was too much and we had to take it with us as a doggy bag and also had to pay. Unfortunately, listening and understanding are two different things.

A special place with a great view. The two of us had a fake wine and the menu (3 courses) with lasagna. It took a while for the food to arrive, but when I asked (since other tables that arrived after us had already received their starters), I was told to be patient. Before the starter, the main course came. When we asked again if we had had another starter, she came. A mix-up was politely explained. That was extremely friendly and understandable. The lasagne was very tasty, the salad dressing was a dream and the cheesecake was good too. The kitchen is great, but the service could be a little more attentive.

We ate at Gannet while visiting friends who live nearby and had the most gorgeous night. We ate at sunset so the scenery was spectacular, our waitress was lovely, and the food really exceeded expectations (for such a fair price)! Can’t recommend enough!

Perfect location, nice service, great food

Very bad service, most of the menu wasn't available and they only informed us after we ordered, no flexibility of the stuff to offer an alternative menu for a group reservation that was made in advance (they said they didn't buy enough groceries...). They also brought the starter and the main at the same time and left it at the table so we either had to eat the main course first or eat it cold, both wasn't pleasant.

Very original location, small selection of food, but high quality. The sanitary facilities could be cleaner. Friendly staff.

An unusual, great place where you can eat delicious homemade pasta

The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is fun. Slight hint of diesel smell upon entering but it doesn’t last. Enjoy!

Excellent but remember to book in advance! The setting is incredibly beautiful. The restaurant is located on an old liner in a completely redeveloped industrial zone located on the banks of the Rhine. There is a lot of entertainment and a large crowd of people throughout this area (and even a nightclub under the boat!) The menu is simple with Italian cuisine and is of high quality. As the evening progresses, the terrace never becomes empty and is always full. The staff were also very friendly and very efficient. Despite the crowd, the service was fast. We loved this experience, as well as the succulent dishes tasted. We will come back!

Very interesting venue situated along the river and built on a very beat boat .

Fantastic setup with view over the Rhein and the sunset. Great job to put this restaurant together. Salad was OK (they forgot the olives in mine). The pastas looked amazingly good.

A special place, a ship not floating on the Rhine, but on land very close to the bank. Great views and delicious food. And if the rain shower comes, you can also sit comfortably below deck. Only the chairs on deck are a bit of an imposition and are very uncomfortable. I'll still come back.

Brilliant idea to transform a ship into a restaurant. We had a table on the deck and this offers a nice view over the river. I liked the uncomplicated menu with just a few dishes, but all what we’ve tried was great and well presented. Prices are slightly above the average in my opinion. Staff is very friendly with good service. Should book in advance as it’s always busy. Minor thing: the sitting stools on the deck are not the comfiest.

Nice place at the Rhein. Fun boat, tasty pasta. Menu could be more diverse or should have daily changing items. Otherwise pretty cool do dine and drink on an old boat.
