Amazing café: delicious sweets and drinks, and very well equipped for parents to spend quality time with their little ones (books, toys, play area). Highly recommended! Also a perfect spot for events: baby’s birthday parties, baby showers, etc.

I found very surprising how unfriendly the staff were against the children. Seriously if you can not stand children having a children-oriented business might not be the best idea…not coming back

Very nice cafe, the food was great. Unfortunately, the owner is not really child-friendly. When you open a cafe with a playroom, you CANNOT expect children to play without noise. She screamed through the café several times.

Great café for parents with young kids. You can have one of their delicious baked goods while your child plays in an amazing playroom that is filled with interesting and safe toys for a wide range of ages. The playroom is also equipped with cameras so you can watch your kid while peacefully sipping your coffee at the table. I go there every week with my son and he loves it.

An amazing place to go with the kids..the owners are super friendly and they have an amazing cappuccino. If you don't speak German, they speak English and the lady speaks Spanish, so you can go quietly. We will definitely return again 👌 greetings from Argentina 💙

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and their attention to detail is commendable. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or a pastry lover, this cafe is an absolute must-visit. It's the best in town when it comes to éclairs, and I can't wait to return for another delightful experience. What makes this cafe even more exceptional is its commitment to being family-friendly. They’ve created a warm and inviting space that welcomes guests of all ages, making it a perfect destination for families. The real icing on the cake, so to speak, is the giant playground situated adjacent to the cafe. I recently visited a supposedly kid-friendly café with a nice large play area, but my experience was far from satisfactory. The café had a strict "no screaming" policy in the play area, which made it difficult for children to enjoy themselves freely. The staff's tendency to reprimand the kids for playing a bit louder with building blocks further dampened the atmosphere. Additionally, the café's prices were expensive, making it feel like they were taking advantage of parents. I will not go there anymore.

We were there for Mother's Day. First the positive: the children's playground is well equipped and the little ones had a lot of fun. The food was good in terms of taste and quality. Now for the negative: charging 39 Chf for brunch borders on usury. Cappuccino was charged extra without any notice (coffee was included), 1 child of the two didn't get any food at all, and 3 adults kept forgetting a course. 1 half glass of orange juice for the entire brunch is definitely not enough and now it comes... 1.5 liters of water costs a whopping Chf 15!! In general, everything took an extremely long time and you could tell that there was no system behind it. When asked, the staff just said: we're all working! -.- It's a shame but unfortunately not anymore for the price.

There should be more places like this for families 😊

A very hardworking couple who tries to make the best experience for the families. Jannick is super accommodating when it comes to last minute birthday cake orders and delivers exactly what you ask for. We had two birthday parties there and kids loved it and we did not have to worry about anything. Also great for business orders for cupcakes.

Very cozy atmosphere but unfortunately too overpriced. And unfortunately the toilets are for customers. If you go 100 meters further there is a public toilet. Am very disappointed. The most famous restaurants are not even against people having to go to the toilet. 👎🏻

We celebrated our daughter's amazing 4th birthday with her friends at Magical Cafe. The children had great fun with the indoor playground and the toys on site, and the parents were also able to enjoy the time and the delicious snacks. Uncomplicated organization, pretty decoration & unobtrusive service - definitely recommended!

This place is truly an AMAZING and Magical place, everything is so beautifully decorated chic, loved the details and the wonderful warmth of Jannick and Tony. They are such phenomenal people that make sure you have a great time at their place. They are so careful and thoughtful about every single detail, we had our daughter’s 3rd birthday and I kept getting so many compliments of everything, from the playground, the place, the nice attention…it was an unforgettable party. We raised the bar too high and magical cafe made that happen. This place was the most amazing place in Basel for indoors parties and can recommend it to everybody that wants to have a nice time for both parents enjoying a coffee and cupcakes and the kids playing safely at the indoor playground

The sweets on offer are very very good. (Very sweet, too.) of you want a proper carrot cake, you probably can’t find a better one is Basel. The sweets are really good… Unfortunately, the Atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, unless you have small children. Would be amazing if they got a proper coffee machine. The owners are somewhat reserved, which some might interpret as rude or unfriendly; I’ve never had a negative experience with them and am happy they are here!! :) With all that in mind, I recommend!

Attended a kid‘s birthday. Place and staff were not welcoming. Staff are strict with rules and care little about being friendly. Coffee was expensive and mediocre.

The cafe was still closed at 10:00 a.m. and you couldn't order until 10:30 a.m. Playroom and tables still dirty and untidy. Definitely not family friendly prices! Syrup for a child CHF. 2.50 It's a shame because it's basically very nicely done.

The play area is to die for and the cafe occasionally hosts events for families. It's great that there is such a great café in a family-rich area! However, the prices are high - but the children can stay for hours.

Really an incredible play area for babies and toddlers. The coffee shop decor is very quaint and actually very lovely! The indoor play area is the best I’ve seen in Switzerland so far (as far as coffee shops go). The coffee is nespresso (a little disappointing) but the orange juice is freshly squeezed. The cakes and cookies seems to be baked on site! I return whenever I’m in the area Ps a pump track outside is great too!

I live 100 meters from this place, pregnant and a child and really happy to check out a place so near, cause I love to drink frequently coffee and socialize ☕. My first shock has been the price of the smallest carrot cake I ever got served (congrats to that 😂), a surprisingly empty place, and a waiter, that hopefully didn't have his best day today and does not have this attitude as a regular customer face. I left 12 CHF at the place and needed to switch with my partner after being only 20 min there, so he stayed and wantet to finish his cake and coffee and the waiter literally wantet to throw him out "for not consuming". They just lost a really good customer with the shortest way possible, and since this place is empty, I guess I am not the only one that felt uncomfortable. There was a really weird other situation, where a baby of another mum made noise on the table and the waiter was like super unfriendly "excuse me" like this had been something so bad? I mean seriously, if you don't like children and customers and people, don't make a coffee, get somehow something else to sell 🤣🤣

Great concept, café combined with a play oasis for toddlers, great selection of cakes & cupcakes. These are prepared with great attention to detail. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very warmly decorated.

it's a great place to bring your child, there's nothing similar anywhere in Basel that I know of. the food is nice too! But the service is rather slow and the quality of drinks is poor. when asking for hot chocolate you get served hot milk with a sachet of Cortina on the side. The coffee is only drinkable. But I guess you can let that pass because this place makes really nice bagels and cookies ;)

Such a wonderful place for going out with kids who have place to play. I love the small lunch options and they serve delicious cupcakes, cakes and drinks.

I really didn’t expect this from Magical Cafe (Max Kämpf Platz 2, 4058 Basel) On thursday the 4th of June, we went to Magical Cafe with my sister. I knew that the Cafe is organising a fathersday brunch-box (to deliver or pick up). I told it my sister, and we decided to order 2 of these brunch-box (one for my sister her husband, and one for mine). We have agreed with Magical Cafe that it will be delivered. We wrote our names, addresses and the place where it must be delivered, on a paper. Jannick took the papers with her and said that it will be okay. On sunday, the 7th of June on fathersday, my sister decided to pick her order up, because her husband wasn’t going to work. So she went to Magical Cafe and picked her brunch-box up, she has explicitly said that she is Gülbahar Bayraktar Polat. After my sister picked it up I received a phone call from Jannick (Magical Cafe). She asked me if I’m the person who picked up the order. I said, “no, that’s my sister. I am Ayse Bayraktar, not Gulbahar Bayraktar. You have to deliver my order to Breisacher Shop” The brunch box should have been delivered at 12:30 pm. But we didn’t receive anything. We called Magical Cafe and they said that they have delivered the box to the address my sister had given. We said, that’s not our address and we didn’t receive anything. She said she will call us back, but she didn’t. The next day, I received a message from Magical cafe. U can see this on de pictures below. After the messages we heard nothing from Magical Cafe. Today, my husband went to the cafe. We just wanted our money back. We didn’t receive anything!? I payed for NOTHING?! Unfortunately, (I was very shocked) Jannick said that I (Ayse Bayraktar) said my order should be delivered to that address. That’s absolutely NOT right, why should I? Why would I say she has to deliver it there when on the phone I have again stated that I am Ayse Bayraktar and it has to be delivered to Breisacher Shop? My husband is not working there?! It’s not even my address? WHY?! Why would I call them 3 x in the afternoon to ask where the box is, when I would have told it to go to a different address? When my husband said that is not true because he (and the whole family) was with me when we called on the phone, she argued that we have the same last name and that it is happened because of that. I’m sorry but it’s not my problem or responsibility to keep names of your customers apart!!! We have allways spoken German to Magical Cafe Jannick. I thought she is understanding it well. I really hope she misunderstood me and doesn't try to accuse me for herself making a mistake!! I am very sorry that it ended like this. Unfortunately, the cafe has left me no other choice, and I feel compelled to share it on social media. I always loved coming to the cafe with my son. But after this situation, unfortunately I will not get there again. Neither do my sister and friends! I hope the Cafe can come up with a nice solution, and we can still go to the cafe.

I'm giving this rating because my colleague recently had a very bad experience with them. She ordered a brunch box for Father's Day. She received nothing, even though she paid for everything and gave all the necessary information, was delivered somewhere else. She didn't pay for anything and Cafè did nothing to correct its own mistakes. What a cheek!!!

I went to Magical Café for a baby/kids shower and was truly enchanted. 😉🥰 I thought it was really great there and super comfortable. Magical Café is super, super suitable for babies and children and therefore perfect for celebrating baby showers, babies' first birthdays and children's birthdays.

Very nice cafe with a large children's playground. But the owner is like a detective about children... and very cheeky with the children She doesn't let children play the way they want and complains that the children make a mess... they are children and it's normal for them to be like that! so warmly furnished, but such cold staff I think if you open a coffee shop for children you have to be friendly to the children... and you have to understand that children make a mess. I won't come anymore.

Great cafe with kids! The parents always have a view of the kids in the separate, large play area via a camera in the dining area. Rarely have I had such a relaxed coffee with a friend 👍

We celebrated our daughter 2-y anniversary yesterday and it was simply perfect! Communication with the Magical Café team was smooth, easy and they are very professional. They provide plenty of advice on and they really take time to ilsten to your preferences & needs. Would definitely recommend this place for birthdays! Thanks a lot to the Magical Cafe team!!

It's a toddlers, parents cafe!!! Play room available for the children. Has jewelry for women. And there are cakes, muffins, clace here. Like coffee and all soft drinks.

Nice place to hide with kid when outside weather is against you

The Magical Cafe is a great way to beat the heat or cold. My son and I come at least 1/wk. There is so much for the kids to do. They even have a remote viewing system set-up in the store so the kids can play in the playroom while the adults drink their coffee/tea or just mingle. The latte machiatto was the best I have ever had!
