Very friendly service and excellent food. Homemade tagliatelle, fish, meat and vegi, everything was wonderful. The menu probably changes monthly. In terms of ambience, it's not my style like the two partner restaurants Dampfschiff and Ludmilla, just completely different, more of a cool, modern village pub character. We will definitely come back because of the great food.

Fantastic place we found after a morning walk in Steffisberg. Went in for a lunchtime menu of Pumpkin soup and fish goujouns on polenta with seasonable vegatables. All was homemade and full of flavour. Staff were friendly and attentive and if we spoke better German / swiss German I am sure we would have had a nice chat. Highly recommended.

The renovation was very successful, the modern style is evidence of a well thought-out concept. The monthly changing menu is clear and offers something for everyone. From meat lovers to vegans, everyone gets their money's worth. We enjoyed the four-course vegetarian Menu Surprise and were actually surprised at the variety of flavors and textures in each course. The eggplant tartare was a taste explosion, the cold white tomato soup with basil espuma was a dream. We probably wouldn't have ordered the main course with a variation of just cauliflower and broccoli, but we would definitely have missed something. And the final variation of the apricot is an absolute poem. Plus courteous service, a well-stocked wine list (with specialties for beer lovers too) and the whole thing including an aperitif for under 100 francs per person. Oh yes, did I mention the freshly baked fabulous focaccia that was served with it? Again any time!

The food was excellent, the service was good with potential for improvement, the ambience is very good but a bit lait, you can hear the people sitting two tables away discussing things, even if they do so quietly. But we will definitely come back.

This was our second time there and we can only recommend the bear! From the food to the service to the ambience, everything comes together. We will happily visit the bear again.

The team is young and organized, we received very friendly service. The dessert variations are creative and it was delicious! I like the ambience, the lots of wood gives a homely feeling.

Very nicely renovated restaurant, top friendly and attentive service. Lunch including a starter for two with drinks and coffee for 54 CHF is very decent. The knöpfli were delicious, the pork sausage was a bit dry with little sauce, the chard casserole was mediocre.

The old Bären village pub was completely renovated and reopened. What an asset to the village! Very modern, bright, friendly. The team is very accommodating and motivated. The food was excellent. I will be happy to visit here regularly. Own parking garage available. Access via Scheidgasse.

The new bear in Steffisburg shines not only thanks to the newly renovated inn but also because of the warm welcome we received during our visit. The guest room offers a very cozy atmosphere, reminiscent of a modern village pub, which made us forget time. The clear menu includes local and seasonal dishes and a 4-course menu, which was our choice that evening. The dishes were all a feast for the palate and eyes. The team around Livia Ambühl and Simon Bukrhalter gave us an excellent evening that we would like to experience many more times.
