Hiltl am Strand in Zürich

Highly overpriced and lacks stock in September even though perfect Badi weather. Place needs more alternatives/competition

Sunday 9/3/23 Were again at the Hiltl on the beach, the restaurant was great, all the staff were attentive and helpful, and the view of Lake Zurich was also great, the water in the lake was still warm... **************************************************** ************ Zürifäscht dert gsi, awesome gsi, very great team on site, great food and great service. Bi o always different, Hiltl beautifies the city of Zurich in the summer. Oh, I always provide it and always help, very clean!

The Hiltl deserves the award for the worst and most expensive fries I have ever eaten. I didn't think it would be so difficult to prepare something so simple... Even I get the fries better at home without a deep fryer and make them myself

Way too expensive. CHF 37 for a moderate cold plate. Considerable premium to the normal Hiltl with less selection. Better go to Migros

I'm actually a Hiltl fan, but the longer I go, the more disappointed I am with the Hiltl on the beach. For such a small cup of fries you now pay 6.50!!! In almost every swimming pool in Zurich you can get at least double the portion, if not three times as much. And we're not talking about extra freshly cooked vegetarian dishes here, these are just normal potato sticks. Unfortunately, these prices are no longer easy for families to afford. Very, very sad for a public city swimming pool. Addendum: Dear Jenny, yes, the bowl for children has been available for 5 for 9 years. However, it is not mentioned that the bowl was around three times as large before and has undergone at least two reductions in size in these years. This statement actually disqualifies you even more...

We organised a large event with 150 people with Hiltl at the Strandbad. We were worried because of the size of the group and all of the administrative issues. In the end the staff was very flexible and the event was very easy to organise. Food is classic Hiltl quality and the price is average/slightly above average for Zurich. This is a great at the lake venue for guests from abroad.

Basically, I always find the Hiltel good and the price is certainly expensive but affordable. The prices here in the Badi are absolutely exaggerated and seem to vary from cash register to cash register. We were at one checkout, we were charged 39 chf for a few small snacks, now we didn't have our wallet with us. Quickly get to the seat and then the cash register next to it was free, there 31 chf. When we asked the cashier about it, she said it just depends on where exactly you position the plate. !? Really now. And she didn't know exactly how much the gram cost either 🤷🏻‍ hmmm OK... 1. Simply incredibly expensive, a real portion costs around 60chf. 2. No transparency and consistency, bit of a surprise...

Buffet practically empty, lots of customers waiting for something to be refilled. What you could “get” was lukewarm and not really tasty. The whole thing cost a whopping 35 francs without drinks.

I generally appreciate that action is taken against food waste wherever possible. This season, however, we had to reckon with dried-out food on evenings that were hardly attended, and on evenings when there was a lot going on, everything was sold out... it's a shame... It's no fun... Input: how would it be to set up the food truck on days when there are hardly any visitors and then only produce when orders are placed and forego the dismal buffet?

I really enjoy going to the pool. I am always particularly happy about the large selection at the Hiltl buffet. The staff is always attentive and helpful. Every visit is an experience.

Much more limited menu than other Hiltl branches that plays it safe - but still tasty.

Quite good for a Badi restaurant. It has everything you need. And even if it's vegi, you still get snacks for everyone.

The Hiltl enhances the Mythenquai. Nevertheless, I expect a better relationship with vegan-vegetarian food. Feta is also included in 3 salads with couscous. If you can scoop feta separately, vegans can also eat couscous salad. Desserts are very bad with a 3:20 ratio. The pastries in particular (brownies, nut croissants) are made with eggs. For what reason? It's not necessary!

Very nice and very good but far too expensive for a swimming pool with children... A swimming pool should be an experience. If prices like that allow competition so that an alternative is offered. For an ice cream and a plate of food without a drink approx. 38.-

Biggest joke I've ever seen. 51.30-. Serves 2 fries with nuggets. Soggy fries and bad tasting chicken nuggets. Fucher x100. It's not worth it.

It's a shame to close at 7.30pm on a beautiful summer evening. I find the fact that from 6 p.m. onwards the buffet is only replenished on a sparse basis & the selection corresponds to a maximum of half of what was on offer during the day very weak at these prices. Charging just under 10 for the plate of salad in the picture is more than steep! Apart from the children's bowls, it's actually hardly affordable. Forking out almost 60 chf for 2 (small) children and 2 adults in self-service (despite 2 children's bowls!) is VERY proud.

UPDATE: I just wanted to say that the way that the Hiltl team handled this follow up was very professional and genuine. Also, we visited this location again last summer and had much better service (but I just went with one kid and took him with me). However, it's just super crowded around lunchtime and hard to navigate the masses inside. This will probably change though after this whole corona mess. It's not my favorite Hiltl location, but will do the job for a nice day at Mythenquai and the food is yummy there as always. ------------- Absolutely horrid and unreasonable staff that are not family-friendly with people with multiple small children in tow. I went to Mythenquai with a friend and her kids plus my own child; all children under 4 years old. Since the place was crazy busy during lunch time, we thought it best that she kept the young children busy at the beach, while I go get lunch for all of us. Since we had three kids with us, I got three of those 5 chf kid's bowls so everyone could have their own bowl. When I got to the register, the cashier would not let me buy them because I didn't have the three kids with me. I explained to her that all of my kids are young and given how busy it was, they are outside playing. She explained I had to either produce my kids or pay the adult price by weight....so I actually had to go get a kid from my pack to 'show' them that I had kids with me. Luckily, my friend had the great idea of taking a picture of me with the three kids at the beach on my phone to show the cashier. When I arrived back, with one kid in person and a picture of all of us together. This seemed to appease her and she was apologetic about the whole thing, but her manager was one nasty lady and had 'words' with her with me standing there with my kid while shooting me dirty looks. I tried to explain to her manager the situation and show her the picture (in German to make sure she understood), but she completely ignored me and just just continued scowling at me until I left. I have heard really great things about Hiltl and was looking forward to trying them, but I couldn't enjoy my food after such a terrible experience and am quite put off from trying them in other contexts in the future.

This season I have had food poisoning 3 times after visits here at the Hiltl (both my companion and myself). Someone in the kitchen doesn't seem to be very particular about hygiene.

I'm in love with this place. I'm vegetarian and it's wonderful to see a buffet with this type of food. Everything is very good, very tasty. They have salad, pasta, ratatouille, cheese nuggets, french fries... And a lot of delicious desserts too! Also it's next to the Zurich's lake, so you can swim and later have a snack!!

I love this place, it's so convenient. They have special prices for children, make sure to use the "small cups". Normal food prices are rather high but I don't mind since the food tastes really good. Be aware: compared to the big restaurants in the city the choices are obviously a bit limited.

Yummy. I am normally not a big fan of strictly vegetarian places. But I love Hiltl. Often food at vegetarian restaurants tastes healthy and is somewhat boring. But here the stuff is delicious. I am a meat lover but here I don't mind. They have amazing desserts too.

We wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts because we were in the pool a lot this summer!!!!!We always really enjoyed the food and the service was simply amazing!!!The service staff were always friendly and always had a smile in the face😁The price is acceptable and with our family of 7 you can count next year!!!! A proud 40 per kilo from the (vegi) salad buffet!!! For what exactly ?? Empty salad bowls, bland and undefinable salads! an imposition! Pure rip off. Better bring your salads from Migros/Coop and co. yourself with , you get more out of it. In the Badi Tiefenbrunen 29.50 kg for the much better and larger and more beautiful selection.

Well the prices... if every cook and service employee has 5,000 fr in their account at the end of the month... then they are justified, otherwise it's less. I can only agree with the lower reviews... In our case it wasn't the employees, but the person with the black polo who proudly shouts through the staff that she is the boss and the one in charge!!! but isn't even able to collect an order properly. The arrogant and cheeky behavior was hard to beat when we pointed out her mistake. never experienced anything like this! I'm wondering what kind of personnel policy you have here and what the criteria are for recruiting. In the end, one way or another the store always runs, that's clear...absolutely no competition, nothing different! If there was another restaurant nearby, it would be good This will go bankrupt after 6 months!

Arrogant and cheeky checkout employee, always ask for a receipt!!! You will be shot in your face!! And then left it until the error was corrected. This is a good way to make sales! Proud prices of the food!!! (yes, yes you apparently have fair prices lol) you could finally invest in a new salad buffet so that you don't have to scoop the salad half on the floor and on your knees!!!

I actually really like the restaurant in Mythenquai, at least the salad buffet is great and my child, 2.5 years old, isn't too fussy about the slightly floppy fries. Even though the prices are rather steep, I found it to be okay, the employees are super friendly and very helpful. Yesterday, however, I wanted to buy sunscreen for children and found out that a tiny bottle costs CHF 22.00! I was almost shocked! The neediness of desperate parents is shamelessly exploited (albeit always acting so Christian). I'll think about avoiding Hiltel altogether in the future.

I am a Hitl fan and regularly visit Hitl Dachterrasse and Haus Hitl. I've always been very satisfied so far and I think it's great that you can also get healthy and vegetarian food at a swimming pool. Thanks for that! Unfortunately, this Hitl is not comparable to the other Hitl at other locations. Today, on a beautiful day with a lot of people in the pool, the restaurant was closed until 2:15 p.m. and only the kiosk was open. There was a huge queue in front of the kiosk and the staff couldn't say if and when the restaurant would open. Very poorly organized. The poor two women at the kiosk were under stress and tried to do their best. For 15.50 I got basmati rice with red curry, too expensive for the small portion and the taste was ok but nothing more. I was with my baby and had to wait about 15 minutes for my turn. There was no information regarding the opening times of the restaurant - very disappointing.

Everything is much too dry and would not be possible to eat without the vegan, tasteless cardboard called mayonaise (which has to be taken into account!!). I don't understand why people put a Hiltl in a swimming pool!

Unfortunately, the food is sometimes a bit dry, but the 5 CHF cups for kids are unbeatably cheap.

Ideal combination of healthy food and sport (swimming). Gladly again!
