Karls Kraut in Luzern

Portions were small. Quality & taste of the food was ok. It would’ve been nice to see the menu online since there were literally three dishes to choose from in the main course whereas we saw the different food pictures online and thought we could have the same. Service and atmosphere was good but we went for the food which disappointed us.

Restaurant with a great atmosphere and very good, very friendly and fast service. We came on Friday evening without a reservation and were probably lucky to get a table - reservations are recommended. The food was very nicely prepared and tasted good, but I would have liked more spices.

Brunch formula at 45chf with a hot vegetable milk drink, 2 dishes of your choice, which actually look like starters given the size of the portion but tasty. Not a lot of vegetables, however, for a vegan restaurant... You can help yourself to bread and jam/hazelnut paste with margarine, 2 different sweet desserts with a very good lemon mousse, 2 kinds of juice/smoothie and savory condiments (soy and herb spread, a type of hummus and carrot and beetroot pickles) to wait. We ate enough, tasting everything with bread even though it actually seemed really expensive for what was offered, especially since it was vegan. Apart from a few pomegranate seeds, the poached pear and the plum juice, we didn't see a single fruit... Fast service with explanations in French and good location by the water.

A charming restaurant in the old town, right on the water; The large windows allow a view outside (there is also outside seating). The restaurant is attractive and beautifully decorated, the lighting is pleasant, the atmosphere is very good, you immediately feel at home! Although the place was well attended, it was acoustically pleasantly quiet (no disturbing music either). The waitresses were all very nice and attentive. The menu is pleasantly small, but there is still enough choice. The meal was excellent; The various components are well balanced, with intense aromas and excellent bread is also served. The price performance ratio is very good; All in all a wonderful evening, not the first nor the last time!

The food was ok in terms of price-performance, but could have been combined a little more harmoniously. Still 4-4.5/5 stars for me. Wine list unfortunately 0-1/5 stars. 3 white wines, 1 rosé, 1 sparkling wine + 4 red wines. Rarely have I seen such a (desperately) sad wine list, except at the kebab around the corner. ;-) It's a shame, good food urgently requires an appropriate wine list. Conclusion: I'll be back, but I'll bring my own wine(s). ;-) (Wine) culinary greetings, the connoisseur

We really enjoyed the food. Although almost full it was a very calm atmosphere. We really liked it, the price and portions were also absolutely ok. We can recommend the restaurant.

Cozy restaurant with very fine food. The vegi burger is really very tasty, and for dessert I can recommend the chocolate mousse with chilli with a good spiciness. Were there on Saturday evening and the restaurant was very busy. reservation recommended.

Karls Kraut is the best vegan restaurant I've had the pleasure of dining at. Their delicious desserts are a real treat! I chose this spot to celebrate my mom's birthday, and it made for a lovely and memorable experience.

Some people can say whatever they want about vegan food. But I have to honestly admit that if a meatless dish is prepared with a certain imagination and sense of taste, nothing is missing. I'm also willing to pay a little more for it. The waitress also set up a parasol for us upon request.

We were lucky to get as we didn’t have a reservation but was offered a lovely seat outside over looking the river.. A fully vegan restaurant offering delicious food, the menu offered 4 starters 3 Main courses and 4 desserts.. the quality of the food was outstanding. Well worth the money. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

This place is a little gem in Luzern ! We ate on the "terrasse" by the Riverside. The food was delicious with very interesting flavors and textures, even a classic as a curry was very original and a great discovery for my taste buds. Desserts are on point, so is service, I highly recommend that place to anyone, plant based or not it's worth a try !

Wonderful.. 🥰🥰 it was very tasty. The atmosphere was also just wonderful on the river and the staff were all very accommodating. We discovered the inner courtyard, which is absolutely recommended. The inner courtyard is nice and cool and also has a somewhat romantic touch. We would love to come back, thank you very much for the evening. 💖☀️

This is a wonderful little pub located on the water. We didn't try the food, but the local draft beer is excellent!! The young lady tending bar was delightful.

Very nice place. Not in the very center of the city but directly at the Reuss river. Felt like coming home. We had a lovely evening with an excellent vegan meal and friendly waiters. Will definitely come back when we are in Lucerne again.

Divine I don't know the last time I ate so tastefully in a restaurant. All ingredients intensive and perfectly matched. The drinks are also very tasty. I'd love to come back soon.

The kitchen is very good, but one waitress leaves the whole thing in the shadows with her unfriendly manner. When we arrived at 11:10, we were told that they didn't open until 11:30, but we could take a seat. We already noticed that here She doesn't actually like it. When we asked if we could drink something, the answer was a clear no. At 11:35 sharp someone came to ask if we would like something to drink. Well, we probably had some water and a coffee beforehand, so for about 20 CHF, if you don't seem to need it, you can afford it and, above all, afford it. It's a shame that the presence of guests is so little appreciated.

I was here today for the first time and absolutely loved it! The interior is stunning yet simple with delicious vegan food and friendly service. Can’t wait to get back here.

If you’re looking for a fancy vegan restaurant for a date in Switzerland, Karl’s Kraut is probably your best option. Located just outside of Luzern’s old town (Switzerland’s most touristy city), Karl’s Kraut offers organic and locally sourced vegan dishes in a warm and intimate setting. We had the starter: Karl's Apéro-Plättli 15.50.- (vegetable sticks served with a homemade dip, roasted caramelised herb nuts, vegetable crisps & various topped crostinis), followed by Polenta Balls 29.00.-(Polenta balls with roasted coconut Szechuan vegetables, red cabbage, pak choi, carrots & edamame topped with a yuzu mayonnaise, sesame coral and coriander oil), and a Burger with sliced baked potato 28.00.- (smoked tempeh burger breaded with cornflakes, tartar sauce, fresh red cabbage, iceberg lettuce & pickled red onions served with spicy oven potato slices) and finally we shared a dessert plate, Karls Dessert Surprise 14.50.- (variation of small sweet treats).

I came by on Friday at 10:15 p.m. (opening hours until 11 p.m. so still open for 45 minutes) They can't offer anything more (not even drinks) because the checkout has already been made, while there are at least 10-15 people in the restaurant & after I asked, they haven't paid yet. It's a shame to brush off customers when you don't feel like working!

Worst service I’ve experienced. Tables were left with dirty dishes for over 20 minutes. Staff was more interested in talking amongst themselves than serving their patrons.

One of the best vegetarian restaurants. We ordered for 30 people at home and it was very nice. The lunch menu is great. The restaurant is located on the banks of the Reus and in summer there is wonderful sunshine.

Delicious vegetarian health food. All meals come with soup or salad and have a reasonable portion for price. Make a reservation for the weekend because it is popular. Neat women's restroom, there is a old well covered with glass in floor!

I would definitely classify Karl’s Kraut as a fine dining experience. First of all it is situated by the river and illuminated with warm candlelight which gives it an atmosphere like you’re on a romantic date in Paris. The menu is varied enough to be interesting but succinct with only a few options for each course. We ordered the starter of vegetable sticks, dip and bread and I was blown away by the freshness of the ingredients and creativity of making veggie sticks and dip into a restaurant quality experience. For our mains, we got the bread dumplings and the portobello mushroom dish. Both of which were so unique and delicious that I was pretty blown away. Love the use of fresh plant ingredients to make unique, healthy dishes as opposed to using faux meats. Also, there is a glass floor in the toilet that you can look through and see a long drop into a well! If I have the money I’d love to come back in future.

We went here for dinner with friends. But will never go again. No alternative for normal eaters to not get meat. In other normal restaurants there is always a vegetarian alternative.

The food, ambience and everything was simply excellent. This vegan place puts their heart into the dishes and the way the place is done up. They also have a good choice of wines. Their food menu isnt huge but that is exactly great anout their menu, everything is yum and details are thought out to the t.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Lucerne - great for vegans and omnivores. Certainly cheaper at lunchtime than in the evening, but it's also worth stopping by in the evening :)

Beautiful location with fine food. One of the only vegan options in the city of Lucerne's restaurant scene. However, the prices are rather high. Although the burger is tasty, you pay extra for the vegan cheese and the side dishes are a bit sparse. The ambience and location are convincing, especially if you can find space outside in summer.

It is located directly at the lake/ river, it has a beautiful decor and lovely food. It's a vegan restaurant and they try to use local grocers and organic vegetables and fruits. The waters are all very nice, although most of them are too hipster for my taste, nevertheless its a good place.

The best restaurant for vegans anywhere. It certainly wasn't the last time I was there.

Not really fresh food. Feels like a lot of things were premade a long time ago. Cacao with oat milk is not the best, better choose almond. The place didn't have enough hangers for clothes and the staff didn't really react. So we had to put our coats just "somewhere".

This is a nice vegan restaurant. Big Green Salad has everything from leafy greens, bean sprouts and few other things. Golden Milk Latte and Risotto are very tasty. Definitely a good choice for vegans.

Always the same lunch menu for 3 months....a little strange no...and the salad without creativity and the dish with rice had almost no vegetables......you had to look for the eggplant and the sweet potato....too bad The vegan cuisine is nevertheless creative, I won't go back there
