Consistently one of the best restaurants in Milan. Absolutely charming environment with a beautiful outdoors terrace in an impressive patio. Traditional Italian and Milanese dishes. Efficient service. With tablecloths.

Mediocre experience. Excellent cured meats and cheeses, good Milanese risotto. Negative note of the place was the rudeness of a waiter... from the moment we didn't order wine (as we are teetotalers) he turned badly. He treated us differently from the other diners, with an air of superiority and at times indifference... even forgetting to bring a dessert, and made us wait a good 15 minutes to bring us the bill.

The food was acceptable, the service was fast but not welcoming at all. Finally, the place is a real gem

As for the food, I'm speechless, I love steaks, I've tried them in several states but this was the pinnacle of everything. My girlfriend was excited about Raviol. They sat us outside and we had to ask them to turn on the gas stove after sitting for 15 minutes. When they brought the bread they didn't point out that it had nuts, and luckily I was able to see it before eating it! They didn't apologize... They brought the pasta burning, but in 2 minutes it got cold... For what it costs, it wasn't worth it at all. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!

SCAM - DO NOT COME HERE (A review by an italian) - The pasta tastes and looks microwaved: It tasted like plastic and stuck together. I showed the waiter, he agreed and said he would let the kitchen know. I received no apology or compensation. I am italian and this is the worst italian food I have ever had(outside of italy included). The fact that they charged 26€ for this pasta is beyond my understanding. - Horrible customer service: They treat you horribly and show zero respect for you. They do not have an understanding of what customer service is. They do not apologize for anything and don’t compensate for their mistakes. After complaining about the disgusting pasta and not being told the white bread had nuts hidden inside politely(my boyfriend is allergic) I did not hear a single apology. They simply do not care about you. Following my complaint the waiter brought the bill without saying a word. They did not discount anything or offer a free coffee to compensate for their poor service. I asked to talk to the manager and he was apparently too busy to come and talk to us. Considering this is a pricy place I was shocked by such rudeness. Overall, for the price of this restaurant the quality of service and food is horrifying. Even if the prices were low, I would still find it unacceptable to serve such poor quality of food. You do not find this low quality pasta anywhere else (you can cook yourself better pasta if you’ve never cooked before in your life). PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!

Actually, the biggest advantage is the atmosphere. On a nice day, I go outdoors to experience just that. Food is average. As expected from a tourist destination, the service is friendly.

Me and my girlfriend went here for her birthday as we saw the court yard pics online before we went and thought it would be a nice setting. Plus the place has been around for a long time so thought the food would be amazing. When we got there we was seated outside and it was an amazing setting. The guy that was serving us was anything but helpful.( grey hair with glasses) It seemed that everything we asked was too much trouble for him. We didn't understand some of the menu and asked him to explain and he just didn't seem interested. So we ordered two pasta dishes one with mushrooms and one with a bolgnese sauce to it and it was just very mediocre. I was hugely disappointed with this place. And even the desert was like a cheap trifle. Its ashame as this place is beautiful for a romantic meal. Just ashame about the service and food. And at the end he tried to charge for cocktails that we didn't have, but before we mentioned that we didn't have cocktails he tried to say that the disarano and coke was a cocktail. Then we pointed out but its on the bill aswell. He just stormed off and corrected the bill. Just rude and the meal cost over €100 so not worth it at all.

Love this place. Burrata larger than your fist. Wine list: from reasonable to very expensive. Meat ravioli with Truffle cream sauce was the bomb.

well what can I say, a spectacular place, beautiful both inside and outside. The air you breathe is beautiful tranquility and carefree. The only flaw is the food unfortunately. Only the cold cuts and cheese platters can be considered sufficient for the price and location. well in the end salumaio is the name of the place, the other terrible and very expensive food Milanese cutlet on the bone arrived without the bone, sliced ​​meat without flavor and very badly plated, panettone, among other things among the dishes recommended by the chef who is at least old 5 days. I won't go back again, a total disappointment. We visited the restaurant on January 15th knowing its reputation very well. The service was terrible, with waiters basically throwing the plates at the table and with an attitude showing they were bored to be there. The food was abysmal to say the least, especially considering the high prices you pay. The saffron risotto is definitely not worth the 25€ price tag. It’s really a shame, because there is an Il Salumaio in Athens as well which I wanted to visit, but after this experience I won’t.

On the 18th of January I got robbed in the restaurant. I was having lunch with 2 friends and when we arrived I asked the waiter do they have a storage room for the suitcases. He proposed to leave them behind our table. At the end we noticed one of them is missing. They don’t have any camera on spot, they admitted that robberies like are often!? They didn’t seem to care a lot that this incident happened on the ground in their restaurant. I won’t be surprised if they work together with an organized group. Be aware going into this place. Also food and service aren’t anything close to what they should be for such a pricey, fancy and popular restaurant.

Cold atmosphere, unfriendly server, my meat pasta was bland, I had difficulty digesting..

Very beautiful place, helpful staff and very friendly. People smiling and ready to make you feel good from the start. That was all the good stuff. Food unacceptable. What we got tasted like a hospital. Salad without any taste. Vegetables that were simply thrown into the dish. A risotto that resembled the Greek lapa. You know what they give sick people for cutting. Finally a calf that I was looking for until the end to find its identity. I think it was more like fried fish tongue. The worst of all was that no one in charge came to apologize or even make a discount on the price. Never go there.

I would say the food is good, I took a risotto & a tarte tatin. Service was good at the beginning but I think they are not enough waiter or the manager is not supporting. It took forever to get the dessert& another big time just to get the check.

As for the food, very good although the prices are definitely too high but the problem is the service. They didn't bring us the wine list and hearing the waiter talking loudly to a customer about travel and "female sexual organs" was not very polite and at the level of the restaurant. A five star restaurant in Milano with amazing fresh ingredients like artichokes salad. Update: Tiramisu was much better the second try. But would definetly return. You'll need a reservation but sometimes you can just walk in since they have tons of sitting but the most valuable ones are in the garden. More on the return visit: Definitely the garden is the best for people watching. The fish with crusted pistachio did not taste like a fish and not that grear, but still remains a 5 star establishment.

we asked twice for a cured meat appetizer to share in three people, the result was the lil dish you can see in the picture. the service was simply awesome, total absence of menu explication, even for the wine list. seems like the waiter was there to make you a favor. the location is simply wonderful, and the food is good. overall, the expectations were much higher. personally i will never be back in a place where waiters are so careless towards costumers.

It's a truly unspeakable place. I booked at 12 today, they wanted the surname. I arrive at 6pm and they tell me that they have sold everything. I told them well if they didn't trust me they could ask me for the credit card.... And they pride themselves on being a historic place in Via Montenapoleone. Rascals!!

The restaurant’s venue is the only good thing about it! Food was average compared to the price! It’s really expensive i ended spending for myself alone 100 euros for risotto and beef carpaccio! They served the salad before the wine! the waiters like in rush to finish your food and leave the table! i didn’t feel comfortable so had to ask them to bring my food to go. Don’t think will return to this place

Absolutely wonderful place, inside a historic building in Milan, very clean and with attention to the smallest details. The dishes were good and the quantities were right, the service was courteous and helpful, the bread was good even if it wasn't crunchy (I'm not sure it was fresh). The bistro is also very nice, the bathroom is an absolute flaw! The bathroom is truly shameful compared to such a quality place! There is no hand cream, no perfume... nothing, a unisex bathroom with plastic soap dispensers and a room perfume diffuser with a single wooden stick that didn't even smell.... The towels for drying the hands were certainly made of cloth, but they were piled up in a messy way and the basket in the corner to throw them away was in bad taste... that bathroom absolutely needs to be revisited, not suitable for such a place! For the rest excellent experience

Really good surroundings (looks very lavish). The place could use some background music to add some additional ambience. The waiter was very attentive and went out of his way to help provide us with information. Food and wine arrived fast after we indicated that we needed to be away in about an hour or so.

We ate at a table inside, with an incredible cold (the windows brought in a lot of cold wind). Little foresight from the waiter who left the tables "thinking" for many, perhaps too many minutes. The bread wasn't great (slightly I can) and the Milanese risotto was just enough (no flavor to remember and the quantity was just enough to cover the dish). High bill and negative experience. The menu looked like that of any tourist place.

Nice location but too commercial, always a tourist menu of a normal restaurant. The restaurant is located in a beautiful period building in the center of Milan. We were in the internal room (the external one in summer is decidedly suggestive). Friendly and knowledgeable dining room staff, however, it was a pity about the poor quality food such as the cutlet which was decidedly inedible and the appetizer chosen which was microscopic (patanegra). The Milanese risotto is good but nothing more, average, you are in Milan so you must be able to cook at least one traditional dish that is at least discreet

To Brazilian friends: After having lunch at Osteria da Fortunata, we researched where the best Tiramissú in Milan would be and the first three lists indicated Il Salumaio in first place. It's hidden in a street in the Quadrilatero da Moda, one of the most noble areas of Milan for "consumption" so we knew the place would be top notch. At reception, we were well attended to and the attendant quickly directed us to a table. We weren't 1% as well dressed as the other customers, but at no point were we discriminated against or passed over. We all had the same service given to us. The restaurant works as a lounge bar/cafe, so we didn't need to order anything and went straight for the Tiramissú and a chocolate mousse with red fruit jelly. Both were delicious, but we found the tiramisu too buttery/greasy. It's very good, but we've eaten better in sweet shops in Brazil. We also ordered two espressos and a water. The bill was around 30 euros, which is in line with the standard of the place. Then we saw that it is a celebrity center in Milan and the inside is wonderful, so I'm sure the food must be wonderful, but we had already had lunch and we just went for dessert. If you just go to Tiramissú, you won't miss a trip, but it probably won't be the best in the city.

Paired with a fine red wine, these pasta dishes were a perfect match. The standout here was undoubtedly the fresh pasta, flawlessly cooked to perfection. Just wow. I dined here on the final night of my 2-week Italy trip. Possibly the best meal I had in Italy. Amazing service. My server was so kind and gave great recommendations. I started with an aperol spritz. I enjoyed a half-portion of pasta pomodoro with burrata and the swordfish (paired with a Chardonnay from Sicily). I barely had space for dessert but I did try the highly recommended tiramisu that did not disappoint! It was so good, I took half home to enjoy after my walk. I will be back 😊

Good atmosphere, but bad service. I forget to order, but I never apologize. The taste doesn't match the price at all. The porcini, which was supposed to be in season, was not tasty at all. There are better and more delicious restaurants nearby.

By far my favorite restaurant in Milan, everything is good, the service is excellent and the setting is elegant. The burrata is incredible, I've never seen anything like it. Very good Milanese chop as well as the pasta. In short, don’t hesitate if you are in Milan. It is always better to book to be sure of having a place.

It was by far the worst experience we have ever had in a restaurant in all our years traveling this world. We were treated extremely poorly. We arrived without a reservation, aware that we would have to wait, we announced while we were waiting that we wanted to have a dessert and a coffee and we patiently did so, even though from the beginning the receptionist was no longer the most polite, however we let it go. When it was our turn, we were seated and, after many minutes of waiting, a waiter came to us, handed us the menus and when we said we wanted coffee and dessert, he quickly took the menu out of our hands and refused, saying no. we could, that it was “restaurant only” and he continued to repeat sharply in a loop “restaurant only”, even though we tried to calmly explain that we had already informed the reception that from the beginning we wanted dessert and coffee and that at no time was this a problem. It was such a humiliating situation, we didn't understand if it was really happening or if we weren't understanding due to some possible language barrier, as it really didn't seem to be real. Well, we left the restaurant stunned and in silence and when the receptionist saw us walk through the door, he questioned what had happened and we explained that we were prevented from consuming what we wanted. This same man got scared and said that this didn't exist, he asked who the waiter was, I showed him, he told him that it wasn't like that, and decided to seat us again at the same table. The waiter didn't even care about the situation and, after sitting down, we realized that we no longer had any mood to stay and probably continue being humiliated in a restaurant full of tables and people and still running the risk of perhaps having our food and drinks violated by the frustration of the waiter (who even seemed to have been working for a long time) and certainly knows the correct rules. It was horrible, it was too sad, it was very, very humiliating. The only question remains whether the creation of these false rules by the waiter was due to xenophobia or because it seemed like an order that would not have a tip that he was interested in or because we did not appear to be the high ticket customer that he would have liked.
