Very warm hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Spa area was recently remodeled. Very nicely decorated. The pool a bit small, but clean. The whole hotel was very clean and well maintained. The food was a delight and also very generous in quantity. We'd love to come back.

We only spent one night in the hotel but we really liked the experience. The room was spacious, with comfortable beds and a bathroom with a shower and bathtub. It had a superb view of the mountains. The spa is complete and perfect both for families (the children enjoyed playing in the pool) and for adults: the hammam and sauna after a day spent outside in winter are good! The restaurant was also excellent. It offers cuisine that mixes tradition and originality, but of gastronomic quality. The choice of wines is excellent too! Service was prompt and friendly at all times. We will definitely come back to the hotel!

The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. The view from the balcony is mega. Wellness facilities include a sauna, a steam bath and a bio sauna, as well as a smaller pool. Everything is rather smaller, and when there is a lot going on, it quickly becomes a bit overcrowded. The specified gym was not available, and we were not told that you could use the gym at a partner hotel. Breakfast in the morning is plentiful and satisfying.

This hotel located in Kandersteg is really a gem: clean and pretty rooms, very varied breakfast with choice and quality (very good local cheeses 😋 among others), the spa is clean and very well appointed (1 sauna at 90' , another at 55' with essential oils, a hammam, 1 Scottish shower, a relaxation room, a swimming pool, 1 elliptical bike, a nutrition corner with fruits, dried fruits, nuts). The welcome is really smiling, attentive, plus she speaks French. We were upgraded without asking. We visited it at the beginning of December, just before the start of the winter season. As a result, it was very quiet.

The hotel is really good rooms perfect we took junior suit so. The spa is insane the sauna hammam was really good. The hotel cleaning services "staff" was gentle and nice. Everything was almost perfect beside the restaurant. The restaurant is really bad and very expensive compared to other restaurants in Switzerland. I truly do not recommend the restaurant!! -- The hotel is really great, the rooms are very comfortable, the spa, sauna, swimming pool and exceptional hammam. The staff is very welcoming however the restaurant is a real scam. The dishes are just lousy compared to our French or Belgian brasseries. The fish doesn't taste like cava meat but the price was not right. 1 dish: 59 CH 2 dishes: 65 CH Frankly, we were extremely disappointed, especially with the waiter, a charming gentleman with glasses who, to give us confidence, declared himself Belgian on the Flemish side but above all who sold us a dream which ultimately resulted in immense disappointment. In summary, the hotel is impeccable and the restaurant is worth looking elsewhere.

Good mountain hotel. Great views, good breakfast. Very clean

The hotel is rather small, but nice. It's homely and you feel comfortable. The rooms are functional, well furnished and clean. Walls are a bit noisy. The breakfast buffet was rather small but everything was very tasty and fresh. Indoor pool was a bit too small and dark but very clean. We didn't use the SPA area (saunas).

Unfortunately we are very disappointed with this hotel. If the restaurant is closed for 2 days, there is practically no service in the hotel either. The receptionist was distant and strange. The superior room was very tight. The seating is set up so that you look into a corner. Is it permissible to have electrical cables laid unprotected everywhere on the balcony in Switzerland? A bathroom where you can hardly turn. And the rubber seal of the shower is sticking out and not all the spots are lightening. The shower cubicle feels smaller than the one in our motorhome. And the highlight was the plastic toilet seat. The lighting concept in the room is very simple. There is only one switch for bright light from various ceiling lights or the bedside lamp. Nothing can be dimmed for a soft light. The room looks much better in the photos than in reality. The narrowness of the room is skilfully avoided with the perspective of taking photos. Breakfast is served in an unpleasant room with acoustics where you would rather not discuss private matters with your partner. Simply canteen-like, and then equipped with very uncomfortable chairs. The whole hotel is outdated and only superficially decorated. And in the highly praised panoramic relaxation room it was a cozy 12 degrees, even though there was a heater in it but it wasn't turned on. According to the internet, the wellness is in operation from 2 p.m., but when we were there it was only at 4 p.m.!? I don't usually write such detailed reviews. But we were really disappointed with this hotel visit. Otherwise we are traveling in our motorhome and wanted to treat ourselves to something special. And we couldn't discuss this with the lady at reception because she apparently can't handle criticism and blocked us by simply not saying anything about it. That's why I'm telling you our experiences with this hotel here.

Nice authentic Swiss hotel. Good breakfast

Unfortunately we were only able to spend one night. But the hotel was all the more convincing. We received a very friendly welcome and were informed about all our options. We even received a free upgrade to our booked room and felt like royalty. The spa area was wonderfully versatile with a lovingly furnished little health bar for snacking. The dinner was excellent. The menu can be adapted and combined very flexibly so that it suits everyone. The breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired! Fine different breads, cheese variations, meat, fruits, homemade yoghurts and jams, numerous muesli mixtures, and, and, and... Not to forget a coffee machine that offers perfect coffee variants. We would come here again at any time!

Very nice location, lovely staff, small but delicious breakfast buffet, the bread was really amazing. There are deductions for clairaudience; a few guests don't know the word consideration. Oh yes, the shower drain was blocked, but if no one reports it, they can't do anything about it :-) So people, if you notice something, please let the reception know, otherwise they can't do anything, they can't read minds, even if you do that sometimes It feels like that :-D Another big compliment to Adriano, he did a really good reception.

Thank you to the owners and staff for a lovely stay at the Alfa Soleil. Everyone was kind and helpful and patient with our many questions. It was delightful to experience a comfortable hotel with such excellent hospitality. And we got to see the Swiss cows with their bells and flower garlands, parading right past the hotel. Again, many thanks for a memorable week in beautiful Kandersteg.

I really wanted to love this place. We bought a package through a travel company and were so excited about our placement here. The rooms looked cute, the location was perfect, the spa downstairs was an added bonus after hiking the Alps, and the food was rated so highly! However, this place was such a disappointment. First of all, the staff were so rude and unhelpful for the duration of our stay. Anytime we needed something, it was met with scoffs and eye rolls. While the dinners were excellent, the other meals left a lot to be desired. Second, we were supposed to have lunch included in our package which was available from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. everyday. However, in reality, no food was left by 9:00 a.m. and when I asked the hotel staff about this, they simply remarked that we should have gotten there sooner. With much protesting, we were able to pack a picnic lunch from the breakfast bar but we felt cheated and the selection was very slim, particularly in terms packable items. During the "gourmet" meals, we had no choice about the food we were served. This wasn't typically a problem except on days that beef was served because we can't eat red meat due to health issues. We even shared this concern on day 1 of our stay so as to not be a problem in the moment, but we had to continually ask for any alternative. Third, the rooms were unseasonably warm which was not the fault of the hotel of course given climate change. However, when I asked for a fan, they told me that they don't have any and as a result I did not sleep for most of my stay. The shower alternated between very hot and very cold water, and I see this was mentioned in a review from 5 years ago and the owner suggested that it would be fixed. Unfortunately, it has not been fixed (and maybe it can't be?). Overall, I was really disappointed about this experience and therefore, would not recommend it.

We received a very friendly welcome (Adriano, great guy) and everything was explained to us very well. Our suite was very nice and clean with a huge balcony. And then the sauna area and the small pool were also really nice. In the evening came the ultimate highlight, the food. You can't really say much about it, other than WORLD CLASS with the addition of a star! The breakfast buffet was also very tasty. Many different types of bread and everything that goes with it, included Fresh fruits. Me and my wife would like to say thank you to the whole team for the lovely weekend and we will definitely come back again. Highly recommended.

Definitely wonderful cozy hotel!! Location is really good. We were in room 324, and from our „superior“ room we enjoyed outstanding view! Hotel is built by beautiful wooden style, good renovated. Sauna area and garden was also very clean and comfortable. If you would like to enjoy swiss vacation in Kandersteg, I can only recommend!!!

My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Alfa Soleil on a 5 night walking holiday booked through Headwater Holidays. We were made to feel very valued and important guests from the moment we arrived at Kandersteg railway station. Adriano met us on the platform and drove us the short 3 minutes to the hotel, situated on the outskirts of the village. Adriano then offered us a welcome drink and gave us a very comprehensive overview of the hotel and our planned activities for our stay. Our room had a great view from its balcony and it was clean and the ensuite was a good size and well equipped. The hotel had a good spa and swimming pool, somewhere to relax in after a day of mountain walking. The food at every meal was beautiful - well presented and nothing was any trouble for the staff. On rainy days, staff suggested alternative places to visit and we would recommend a trip to Spiez. The cable cars were all within a reasonable walk from the hotel and the guest card we received on arrival gave us free travel on both train and bus services in the Kandersteg region. Overall, a great holiday in a super hotel in a very pretty Swiss village, with spectacular scenery everywhere. Our only negative comment is that 5 days was not enough time to do everything we wanted to!!

Bonjour, Gott grüez I! Normally I don't post... but this hotel plus restaurant far exceeded expectations. We had an unforgettable experience, the spa was relaxing and brand new. The rooms are spacious with light. The restaurant "Nico's" was mind-blowing... one of the best culinary experiences I have had since moving to Genève. Best Suisse restaurant I've had so far. In short, I would strongly recommend! Merci!

Very clean, pretty hotel, a breathtaking view, a lovely spa open late afternoon (no children at certain times ❤️), and a swimming pool equipped with a counter-current swimming system open almost all day . The welcome is friendly and warm (thanks Adriano), We appreciated the bedding as well as the careful decoration and the dimmable lamps in the room. We just regret that the curtains are not as blackout as they should be.

We arrived super late in total improvisation. Arrival via Valais... it was late, and fortunately some hotels including Alfa Soleil keep small rooms. I was with my son and we were able to take advantage of a smaller, cheaper room. Expensive for our budget but accessible and we were able to stay 2 days. The place is super well located, the breakfast is delicious, the staff is very nice. Relaxation area in the basement was great.

Warm, peaceful and comfortable stay We spent three nights in this hotel, first of all warm welcome and in French by Adriano, we immediately felt like a family atmosphere. We had a very comfortable superior double room with a balcony and a magnificent view of the mountain, excellent bedding, armchair with small table, a bottle of water on arrival and the possibility of making coffee. Perfect insulation, impeccable cleanliness, small but functional bathroom. We took advantage of the SPA which is very well appointed and the swimming pool especially at the end of the day. Very complete breakfast with lots of varieties of bread and cereals. Nothing is missing, the staff is very attentive and warm. Very good and free parking. We will return without hesitation.

Great accommodation option. The town is wonderful, and the accommodation has everything you need for a 10-minute stay. It is very quiet and pleasant. The only suggestion for improvement: harder/higher pillows.

The hotel is completely ok. The rooms are a bit old, or just seem a bit old. However, the rooms are clean and inviting. I find the price a bit steep, especially for families with children. The wellness area is tip top. Small but enough for a few pleasant hours. With a very decelerating lift you can relax on a kind of roof terrace. The view from there is simply a fantastic mountain panorama. The breakfast buffet is well stocked, unfortunately the fruits weren't all that fresh. It's better to leave them out instead of offering moldy strawberries. The dinner was completely ok. Had a vegan lemon "risotto" (previously registered as lactose-free) which simply tasted like lemon (like biting into a lemon) and had nothing to do with a risotto. There are plenty of other options here too. Since it was announced weeks in advance, it didn't come as a surprise. The gluten-free salad had a different sauce, but there were croutons on it.

The highlight was the checking. We received an extremely friendly welcome from the boss. We have probably never been welcomed like this before. We really appreciated the helpful tips for excursions and hikes. We were more than satisfied with the room. Only that a lot of things in the bathroom were wobbling and were no longer screwed on tightly. Like this rail for the bath towel, the holder for the toilet paper and the water tap we suddenly had in our hands. But it's not something that can be fixed with a screwdriver. What is unfortunately not so easy to fix are the low doors/entrances to the two bathrooms. If you forget to duck at night, you'll probably fall asleep again afterwards.

We have spent a wonderful week exploring the area from this hotel. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The rooms are warm, clean, and comfortable. And the food is excellent. The hotel is well situated to get into the centre of Kandersteg, and all the cable cars are in easy walking distance. They also have a great spa area, and excellent views of the mountains. If you are thinking about exploring the area, this hotel is a great place to start!

Had a wonderful week at the Alfa Soleil, all the staff were very friendly, the room was clean and spacious enough for two with the best view you could wish for. we stayed half board and the food and service was excellent. Would recommend a stay here to anyone

It's a super great hotel with a fantastic restaurant. All employees do their best. A big compliment to the kitchen with René and Diana. They do masterful work. The rooms are in perfect condition and are cleaned daily. Thumbs up for housekeeping here too. The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired and every guest is served with friendliness and respect. We'll definitely be back 😃😃😃

There is no fitness room. A cheap stepper in the hallway and a second similar device in the same place... Saunas are beautifully made but also well attended. Rooms are a bit old but large and comfortable. Certainly one of the better alternatives in the area. No, we were not told anything about the partner hotel and their fitness room.

The manager and Head Chief were very welcoming and professional. Our room was lovely, but not all rooms are the same size. The views were breathtaking. I'd love to return.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was very polite and we especially enjoyed our interactions with Adriano, the man who manages the reception. Do eat at their restaurant, Nico's, if you stay here.. The food was awesome. The drink suggestions by the staff were also on point. We enjoyed Adriano's magic tricks at our table.. we did notice that the kids had fun seeing him perform his tricks. The rooms were clean and well serviced. Breakfast buffet, from 7am to 10am, had a decent spread with some limited vegeterian options too. Beautiful location and decent parking spaces available in hotel. We will certainly consider staying with them in case we visit there again.

The quality of the food is very good. The service is nice. The waiting time is simply too long. Admittedly there were eight of us at the table, but, with these prices, the food should be served to everyone at the same time. The fact that everyone was invited to pay at the “checkout” when paying separately is considered inappropriate.

Nice hotel with indoor pool/sauna, good breakfast and restaurant

What a horrible hotel this was! Booked 2 nights. Sweltering hot in the family rooms and no air conditioning or fan in sight. Barely slept because of this. The second day they came with a fan that didn't work. The view was beautiful and the location was ideal (near the toboggan run), but I don't think that is a reason to ask 1000 euros for 2 nights. This price did include breakfast and we had 1 dinner, which was inedible. 170 euros for 2 adults and 2 children's menus is ridiculous! If the food is really tasty then I'm certainly willing to pay for it. 2 hotels further they had much better food for less than half the price. The last day we also wanted to have breakfast. Breakfast is until 10 a.m. and we were there at half past 9. Breakfast is really mediocre, but that day they were almost out of rolls, including croissants. When we asked if we could get the money back for breakfast because there was nothing left for us, we were looked at strangely and the receptionist said that this was not possible. She also questioned my information by making inquiries in the kitchen. Very customer unfriendly staff. I stay in many hotels and have plenty of material for comparison. I will never recommend this! Only if they reduce the price by 50% and then only for the location. Photos on the website of the rooms look nicer than in reality. People who rate this hotel well are either not used to anything or are satisfied with less

The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The room was beautiful, very clean and quiet. The comfortable bedding allowed us to have an effective rest. I'm sure we'll return there on our next trip.

Fine hotel in a beautiful town. Short walk to Oeschinensee gondola. About 2 km walk to Allmenalp cable car.

They gave me the wrong room initially. I didn't realize it as I was busy cleaning up my multi-day hike. They called me and moved me to the correct room without issues.

The surroundings are incredibly beautiful, there are many options here in Kandersteg ☺️ the reception is also very friendly 😊 the wellness area is also nice.. The breakfast was catastrophic. There was almost nothing left, even though they described on the website that there was plenty of breakfast, unfortunately that didn't correspond. The service at breakfast was annoyed and unfriendly. Breakfast is the most important thing of the whole day and it was a failure. The whole day was ruined for us. At least until the evening. The room cleaning wasn't great either, they only cleaned half the time. We left the wiping cloth in the room and didn't hang up the towels again or air them out. In a hotel you can expect all of this as a guest to always find a clean room.. The food is also way too expensive at 80 francs. for 2 people and then you are not We are happy that we can go home today and finally we will never come to this hotel again.

Nice hotel with very good management. Also suitable for seminars and meetings. Simple but nice rooms. The attached restaurant has very good cuisine with fresh ingredients. Nice and rich breakfast buffet.

Staff very friendly. Food and breakfast buffet great! Very nice view from the balcony. Unfortunately, for the steep price, the rooms are not in perfect condition, which is what you might expect. A lampshade was broken, the lamp didn't work and in the morning there was a really unpleasant smell coming from the shower siphon. Was reported when checking out...but only half-heartedly accepted as if no one cared. In addition, everything is very poorly soundproofed. The bathroom door doesn't really lock. Otherwise everything was clean in the room.

The rooms and the pool appear much better in the photos than in reality. Most of the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, but the owner's wife makes guests feel unwelcome and a burden. For the price asked, the cleaning and maintenance of the rooms should be much better. The restaurant including the staff is top! It seems to be a very child-friendly house. The sauna facility is beautifully designed, but poorly insulated, children playing around in the pool can be heard loudly, as if you were staying in the same room. The very slippery floor by the pool needs to be replaced urgently, it is far too dangerous. All in all, it is a very beautiful, rustic house with a lot of charm.

We spent 4 days with you as a family. The room size was ideal for us as a family. The staff was very friendly and attentive in all respects. We enjoyed the food excellently. So all in all a highly recommended hotel. If there is anything to complain about at all, it is the location on the main road. But otherwise great

Excellent experience in this hotel, but it is mainly thanks to the impeccable service. At first glance we found ourselves in a poorly insulated room (noise from neighbors ++), too hot to sleep despite the radiators being turned off, and above all no curtains to hide the street lamp and the sunlight in the morning.. . after this chaotic night the staff was very friendly and offered us a free upgrade to one of their suites, so the rest of the stay was just perfect. Kudos for customer service!

Wife and I stayed there during the Christmas holidays and found the management and staff extremely accommodating and the restaurant and breakfast very good…except for the housekeeping staff. When we checked into the room, we noticed there were no curtains. The management was quick to jump on it but when two of the housekeeping staff arrived, they were not up to the task. So much so that they deliberately talked and joked extremely loud, walked and stepped on the chairs and our bed…with their dirty shoes on. They left not being able to fit the curtains and came back later- complaining they had to do this extra work- with the correct hooks to attach the curtains. (we understand their language from visiting Portugal many times) Again, they walked on our chairs and when they proceeded to walk again on our bed with their shoes on, we politely asked them not to do it. They insisted and we said no. They then left in a storm, crashing our door (the job was finished nonetheless). Later the next day the same employee deliberately crashed repeatedly their vacuum cleaner in our door causing me to open, smile at her then keep the door open so they would not do it again. We really loved the people and hotel/restaurant there. Unfortunately, the housekeeping ladies (2 of them) made it like a two bit dive in the middle of a poor neighborhood. We’d love to give 5stars, maybe if we stay again, we won’t have employees that think they can get away with intimidating guests.

The welcome was very warm and we were given a larger room with more space with a cot. The room, like the whole house, was a little old, but it functioned perfectly. The service staff at dinner were very friendly and the food was also tasty. The breakfast buffet was great and had everything you needed. We were able to enjoy and relax in the short time we had in the hotel. When we looked at the offer again at home, we realized that unfortunately we were not offered the welcome drink and the closing gift. Apparently that was forgotten. It's a shame

Quiet hotel, good food, great breakfast

Very nice and cozy hotel in a best location. The junior suite with balcony is very nice. The bathroom is large with a large corner shower. The bed comfortable. Very nice and helpful staff. The package deal with e-mountain bike is highly recommended. Great bike tours in Kandersteg. Nico's Restaurant, which is part of the hotel, offers really excellent cuisine. Since it is very popular, always reserve a table.

Alfa Soleil provides 5* service, with meals perfectly cooked and beautifully presented every evening. Stunning location with access to local walks. We made use of the pool, and really appreciated the fill your flask service.

Rooms are old but clean. Food is very good. Friendly and the price was right too. Tip: Rent an e-bike for half a day. For 25 francs that's fair.!!!!

This time I only visited the restaurant because the hotel is completely overpriced. The price-performance ratio is no longer suitable here.

We stayed at Alfa Soleil for a long weekend with our 4 children. From the welcome to the farewell, everything was perfect for us. The children also had a lot of fun in the hotel. This hotel is highly recommended.

The best customer i've experienced in 6 years living in Switzerland. The manager Daniel was attentive to all of our requests as we were arriving on skis from a multi-day ski touring trip. He held our day bags we mailed to the hotel ahead of time, picked us up from the lift, provided slippers for our weary feet as we had no shoes, and had a planchette prepared even though the restaurant wasn't open. The rooms were clean and comfortable with an incredible view. Our group all agreed we'd stay no where else in Kandersteg.

My husband and I spontaneously booked this hotel and are extremely satisfied. The team is super nice and attentive, so we felt like we were in good hands when we checked in. A great room, very comfortable and perfectly clean. It's great that you can rent the sauna and the pool offers nice refreshment. The dinner was really great. Very tasty and beautifully prepared. The greeting from the kitchen to try was also very tasty. We were really speechless that the chef exceeded our expectations. Compliments! + Very nice service. Breakfast was also nicely prepared and plentiful. Scrambled eggs with bacon would have perfected it, but maybe it will be included in the morning buffet 😁 We say thank you very much for everything and will definitely come back soon

Junior Suiite für 300,- CHF gebucht über Booking.com, für 4 Übernachtungen. 2 Erw. und zwei Kinder. Zustellbetten wurden angeboten. Zimmer aber entsprach keiner Junior Suite, sehr dunkel, schmal, schon gar nicht zu dem Preis. Bei Nachfrage für ein Wechsel wurde uns ein ein zusätzliches Zimmer für die Kinder abgeboten, für 40 CHF, was ok wäre. Aber die Junior Suite hätten wir behalten müssen. Uns wurde als weitere Option auch angeboten, das Hotel zu verlassen, mit einer suffisanten Geste (Arm zeigte zum Ausgang). Das musste man uns nicht ein zweites Mal sagen und brachen den Urlaub nach einer Nacht ab.

Sehr freundliches Personal, tolles Essen und innovatives Team - auch sehr zu empfehlen ist Nico‘s Online Restaurant. So kann das tolle Essen auch zu Hause genossen werden!

Altes Hotel, Duschbrause defekt und leichter Schimmel im Bad. Personal freundlich. Nico‘s Restaurant: Viel zu lange Wartezeit.. über 2,5 Stunden gewartet für 2 Gänge.. Zum Schluss das Dessert abbestellt. Essen war gut. Frühstück war gut.

War für ein Kurzurlaub hier,über den Jahreswechsel. Absolut top Adresse Essen war himmlisch gut. Personal super nett.Sauber und ruhig.Ich komme wider. Das Morgenpersonal im Frühstücksraum ist was launisch und in Diskussionen mit sich beschäftigt.Aber störte mich nicht weiter

Älteres Hotel, unser Zimmer war aber schön renoviert. Das Frühstüch war mit genug Auswahl sehr fein. Das Nachtessen im Nico‘s super. Das Personal sehr freundlich. Pool und Sauna haben wir nicht benutzt. Ein Stern abzug für das Wlan, war in unserem Zimmer nicht wirklich gut funktionierte ( habe ich vor Ort gemeldet).

Nous y avons séjourné 2 nuits fin août. L'accueil y était excellent autant au restaurant qu'à la réception, nous avons magnifiquement bien mangé. Nous avons pu profiter de la piscine, heureusement car le soleil n'était pas de la partie et pratique avec un enfant de 3 ans. Mais le souci était la chambre qui ne ressemblait pas du tout aux photos du site internet, alors que dans notre confirmation de réservation il était noté: "Une belle chambre "supérior". Les produits d'accueil à la salle de bain étaient ouverts.... Nous avons tout de même passé un bon week-end.
