Great place, great music. But one of the barkeepers doesn‘t know the prices so well. Got two rum-mate and one mate without rum and i paid 16 for each drink making that 48. And i tipped him😂😂 What a night.

Mediocre club. The only special thing is that it is a ship. 1000 stairs up and down and really steep, great with high heels... Drinks too expensive. A cloakroom box costs 6 francs and hardly space for 2 people. Sound system with failures, acoustics bad. Boring decoration with a minimalist light show. Ventilation is a horror...either you sweat to death or if you stand under the cooling system you have full blast of air conditioning on your neck. Dance floor with stairs down...who designs something like that? A pity..

Great sound system, stunning location, welcoming staff, but…. The crowd was absolute garbage, people wo just leave to get drinks in midst the most beautiful drops in history, absolut smacked people being clapped in the middle of the dancefloor, and some just don‘t have any spatial perception what so ever. It‘s sad to see that people come here just to get drunk or high as a kite and not come to enjoy the artist! Besides that great venue!

10 CHF for a locker!! In which you have to stuff the jacket. Way too expensive. You also have to remember a 6-digit code and a symbol to open the locker again.

The club itself was okay. However, I noticed that people here mostly dance alone and are not looking for a group where they can have fun together. The music was so mediocre, there was no real drop and stuff. I have to deduct another star because since I picked up my bag, it has now broken and can no longer be repaired. However that is possible

Club visited only after the Tensions Festival and I loved it. I don't know if it's the same atmosphere all the time but that day in any case, for real techno fans, it was great.

I occasionally go out to party with friends at Nordstern and there are reasons for that. I think the idea behind the club has been implemented very well, the acoustics and the lighting are very good, it's great fun. Particularly noteworthy is the deck, where you can make yourself comfortable and take a little break from partying, as do all the events organized by Nordstern!! Securitys are always friendly, I'm happy to come.

Service great! Manager from the bar, biggest a**hole on earth. Dont go to the big blonde man in the bar, never seen such a **, he doesent acept helpfull people from the crowd. Just a awfull person.

Great club, great atmosphere and respectful treatment of people. What I particularly liked was that the smoking ban was largely adhered to; even with big names there was still plenty of room to dance. Several counters (I counted 4, respect) so you really didn't have to wait in line for long and there was no crowding.

Too bad Haffenfest. 3 ladies at the bar, 45 minute line. Very poorly organized.

A really great location and the surrounding industrial area fits perfectly with the musical direction of the club. The staff was consistently friendly and remained remarkably calm. Big praise for this. The permitted number In contrast to other reviews, I found the guests to be appropriate. Sure, you always wish you had 1-2 meters more space for dancing, but I've had far worse experiences at other events. You always got through relatively quickly. Now to the negative point. At around 5:00 a.m. (03/31/23) there was a box on the dance floor. The acoustics then no longer allowed for any atmosphere. This shouldn't actually happen with the focus on music. I found the water prices to be too high, but that is always subjective. I'd still like to come back.

It's hard to believe, but this club is on a ship and therefore the individual parts are on different decks. There is a lounge on the upper deck, the cloakroom on the middle deck and the club on the lower deck. At the bar you pay with cash (euros/francs) or with card, it couldn't be better. The club itself is exactly the right size for my taste. Lights and video screens create the appropriate atmosphere. Depending on the music, the system sounds great, although 100 dB applies here. A bit quiet for my taste, but good, it's healthier. Once you get to the club, you no longer notice that you are on a ship. The audience that evening was mixed in terms of style and age, but everyone seemed to have the same taste in music. If you love electronic music, you should definitely come here.

Incredible sound system but half the people on the floor think they're videographers and can't stop filming the set... it's so pointless and annoying for those who just want to enjoy the moment.

I went to the Nordstern a few years ago and it was great, we had room to dance. Now, too many people inside, impossible to dance properly, the capacity of the club is clearly exceeded in my opinion, a techno club is a club where you must have room to dance, and this is no longer at all the case... Too bad because there is great potential.

In my opinion, the PA does not provide even sound to all areas of the dance floor. I've noticed this several times now. There are areas where the sound pressure from the subwoofer is more or less completely missing (e.g. back right near the corner), which is a disaster for someone who comes for the music. Apart from that, and this may be subjective, the sound level is generally just too low. After all, you are in a techno club. I am aware of the DB limitation. I don't expect a wall of sound, but techno depends on the level. It often happened that you had to wait 20 minutes before you could order your drink, which is also a no-go in a club like the Nordstern. The club seems to have good lighting but I have to say that in 50% of all my visits you could have gotten the impression that the LJ was asleep. Overall the store is a bit of a disappointment. The often high class line up is pearls to swine under the circumstances described above. The store actually had real potential. In addition, there was often a lack of a relaxed atmosphere. When it comes to organizing the door etc. I recommend a visit to Fabric in London, maybe it will work better after that. I would be happy if the problems mentioned above could be addressed, because otherwise there is a lack of really good techno clubs in Basel.

Nice Club on an old Ship on the River Rhein. Nice atmosphere on the deck in the summer, especially if they start in the afternoon. The main dance floor is inside the ship where and rather small. It Can become very crowded when famos DJs are playing, even too crowded sometimes - get Tickets in advance to get in on those nights. On normal nights The dance floor is still well ventilated, if it is too crowded it can get too hot, though. (Mind you, they are able to get DJs that play in front of 50000 people into that little Club). Music depends on that nights' DJ and varies accordingly. Relaxed door policy. Usually There's a good atmosphere with always at least 30 people staying to the very end - usually at 0600h. This club seems to have the most mature audience of all of Basels Clubs, especially when old techno legends are plaaying. The location is a bit off, but a 10min walk away There's a both a bus and a Tram Station (05am - 01am), Taxis are usually already waiting around the end. Seems to attract a lot of french people (probably since it is close to the french border).

Misinformation! It was said that newcomers could come into the club for free with their digital ID. However, the woman at the checkout wanted 10 CHF from me. Rip off! And cheek

Best techno-club in switzerland!

They bring the best DJs but the crowd is a disappointment. So much potential but mostly visited by snobbish kids who gets too drunk or too high. Also, they have a vers weird Abendkasse. Sometimes they fill it too much, and people keep stepping on your feet. Arms, shoulders, feet hitting you. Can't dance and lose yourself with the music.

DJ performed 10/10 and the sound was incredible, but there were way too many people for the floor to enjoy!

Nordstern is a club of excellence in Basel nicht life. And is for more than a decad my selection. Since their change to the ship, they got better. And it continues to be a recommended place to go. I love the music and the ambient of this club. The sound system is fantastic and the club team is friendly.

Schiff Festival 2 was great on the upper deck but downstairs was too hot. It felt like a sauna after 15 minutes of dancing in the poorly ventilated dance floors. Music was repetitive too, overall not good not going to nordstern again.

The security is extremely unfriendly and aggressive for no reason. Some of them could only speak English. It was therefore difficult to communicate.

Visit 5/21/22, Jeff Mills Before our first visit to the Nordstern we had only heard good things. Many Google reviews praise the club, and the sound system in particular is regularly mentioned and emphasized. Newspaper articles rank the Nordstern among the best clubs in Switzerland. And this was exactly the place we wanted to experience the Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills. About the sound: Unfortunately, we can't report any outstanding sound system. Started with the volume. Bathing in bass and music is not possible because you could hear conversations from two meters away in the middle of the dance floor. A driving bass that goes through your bones? Unfortunately not. Sometimes the highs just ring in your ears, sometimes they were barely noticeable. Somehow it was missing in every nook and cranny. To the light: Light is and remains a certain matter of taste in the club. It's too light for some, too dark for others. The Nordstern offers a successful light installation that is worth experiencing. For our personal taste it should just be a little darker and less bright. To the audience: People often push their way through the dance floor with little consideration, with little respect for the few people dancing. We know exuberance and letting go when dancing differently. The men in the group like to use the dance floor to get as close as possible to the next female object of desire while dancing. The girls' outfits suggested more of a bridal show than comfortable dancing clothes. We experienced the following quote above deck and confirmed our impression: He: “Do you actually know which DJ is playing tonight?” Answer: "No, I don't care. I'm here because of the women." The techno mentality we love so much is missing. Let's dance together, no matter how colorful we are, and have fun until the morning comes. And preferably even longer. To the club: The location on the ship has something special. The upper deck is nicely decorated with lots of wood. Unfortunately, at first there was no music there, later Latin American music. The club was clean. There are many seating options and places to retreat. A little much for us. At least we get to dance. There are even fold-out seats on the side walls of the dance floor. On the DANCE(!!!!!!) floor. And the floor is unusable. It almost knocked our socks off, it's so sticky. The only way I could help myself was to always moisten the ground beneath me with a little water. The explanation of why a glass of sparkling water costs 4 francs and a glass of still water costs 5 francs is certainly exciting. Contemporary: You can pay by card! Conclusion: Anyone who is really looking for TECHNO was in the wrong place this evening at Nordstern. However, everyone else can certainly have a nice evening here.

I have been coming to Nordstern often for several years and have always been satisfied. However, I was a guest again last Sunday (April 17th). I know that there is always a deposit of 1 franc per cup when drinks are distributed. When I wanted to return my 4 cups and buy 1 new drink, I paid 17 francs for a Redbull vodka. The deposit was simply not deducted from me. When I tried to talk to the barmaid about it, she went straight to the next customer and simply ignored me. This happened twice that evening with the same person. I find this behavior cheeky, simply not giving me back a total of 7 francs even though I paid them. (It happened at the back bar, to a woman with short hair and a tattoo)

Actually a cool club, great facility, cool light display, but you just can't let that many people in. There was no room at all to dance, the dance floor was packed from back to front, I couldn't take a single step anywhere on the dance floor. Apparently it has to do with the fact that the maximum capacity has been increased from 800 people to 1200 since my last visit. As long as that doesn't change again, in my opinion it's not worth a visit. It's a shame actually.

Have been attacked by two strangers in this club. No Security near at all. Luckily i could free myself by the help of my friends out of the hands of two drugged indivuduals in their mid 30s. Disgusting people where those searching victims and attacking from behind without warning or reason. They completely torn apart my sweatshirt and beat my head. When they realised it wasnt 2vs1 anymore they let off me. Another incident a good friend of mine got ko-drops in her glass at Adam Beyer last week. The officials of the club werent very interested in clearing the cases. Very disappointing. Club has changed a lot!

Great location, great sound. Security, however, is extremely aggressive and not understanding. It was an unpleasant experience to see how they forcibly kicked out someone who had had a little too much and was recovering in the entrance area. At least two or three words or a quick question would be the least.

Simply incredible, the security is carded and the people are kind. We came from France and we were able to get tested on site. Plus the tests are cheaper and the results are quick.👌

Hello, Unfortunately I have to write this bad review. Because I find it impossible what happened in front of her club yesterday. I wanted to have a nice evening with my friends. I am fully vaccinated and I was still not allowed in because I don't have a QR code, just my ID card. Then they said I should get tested for an extra €15 (thanks for nothing). And what's more, it was done via a website and only with a credit card. Then my friend who had herself tested that day (Germany) wasn't allowed in because it wasn't accepted. She also had to pay again. There was nothing on their website about Corsa regulations in theirs. And on the official BAG website it says that the Covid certificate can be presented on the app or in paper form. I then decided against doing this and I had already paid the entrance fee, please for the plus. And because I wanted to leave and still had my girlfriend's bag (who was allowed into the club). I wanted to give her her things but unfortunately she wasn't allowed out. The bouncer didn't let her through, even though she tried to explain to him what she wanted. Then he freaked out and behind her she panicked and went back inside. So I would think about what kind of image you want to convey. We were warned by your club beforehand, so it's probably our own fault that we wanted to get our own opinion on the matter. I wish you a pleasant day. PS: I would be happy to get an answer.

Extraordinary location, techno club with good DJs. There is a French mobile phone network on the ship.

The Nordstern is a good club, no question about it. The lighting and sound system are good. The booking is usually good and the location of the former club “Das Schiff” is also unique. But: Unfortunately the management is a disaster. Even with a ticket you wait in line for over an hour. Only to then have to stand in the cloakroom for another hour. When you pick it up, another half hour. There is something fundamentally wrong here. In addition, there is no selection at the door. This leads to you sharing the dance floor with testosterone-fueled muscle chavs who lapse into aggressive dominance behavior. Next time we'll probably go to Elysia again.

Great club with incredible line up. People just could not indicate they are expecting an EU vaccine passport instead of the national one, which is very inconvenient.

Next time I'll bring my diving suit. You have no air to breathe and it's too hot (there is no ventilation only a few fans in the middle of the club), humidity and smoke is everywhere. We had to leave in the middle of the DJ set. I came back in and my glasses were immediately white (due to the humidity). My girlfriend is now coughing up her lungs (PCR test NEGATIVE), but something happened since last weekend. If she doesn't get better, we'll go to the doctor.

If you don't turn on the ventilation at the optimal level. So that people drink more, very optimal 40 degrees in the club, everyone sweaty in the Corona period.

I think Nordstern is the best club in the wide region. There’s always a good atmosphere and the personnel is very professional and friendly. This is a club where people come for the music and everyone is down to earth. Here you really can dance like no one is watching; nobody would laugh at someone and all the guests are true music lovers who have respect for each other, like it should be in the Techno scene. Next time when I’ll be raving in the lower deck, I’ll buy a few more expensive drinks than just beer, in order to support 😎 Much love from an early 90’s raver 💥🕺🖤
