Really great experience for Valentine’s Day. We shared the two person dish, consisting of multiple meats, vegetables, and all served with Injera beneath. For only €30 per person, it was highly worth it for the amount of food you get.

Never had Ethiopian food before so was almost a must to try it out, the staff were so friendly and the food was incredibly delicious. The sharing style of the menu makes it a very affordable option for Zurich, but it is also a gigantic portion it almost felt like a challenge to complete the whole meal. It was a pleasure to eat at this restaurant, the Ethiopian beer they have by the bottle was also very nice.

Used togoodtogo and for 8CHF per meal we basically had almost only overcooked rice (A bit of spinage; lentils and potatoes) and absolutely no meat. Very disappointing

It was my first time eating Ethiopian food and it was delicious! I tried the vegetarian dish and my colleague tried the vegan one. The bread was special and good. The waiter was nice and helpful.

Irresponsible and irrespecutful business. Ordered some food on ‘too good to go’, but once we went to pick it up, we were told there was nothing because they were closed and they forgot about the ‘too good to go’. On top of that, we were still charged for a food we never received.

The service was very friendly and served us with a warm smile. We had the mixed 2 person platter. It was delicious. The sourdough bread was very good. There was a huge TV. On the one hand, it was pretty cool because we got to see more about Ethiopian culture (music, concerts), but still not very appropriate for a restaurant.

I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you like Ethiopian cuisine. The mix plate is particularly recommended, as it offers a great selection of both vegetarian and meat dishes. What also struck me positively was the friendly and warm staff. You immediately feel welcome. A visit here is definitely worth it, regardless of whether you are a connoisseur of Ethiopian cuisine or are enjoying this cuisine for the first time.

We spontaneously decided to have dinner at the Liyu Restaurant. The service was warm and the food was super delicious!

We went there spontaneously for a date. Great ambiance with candles and wine. Service was excellent. And food was very good. We took the two person teller with promotion. And ended up spending 30 chf per person.

I am delighted to have dined at this restaurant. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and I had the opportunity to savor their main dish "Liyu Teller" (60 CHF for two, 30 CHF/each), featuring a variety of gluten-free offerings from their kitchen (I'm celiac). Moreover, they paid careful attention to ensure it wasn't too spicy, as I had requested. In keeping with tradition, the meal is enjoyed by hand.

Liyu is a super authentic Ethiopian restaurant with very, very tasty food. Also practical for large groups with a lot of people, as there are many vegan, gluten-free options in addition to meat. Very, very nice service. I don't smoke, but there would also be a cozy, separate smoking section and tables outside for the summer.

What a discovery in Zueri! I have never tried such a healthy, tasty and easy food before. The vegan plate served with Teff is so nutritious, you feel your organs are thanking you afterwards. Plus the owners are very welcoming and lovely people. They would do anything for the clients. It's the complete opposite in what you see in the city. Almost like traveling to a new region. If you are curious about Ethiopia, you will be a flair of the country by listening to the charming and positive music during your culinary experience. Last but not least, the Ethiopian beer is a MUST-TRY🍻

We've eaten here twice and ordered the samosas and the vegetarian plate to share. We both love Ethiopian cuisine and have to say that Liyu is truly the best Ethiopian restaurant in the area. I think it's particularly cool that they have a large selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The owners and service are incredibly friendly, warm and very concerned about the well-being of the guests. Some restaurants in Zurich could take Liyu as a model. Thank you very much, we would love to come back, simply great and a pleasure!

Ate at Liyu twice, once with my Amharic classmates, once with the family, both times very satisfied, the best injera bread I can remember. The Doro Wot is also a unique class! And the dessert with a glowing candle for my birthday was the icing on the cake. Thank you.

It was very fine food and very good service

It was our first experience with Ethiopian cuisine in Zurich and we were not let down! Food is delicious and rich of taste, we especially recommend lamb (tibs), sambusas (served with spicy paprika sauce) and injeras served with vegeterian side dishes (Liyu). Amount of food on the plate is enough to make you happy and full and of course service is always taking care of your well-being. We will definitely be guests of Liyu again.

I am a big fan of Ethiopian food but I got a bit disappointed here. I felt the veggies were a bit dry and lacked the taste. Engira was good.

Super delicious food, great variety of dishes and tastes! The meat is BUTTER Tender!!! Can highly recommend Liyu Restaurant. The dishes are prepared with a lot of heart and passion. The cook herself served us the food and explained it to us. The couple (who are owners and staff in one 😉) do a great job! They are very hospitable, courteous and warm. We'd love to come back!

Great flavors that you can already smell walking up the street to this place. Friendly owner/staff. I've eaten at about a dozen different Ethiopian restaurants in my life in various cities in the Western world, and will definitely return to Liyu, especially to enjoy the vegetarian options. Even both types of injera they serve are delicious enough to be eaten on their own!

I love Ethiopian food, and the food at Liyu is as good or better than any I've ever eaten. The injera (flat Ethiopian bread) was delicious and gluten free, the beef was really tasty, I loved the chicken, and I tried some of my friend's beef tartar (raw) which was also so good! They have vegetarian and vegan dishes too, so it's a great option if you are a mixed group of meat-eaters and veggies and want to cater to everyone's dietary needs! The Ethiopian owners (a couple who also cook and serve the food) are so friendly and helpful, and speak great English and German. If you're in Zurich and are looking for a delicious meal, good value for money, and excellent service (and also a nice atmosphere), I highly recommend eating out at Liyu!

Very nice service and the food tastes great. It's a new experience to eat Ethiopian. The "flat cakes", called Injera (Liyu?), can also be ordered the traditional way, with teff flour. Teff flour is gluten free! Will definitely go again.
