Always very well received, the cuisine and products are always at the top, it's a pleasure to go there!

I really like the Java, the tartares are a delight as are their cocktails.

Great service, amazing atmosphere. Not too crowded, but all tables were taken. 65chf for meal, dessert and two cocktails, which is not expensive for the Lausanne city center. I will be happy to be back again :)

The beef satay a pure delight, we feel that it is cooked with taste and love... We came as a group for a professional lunch, menu reduced at midday as soon as the number of people is greater than 10. Very good restaurant, the dishes were excellent, very well served. The servers were very friendly, responsive, fast! The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, a bit of a retro effect with a lot of charm. The dishes are a little expensive… you have to count at least 35 francs for a dish (unless you take the pancakes). Little extra: the desserts are incredible and the portions are large! This note concerns two experiences we had with Java between December 2022 and January 2023. During our first visit, we came without a reservation for lunch because my partner is gluten intolerant and they have adapted cuisine. We arrive, a very friendly waitress offers to seat us upstairs and will take care of us for almost the entire meal. We order a truffle risotto as well as the poultry ballotine also accompanied by Risotto. I also take this opportunity to ask the question if it is possible to make sweet pancakes with buckwheat flour (gluten free) and we are confirmed that yes, it is a recurring request, no problem. The dishes arrive but unfortunately the risottos are almost raw and therefore inedible. We therefore reported it to our friendly waitress who quickly brought the dishes back to the kitchen and came back to confirm that she had tasted it and indeed, it was much more than al dente. We joke about it, it happens, no worries. We waited a bit and were served again. Both dishes were very good this time, nothing to add. We therefore order a buckwheat crepe for dessert, once again specifying the gluten allergy. We receive our dessert from another waiter and I notice (luckily for them, before tasting) that the color is too light to be buckwheat. So I call the waiter to ask the question, he is not sure and goes to our first waitress who apologizes, she forgot to specify this in the kitchen. How to put it... we're trying to put things into perspective but it could have been catastrophic. We then eat the pancake, very good, and ask for a coffee and the bill. Not a single commercial gesture, not even on coffee... it's not obligatory but it would have been the least we could do... But it was good, so we come out saying that it's the weekend, relax. So we're enjoying the experience this weekend. We arrive again to eat without a reservation, but it's not crowded at all, the waiter tells us that we can go up and sit down (alone). After 15 minutes of waiting, we still saw no one approach our table while we saw the waiter who brought us in snacking downstairs between 2 coffees for the customers. We tell ourselves that he has forgotten and my companion approaches the railing to kindly wave to him. His only answer? "𝘊𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵 to 𝘱𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘦 10𝘮𝘪𝘯 𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘷𝘰𝘶𝘴 ê𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪 𝘴, 𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭è𝘨𝘶𝘦 𝘷𝘢 𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳”. 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘇-𝗺𝗼𝗶, 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗹 𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗾 𝘂𝗶? We weren't asking for the moon but politeness in catering is the least we can do. We took our things and went to the blue lizard which was previously owned by the same owner. Only one waitress for the room and no more people, but in 10 minutes we were seated, drinks served and orders taken..

We were in Java on New Year's Day 2022. A nice place, friendly and attentive hosts. The menu was excellent. The scallops and dessert were particularly outstanding. A restaurant to recommend.

The place has a lot of character, it’s a pleasant restaurant where you feel good. The food is good and well made without being exceptional. The big problem lies with personnel and mainly with deadlines and responsiveness. I have had the opportunity to eat there on several occasions (lunch/dinner) and this problem is recurring. I'm generally not in a hurry at a restaurant but 1 hour of waiting to receive my dish is still limited.

Il y a quelques semaines en arrière, j'ai partagé un repas avec une amie dans cet établissement que j'avais l'habitude de fréquenter ces dernières années. Or, ce jour-là, malheureusement, les plats servis étaient pas assez chaud. Nous avons fait la remarque au garçon qui a ramené les assiettes en cuisine. Mais comble de malchance, les mets étaient toujours pas à la bonne température. Finalement, nous avons mangé et juste fait la remarque au garçon au moment de payer. Et puis, je me suis permis de faire une remarque à l'établissement. M. Wegmuller a pris la peine de me répondre et m'a, en plus, adressé un bon de CHF 50.-- . J'ai trouvé sa réaction très"classe" et je salue ce geste qui, à mon avis, n'est pas fréquent! Je retournerai dans cet établissement avec plaisir car jusqu'à cette expérience malheureuse, j'ai toujours été bien servi et j'apprécie leur cuisine originale.

2eme visite dans ce restaurant. 1ère bonne impression confirmée. Accueil et service : naturel, attentifs, professionnels. Cuisine : plat du jour aux saveurs sri lankaises : très bien exécuté juste parfaitement épicé : un régal Ambiance : musique, déco, lumières. Tout est fait pour passer un moment des plus agréables. Ça fait du bien. Très bon rapport qualité-prix hormis qu’il manque peut-être un 1er prix de vin blanc au verre à moins de chf 6 le dl. Adresse à recommander sans hésitation. !!!
