A real off-the-beaten-track experience and fascinating discovery that reveals the source and history of Swiss table salt! Enjoyable and adventurous train ride, followed by a great stroll through the mountains with a knowledgeable guide and export cheese tasting. Highly recommended and don't forget to bring your kids along! 🧂 🗻 🚋 PS: Access via public transport is slightly challenging. It's best to come by car or plan ahead logistically and expect a 15-minute walk along the road, river and up the hill. 🚘 🚌 🚶♂️

It was a very good experience. It was exciting to go deep into the mountain by train. Two hours were spent productively with our experienced guide. The kids loved it more than we did. The price is quite normal The cheese we tasted was also special. In one word, super

Lots of people, I told myself that it would make 2 groups, well not at all.... Little time to sit and watch, too big a group The guide makes us move forward, but we shouldn't, we have to turn right, but not turn right... only misunderstandings which slightly killed the atmosphere and the interest of the visit (getting moaned about it n is not pleasant, especially when the explanation is not clear...) A series of ads, cheese, on sale at the store, as well as salt, on sale at the store, bath salt, on sale at the store, chocolate? on sale at the store.... ah, without forgetting the beers... on sale at the store.... in short, the mines themselves are really nice, but explain to us that the usefulness of salt in the body (explained in the initial video), without explaining the extraction to us (except with the hammer and the....) and some interesting anecdotes. As much as the guide was still nice, a real miner makes the whole thing more pleasant to visit In short, it was a visit made for children, some adults even got caught because they were taking photos instead of listening...

I came to the salt mines with my wife and a Belgian couple. We were told that this couple who do not speak French would receive a device to be able to follow the information in English. I asked our arrogant and harsh guide several times where these devices were, she always dodged the answer and in the end there was nothing available. This couple therefore made the visit without being able to understand the information….The visit itself is fascinating, but this guide was more interested in promoting to us the rooms that we can rent and other possibilities for giving conferences in these depths than giving clear information out loud. We were promised that there would be tastings of products made with salt from the Bex mine. It all started well with a few chips that we had to season ourselves. Later, in the mine, the guide took out a crummy Tupperware with tiny pieces of cheese which she handed out to us by hand. No elegant presentation as one would expect in Switzerland, that disgusted me and we gave it up! Despite the exciting place, we left disappointed to realize that all this is primarily done to promote local products rather than to introduce us to the fascinating history of this place. If so, it should be free, or cheaper….

We didn't like it, quite expensive 68th 2 adults one child, not too much time to watch, not great, not enough detailed history on the beginning of the creation of the mine, there is only the entrance to the mine which looks like the 19th centuries then 3/4 is from ours, interesting for those who like to learn about how to extract salt from rock...

Gorgeous. We loved the concept of taking the mine train to enter the depths where the miners dug to find this white gold. Since I went there... which was maybe 20 years ago... They perfected the tour. First a nice introductive movie, funny and modern. The guide was very funny too and she provided a lot of fun facts. Too bar for those not speaking French though. You can try yourself at digging the rocks, the little train is really funny. The wells are impressive. What's the most impressive I think is the fact to have a salt mine in Switzerland that is actually working and producing.

A great time, for young and old. It also allows you to find a little warmth and shelter on rainy winter days, just like the cool in summer (it's 17/18° all year round). Very interesting to visit a mine still in operation. Don't expect to see miners working there (not sure if it's ideal in terms of security) but you can still see the Alpine flower production part. It's also possible to hold seminars/conferences there, and I imagine that the neighbors are pretty cool under the mountain! There are a few tastings throughout the visit and it's really good (and tasty!) The staff is great.

Galleries dug by hand at a time when salt was worth gold. A mine to absolutely visit and eat there under 600 m of rock and more than 1.8km from the entrance to the tunnel where it is essential to take the little train to get there. An ideal cellar for wine, cheese, etc., where it is nice and cool all year round at 18*C. I recommend purchasing smoked fleur de sel to season your red meat.

All in all we had a nice morning. It's a shame that the group is so large. This means that in some places you have to listen to an explanation while not everyone is there yet and there is no space/time to walk around quietly and look. Very commercial. The products in the store are very expensive. A bit strange that it is not clear in which language the explanation is. Audio available.

Fantastic experience at the mines de Bex, A route with an incredible history and a very friendly guide. Extraction of pure non-iodized salt, not like sea salt which however contains metal mixes of particles etc etc. Their salt sold solely by them at very low prices and one of the purest in general. To know that they also have a stop for gruyers who only sell them very good and also wine which is sold in Bex.

The history of salt exploitation in Bex begins in the 15th century, with the discovery of a salt water source in the region of Bex and Panex. However, the exploitation of these waters with a low salt concentration (2%) turns out to be unprofitable. Over the following centuries, the Bex deposit gave rise to intense activity: the digging of galleries and the constant search for ad hoc techniques were intended to improve the efficiency of exploitation. The current technique, implemented in 1960, allows optimal exploitation of the deposit. The reserves of the Bellerin subsoil suggest exploitation for two more centuries. Interesting and informative visit for adults and teenagers.

Very nice experience, even though the guide tells everything in French. You will receive a handset that explains in English or German what you will see in the mine after you ride a train 1600 meters underground. In the shop where you are led into at the end of the tour and the tasting in the hope that you will then buy the things you tasted, and I may say that the caramel that you get in the mine is very tasty.

A hot takeaway from the visit: we came with 10 people (from 7 to 72 years old), after having booked the day before via the website for 9 of us because we had a grandmother who was a little stressed by the claustrophobic environment who was waiting for us. When we arrived there we went to explain the situation to the very understandable hostesses. They suggested that we start the route (the start of the visit is the narrowest by walking) with the possibility of reversing. For train travel, seats at the ends are available to be better ventilated and not to be confined. Even better, if you don't feel at all comfortable once the train has passed, you can join a group that is finishing their tour and return to the nearby entrance to the store. Accompanied by my father, who had recently undergone hip surgery, suffered from knee problems and walked with a crutch, we were still able to enjoy everything. A big thank you to our guide, patient, gentle and very smiling.
