Hoher Hirschberg in Rüte

We ate very well and were warmly served. Starting with a delicious wild garlic cream soup, an excellent schnitzel and ending with a fine plum strudel with cinnamon ice cream. We can warmly recommend the Gasthaus Hoher Hirschberg. Thank you very much and see you soon.

Learned a lot today visiting day

The restaurant and the terrace were fully occupied, but the service was still quick, the ladies never lost track, we'll be back!

Very helpful innkeeper, was accommodating to changing the number of groups. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and various vegetables were added later. Great service, most beautiful view of Appenzell!

Would be a great place. Far too many visitors and far too few staff. There is far too much traffic on the way up the mountain, which is mainly used by children for sledding. Every 300 meters you have to stand to the side to let a car pass on the narrow street.

Got there by chance, it's probably an insider tip, beautiful place with a wonderful view, highly recommended

Perfect for a trip for young and old. View is amazing. For those who are good on foot, wonderful hiking routes. However, there is also a parking lot a few minutes from the restaurant... Regional specialties are top.

Lovely restaurant with a lot of character. The location is the best parts of a mountain hut with modern facilities. Very bright and warm with all the beautiful wood. Definitely worth the trek with the car up the mountain! Every part of the dinner was great. Don't miss taking an appetizer and dessert!

A very nice restaurant. Easily accessible on foot or by car. The food is excellent, much of it is homemade and locally sourced. The service was very friendly and we enjoyed a cozy evening.

Good and enough food, wonderful view

With almost thirty people (seats and menu reserved, drinks and dessert individually) we were served charmingly and excellently. The terrace and restaurant were fully occupied the entire time, but we were still able to enjoy our hiking lunch break in peace and without any rush. Thank you Hirschberg team!

Beautiful restaurant in a prime location

Were there last time yesterday, won't be coming back... The boss personally said that you don't have to come on a Sunday when there are so many people... Sorry, we're probably no longer happy about the guests, it's a shame... We were there regularly... But, not like that...

I love it here and would love to come back

Always a nice destination. Very nice view of the Alpstein. Good, friendly and fast service. Prices are quite ok. Have been coming here at least once a year for over 40 years. Always very crowded on sunny and warm days. Children's playground with trampoline, slide and swing available.

Beautiful view restaurant with very fine regional specialties... you can drive far up... up to about 200m in front of the mountain restaurant... but if you walk up it is much more awesome... the food... the view... the ambience 😃

Fast and attentive service. Pantli with cheese, cucumbers and onions ok. Was served on wooden boards, seemed "worn"... Unfortunately, a bread that was served was "soggy" (wet) and gave the impression of being "nibbled". But was replaced upon request. Urs Müller, CH-9000 St.Gallen

Nice garden restaurant Service could be better. There's a long wait until you're served, so it's better to refill cutlery and napkins and clear away plates. Food is mediocre. Price/performance is not right. Too expensive for what you get

Food is decent, simple,and good service. Beautiful view of the Santis range and part of the Rhinel valley and the Austrain mountains. We come here quite often as the hike is pretty easy, and there are about 16 long tables with benches outside and more seats indoors. Service is friendly and quick. Big choice of local pies and dessert. My favourite drink is the "Ghürotne" . Try it out if you like apple cider.

Gasthaus Hoher Hirschberg is a great place to hike and eat some fries. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good time!

Fantastic... the view... WOW. Very comfortable to simply eat and admire nature. It also has a cool playground for you. Definitely worth checking out. Different ways to go for a longer or shorter walk... even with a stroller.

Beautiful place, the apple strudel with vanilla sauce was one of the best I've ever tasted! Very friendly family business, nicely furnished, a highlight in the Appenzellerland. Gladly again!

Friendly staff, good infrastructure, Menu Cordonbleu excellent. With the offer of lamb gigot for 39. - the meat was incredibly tough. The staff apologized that something had gone wrong. As a gesture of goodwill, one could have expected at least one free coffee or even a little more (12 menus in total). It's a shame if the idea of ​​selling falls by the wayside.
