At Geissmatt you can enjoy a brilliant 4-course menu consisting of tuna tartare, spaghetti, steak and dessert. The atmosphere is very homely, the service is friendly and attentive. The menu costs CHF 69 per person, reservation is recommended. Really nice.

The risotto served was ultra al dente, which is why some of our plates were returned full of risotto, while others praised and celebrated it highly. As a precaution, you could perhaps ask how you want it, also with meat (many women do NOT like it that pink/bloody). Three stars apply here specifically because +1 for the service, the wine was really great in the choice presented by the boss, and the atmosphere is also great, the staff usually tried hard. This was our first trip to Lucerne and we wanted to try the best food the city had to offer. Let me preface this with that we also tried the city’s only Michelin star restaurant in the city and Geissmatt was by far the best dinner we had. This quaint and beautiful restaurant is run by Bruno and his very sweet family. From the moment that we called to make the reservation, Bruno made it a priority to get to know my partner and I in order to make the already wonderful experience more personal. When we arrived, they welcomed us with open arms, immediately tended to our every need and informed us of every detail of the evenings agenda/course. We shared good conversation and laughs with Bruno. We had a romantic lakeside view and watched as the sunset. Now for the food - WOW! Every dish presented with such gorgeous detail and tasted absolutely delicious. Bruno spoiled us with his favorite wine pairings that went perfectly with each course and a nice surprise towards the end of dinner. The amount of time given for each course was also perfectly thought out. I think my favorite part of the whole evening was how intimate the setting was. Bruno serves a small group of people in this stunning patio on these beautiful summer night. Him and his family make you feel like right at home but at the same time have you join them on this wonderful culinary adventure. I want everyone to know about his place but I also just want to keep this hidden gem to myself. By the end of the night we left more than satisfied and absolutely delighted to have met Bruno, his family and wonderful restaurant. I can promise you, I will come back to enjoy another fantastic evening at Geissmatt!

One of the best restaurants in Lucerne for me. This restaurant offers only one menu, ours began with a greeting from the kitchen (bruschetta with homemade guacamole), followed by an appetizer based on marinated salmon (very juicy and soft, it melted in your mouth!), a of pappardelle with ragù, beef fillet with risotto (this too, the meat is very tender and tasty) and finally a dessert. Each dish was definitely a journey of flavors and aromas. Very friendly staff, a big thank you to Bruno for helping us with the choice of wine. For the aperitif they made us sit outside on the terrace overlooking the Reuss. Very traditional location inside, with attention to many details.

I can only agree with the previous speakers. Everything is really right here. It is a family run restaurant. The father is a funny guy. There is no menu, we were told at the beginning what was available and so we waited for our food. The wine was also great. There is a parking garage opposite the restaurant, across the Geissmatt bridge. I can only recommend this restaurant. Unfortunately there is no terrace. The menu cost 79 euros per head.

There were eight of us in Geissmatt. The food was good, nothing wrong with it. However, the unprofessional service was very annoying. Without asking, water carafes were repeatedly placed on the table, which were then charged at 10CHF per liter when we paid. Since there is no menu with prices anywhere in the restaurant, we were very surprised. We raised this as a criticism, to which we received the very harsh response "well, then we won't charge anything." The receipt was changed by hand and from then on the level of communication dropped rapidly. The waitress's daughter mainly communicated by rolling her eyes and appearing annoyed, with monosyllabic sentences. From then on we were called by the innkeeper. We all felt very uncomfortable and were happy when we were able to escape the restaurant and this unpleasant situation. Apparently we are not the first customers with this criticism (as I read in previous reviews). So either the restaurant has no interest in preventing this "misunderstanding" in the future, or criticism is not taken seriously. In the future, I recommend Geissmatt to inform customers in advance that 10CHF will be charged per liter of mineral water, or to print a drinks menu with prices. Otherwise, the customer will have the feeling that they have been “ripped off”.
