Super tastier food! Reasonable portions and the cellar anthony was very nice and entertaining!

Very nice restaurant to feel good, warm and attentive service, including a friendly welcome. The food is also fine (onion soup, for example, 1a), but we found it to be somewhat lacking in sophistication (e.g. the mussel broth could be a bit more flavorful and the desserts were rather average in taste for us personally). Overall, however, recommended and worth a visit!

Nice service, actually good food, except that the root vegetables consist of 80% celery and 20% carrots. Not so good for someone with a celery allergy... (There are other root vegetables besides these two varieties.) The waiter wanted to order more carrots, but was blocked by the head of service. A pity!

The food was average. About what you can expect when the average rating is 4.5 stars. Nothing to complain and nothing to be euphoric about. Executive canteen level. That's what the average customer rates with 4.5 stars. Yes, I know, this is arrogant. But other places with really excellent food get less stars because it's too expensive for the average customer. Arrogant, again, yes. Therefore, this review is more about me and my opinion on people's opinions and Google ratings in general. Just saying so.

The service is super, and so is the atmosphere. Mixed with some good food, this is a great place.

Friendly and attentive service. THE popular address for “Moules et Frites”. Unfortunately, this time the brew lacked sophistication. A little more wine would have made the mussels - the traditional version - perfect. Nevertheless: gladly again!

For years I have been coming regularly to Mère Catherine with friends and also every year before Christmas for a buffet meal with my 18 employees. Every time it is an experience: pure enjoyment and warm, professional hospitality. Every course was a feast for the taste buds and the eyes. I would also like to give a big compliment to the wait staff, who always serve us with so much charm and humor. A big thank you to the kitchen and the entire crew for allowing us to be pampered again and again at such a high level.

Great French restaurant with a great ambience. 1 star deduction for not enough Cafe de Paris on the Entercote. In France there are a lot more of them and I love it that way. But that's complaining at a very, very high level. We will come back in any case.

Pleasant atmosphere in a unique old town restaurant. Very friendly and competent service. Food and wine are well explained. Luckily the map isn't too big. The food and drinks are, without exception, of the highest standard. Tip: The fish selection is incomparable. The good price/performance ratio is sensational considering the central location, the unique hospitality and the highest quality of food and drinks. We always enjoy coming to Mère Catherine.

Everything was perfect here. Distinguished and professional service. The ambience in the time-honored building is very dignified. The whole thing is tastefully furnished and the seating is not too crowded. Last but not least, the food was of course excellent. In any case, highly recommended!

A very nice, quiet place in the middle of the Limmatstadt🙂the bar is a great place to get in the mood for the meal! Very friendly and cheerful staff😄😄 Being served personally at the bar by the boss is great! We were pleasantly surprised, the kitchen deserves a round of applause 👏👏 for the great fish dishes. The only negative point was the jus on the mussels, the taste could be better...we'll come back to this friendly Mère Catherine👌a bîentôt!

We always enjoy taking a break from everyday life at Mère Catherine. The ambience creates a holiday feeling, especially when the temperatures are warmer in the courtyard. We mostly order moules frites because they are simply delicious...a daily version is also offered. The quality and quantity are very good. Yesterday for the amuse-bouche we received bread (dark and light) and a very good olive-caper-garlic paste. We found the service to be extremely polite, attentive and with a good dose of humor. Yesterday a service specialist with a French accent served us, which only made the holiday feeling even greater - thank you very much! There are also tables at the window front where dogs can find space - great. Advance reservation is recommended here. In any case, we will remain loyal to Mère Catherine ;) Thanks for everything and keep it up!!!

We visited the Mère Catherine on the 30th of Dec for dinner. Service was great - observant and very friendly. We had Saibling and Pot-au-feu seafood and liked it a lot. This and the great location provided a wonderful evening.

Beautiful, lovingly run inn with a beautiful courtyard. In general, a very cozy atmosphere, you just have to feel comfortable there. Very friendly, professional staff. Great selection of food. Excellent food, fresh and great quality. We will be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

The restaurant is very nice and the ambience is wonderful. The service was very friendly and responded directly to requests. The food is excellent! Absolutely recommended!

Most of the dishes are pretty boring. A bit of vegetables, a bit of meat. The steak is okay, but you get 0815 fries with it. For the price you'd rather go to the Relais de L'Entrecote. However, desserts are good, atmosphere too and service is very nice.

My absolute favorite French restaurant. A wonderful tartare and a great ambience. Highly recommended, even if expensive.

Unfortunately, the inevitable children's noise from the next table disturbed our lunch meeting!

Very nice atmospheric restaurant! Nice service, great food. However, the acoustics were an absolute catastrophe, I even had ringing in the ears when leaving the restaurant because of the extremely high noise level, sometimes at the threshold of pain (groups of men at the next tables). Acoustic dampening elements in the room are largely missing, an investment that would be worthwhile?

Still like it used to be: simply a wonderful restaurant with fine food at a fair price (we ate moules-et-frites for two) and very attentive, friendly service.

Super nice atmosphere and attentive service. The noise level was a little too much as the restaurant was full to the last seat.

We entered the restaurant with high expectations and heard very positive things about it from many quarters. The Mère Catherine was only able to partially fulfill these expectations and we went home disappointed. Although the restaurant was half empty, we were seated at a table right at the entrance - unfortunately in winter there was a lot of traffic around the table. The service left a lot to be desired, you felt ignored and the staff was inattentive - the drinks menu was forgotten, glasses and plates were not cleared away, and everything took a very, very long time. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the food, but even the best food is only half as good without the right service. We will think carefully about another visit.

Small, pretty French restaurant - it's lovely outside in the summer - it gets a bit noisy inside in the winter. Between courses it took a little too long for us until the next course was on the table. The staff is very friendly, attentive and professional.

I've been coming here for several years and it continues to offer that perfect blend of warm understated upscale. The food is excellent and the whole atmosphere is very convivial and easygoing. A perennial favourite.

Main course was good, but perhaps too much salt in the herb butter. The fries were very tasty. But the fact that you have a strange industrial aftertaste like some kind of vanillin or vanilla sugar in a mille feuille for 14 CHF... I don't understand that at all... The mousse au chocolate and the dessert of the day were really just OK, nothing more. Unfortunately… complete disappointment!

Excellent communication with reservation. Being a group and some of us a little hard in hearing we were given a quiet cozy corner upstairs. Service was very attentive and the food a delight, especially the Moules.

All in all, it was okay, even if the main course took a long time to arrive. Which took a lot of getting used to, we wanted to pay separately and had to calculate the amounts ourselves using my cell phone because the wait staff didn't have a computer and, as we were told, mental arithmetic was forbidden to the service staff.

10/10 this is the best restaurant we’ve been to while we’ve been in Zurich. Anthony was so attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. He made the evening so enjoyable. Everything we ate was delicious and the atmosphere was charming. Would highly recommend!!

The Mère Catherine restaurant is located in a winding, sweet alley in the old town of Zurich, but is easily accessible on foot and the tram stop is not far away. The establishment offers both a restaurant and a bar area in the restored historic building (if you sit in the restaurant on the ground floor, the preserved and painted wooden ceiling is a real eye-catcher). On Sunday we spontaneously made a reservation for the same evening via the website and everything worked perfectly. The menu offers classic but also seasonal dishes and the food looked and tasted impeccable! The staff were without exception friendly and accommodating and you felt comfortable from the first moment. Tip: If you want to test the restaurant, you can combine this with a visit to the Arthouse Movie cinema opposite - good alternative films that are not shown in the big cinemas. In summer, the restaurant also offers seating in the alley/inner courtyard, which is enchanted by the lights and ambience in the evening. Price-performance ratio is definitely right for the location, the food and the service. So big recommendation!

First an excellent drink in the bar “Le Philosophe” and then a very good meal in the restaurant (Moules frites, Coqbau vin). The service was friendly, attentive, helpful and competent. The place was full, everyone was happy and lively, which meant it got very loud. We drank coffee outside on the cozy forecourt under the umbrella. Highly recommended - I'll go again.

Had a wonderful evening at this restaurant, eating a delicious game escalope and a very tasty goat cheese and figs desert. The atmosphere is relaxed, cosy and intimate, staff friendly and polite, location quiet and food absolutely delicious. The prices are also quite good for Zürich. Definitely made our favorite shortlist for the next time we are in town.
