Great service, good cuisine, very friendly in a fantastic location.

Best schnitzel I've ever had - as I insisted on telling the owners over and over again! I've had plenty in my time but this was just brilliant. The cordon bleu was great as well, but over a month on and I'm still dreaming of that schnitzel. We hiked up to this brilliant restaurant for dinner one evening and I can back what many other reviews have said. The food is delicious, and everything feels local, homemade and authentic. The views over the valley are stunning and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset sat outside. The owner is wonderful. Be aware there is no English menu but I hope non-native speakers attempt a little German as she was not fluent in English herself - I tried my best (my German is very broken) and she was wonderfully polite and accommodating (I disagree with other reviews who have said there was any sense of rudeness - you have to meet half-way!). This feels like a little gem in the mountains - the sort of place locals will know about and tourists should make the effort to find. For a brilliant dinner with a view - and again, can't recommend the schnitzel enough - then please pay Marmorbruch a visit. One of my favourite meals in 2 weeks of travelling the whole of Switzerland, and a handy location if visiting the nearby glacier canyon. Highly, highly recommend!

I have visited and enjoying a delightful lunch at Marmorbruch, a restaurant nestled in the picturesque beauty of Grindelwald. My experience was truly memorable for several reasons. First and foremost, the view from Marmorbruch is nothing short of breathtaking. As I gazed out from my table, I was treated to a stunning panorama of the surrounding natural splendor. The combination of towering mountains and lush greenery created a mesmerizing backdrop that enhanced the dining experience. The food at Marmorbruch also lived up to expectations. We started with a fresh salad that set the tone for the meal. However, the real star of the show was the tenderloin. Presented to us raw, it was a nice interactive dining experience. The provided pan, accompanied by a delectable mix of butter and garlic, allowed us to cook the tenderloin to perfection, ensuring each bite was infused with savory flavors. The side of chips with veggies and coleslaw complemented the dish as well. In conclusion, Marmorbruch is a gem in Grindelwald, offering not only good food but also an unparalleled view that elevates the experience. If you're in search of a relaxed casual and memorable meal with a view, Marmorbruch is the place to be.

The worst costumer service you’ll ever experience unpleasant and unwelcoming staff,not recommend for any tourists.

Was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Well cooked, great tasting, traditional comfort food. We have Schnitzel and Bratwurst for mains and molten lava cake for dessert all with a great view.

Great place, great food and attentive service

Worth coming here for the spectacular views from the terrace. As it is located a short drive up a smaller mountain road it is away from any crowds you might see in other parts of Grindelwald. We tried the fondue which was very good. Probably one of the better options for an authentic meal in Grindelwald.

Quaint mountain restaurant in one of the most beautiful surroundings in the world. Nice, friendly landlady, food and drinks at reasonable prices, only the walk up is a bit strenuous. It was definitely worth it.

An incredible experience. Great Cordon Bleu and the owner is the most pleasant woman in the world. She will ensure you have a filling and amazing meal. As his final stop on a lonely evening in Switzerland, Rustom sucked down a schnitzel but managed to hammer two tall boys (Großes Bier) before rolling back down the mountain to his chalet for a nap. It was so incredible, he bought a tee shirt.

The schnitzel and the garlic bread were so good I couldn’t talk for 30 minutes. I just shook my head and made noises 😂

Charged 18chf for 2 cola's. Rip off, nice view though.

Cool spot up a winding road or a slightly steeper trail, probably about a 30-45 minute walk/hike from the main road. Not too high up, and i think you can take a bus or drive if you prefer. It was quiet as it was late afternoon but the outdoor patio overlooking the valley was incredible. They have a lot of food options, and the beer was cold! I tried the bratwurst and hash browns which got the spot after a day of hiking around.

Very good and affordable cuisine. Warm and authentic hosts. You can first visit the glacier gorge and then stop off at the marble quarry on the way back to Grindelwald. Great thing!

The most unpleasant and unwelcoming owners I have ever met. I strongly advise against it. The hosts are the rudest I have ever met. I really suggest you to avoid this place.

The owner explained things very kindly, and the food was prepared with great care. The view and background from the restaurant are truly breathtaking. Be sure to visit once. It will be a fun time and memory.

Wonderful local food and beautiful views and atmosphere. Anita and her husband have owned this business for 21 years. Get Anita talking and you will have a great time!

Unfriendly. Were insulted, yelled at and attacked by the operators. Because we stood there briefly in the parking lot. They could also have dealt with us normally to point out to us that this was undesirable.

If you want to find a great home cooked swiss meal, this is best of the best with one of the greatest views in the region. Highly recommended

Arrived a little late for lunch on September 4th, 2022. It's like coming home again after a long time. At Anita & Walli you are welcome and served/pampered. The two are real hosts. It's a shame we couldn't stay overnight this time... that will happen again next year. Thank you for the lovely stay with you

A very cozy restaurant. Very friendly service. We recommend. The food was also very good. Driving the last 200m is not entirely easy with oncoming traffic, we are in Switzerland, that's fine. A trip worth...

Insider tip, good food, friendly service

We had the best food with the worst customer service ever! The nuggets along with the fries was 10/10. However, the old man was extremely rude and made us uncomfortable. We went inside we asked nicely about the menu he gave us an attitude and when we saw the menu we asked if it’s available in English and we don’t consume pork. Suddenly he start lecturing us that we are in Switzerland and everything is in german (as it’s a must to know how to read german). However, The lady was nice. I’ll never repeat the experience again Note: I’m a non-european tourist.

Very nice hospitality. Only had one ice cream sundae, which was good. A few meters further you have a great view of the glacier gorge from a bridge. You can also go to the Canyon Swing jumping platform here.

They charged us 5 CHF for an extra (empty) plate! This is unheard behavior in any restaurant I have ever visited. Very disappointing experience

You must go! Our family of 4 ate here and it was our favorite meal of our 4 days on Switzerland! First - the food had great flavors, cooked to perfection and the owner was patient to explain everything to us as our German is poor. 2nd - the view cant be beat. 3rd - the owner is amazing and makes the whole place feel like you are being welcomed to their home. This is <10 minutes from Grindewald (5min up hill from Glacier Canyon if you stop there) and beats every restaurant we tried in town. And best bathrooms in our whole trip. I’ll leave the surprise to you vs sharing the pic but definitely worth excusing yourself to check it out. Hint- the parking lot is in the back so go around front (where the view is) to enter. We almost walked away as it looked closed. So glad we went around. You should as well!

We happened to see the sign on the way back for a short hike and spontaneously went out to eat. The host couple is very nice, the food is tasty, the price is right, the portions are very generous. A little too big for me. ;-) The beer 🍺 is cold and the Williams is sensational. Gladly again!

It’s closed although is says it’s open online, very disappointing as we walked all the way up the mountain for a drink just to find out it’s closed as “its written in the sign”, 2021…. Very bad experience

Friendly staff and very good traditional cuisine

Delicious and well-priced food, the owner is charming and very friendly, she also speaks perfect English, I recommend ordering meringue for dessert! It also has spectacular views and is well away from the hustle and bustle of the town, which is much more touristy.

We had an amazing experience at Marmorbruch tonight. Food was tasty and we even got to cook the steak ourselves right at the table. One of the owners even interpreted the whole menu for us into English and explained the dishes. Don’t hesitate to give them your business!

As always, very fine food, and the host couple Anita and Wali, Eifach Geili Sieche, and thank you Wali for taking me to the ice hockey match. We always have fun. (Rubber boots forget our mistake.)

Beautiful and interesting area, a couple of fresh pictures, this is a free and easy option too see the Gletscherschlucht from the top.

Very friendly host couple and a beautifully located restaurant. Unfortunately, the food didn't completely satisfy us due to the addition of glutamate in every food component; On the fries, the “g’Hackten” or in the breading of the schnitzel. Fries could have been baked crispier for my taste. What is positive, however, is the small menu and the use of local products such as Galloway beef from Interlaken. The restaurant “actually” only accepts cash and adds an amount to the total when paying by card, which I don’t think is entirely right, even though the amount is small at 1.50 CHF.

As always, a great meal and would happily go back...

Quaint restaurant with a very warm host couple. Generally quite meat-heavy, but with great quality and homemade garlic butter. We ordered the meat pan (small, buttery steaks that you can fry yourself) and the Töffsattel (pork shoulder).

Hearty and delicious Käseschnitte served with good humor from the heights of Grindelwald. The nussgipfel out of the oven will have finished filling us... Address to recommend!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Einfach nur Wow! Nette Besitzer, welche Spass verstehen! Super Portionen mit echter Hausmannskost und keine Retortenspeise. Kann ich bedenkenlos jedem empfehlen! Übrigens: Die 5min auf dem Schild sind mit dem Auto gerechnet. Fussmarsch 10-15min zum teil ziemlich steil.

Anita welcomed us warmly. Location on the edge of the forest with a view of the mountains and very quiet. A real happy break. A delicious stew.

It was outrageous how unfriendly and rude we were treated by the owners. We were basically thrown out of the house. Never experienced anything like this!! It's a shame to experience it in such a place. (plus service staff inside without masks)

We stopped here after visiting the Gletscherschlucht. The food was really good, I was impressed with the size and taste of the Schnitzel, the french fries were delicious, not the usual ones which you see everywhere. I would definitely come back! Quality/Price ratio very good!

The rather small stone quarry is way up on a steep shoulder of a magnificent former glacier bed. What blows one's mind is to imagine a bunch of men (and maybe women too) went up there and chiseled for days on hard rock and rolled them down to the valley below on wood stumps then transported them all the way to Bern. And all that nearly 250-300 years ago!!! Simply fascinating!!

Anita and Wali were really amazing hosts: nice, attentive and always willing to help. The view from the guesthouse and the balcony is great and you can spot the Eiger from there! The food was also great: delicious local ingredients cooked with care. Thank you Anita and Wali for this great stay! We can't recommend your guesthouse enough!

Great little restaurant, located between Pfingstegg and Grindelwald. We had delicious ice cream on the pretty and quiet terrasse, surrounded by goats, forest and with a splendid view on the mountains. Note that credit cards were not accepted, this place is cash only.

The staff is very friendly and the ice cream is super! With wonderful view of Grindelwald!

Great place to stay in Grindelwald, especially if you come by car! Very hospitable owner speaking good English and amazingly fresh air and marvellous views! Also highly recommend their cheese fondue and apple cider! But don't you dare to order the Merengue for yourself after, it's just super huuuge!

Fantastic food with friendly staff

Nice and friendly service and a great view. The food was super tasty. Homemade Rösti with bratwurst and onion sauce. Delicious. A culinary delight. Only recommended. I would go again and again. The schnitzel with homemade breading is extremely good. 👍

Everything's okay...for a coffee and if you like being approached and want to be taught about Swiss gastronomic traditions. Customer is king is probably not one of them here. Or do you simply have something against tourists?

Little tunnel that goes into the Marmor mountain with some exhibits. Takes a 5 min walk from the restaurant.

Although the tunnel is accessible, it does not appear to be fully prepared for visitors. There are all sorts of things lying around that don't belong in the tunnels.

Wir haben spontan einen Tisch im Restaurant Marmorbruch reserviert. Am Telefon wurde uns sehr freundlich der Weg zum Restaurant beschrieben.Die Anfahrt ist wirklich ein bisschen abenteuerlich, denn die Strasse ist sehr schmal und hat einige Schlaglöcher, sie ist jedoch asphaltiert. Das Restaurant verfügt über einen grossen Parkplatz. Beim Restaurant angekommen erwartete uns eine wunderschöne Sicht auf Grindelwald. Man kann sowohl auf der Terrasse essen wie auch im Innenbereich. Wir wurden sehr freundlich von der Besitzerin empfangen. Sie desinfizierte vor uns noch unseren Tisch. Das Ambiente ist nicht besonders überwältigend, jedoch fühlt man sich in der Umgebung sehr wohl, denn die Gastgeber sind sehr Gästeorientiert. Sie sprechen sehr gerne mit den Gästen und suchen somit den Gästekontakt, was ich sehr schön fand. Die Speisekarte hat sehr wenig Positionen, jedoch alles frische Produkte. Wir wählten beide Rindsfilet mit Pommes und Gemüse. Das Rindsfilet wurde portioniert und konnte selbst in Kräuterbutter gebraten werden. Das Fleisch stammt aus Matten (Region), die Qualität war überragend, ich habe schon lange nicht mehr ein so leckeres Stück Fleisch gegessen. Der Preis ist eher hoch, jedoch bezahlt man für diese Qualität gerne ein paar Franken mehr!Fazit: Super Adresse um an einem speziellen Ort in Grindelwald zu essen. Durch die Lage ist es auch nicht so überlaufen mit Gästen. Qualität der Speisen ist super und die Gastgeber bereichern den Aufenthalt auch sehr. Wir kommen gerne wieder!
