Lily's in Basel

Delicious food. It takes forever for the order to arrive. Waited 30 minutes for the drinks. Almost 1 hour for the food.

The food was very tasty and the portion size was ok. The opening times with hot food all the time are great. The atmosphere is relaxed.

For a first in Switzerland, I honestly really enjoyed the pad thai and the ginger beer, thanks again

The worst Tom Yam in my life! It was so sour- i could drink pure lime juice instead. Tastes the same. The duck was really dry and tasteless. Total disappointment…

Somehow you seem to like it or not. I've been there twice now. I like it very much. Varied menu, original drinks, some of which I didn't know before, service was quite quick, despite both being full house, once even very accommodating because I was short on time for a lecture in the Volkshaus. I think the prices are reasonable for Swiss standards, even if the portions might be marginally larger. Hectic operations during peak hours. You go here to eat something original in a useful amount of time, not to block the table for hours with a drink.

Top restaurant with very good Asian food. Very well prepared, many of the products they use are organic and the drink selection is great! The service is great. The benches are a little uncomfortable, but you can look past that. It's worth passing by!

Ordered via Velogourmet. Good, but unfortunately (far too) expensive.

The food was not nice there today. Burned pork belly. It was like chewing cinders from a fire. The green curry was also bad. A really weird taste off it. Standards have gone down. Will go elsewhere in future

When you no longer want something traditional, it is a good place to try other dishes.

The restaurant is very stylish and also simple. It's right on Clara Platz and you also have a nice view from the windows. The food is very good. I always order the Chicken Fride Rice and the Tom ka Gai Soup. I like this soup best in this restaurant and I have had it in several. The only negative thing is that it's a little too loud sometimes. The homemade iced tea is very good.

It was set outside, me and my wife sat outside and were ignored for more than 10 minutes. I think it's a disgrace! Then you shouldn't cover outside or let us know if service is only taking place inside. Not recommendable

Service impersonal to uninterested, the food was only there very quickly when asked, partly because of the many food delivery people who were served. porkbelly was dry, naan bread was hard, salmon was quite good, but very little, everything was served lukewarm to cold :-(

When I traveled to Basel, I found Lily's. I ordered some food and I think the food was delicious. I ordered Kothao Nudle Soup and like Bakso in Indonesia. I am very satisfied and all the employees were very friendly

With so many Asian options in town, this is my least favourite one. I don't like to criticise but the food has not much flavour and not authentic at all. Nice location and terrace if it's what you are looking for.

Nice atmosphere and broad menu. Food was good and prepare with care. Portions could be larger though. After eating, we had the impression that we could start all over again.

Seems to have gotten better. We hope that lasts.

Dead to me now. Menu is becoming more and more expensive with poorer quality. If you then have to order extra rice for CHF 4.50, that's the limit of impudence for me. Conclusion: Food has become worse and less loving. Usurious extra costs. Fortunately, there are better and fairer alternatives not far away.

I've been to Lily's many times and I've also ordered from time to time. The food was very tasty and you could taste that it was fresh. There are also homemade ice teas. These are wonderful and fresh too. There are really many good dishes on the menu. I really liked it.

Ordered via Just Eat at 8 p.m. - half an hour later the food was still not there - the online kept updating to “with you in 15 minutes”. When I call at 8:50 p.m. I get a snippy answer that the place is full and it will take as long as it takes or I should just cancel! Seriously? Completely unacceptable! If you have too many guests in the restaurant, you shouldn't accept online orders?! Was the last time!

They have here menu from exotic countries. And they are delicious!

Huge menu and quite tasty, but rather pricey without being special. I can't say anything good or bad about the service either. In fact, it is recommended for an uncomplicated bite.

The food is always the best. The quality from location to location stays the same and the prices are amazing for Switzerland.

Come here every time I am in Basel, sometimes 3 nights in a row. Food is really good, I always have the same dish because I love it so much. My colleagues have different dishes and they are a hit. Outside seating in summer is a bonus. We usually don't reserve but have always accommodated us even on busy evenings. Service is quick and friendly.

Great Food! just needs bigger plates!

Lily's Maxim is well located and easily accessible by public transport. When the weather is nice, I am welcomed and allowed to choose a place outside at a large table. Since it is already after 2 p.m., there are probably only a few guests here. I am served quickly and after a quick look at the menu I order a refreshing homemade ice tea called Pink Dragon (jasmine tea from Nepal, dragon fruit and slightly sweetened), steamed dumplings with Seoul BBQ Gyoza vegetable filling as a starter and Spicy Udon (fried Udon noodles with chicken, cabbage, mini corn, shitake, spring onion, egg and bonito flakes). After a good 15 minutes, the starter and main course are served at the same time. My first impression is limited. A little careless and without decoration, the dishes look worse than they taste. Conclusion: Recommendation and worth repeating. The menu is diverse and offers a good selection of different Asian dishes.

The most overpriced and ungenerous restaurant ever - they just added all the random dishes from like 5 different countries (Thai, Indian, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese…..) with the worst quality possible. I had a Tom Kha Gai and ordered a large one which is supposed to always be eaten with rice, but we had to add on rice separately. Super dry rice and overly salty soup. Spring rolls are vegetarian but they just added a bunch of noodles into it. Super odd and tasted like nothing. We ordered a Pho bowl and it was probably the only thing okay to eat. And the sakura drink was nothing different of just bare water. Not forget to mention, the staff was so rude. Disappointing!

Always happy to go back to Lylys. My favorite dish is Spicy Udon.

- too few employees, very long waiting times for orders, food and payment - Food was ok, but nothing more. Quantity rather modest to little. There are definitely better to many restaurants in this area in Basel - Cocktail drinks were a disaster and undrinkable - Friendliness very modest, no understanding or accommodation - The person in charge, probably the shift manager, was disoriented and overwhelmed - Card payment not possible, as the devices apparently had to be removed at short notice. Of course, this was not communicated in advance All in all, unfortunately not recommended for a nice, relaxing evening.

I ate here on my first date with my now wife in 2006. 😍 Always delicious food and over the years I've even come to appreciate the coriander, which I used to hate because I thought it tasted like stink bugs. 😂 It's also great that there are more and more vegan options, hopefully without any animal products. ⚡🌱💚 #govegan

Second-worst roast duck I ever had. At least it was not the worst. The Lily’s in Zurich is much better, if you want to go to one, go there.

There is a diverse selection of Asian dishes available. I have tried a variety of dishes so far and have been very satisfied every time. Very tasty food! The homemade ice teas are also very tasty. The condition is very friendly and accommodating! Favorite dish: Chiang Mai Noodles, highly recommended!

Very nice street style Asian food. Great choice of different dishes, mix of Thai, Vietnamese, Indian. Often with a twist. Large variety of veggie options. Very fast service. Good prices. Recommended dish: samosas

We sat outside and I actually had to call the phone twice. Once to be served at all, the second time to get the bill. The waiters often seem tense and unfriendly. The food is ok, but nothing more.

Always good when I feel like Asian but am not sure whether Japanese, Thai or Indian. Lilys has all three and I can decide spontaneously or combine them. The ice teas are also very tasty. Rather expensive for Asian food.

The best Indian food I've ever eaten.

We “only” had takeaway food, but the Pakistani lamb curry and the udon noodles tasted very good. Highly recommended. Lillys deserves its 5 stars.

I have been going to Lilly's very regularly for several years as it is the best Asian restaurant in Basel. The service is super friendly and the food is excellent every time. The vegetarian/vegan selection is very large and the portions make you feel full and happy.

Unfortunately, the raised table is really not recommended. The chairs are so high that my legs couldn't fit underneath them when I was sitting straight up. You also can't put your feet down, which gave me knee pain. (I am young and slim). My vegan siblings were happy. There were numerous dishes on the menu that were clearly marked. The food was good, the dumplins were perhaps a bit expensive. But the selection is great. One sounds better than the other.

Enjoyed yet another fabulous dinner at Lily’s Basel. We loved the classic starter set ( Satay chicken, crispy shrimp & springrolls😍) . The chicken cashew nut is a regular favourite and never disappoints. The Udon noodles and green thai curry with rice were delicious too. Good value for fresh and yummy food!A special mention : excellent service from Karima & her team. Thank you- we will be back soon👍🏽

This is my first restaurant in Switzerland, one more star for memories. The environment is okay, but the service is too slow. Also, whoever orders pho is a fool (except me)

I absolutely love the food at Lily's. But the service is getting worse and worse. It's really not fun to go there anymore. Some of the service staff don't even speak German properly anymore or don't know their own menu. It's a shame ☹️

I didn’t like it, the kimchi was sour, like the soup, there were very few people there.

Drinks don't taste good, like urine. Prices too overpriced.

Pleasant atmosphere, the food is not extremely expensive and the price-performance ratio is very good. The service is very friendly and accommodating. The benches can be a bit uncomfortable, but that's different for everyone.

Lilys Restaurant is my second home. Always a pleasure and, above all, quick. The performance/price ratio is consistent. I can't imagine my life in Basel without Lily. With that in mind, I love Lilys and thank you so much!!!!

I only had a bad experience once, otherwise I've been there often and the food was always great and the service was usually very good. I've had almost everything on the menu so far, and their veggie stuff is also very good. Their homemade iced tea is expensive but good.

The food is super tasty, but unfortunately the service is really bad. Disinterested, annoyed and not really friendly. When placing the take-away order, the probably new service specialist was a bit overwhelmed, the chef de service and a second waitress just stood there and didn't help her, and were even annoyed when she asked for help. I stood right there and have never felt so unwelcome as a guest. Totally wrong.
