Super delicious sushi, served in different flavor combinations! Fresh fish and very well prepared rice - just as it should be. The way the sushi and dishes are served resembles small pieces of art. The Kai Sushi Restaurant is not one of the largest restaurants and is often crowded. In summer, however, the restaurant has a few tables outside, so you can get a table without a reservation. The service is very friendly and the dishes are served relatively quickly. I recommend Kai Sushi for both lunch and dinner. I will definitely visit it again.

Good selection, unique dishes! Definitely make a reservation. Highly suggest the assorted tempura 👍🏼 in the summer they have outdoor seating ☀️ we spent around 50 CHF per person including soft drinks to give you a gauge for price.

Yum! Had a speedy weekend dinner, as they were fully booked and we managed to beg our way in for a table for 1hr pre-bookings, with the promise of being fast and efficient. Sushi was ordered and happily chomped on by three tired, rained-on, cold millennials, who emerged from the place well fed, reenergised and with renewed faith in humanity. Staff very nice, prices in line with expectations for ZRH, taste 10/10. Dunno what else to tell you, go see for yourself.

I picked up salmon sashimi for lunch today. The quality was disappointing. I get better quality at Migros Wollerau. It's a shame, that's no longer an option for me.

We stumbled upon this absolute gem whilst passing through Zurich this evening. Having used to live near here, I was not sure whether it would be good as I had many bad meals and experiences with bad service in Zurich. This place was not the same, and was absolutely brilliant in all departments. The friendly guys cooking and making the immensely tasty food were all happy to see us come, and gave us a warm goodbye. The waitress was super nice and her service was incredible. We loved the food and will for sure swing by if we are even passing on the motorway! Lovely!

Very hip yet comfy Japanese restaurant. But don't let the name fool you, there's a lot more to Kai than sushi. I think the Chef's Suggestion 3 is an amazing value. Priced at chf92 for two people, you get a very generous 4 course menu. You can start with either edamame or miso soup. Then comes a generous portion of Asian slaw, excellent ceviche, and tuna shasimi. Your next course is a pulled salmon bao bun. And last but not least a sliced ribeye steak with a perfectly balanced shitake mushroom sauce. For chf46 per person, it is the most delicious bargain in town. Oh yes, and the service is excellent. I will be back again and again.

As always, very good food. Super friendly staff, the music was a bit too loud for us and some autumn pumpkin special would be nice. (We are often with you)

We were at Kai Sushi in Zurich (Restaurant am Schiffbau) on October 7th, 2023 and had an excellent sushi evening. When we came to the restaurant we were greeted in a very friendly manner and were given hot water on the cloth so that we could freshen our hands a little. The service was very attentive, quick and friendly. The drink order was there after 3 minutes, the starter (miso soup) was at the table after 5 minutes and the sushi platter we ordered was prepared within 10 minutes. The miso soup and the sushi platter were very tasty and visually excellent. In addition to the classics that are available everywhere (California roll etc.), there are also unusual sushi creations such as vegetarian green sushi and warm tempura sushi with sweet potatoes etc. to bring in new tastes. The menu is visually very well designed and you can immediately see what the sushi looks like because every dish was professionally photographed. I don't know what the other restaurants in Kai are like, but I can fully recommend the Restaurant am Schiffbau.

The quality is high but so are the prices :) I rarely go out for sushi, but this exceeded all expectations. The order came quickly and fresh. A reservation is recommended as it is busy, even during the week. You can easily reserve a table on the website…

Wonderful sushi! Also loved the steak actually. Very flavorful and special with the peanuts. It’s tough to choose because all dishes look great, it’s good for sharing! They also have running sushi which I haven’t tried yet.

Nice lunch menues and sushi, good spot for a quick lunch, however, the place gets crowded very quickly and the distance in between the tables is tiny, hence, not really inviting for a private conversation.

It has been whole since I’ve been to Kai and it’s still as delicious as ever. More new items on the menu. You can’t really go wrong with Kai. The ingredients are fresh the food are tasty, the staff are nice.

Delicious sushi in a small but trendy restaurant. Gets packed quickly so you may need to reserve. Sushi are creative, fresh and really tasty with a number of innovative variations to choose from. This has a steep cost however and while I think this is a great place when it comes to the food, your wallet will definitely feel the pinch.

For me one of the top addresses in Zurich for sushi with their creations. The Vulcano Rolls are always delicious. The service could be more accommodating. The drinks were empty and no one came to reorder. The atmosphere, how should I put it, is very narrow and geared towards mass processing. The noise level doesn't exactly make you feel comfortable

Very friendly wait staff. The sushi was very tasty my favorite was the sweet potato roll highly recommend! The hibiscus ice tea was very complimentary.

Unfortunately, not recommendable for anyone who loves good-quality sushi. The tuna sashimi was not fresh at all, texture and taste were off and you could even tell by the look. The beef gyozas are priced at CHF 4.50 per piece, yet had been frozen and were not freshly made on-site. Of course we let the staff know and they immediately saw the tuna was off and replaced it, although it should never have left tha kitchen like this. The team handled everything very well and were very nice and friendly.

Great experience. Very friendly and helpfull personal. Excellent choice for people who don’t eat Sushi. Yes it’s expensive but all restaurants are expensive in Zurich. 🤙🏾

Good food, nice staff - sushi tastes very good & fresh. I sat at the sushi bar with my girlfriend and the atmosphere was good. The cocktails were also very good tip: Vodka Sour with Japanese Vodka.

This is the third time I've been disappointed - the last time was yesterday. I had ordered a vegan Tamtamen soup that was simply tasteless and carelessly prepared. The soup was more like a simple miso soup. For the price - over lunch of 28 CHF - this is simply a no-go. The portion is also relatively small - although you will still be hungry. There are much better restaurants with a better price-performance ratio. In addition, the quality and taste are also good. I've mostly had good sushi here.

Rarely get such good sushi. The decor is great, the service was great, even with a full store. What was ordered was delivered very quickly. What I can personally recommend are the cocktails, it was a great evening there. Come back

We were here for the first time and loved it! The reception and the whole team were very friendly and attentive. Big compliments to the kitchen! It is very a very high quality and I have never eaten such good sushi. We would love to come back!🙋😊

In my opinion, super delicious food. It's slightly darkened, which I really like. Some small tables for the big plates during a menu.

The staff was very kind and friendly. The ambience inside is nice, relaxed and somewhat luxurious. The prices are a bit higher than average in the area. The food we had was ok. My partner didn’t like the sushi, said that the crab was to pasty. And that the miso soup was too salty. The jasmine tea and the plum wine were both great. We also ordered a desert – the chocolate cake. The desert was not that balanced. The pistachio ice cream was the best of all the components. Very smooth and not too sweet ice cream. There was hardened caramel with slices of nuts on the cake. It was sticking to my teeth, but the taste was quite good. The cake was basically a very very thick and smooth dark chocolate mousse. The texture was really nice and rich, but for me personally it was way to bitter. I left half of the cake. The cake was shaped like a donut and in the middle, there was more liquid caramel. We let the waitress know about our opinion on the food we had and she was very professional about it. Would come here again, to try some other dishes they offer.

Normally I have good sushi at the restaurant so I expected the delivery to be decent but the sushi giftbox looks like they just put the old stale stuff that didn't sell. At there prices they need to do much better. Would def not recommend delivery.

Sushi 🍣 simply the best!!! I was in the restaurant there and it was extremely good 👍 with a few of our own creations like the beef sushi I think it's the best sushi restaurant there is. Very nice service and comes quickly that gives it a safe 5 stars ⭐️ the dessert was just so good ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the best gyoza I have ever had! Sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. A very nice selection offered, as well. Food came out quite quickly. The chair was not that great. Get the sweet potato chips!

Unfortunately, the Tuna Bowl wasn't to our taste at all with lots of toppings, a chicken egg and fish eggs, which unfortunately ruined the Tuna, the rice was just bland, the miso soup was good and the jasmine tea was also nice, but I'd rather go somewhere else next time.

Always very tasty. The waitress with brown hair and glasses does the best job of the service team ;) The other waiters just keep chattering loudly to the chefs, which is a bit annoying as a guest.

Unfortunately disappointing, the food is very bland and the price/performance does not meet expectations. Everything is fresh but unfortunately the dishes lack the sophistication to come back. There are better and cheaper restaurants with Asian dishes. Staff is polite and efficient.

The food was again very good. Unfortunately, the service was not so satisfactory on the last visit. First we received the starter and main course together, which was a bit difficult on the small table. After that, our waiter was somehow no longer there and the other waiters walked past us several times even though we were always looking and wanted to order something. After some time of being ignored, we had to get in touch so we could order something else. I find that a little disappointing for the price. Everything was wonderful on our first visit.

Kai Sushi is located near the Hardbrücke. Nice menu with unusual sushi such as Raclette cheese. The tuna tataki was great. Friendly and attentive service. Outdoor seating available. Relatively small portions and some expensive, such as 4 pieces of California roll for just under 15 francs. We paid 110 francs for 2 people. Recommended.

I've been to several Kai Sushi in town and they're usually very friendly and their food is always so fresh. But this one in particular is even nicer! The cooks and the staff are extra friendly, I love this place's vibe. I come back almost weekly!

Came to Zurich for business and was craving sushi. I’m usually a bit skeptical on Japanese food in cities with a smaller Asian population. I have to admit all the food at Kai Sushi was pretty good. Is it the same as Tokyo? No but few places are. Overall the sashimi tasted fresh, the tempura was crispy and light and all the other food was very tasty. Their wasn’t anything that was disappointing.

I've been out with my friends and had some delicious dinner at Kai Sushi in Zurich. The restaurant is not very big but it is nicely furbished. The staff is very kind and quite speedy. After having some yummy surprise cocktail drink we have had our dinner platters. It was really delicious. The money for value is okay, a bit expensive but that's fine. What I liked was that the staff speaks English, too. If you wanna dine in at this place make sure you reserve a table beforehand.

The warm food was cold. Everything tasted below average and the portions were so small that everyone was still hungry. 28fr. for some boring rice and mushrooms that couldn’t feed a mouse. Soo disappointing. Will NEVER order here again

If you love sushi and want to try something new, this is the right place for you. The restaurant is stylish, the staff is hip and fit and, above all, the dishes are a real delight. In terms of price, you should go there to enjoy yourself, not to satisfy your hunger. Then go to Più around the corner.
