Le Relais de l'Entrecôte in Genève

A regular and successful menu.... Lettuce salad to start, fat-free entrecote steak, with a secret sauce accompanied by thin chips. All that remains is to choose the degree of doneness... the steak was very tasty, made to the requested degree... you get a refill.... at the end a delicious profiterol dessert. You can't make a reservation... you just stand in line... but it's worth it.

Simple and delicious. Only one choice to make "how do you want your meat cooked? [Rare, medium, well done]. It's served in two separate servings ("refill" style).. I'm assuming it's so that the second part doesn't cool down while you eat the first half 😊 simply wonderful!

Food not quite to the usual standard; the steak and sauce were missing something, but the frites and profiteroles were as good as ever.

You can never go wrong with this place! The quality of the food is amazing and the waitresses are always so lovely.

Very good restaurant. The meat was very good, it’s just a shame that the quantities weren’t huge. I was extremely impressed with Rahula's service. Not only was she courteous and attentive, but her passion for her work was palpable. She demonstrated remarkable professionalism and made our experience truly enjoyable. I highly recommend his service to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. Notice for the other two waitresses: Unfortunately, the dining experience was marred by two other waitresses' disparaging comments about their colleague. Their lack of support and empathy towards her was disappointing. Instead of criticizing, they could have chosen to encourage and guide their colleague to help them improve. Their attitude was unprofessional and negatively affected our experience in the restaurant. Especially since we were opposite the bar and we could hear everything.

Entercôte is a place I’d recommend if you’re visiting Geneva. I’ve hear from friends that it’s better than the one in Paris, though more expensive. If you’re visiting on a weekend or holiday, expect waiting for about 30 min. The food obviously deserves the wait. They start you off with a salad and some bread. I didn’t like the bread as it was chewy, but the salad had an amazing sauce. Coming on to the real deal the steak has a really nice pesto like sauce, but they put so little of the steak and so much fries that you have to wait for a long time to get a second round and the fries are perfect too. I finished with a crème brûlée and let me say this, it’s been a while since I had one this good. I took one star off solely for the price, but I’d definitely try it again.

One of my favourite restaurants in Geneva. The steak and fries are generously served twice with a delicious sauce, which has remained unchanged over the years in this French bistro-style restaurant.

Good but personally I think that the quality of the meat does not justify the endless queue to sit at the table. The place does not accept reservations, we arrived at 7.30pm and sat down at the table at 9pm. The service is fast but it is a fixed menu (meat and fried potatoes) and the only thing you can choose is how the meat is cooked. The meat was okay but personally I wouldn't go back.

In fact very simple: choice of cooking the entrecôte and wine? Red or white. Practical and good, friendly service.

Entrecote is a well-known restaurant characterized by an old, classic French style that serves a very special meal consisting of... French bread with butter🥖 Then they offer you a green salad plate with lettuce and a special sauce, then a plate of entrecote steak slices and french fries, in addition to the special sauce that distinguishes it from all other restaurants. Their service is excellent. I entered directly without reservation and without waiting. There are indoor and outdoor sessions

Excellent and fast food, friendly and professional service, delicious desserts. The only flaw is that the tables are too close together and people queue outside the place waiting for a table to become free. Highly recommended anyway.

Food is good. However when we asked the waitress for a napkin she took out her personal tissues and put them on the table. Later when we told her it was unprofessional and her response was that they usually don’t give out napkins. Later she had an attitude against us. They should get professional waitresses.

So happy we finally were able to try this place after missing out in Paris! There was a short line when we queued at 6:45 pm, but were promptly seated once they opened at 7. The server was attentive and kind. The steak and sauce deserves all the praise it gets. Happy to come back!

The BEST steak in Geneva for CHF45 (you get two servings of steak) that comes with a salad. If you want the first service make sure you start queuing up at 6:40pm. There is always a very long queue!

I really like the food steak but i am very very disappointed this is the 2nd time i come to the restaurant and the waiter thinks always i have 2nd or many persons with me which always i come alone and she ask everyone who many persons except me and people who’s behind me are two persons this is very bad experience always that i have the staff really very good and there is one woty blue eyes shes new i think so very positive

Good welcome, good service. Extreme proximity of tables, little privacy!!! As for the meat, almost inedible..., sauce which separates from the butter, mediocre salad, fortunately there were nuts, fries of some sort. In short, I advise against it, without taking into account the price-quality ratio, at Fr 45.-- the dish, without comment....

Excellent entrecôte with French fries. The staff is very friendly. Typical french bistro. Every time I visit Geneva, Le relais never disappoints me.

What a desappointment. Deplorable service, disappointing food. Recommended dishes? None, tap water payable, Geneva wines absent from the menu (even though we are in Geneva). Hefty bill. I won't set foot there again, nor will I for that matter!

An institution before or after the walk by the lake and in the shopping streets. So left bank.

Waited 25 minutes for a table of three with my co-workers on a Monday night. It was totally worth it. An experience like none other considering you don't even have to look at a menu to order at this restaurant. Unique dish for sure that I know I'll never have anywhere else. I got a negroni with a main dish and it was a perfect pairing. The dessert looked delicious but I didn't have it in me to try. Thanks for the staff, especially the woman at the door who was so polite while we waited.

I ordered a well done steak, they got me a burnt one (literally black), the waiter asked me if I wanted to change it I said yes, then the “boss” Eva is her name, refused to change it and told me in a VERY rude tone “You asked for well done, this is well done and we can’t change for you”. It’s a shame to let someone this rude to be a “boss” in a well known restaurant like this.

Very disappointed with this lunch. When you wait in line for 1 hour, it should be exceptional. Disappointing.

Fortunately Ambre was there to make us appreciate this moment. Otherwise, the dishes arrive too quickly (we didn't have time to have the aperitif, the starter is already arriving, and we haven't touched it until the dish is already there!!!) Qualitatively it's okay for what it is, but a little expensive all the same. We would have appreciated a (small) choice in the formula (a fish)

Very good restaurant but the service leaves something to be desired. I asked for rare cooking and my second course came just right. The waitress didn't want to change my piece. I will not come back.

Long wait 😁 but worth it. Single dish. Excellent meat, excellent fries. A la carte desserts also very good. We had a great time.

We have always appreciated the exceptional quality of the meat you serve, a point in which your restaurant continues to excel. However, on our last visit we were disappointed with several aspects of the service. We noticed that the tables were excessively close together, which significantly reduced our comfort and privacy. Additionally, we found some of the staff to be less welcoming than in the past, and our waitress didn't seem to be able to answer a simple question about the wines, which was surprising for an establishment of your reputation. The general atmosphere gave us the impression that the main objective was to serve the dishes quickly and clear the tables to welcome new customers. This approach unfortunately detracted from the overall dining experience. We understand that running a popular restaurant like yours can present challenges, especially in terms of customer flow. However, we believe that a balance must be found to maintain the quality of service that complements your excellent cuisine. We ate here years ago and it’s still a very nice place to come. You will need a reservation as there is a long line.

Located on the shopping street it only offers a menu (this is its typicality) a piece of well-done fillet on a green sauce and french fries…. They arrive with an encore without asking so you can always enjoy it hot, a little narrow, the tables are always in line... prices a little above average for the quantity of food served BUT GOOD AND TO TRY AT LEAST ONCE

Fab food, amazing service, cooked to perfection

A grand time out, like other locations of this stalwart, though we chose lunch to avoid waiting forever in a line by arriving just before noon (people queued rather lengthily around 1pm). Beautiful steak, tasty frites, lovely salad dressing. Understaffed, perhaps, which meant waiting a bit long for the second set of steak and frites, and catching their eye for the bill. But 45CHF for a satisfying, delicious meal, and reasonable house red bottle prices, we relaxed and enjoyed the bustle.

Super pleasant service and good is awesome. Highly recommend to check it out if you love steak !

It seems that the other branches, from my experience in Riyadh, taste better than this branch, especially the potatoes and salad The meat is pretty good, but there is something better. The service, staff, and decor were frankly amazing

Iconic restaurant for Geneva meat lovers, super friendly and ideal for groups. Just one dish and you just choose how the meat is cooked. Remember to come early, queue guaranteed and difficult to book. The green salad with walnuts has no flavor to my taste and we expect more nuts. The sauce was creamy and coated well on the meat, but without making you want to taste it again. Note that the rare one for them is blue and the blue is uh almost a tartar 😆

Frankly very bad… we had dinner in small group. I was really surprised given the popularity of the restaurant (not taking reservation). The service was not good, food was cold, salad is really basic, meat was not cooked as asked by some, the selection of 2 beers are really the worst (we could have expected some good local beer from Geneva as exemple), all is done to push you out as soon as possible (waiter asking if they can serve the dinner every 5 minutes) and finally the sauce was a big disappointment (I expect much much more ). It is more an industry than a nice cozy restaurant … and finally there are much better restaurant of the kind I Geneva. I really fail to understand the popularity …

Charges you extra for there sauce they don’t accommodate cooking meat either medium or rare no in between. Best part of you want to take your leftovers home they only can do steak no fries and for a upscale French restaurant they give it to you in a foil

Very disappointed by the service, I had asked before ordering that the drinks be separated from the meal and when it was time to pay I only had a ticket that could not be changed (supposedly)

Deplorable service, the entrecôte served after waiting more than 30 minutes was overheated and burnt.....this spoiled a good meat and what could have been an endearing family dinner.

After 4 times here, today we got worst service ever. We’ve been literally abandoned by the waiter taking more than 30 min between first And second dish of steak With fries. We are really disappointed. Unfortunately we will not come back.

All is excelent, delicious steak, great fries, fresh salad. Love the ambiance of the interior, love the service from the waitresses. A have to try food in Zurich.

Live queue, quick service, tender steak, decent wine

I will never set foot there again. Fortunately the waitresses are there to make us forget the horrible welcome we had. The manager didn't want to wait more than "5 minutes, because I want full tables" for our friends who were late. This unpleasant lady was there more to spy on her team than to be friendly with the customers. Besides, I'm still waiting for her to say goodbye. Also note that a carafe of tap water of around 3dL will cost you 2.50…. All this to say that I will not go back, and that I wish all the courage in the world to the team of waitresses, who have to deal with this lady (bitter, rude, and having no professionalism) throughout the service .

Wish I read the google reviews before I went to know what to expect. The staff were friendly in explaining that there is only one thing on the menu - meat and chips and you get to pick how you want your meat done. You get two servings. The sauce is out of this world good, the wine is overpriced and it’s not a place I would visit every day as it’s fairly pricey. Came highly recommended by a local and it didn’t disappoint. They don’t take reservations but have plenty of seats despite being very busy. If you are in town try it.

A great unique experience with amazing food and a simple single choice entrée for the steak & frites lovers. Never missed this restaurant anytime you visit Geneva. Don’t forget to order the Profiteroles.

Tap water (carafe d'eau) now costs 2.50 CHF, even if you order wine. The desserts are smaller than what they used to be. Also, the restaurant does not accept American Express. I imagine that they simply cannot afford to take the 0.1% hit in fees after charging you 2.50 CHF for literal tap water. Remember that you eat on paper tablecloth and have quick, raw service with 1 item in the menu. This originally is supposed to be a type of popular, quick, cheap-ish French bistrot. Of course I cannot expect to pay the same as in France, given the salaries and cost of meat in Geneva are higher. But there is a limit to how much you can mock your customers. The prices have gone so much high up that it is now priced the same as actual, full-menu, proper-serviced, French restaurants in Geneva. And then they don't take Amex as if they were a struggling food parlor in a street market? Clowns. The fault is of the people that keep eating here (including myself) - as long as there is a queue outside, they should probably charge people 10 CHF for carafe d'eau. If you are willing to spend 70 CHF for some soggy fries, a few pieces of meat and tap water, you are the one to blame. Personally, I will not visit this place any longer since it's become a joke.

Unique menu: entrecote fries and its legendary sauce. Good, simple, effective, a sure value. Very good desserts too. For a friendly moment.

After waiting an hour When the waitress was asked if the meat was halal, she said, “No, it is not halal.” It is not suitable for Muslims

We were queuing in the street, in the rain and entered the sort of restaurant entrance for shelter. We were “welcomed” by a waitress as if we were sheep. She wasn’t happy because we were blocking clients who wanted to leave the restaurant because there is only one entrance and exit. Then, to our surprise, the tap water is now charged CHF 2.50 and this, despite us ordering wine. We were regulars to this restaurant and are very disappointed by the treatment and charge for TAP water. This should be forbidden by gastro Swiss

My visit to this restaurant was nothing short of a nightmare. We patiently waited for half an hour, desperately trying to catch a server's attention, but it felt as if we were invisible. To add insult to injury, diners who arrived after us were happily enjoying their meals while we were left unattended. The lack of service and indifference to our presence was utterly disappointing.

I had a truly disappointing experience at this restaurant. Despite waiting for half an hour, nobody bothered to serve us. We repeatedly tried to get the attention of a server, but they acted as if we didn't exist. To make matters worse, everyone who arrived after us had their food served promptly. It was an incredibly frustrating and neglectful dining experience.

My husband had already taken me to France and we were encouraged to try this one in Geneva from the same chain. As always, very good, fast and good, but very high in price, more than 60 euros per person seems like a lot to me compared to those in France.

Good food but the meat is not at all consistent, great on some rare occasions and hard to chew otherwise. Certainly expensive for what you get. We asked for a doggy bag because my daughter couldn’t finish her second serving and they refused. Bizarre, especially that we paid for it.

Honestly disappointed to give it 2 stars. Usually I am a big lover of this restaurant worldwide but in Geneva i was surprised to find a piece of fries in between my salad. What was even worse is when i showed it to the waitress she gave no reaction, and just said (this is normal we fry fries in the kitchen) this is a reflection of the low level of cleanliness. Careless staff.

Have a snack before going as you wait to enter and then wait to get the main course. The steak was good and the sauce was great. The service was excellent with a large number of customers.
