The food was creative, exciting and delicious. We opted for the Tavolata (105 CHF per person) and found that half of the dishes were intended for sharing, resulting in small portions. It seems a bit disproportionate to pay so much money per person and still only receive limited food. We also noticed that the vegan menu had one fewer course than the vegetarian menu. It was very cold at our table under the window because it was constantly open. The waitress tried very hard, but we were only offered a solution very late.

I was invited to this restaurant for the dinner and knew nothing about before. My first impression was that I got into traditional Swiss place. But then Neue start to show up. Except interior, there is nothing traditional here - contemporary vegetarian menu, including tasting and a la carte choices, a wine list full of small producers and names you’ve probably never heard before. We chose a tasting menu and it was good, even for me - a 100% meet lover.

I am amazed of this place - My man invited me for a date. And that was just a magical experience. I am quite demanding as I work in that industry. If sharing your food works for you, you have come to the right place. Very nicely arranged dishes, Swiss-international fusion, vegetarian, seasonal and contemporary. Fantastic inspirations and reminders of classical dishes. Fair prices on the wine menu, which is super-rare. I walked out satisfied, but not stuffed. Friendly and approachable staff, apparently the chemistry in the team is good and they make you feel welcome. I will make this place this place a regular venue for me. Expect to pay 80-150 CHF per person, depending on wine selection, a fair price for the service and effort.

Already after the first gear you get the feeling that you have to hurry and in the end it was really hectic. There was no relaxed atmosphere or time to enjoy the delicacies in peace, which left our group quite dismayed. What a shame!

Ridiculous wine prices When I studied the prices on the wine list I first thought they were magnum bottles, but no, they are 7.5dl bottles. Few wines are priced below CHF 100, most cost between CHF 200 and 400 per bottle, mind you for average wines. When I found a bottle of Pinot Grigio on the wine list for over CHF 200, I almost had to laugh. This pricing policy is really a rip-off, so I'm deducting a star from my rating. Apart from that, the food was very tasty and creative, definitely worthy of the Michelin star. Overall, however, the dishes were too greasy for me. Serving fried sweet potatoes covered in a thick sauce is a bit overkill for my taste. Nevertheless, it was a great experience and I enjoyed food that I had never had before. The restaurant is a big hype at the moment, so make sure you make a reservation.

The place to go to experience a truly elevated vegetarian cuisine. What is interesting is the combination of traditional swiss interiors, which remind a typical stube or chalet, with the modern and innovative vegetarian cuisine, performed by a young group of chefs. The menu is made of different dishes to share or you can opt for a tasting menu with the chef’s selection. We ordered á la carte and every dish was delicious and based on seasonal and local ingredients. I highly suggest the veggie caviar, as well as the pumpkin (loved the plating), but also the butter bread with truffle. Also the risotto with spelt and mushroom was not the usual risotto, it was unique in its texture and richness of flavours and spices. Compared to other vegetarian restaurants, I appreciated the combination of different cuisines, using flavours and techniques from asian traditions, mixing with typical swiss and european ingredients. Also the portions were very gentle and there was the right balance of fats and proteins. The staff was very nice and attentive and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended not only for vegetarians but also for flexitarians curious to experience new trends

Unfortunately, we are very disappointed with our visit to the Neue Taverne. My guests and I were really looking forward to this visit and our expectations were high. We had two vegans with us and decided to order the Vegan Tavolata for everyone. Unfortunately, not a single course could convince us. Everything was 'fine', but that was it. None of the courses made me or my guests say 'Wow, that tastes great'. The taste was rather basic. I wondered all evening whether the vegetarian menu would have been a better choice. If so, perhaps you shouldn't offer the vegan menu. The competition for vegan fine dining in Zurich has become very strong in recent years and if you can't keep up with this level, you may want to take it off the menu or adjust the price. The sharing concept didn't convince me either. When it comes to a tavolata served to the whole table, I imagine something different than the two plates for four people to share. Unfortunately, the service didn't make this experience any better. At first he was nice, but after a while they didn't seem to be interested in us anymore. During two courses the service forgot that we had ordered the vegan menu and explained vegetarian ingredients. When I asked whether we had now switched from the vegan to the vegetarian menu, they apologized and said that it was vegan. We weren't given more water once. I asked about the spice/flour when making sourdough bread and was told he would have to ask the kitchen about it. I didn't get an answer all evening. On top of that, we were still hungry after the surprise menu. When I go out to eat in this price range, I definitely expect more.

This location's handling of food allergies is below industry standards, and I simply would not recommend this place for anybody with allergies. My partner and I booked a tasting menu days in advance, specifying her (severe) food allergies very clearly. The booking was confirmed. But when sitting down for dinner, the staff informed us -- not very politely -- that the house has a policy to never adjust the tasting menu to accommodate allergies, and that we simply couldn't take the tasting menu. This is quite unusual for higher-end gastro places. (Our experiences is rather that chefs are quite excited to tune and adjust, and want feedback on those experiments). Worst case, we understand if tweaking things may be too challenging for the kitchen due to philosophy or other constraints, but at the very least we would have expected a call ahead of time to let us know that this wouldn't be possible. We had an a la carte experience, which was OK, but by no means the dinner we had planned for.

The atmosphere was rather snobbish, but you cannot escape that in Zürich. But the food was wonderful. We had a vegan tavolata with a "caviar" fingerlimette starter (we are not vegan). The balance of flavours was exquisite, the course timing perfect ,and the portions satisfying. For example, the exact use of truffe without abuse made the dish mindblowing. There was a taco dish with oyster mushroom and maize, and being a mexican I was highly skeptical of it. But it was an amazing, novel melange of flavours. The least interesting dish for us was the lentil tempeh, and still that set a very high lower boundary. A total recommendation for anyone willing to explore new flavour combinations. Totally worth the price.

[Visited May 2nd & 9th 2023] Neue Taverne is most probably one of the very best restaurants I have ever visited in my life. I am not easily impressed so I am delighted to recommend "Neue Taverne" to anyone that devours food. The Micheline Star Restaurant ticks all the boxes from the extremely attentive and lovely staff to an adorable and open kitchen design that lets you see the chefs in action - and boy do they deliver! You will find food that is unlike anything you have ever had before because they play with everything mother nature has to offer (minus the meat). If you are a meat person, give it a try, you will not believe what the team is able to create but if you really do crave any sort of meat I recommend Bauernschänke which is their second restaurant but Neue Taverne is my fav! The menu changes frequently and its based on the season so you will most probably not find what I had in Q2 of 2023 but they understand how to create eatable art and you will be impressed. There are some evergreens in the menu such as the bread and the "Kaviar of the fields" but if you happen to come in May try the Polenta and the Ricecakes. But let me be frank, you can't go wrong with anything you order anyway. With regards to the prices, quality has its price and if you are just going for filling up your stomach (this ain't your place) as you will end up paying more than you most probably wanted. I would say if you consider 2 dishes and a drink you will be in the range of 60 CHF per person. Add one more dish and something more extravaganza and you will end up with 80-100 CHF per person. Heck, if you add wine you know the drill. Verdict: An absolute must have - please book a table (no need to book weeks in advance but don't come random unless you are on your own. The food is one of its kind and you will leave Neue Taverne wanting to go back. It's on my must visits in Zurich and I will remain a returning customer. What I have ordered (and what I recommend, however it was one dish too much, maybe ditch the bread) + Water + Thyme of my Life (non alc. cocktail) + Bread with dip + Kaviar of the Fields + Polenta + Rice cakes + Espresso Total: 112 CHF -- You will also see dishes from my other visit (not part of the above) but still highly recommended.

We had high expectations, but left the restaurant disappointed in the evening. The surprise menu was not cheap at 105.- and left us hungry at the end. There were 2 small bowls per course. Barely enough for women with small appetites but impossible enough for a man. Unfortunately, service was the worst of the entire evening. Very friendly but not competent, food served without cutlery, empty plates left in front of the guest for 30 minutes, refills of individual orders of a glass of white wine when the first glass was still half full, because we were so hungry at the beginning, we had bread with the fine sauce Ordered additionally, this was charged extra at 7.-. Bread, salt and pepper usually belong on the table without being asked

The “restaurant game” begins with the greeting: the first few minutes determine the quality of the evening. But you don't have to worry here, because Sarah and Simon and their team have the sensitivity of artists. We were treated to unprecedented accompaniment through the aisles - a sensory journey full of culinary masterpieces. The vegetarian meal itself was a combination of creativity and finesse that took us on a journey full of unexpected flavor combinations. The construct of textures and spices was a bold masterpiece that made every course an extraordinary experience. This is not just about satiety, but about experiencing taste, art and sophistication. The wine list was also very decent - from natural sparkling wines to the classic Pinot Noir. But the real treat were the sommeliers, who thrilled us with their in-depth knowledge and passion for the fine wines. Their recommendations rounded off the culinary experience perfectly. However, what really sets the restaurant apart is the concept of “sharing”. Sharing food and experiences is celebrated here - a true joy for the soul and the stomach. If you don't know this gastronomy yet, you're definitely missing something special. We look forward to another visit and very much hope that the standard of one MICHELIN star can be maintained.

The morchels are the star. A vegetarian Michelin concept which doesn't explain things too much. Lovely to be able to order your dishes. Ania's favorite was the rice cakes, which she would call sour rice cakes. Because they have peanuts and sourness. Bread was nice, but isn't all warm bread?:) Beetroot tartar has a little too much perfume from the pickled ginger, wasabi and onion. And now, the morchels. Perfectly combination with rice, which has some crispiness and cooked all dente. Truffle brioche was also very tasty on the milk bun. Very nicely looking. We also tried their most expensive red wine on their menu. And I think it tastes like any other 1er cru. I would expect a little more when deciding to pay 280 for a bottle. Especially that the wine brand owner recommends enjoying it until 2022.

I had dinner at Neue Taverne last saturday and it was a lovely experience. Everything was fresh, tasty and imaginative, but not in an annoyingly fancy way - just very good food prepared lovingly. The place is surprisingly quiet considering it was booked out, and everyone working there was very friendly. We had cocktails to begin - I particularly recommend the Lemon Tree, which is sweet and citrusy and a nice way to start the meal. The starter was crunchy radishes with a nice green sauce, and really good bread with a lentil dip. I particularly enjoyed one of the heartier courses, which was a little potato gratin with these sauteed japanese mushrooms on top. The braised leek was wonderful too, and there was also a little dish of stuffed onion with a tangy beet broth that I liked a lot. The use of miso and soy sauce in several dishes added a very welcome touch of umami. The dessert was unusual but fantastic - an apple sorbet with a coconut espuma and a compote underneath. The whole meal was light but nourishing, We left very contented and vowed to come back.
