Incredibly delicious Indian food in the best atmosphere. Anyone who stands in front of the restaurant expects a normal neighborhood pub, but once inside you are immediately greeted by delicious, exotic flavors and a pleasant, but not exaggerated, atmosphere. The waiters were very nice and gave us good advice. The Indian-style Hugo tasted great and the naan bread was also great (although there could have been a little more). The Byriani was simply phenomenal! The spices were wonderful, it had a great bite and the sauces that came with it also tasted great. The evening was crowned with a delicious Indian pistachio ice cream. I can absolutely recommend the okra both to order and to eat on site. It is probably the best Indian restaurant in Bern.

I had a great time here with my colleagues, we went here for lunch and I had fish korma, the food and service is great. I expected the food to be spicy but it's not that spicy but the taste is good. The food is more like North Indian style. Anyway, Swiss people will love this food because my colleagues really liked it.

The chicken at the Okra restaurant in the Lorainequartier was really tasty and the service was extremely attentive. The combination of delicious food and friendly service made my visit a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend it!

If i want to eat Indian cuisine, the first place that comes to my mind is Okra. Service is friendly. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and the portions are quite generous. You can see their kitchen, where chefs are preparing the food. However, there is no unpleasant smell in the restaurant. The place is very clean. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Really nice place with decent service, as long as you are seated directly within the garden. Food is presented nicely, Naan was good. Unfortunately, for our taste, it was all a little bland for Indian cuisine. We had the mixed starter plate. Pakora were very good, but both the Prawns and the Chicken Wings didn’t really taste Indian at all - Chicken was almost like American chicken wings, very bland. Almost no heat, not even in the chilisauce, which appeared to be ketchup with some spice. Both the Tikka Masala and the Lamb Vindaloo lacked heat… a lot of it. I realize they tone it down for the Swiss people, but if I order a Vindaloo that‘s indicated as the highest heat level, I want to atleast feel some of it - but to my taste, this is what you usually get when you order mild. Other option, ask the customer what heat level they want if you offer authentic Indian cuisine. After I tasted it, I looked for a waiter but no one came around for like 10 minutes, so I decided to just eat it. Again, it was fine, rice was good portion sizes were okay, there was just way too little heat and it tasted a little bland. I would still come back but definitely tell them with the order that I want more authentic spice levels.

I got the Indian veg takeaway from this place. The food was decent, less flavorful that actual Indian food but pretty good otherwise. The take away costed CHF 11 which is very decent compared to other food takeaways in Bern. Will definitely recommend this place for lunch takeaways.

The prices correspond to the norm. The restaurant itself is rather small, but has a large outdoor terrace. Cozy ambience with a touch of holiday feeling in the middle of Bern. It was very delicious! There is rice and naan for the main courses. Many different naan preparations to choose from. (E.g. garlic, butter...) The sharpness is very low. Had 2* (out of Max 3) and it wasn't spicy at all 😄 The dessert was also delicious... All in all, really recommended.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. The waiter assigned to us spoiled our guest experience due to his hectic and rough manner (dropped several drinking glasses on the floor as he quickly walked past and my friend had a hot plate pressed into his face while clearing away). In addition, the waiter almost didn't want to acknowledge the fact that we wanted to enjoy our dessert in another restaurant. He suddenly became very pushy in his repeated attempts to sell us dessert, tea or coffee even though we had already ordered the bill.

Service prioritizes the restaurant's profits over customer convenience--when a chair was needed, our bags were set on the floor without consent; when I (female) showed up alone, all tables were suddenly "reserved".

Went there for dinner with colleagues. Liked the fluffly rice and dhal, raita. The vegetable curry from the Thali menu, I didn't love. The staff was friendly. Okra had southern Indisn music (Tamil? Malayalam?) playing in the background which I enjoyed. I think the interior design and dishes and menu variety can be improved on.( I was really missing the Masala Dosa). The portion sizes are great for an Indian restaurant (typically rather small). I can't say anything about the bathroom, since I didn't use it. All in all, I would definitely go again.

We have been at this place yesterday under a colleague suggestion. He also suggested us some dishes to order and I can say that he was definitely right. For context, it was my first time in a Indian restaurant and I’ve been so impressed. I enjoyed the food and it’s spicy taste and not all the food was hot. My favourite indian place in Bern! Very tasty and lovingly made food. Try the Butter Chicken, the Baingan Korma (aubergine curry) or any of the wonderful naans. The samosa looked huge and unappealing, but tasted great and came with totally addictive mint and joghurt sauces. Also I appreciated that the sides were nice, fluffy rice and simple but tasty daal served with every meal. The only negative thing I could say is that the Chicken Tikka Masala was a bit dry (unlike the Butter Chicken) and that the mango dressing they put on salads is a bit sweet and thick for my taste. Also the place is pretty small and loud, but hey that's part of the experience :) Service is fast and friendly, the price is not cheap but I think it's worth it for what you get.

DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES OR FOOD SENSITIVITIES! They lied to me about the ingredients that they use in their dishes. My “Vegan” meal contained yogurt and cream and I am very sick today because of it. I asked the server if my dish had any milk or butter or ghee or cream and he assured me it was only coconut cream. It seems nice, but unfortunately this restaurant can not be trusted.

I love Okra.... but yesterday was just chaotic... 1 hour waiting for a simple dish... we ask 3 times for blanket they forgot... the chief had friends at a table they passed before everybody the chief was taking picture with them rather than serve other clients waiting in cold without blanket.... they don't even offer us anything for waiting... so go for take away at midday rather than dinner at night!
