Le Pointu in Lausanne

We came for a brunch without reservation and was seated at the window high chairs, not the most ergonomic seat but it was nice as we could people watching the busy Saturday morning of lausanne :) They had typical brunch menu like egg benedict and more unique offer like shakshuka. Food portion was sufficient to fill up a man's hungry stomach. One of the best cafe in Lausanne!

The place is really nice, and the service friendly. The food, however, is terrible.

Excellent (historic) venue, ideal for cocktails and having a drink. I've been there several times and the cocktails are very good. The atmosphere is truly special, with soft light and large windows overlooking the street.

Very nice place for an aperitif with friends. Beautiful tapas/dishes menu to share or not. Slightly limited choice of wine (4 choices of whites and reds). Tried the platter to share with focaccia (very good). Nice discovery also the beef meatballs.

One of my favorite places for brunch in the city center, very close to the Riponne parking lot and ideal if you want to do some shopping afterwards. The place is very welcoming and the dishes are always delicious. Sometimes very noisy, especially on Sunday morning, and the prices are quite high but given that it's Lausanne, nothing shocking either. I always recommend this address to my friends and I always look forward to going back!

Too many people, not enough space between tables

It is said to be one of the best brunches in French-speaking Switzerland but I think that is no longer relevant. Before even being seated, we are reminded that we have 1h30 to eat, a shame for a Sunday when we want to take our time. The tables are collective, which leads to a certain proximity which in my opinion was not disturbing but note that depending on the groups it can quickly become noisy. The prices are high for the service… We ordered 2 savory French toasts, don't expect a big surprise, the bread will fill you up more than the rest. We also ordered sweet pancakes which we had to send back to the kitchen because we were eating raw batter. I am very disappointed with this experience.

It honestly doesn't make me happy to post a negative comment, but this time I was really disappointed.. It has nothing to do with the last time I was there. I ordered the eggs Benedict and asked if we could replace the mushrooms with something else, the waitress refused. So 23.- for two thin slices of bread with an egg and a small green salad on the side is not correct (I at least expected them to add a little more avocado or slices a little thicker). In addition, very bad surprise with the bottle of maple syrup which contained insects in it, they brought us another plate of pancakes but made absolutely no action. All with constant pressure from the waitress to clear the table for the next customers. I'm sorry but I won't go back.

Best chai in the world whether cold or hot. The setting is charming.

Disappointment during our group brunch. Forced to leave the table after only 1.5 hours, without notice when we made our reservation, we felt an unpleasant pressure throughout the meal. The quality of the food does not compensate for the lack of hospitality and rigid time management. If you're looking for a place for a relaxing, unhurried brunch, I don't recommend this restaurant. A disappointing customer experience that spoils the friendly atmosphere of a brunch with friends.

What can I say... An undeserved reputation... The French toasts are not soaked enough and as a result when you eat them, it is bread in the middle and not French toast... The pancakes are dry, extra dry and the bacon very well cooked... Ultimately the drinks were mediocre and got cold very very quickly (especially the hot chocolate). Finally the service leaves something to be desired, a lot of waiting, the waiter who starts to take the order and turns around in the middle to take the order from the table behind... In short, I do not recommend this restaurant with its overpriced prices.

The food is okay, nothing more. The tables are collective. It's not a refined place. It's not normal to be asked at Sunday brunch to order desserts with the dishes and leave as quickly as possible. It’s the antithesis of friendliness. I won't come back again.

Magnificent coffee bar. The atmosphere is great. It's very pretty, good decoration. The staff is super nice.

Wonderful place, great atmosphere, staff very nice and patient. At lunch and until 15pm they serve brunch menu but at dinner I think that there’s a different menu which I hope to try soon. Complimenti, ottimo!

Tasty brunch, though limited choice. Seatings are for just 90 minutes, but food arrives quickly. A couple of errors with the orders but rectified quickly, and service was attentive, even though the restaurant was packed.

The whole menu and too expensive tagine pastilla leaves it to the Moroccan specialist. And reserved tables outside have ghosts. Having with customers if they wanted to eat the table is no longer reserved.

I come to this place every week cause I love the atmosphere. Great music on a daily basis. Available wifi connection. The staff is kind and they have plenty of yummy options to choose from. The matcha latte and the chai latte are so delicious although the latter sometimes is too sweet. During the weekend the brunch options are better that during the working days (lunch options). Highly recommended!

16/09/2023. Horrible service! For what I understood a waiter called Alex was totally disrespectful. I arrived at 21:43, empty room inside Pointu and perfect for a drink with more 4xfriends. We waited until 22:12 to be served while both, barman and this Alex were playing, dancing, making jokes and laughing behind the balcony… the most disrespectful thing was this waiter telling us to wait when he looked at us and he continued playing around with Pointu empty of clients to be served, even outside. When finally we were being served, guess what? “Kitchen closes at 22:00, sorry guys!”… a total joke situation! Not the best experience and hope a future higher standard waiter to serve next time, or maybe not.

Laptop prohibited after 6:30 p.m. are we in Versailles? Otherwise the staff are adorable.

The rather average quality does not compensate for the often disastrous service and does not excuse the pretension that emanates from the place. The last time the waiter told me “quiet, we don’t care” when I pointed out to him that he was starting to deal with customers queuing behind me.

Very nice cafe. Were there for breakfast. The employees are friendly. There is a good selection of drinks. However, the breakfast selection is rather limited. There is a sweet version and a salty version of pancakes. They both had the sweetness. It wasn't anything special, but not bad. Price wise also ok. Can definitely recommend a visit for coffee. There are certainly better alternatives for breakfast.

Why, in the middle of a heatwave, offer a carafe of water for 1fr “for the planet” (and paid water in general). Where does the money go? Does Le Pointu also share in its profits?

Superb toasts, a real treat for lunch. The servers are pleasant and smiling. A bit of a wait but worth it. Too bad there is no longer the Avocado Toast 😍, but the others are excellent.

Visited this place in july (summer). Very very hot inside. Wish they have at least ceiling fans or something to circulate the hot air inside. Tried poke which is heavily drenched in ginger sauce (i don't like ginger). Coffee latte is average. French toast is nice. Cheesecake is amazing!!!

Great place any time of the day! From brunch to coffee break to quick lunch, it's always so good and quick. I can only recommend! The terrace in summer is always very pleasant.

Cocktail needs to improve. Cocktail prices is expensive and not that good.

Good experience even if the prices are a little high for what it is. But the dishes are nevertheless very good and the staff pleasant and fast!

The place should be distinguished mainly for its atmosphere. A very relaxed approach to the client makes us feel very at ease there. Small children did not bother us at all, the staff is very helpful and open. Of course, high prices, but that's typical of Switzerland. A place worth visiting for a small lunch and good coffee.

Great place for brunch, the place is packed, it's best to make a reservation. The menu is short and simple, the quantities are generous! The pancakes are to die for! And the French toast for dessert is very delicious. The welcome is very simple, particularly relaxed, which is really pleasant in a brunch spirit. I would come back with pleasure!

Incredible drench toast and the flat white is really good too. The atmosphere is chill but it's quite crowded. So if you consider going there on the weekend in the morning better try to be the first one there

Place discovered during a Sunday brunch with the family. The attendance is rather young, the staff too, “cool” atmosphere. The dishes tasted were all excellent and original! Many kinds of hot teas to choose from or other drinks, such as cocktails with or without alcohol. It's easy to reserve a table online. The only downside is that your time on site is "counted": you have 1h30 to enjoy your brunch and not a minute more, because the reservations come one after the other. The service is fast, but we were still a little "stressed" during our meal, because we had to vacate the table at the agreed time. This is the reason why I only give it 4 stars out of 5.

Loved the place.. coffee was amazing and the desserts were heavenly (apple crumble and chocolate Madeline). It is quite a busy and popular place so to accommodate everyone the seating can be a bit tight. Tables are quite close to each other.

The place is nicely redone. Go there if you are bobo around thirty, there is no social mixing or conviviality. Clients are typed as interchangeable. If you have an early brunch, you have an hour and a half to eat, then you have to give up your seat. If you have an aperitif, there are no appetizers. A few dried fruits, crackers or olives would be welcome but do not correspond to the concept of profitability. Great place in the center of Lausanne. The matcha latte is excellent. The menu is always readjusted according to the seasons and the Chef's desires. The team is lovely, and you can easily book. Well done!

Very friendly welcome, excellent cocktails! Small downside: the thin beef fillet which wouldn't feed a sparrow... I recommend.

One of the big “trendy” places in Lausanne. Great spot for middle-class people with fairly high prices but matching quality. Good cocktails, good food and fairly efficient staff

Le Pointu is a reliably cool spot for flavorful, creative and filling eats and stellar coffees and teas. It’s favorite of ours. Today, one of the servers - who doubles as the mâitre d’ - kindly seated us at the bar to allow us to linger for more than the 30 minutes we would have been accorded otherwise - because of the number of reserved tables at 11:30 am. What ensued made us even bigger fans of this gem of a place. We learned the backstory of the friends who opened the place. Now we know that the warmth and character we sense every time we visit is rooted in its origins.

Didier Volontier, for Saturday meal at home. Attic be careful huh. little chilly kiss, Coat recommended, little ghost of my wife. Do you know why horses love lice? A question without answer. Always a nice place to have a coffee in the morning. The servers are super cool and relaxed. I also often go there to eat at lunchtime or have an aperitif at the end of the day with good beers from the region. A very good place that I recommend

Some expectations after all these amazing reviews. Maybe it’s better to go in the morning (for the brunch) instead of in the evening for a drink and food?! The cocktail was so small for 15 CHF! And not so tasty. And food was good, a bit small but ok. Perhaps I’ll try to come once in the morning to try the breakfast. Otherwise I won’t come back.

Nice to enjoy a nice platter from the neighbouring region. All local and delicious. Highly recommend to book a table, since it is very crowded on all days.

Here, you basically pay for the decoration of the place, which is really pretty but very poorly soundproofed. First downside: at reception they didn't have our reservation... then 5 minutes later in fact yes we did... It's off to a good start. The dishes were good but nothing more. Additionally, if you order certain savory dishes they arrive with side dishes, others do not. Card quite uneven and expensive for what it is. The big downsides were the waiting time and the coordination of the service. The first time we had to ask for services twice because there was none on the table, the second time we went there, we had to ask for salt and pepper. 15min for 3 drinks and we were almost finished by the time the dishes arrived. Avoid homemade cold tea, it was more like flavored water than a real brewed and cooled drink. The next table also had problems and showed their displeasure. Personally, I won't go back there again.

It seems very difficult to have smiling waiters in Lausanne. But that’s not the Pointu’s problem in any case. Always the most pleasant service, and at lunchtime, I love their “toasts” :)

Waiting time unfortunately too long, whether for reception, cards or even the arrival of orders, and a bad-tempered boss who looks for any excuse to justify a bad experience. I, who had heard a lot of good things about Le Pointu, unfortunately would never set foot there again. On the other hand, for those interested who don't care about the service, the food is quite good.

Pleasant service but a little long, generous plates and good food. However, I had the misfortune of finding a huge caterpillar in my salad which took away my appetite. After complaint the meal was not even offered to us and after negotiation only the drink was offered to us. Too bad, we won't be going back.

This place is one of my most favorite places in Lausanne. They offer good food, polite friendly and flexible service to their customers. The place has a nice vibe and the food presentation and plates are nice. Ingredients are fresh while food is not overpriced, what else can you expect from a dining place? I hope they keep up their good work 🙂 A must try place in Lausanne for both food and drinks. I just at times wished they could offer alternative menus during different days of week to expand the variety of dishes that are offered.. I have passed this place for brunch… it’s quite expensive for having brunch their and the menu is not as interesting as when you go there in the evening

Sunday brunches are not for pregnant women...! The menu only offers dishes with fried egg or salmon and it's impossible to have a scrambled egg instead... not very accommodating!
